Clandelve suggest to check out the east door first and you open it to see:

Purple desert shrubs and a small oasis adorn this sandy valley, which is bordered on all sides by impossibly tall barriers of solid sand. The crimson sky above shows the sun at its highest point, and the valley's intense heat creates a rippling haze in the distance.
Running fro north to south, a large dune makes up the floor of the valley, sloping gradually downward toward a narrow passage through the eastern wall.

Also in this room...really crowding up the place are 4 giant scorpions

Shayla blinks twice when her vision returns to normal. She looks down at the gibbering creature, and smiles triumphantly. "Ha! Take that!"

While waiting in the hallway, Akeyra directly behind her, Shayla tries to catch a glimpse of what's inside the room. "Heinrich, what's inside that room?! I can't see a darn thing!"

There's currently no way to fit Akeyra in that new room :(

A little conscious of the lack of manouvering space Cogstadt nevertheless steps around the corner and fires his crossbow, at the Scorpion he can just about see. (green)

Heinrich steps into the room and hits one of the giant scorpions while Cogstadt tries to fire his crossbow at one of them ..but amazed that someone was able to fit 4 large scorpions in such a small room his mind wanders and he is unable to focus on hitting his intended target and all he manages to do is let his bolt slip out of his crossbow.

The scorpions go insane buy having their already cramped space even further reduced by a dwarf entering their small desert oasis

(they have reach..so red, blue and green are able to attack Heinrich..yellow will delay until you guys open up space for him to move forward as well by killing at least one of his mates)

Heinrich in the middle of flying stingers and giant scorpion claws is able to deflect most of the body parts with his sturdy armor..but one stinger and one claw make it past his defenses

but the compact dwarf is too much trouble to grab a hold off

"I can't aim at them with all of you in front of me. I'll go inside in a sec!"

She concentrates, and casts lead blades on herself.

Can't go in and attack in 1 turn, due to my 20 feet speed. I should be able to move in next turn, and directly attack. Both my swords now do 2d6 damage instead of 1d8.

he then takes a swing at the already damage scorpion cutting out it's legs from underneath and slicing into it's belly spilling it's guts all over the sand

Shalya enchants her blades to be more heavy and have more impact

Kalaron waits for a better time to act

Cogstadt fires his crossbow once more but his bolt glances of from the though carapace surrounding the scorpion (doesn't hit AC) before moving to the side to let someone else have a shot

As one scorpion goes down..the other 3 scuttle forward a bit and attack Heinrich...all though only 2 of them can reach right now

Archibald recalling his lightning bolt spell, steps into the doorway. "Sorry old chap, this might make your hairs stand on end. "ໄລປະຕູ..." he mumbles apologetically, intoning in Auran and letting a blast of energy tear soar past Heinrich and tear through the three scorpions. Unfortunately the bolt of energy jumps to Heinrich's armour, and he isn't spared the worst of the blow. "...ຟ້າຜ່າ!"

I'd hoped your Paladin saves might spare you the worst of this, Heinrich, but then I remembered what Dwarven charisma scores look like. I'll keep the friendly fire to a minimum but seems to me like we want to end this early before you're all poisoned... The good news is I can almost afford a rod of selective spell!

Actually, Stonelords don't get their charisma bonus added to saving throws...

Heinrich's Dwarven Fortitude allows him to stoically fight off the scorpions' poison.

Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18.

He then glances over his shoulder incredulously as electricity arcs through him, and hits the remaining scorpions.

"What in the Nine Hells are you doing lad? That hurt almost as much as all of the scorpions combined!"

Just as an FYI, as per the 'Guide to Organised Play', dealing damage to another party member without their permission counts as PVP, and is not allowed.

If Heinrich had failed that Reflex save, he would have been unconscious next to three vermin... which would probably have resulted in him being eaten. Please do not do that again.

