The portion of the ruins excavated by Pahg-Vahr and her ogre conscripts represents a modest fraction of the entire site, yet the magical wards are more than sufficient to keep any of the island’s giants from causing much damage. Further exploration would require considerable effort by a larger team of Pathfinders and staff, and since you have made a positive impression on the Averakan during their brief alliance, the half-orcs happily provide a base of operations for future forays to the ruins. In time, Society scholars might unravel the wards sealing the ruins’ interior.

When you return to Averaka, you meet the first of several squadrons returning from the northern half of Flintyreach. The half-orcs report success in chasing the giants from a large lowland area and fighting their foes deeper into the hills. There the giants were able to entrench themselves and fend off the Averakan assault, but not before Chief Gorgnak suffered a terrible wound and lost several key lieutenants as he fled the battlefield. With your assistance in dislodging the giants from
the Little Thunder, the water supply to Averaka returns to normal, and the half-orcs’ spirits are high. The councilors thank you for your assistance, and a local captain sails you back to Magnimar in her ship.

Furthermore, Kazzok's actions in helping to quickly take out the giants on the dam without undue injury to the Averakans seems to have impressed Dhiara. She seems interested in speaking more with the Scarab Sages regarding their aims in the future. Kazzok may tick off an additional box on his faction card for this mission.

The strange wards in the cave seem to have caused some sort of curse on Harsk, Lucija and Naghamadi. Kazzok failed, too, but because he succeeded in his faction mission, the curse has no effect on him!

Curse of Belimarius: You have triggered one of the defensive wards left by a powerful Thassilonian wizard—possibly the runelord of envy, Belimarius herself. You gain spell resistance equal to 5 plus your Hit Dice, though this applies only against harmless spells. Unlike typical spell resistance, you cannot voluntarily lower the spell resistance from this curse. Only limited wish, wish, or miracle can remove the curse, which allows you to cross it off your Chronicle sheet. For the purpose of this curse, you may instead pay 8 Prestige Points to secure a limited wish to remove the effect.

I will filling out the chronicle sheets and PMing you the link to download them shortly. I hope you enjoyed them game! Thanks for playing!

Interesting curse - it seems to have screwed me extra-bad. A few things:

Why did I take that huge penalty?
Is it too late for someone to lend me an unused reroll of some sort, if I may?
Did Naghamadi (whose result was a 20) really fail too, and does that mean I'll need to pay for its removal from BOTH of us?

Bonekeep Slides

You took the -5 because you interacted with it with a spell. The DC was 21. You both failed, but I'm not certain about eidolons. I'll research it and get back to you.

Yes, it's too late for a reroll. You know the result of the roll and the DC now.

Okay, quoth the Compton:

No, it seems we need something else. After discussing the options in-house, we're strongly considering what I'll call the Player Character Responsibility solution: A PC can acquire a boon (negative or otherwise) through the actions of his CFE. If the effect would have an in-game effect that triggers before the end of the adventure, the creature that triggered it still experiences that effect until the end of the scenario, at which point the PC gains the boon (and the CFE is no longer affected).

Consider the following hypothetical examples that involve a CFE and a situation that grants a boon on the Chronicle sheet.
A demon offers the PCs hamburgers made out of angels, and eating one pushes one's alignment one step closer to evil. Only the druid's boar animal companion eats one. The boar becomes neutral evil for the rest of the scenario. At the end of the adventure, the druid gains the associated boon that says, "You ate an angelburger, and you're now evil"—unless of course the druid received an atonement to undo the damage.
A doorway has a curse that afflicts whoever walks through first. It's a really amusing curse, and I've decided that it should be on a Chronicle sheet as something a PC might have for a while. The summoner's eidolon walks through first, fails its saving throw, and suffers the curse for the rest of the adventure. At the end of the adventure, the curse transfers to the summoner.
A scenario offers a boon to whoever can succeed at a DC 25 Climb check and recover a gem. A wizard sends his monkey familiar to do it for him. There's no benefit during the scenario, but the wizard would receive the Chronicle sheet boon instead of his familiar.

This route does introduce some minor narrative hiccups, but it also prevents the use of animal companions as minesweepers and eidolon as cole mine canaries.

—————

I'm taking that as you need to spend the expenditure only once, since at the end of the adventure, his curse defaults back to you.

Okay then. 8 Prestige is a lot, so let's consider the alternatives if they're available:

- Hiring someone to provide us with limited wish would cost us both 2,410 gp - 4,820 together, or 803 (+1 for Harsk and I) if spread around the party.

- Alternatively, a miracle would be cheaper (1,530 per capita, 3,060 together, 510 if shared) IF you were to consider this curse as in line with the effects allowed by the first clause of the spell.

I'll leave it to you all to discuss. Please note any expenditures on your chronicle sheets.

Yikes! So in the case of using a pregen that would apply to Archibald, the character I am applying the credit to, correct?

Looking back at my post, I'd misread and mistakenly taken the -5 penalty that Lucjia recieved. Does a 24 save? That would likely make the above much cheaper for everyone.

Big thanks to everyone in this game! I really enjoyed the Scenario and had a great deal more fun than I expected playing a pregen.

So we can't really do anything to help Lucija, it seems. That's a bummer.