It's a bit iffy if Clandelve could have moved where he went with a 5ft step..but alright, let's assume he could

Clandelve moves into the room and tries to hit something, anything...but both his attacks fail to get through the scorpions though outer shell

Shalya tries to tumble past the scorpions to get close enough to attack one, but one of the scorpions manages to swing it's tail her way

AOO vs Shalya AC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

hitting her just below her arm

Damage Shalya: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 and a fort save DC 17 vs poison or loose 1d2 ⇒ 1 strength and for the next 6 rounds or until a successful save

Shayla then swings her saber at the green tinted scorpion and manages to slice into it's flesh

Archibald casts a lightning bolt through Heinrich which hits all 3 scorpions

Kalaron then steps up behind Heinrich and swings his axe through the next scorpions fangs, dropping another one

The last scorpion (comes out of delay and) steps forward and attacks the entire front row

Archibald harrumphs, motioning to the smoking remains of the felled scorpions. "You might do to not go swimming with man-sharks and eldritch horrors from the deep whilst wearing so much metal, master dwarf. You aren't exactly making my job easy. Though I suppose the proper application of metamagic might be sufficient to arc the bolt's course. If one were to intermingle the proper abjuration magics whilst tearing open the fabric of the material plane and channeling the ceaseless storms of the elemental planes, then yes, I suppose one might be able to maintain one's grip on the fragile threads on the multiverse and minimize collateral damage." the wizard pontificates.

"Of course, you might simply step out of the way next time." he adds, sourly.

Duly noted Heinrich. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't think there was a danger of knocking Heinrich out, but I was going off of Heinrich's hp totals in his header, my mistake. But with three clustered low-reflex enemies it seemed a reasonable opportunity to end the fight. Shouldn't be an issue after this scenario and I won't put you in the line of fire again, and in the event of your horrible maiming in this encounter will personally pay for the raise and restoration. No harm no foul?

@Archibald: If I had been at full hit points, I would not have minded in the slightest. However, when the spell has a very real chance of actually knocking me down, whilst the opponents do not (unless they really *really* well), I get just a tad nervous.

Please just ask, or IC request Heinrich step out of the way, first ;-)

He then hacks at the remaining scorpion.

After everyone (I think this means Heinrich?) is healed you move down the corridor into a room with;

Dozens of stalactites hang from this dark chamber's ceiling, which has been sculpted into the semblance of countless overlapping carapaces, as if many crabs were clinging to it in a mass. Two sets of stone stairs built into the northern portion of the room descend 10 feet to the ground floor of the chamber. A set of carved stone stairs
to the west leads further downward.

In the room is a squat but nevertheless large beetle moves with a swift scuttling motion. Its mandibles appear to be remarkably sharp and riding on top of it is a swollen cephalopod has ten writhing tentacles and a hideously monstrous face with pale, milky eyes on its bulbous body.

Beetle - Knowledge (Nature) DC 14:
This is a slicer beetle, it has a bite attack threatens a critical hit on a roll of 19–20. If a slicer beetle scores a critical hit on a target, its mandibles cut deep, resulting in a wound that causes 1d6 bleed and leaving its foe staggered for 1d3 rounds from the tremendous pain dealt.

@Archibald: How do you expect us to take them out at range if they are at the bottom of a pit? If they fall in, they only way we could see them is if we were flying over it, or standing at the edge... and doing so risks falling in.

Archibald also remembers that this type of beetle has wings underneath it carapace and use them to fly (poorly) and that the decapus tentacles must attack the same target - he can't spread it's attacks around

I haven't found a rule yet that says someone riding something can or can't make a separate reflex save to avoid falling along side it's mount..so going with my reasoning that since it's not fixed in stirrups or anything he can jump to the side just as well as when he was on the ground

As Archibald creates a pit underneath the beetle it falls into it, but the Decapus riding on top of it is able to jump of it's back to the side of the pit just in time to avoid falling.

@Archibald, it might have..but I didn't know what your check result would be going to be..so I only list minimum DC and give name and 1 thing that seems relevant, and it still did some damage

@Kalaron, you can't hit the Decapus with your axe attack with 1 move..also if you could you would end your movement next to the pit and you'd need to make a reflex save to avoid falling into the pit (underneath the beetle)..and since you can't reach the hovering beetle either with 1 move..I've just moved your 20ft forward for now..feel free to take a different standard action or use the attack as a ready

Since Cogstadt and Kalaron both sorta still get to take their turn, giving them some more time to do something. I'll update tomorrow when I get the chance. Archibald can decide if he wants to keep his action or do something else by the time his turn comes up.

Kalaron readies to take a swing in case something comes close enough to swat away while Cogstadt leans around the corner and shoots his crossbow, but the awkward angle makes his bolt shoot straight over his target into the wall, splintering.

The Decapus moves forward and tries to slap one of it's tentacles around Archibald
