The adventure was originally for newly created characters..they changed it to any lvl 1..so introduction to the Pathfinder Society by Balenar sometimes gets...odd
Balenar puts on his own gear.
"What are you plans now? Did you finish with the exploration of this tower and you plan to return to Absolom? If so, do you mind if I tag along and can you tell me all that you've encountered inside? I'd like to make a report out of it if I can"
Telos Phane |
"Like I said, you are welcome to join us. We are going to finish exploring the tower. We have already dealt with most of the inhabitants."
Telos prepares to open the next door. I can't tell if the next door just goes out to the balcony area...I'll open that, but if it doesn't go anywhere, back to the bunk room and then the northeast door.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
After checking to see that the room Balenar was in is a dead-end. You move to check out the other door on this floor you don't detect any thing that indicates the presence of the trap on the door so open it.
Inside you see:
Cracks in the walls and ceiling of this chamber have allowed rainwater to collect here, flooding the room and giving rise to a profusion of mold and fungus along the walls and ceiling.
Splashing around in the ankle deep puddles is a frog the size of a large dog. As it notices you opening the door it licks its lips and it's tongue flicks out towards you.

Allthough Dolgo Jessique's and Telos's attacks all miss Hskori manages to stagger the giant frog with a naginata strike.
Seeing the creature staggering around Nijena decides to do nothing. While Balenar moves in and kicks the frog unconscious The frog was at 0 hps...so he would have gone down if it did anything other then a single move anyways
Out of combat
Dolgo Pinkerton |
"Well I can't hit anything with this bow but I can carve this frog up for a snack."
Revvy Bitterleaf |
(Going to assume you take Telos suggestion and keep going upstairs)
As you make it up to the top of the tower;
The four wings of the tower are completely open on this level, forming one great, cross-shaped chamber with arched ceilings. The decayed remnants of a carpet run from the doorways at the end of each wing, meeting in the center, where a spiral staircase drops out of sight below. A large, throne-like chair stands in the middle of the eastern wing next to a big chest.
The ceiling is 20 feet high in this room; it is dimly lit by the daylight shining through the archways.
Behind the throne is an albino crocodile and standing in the archway looking out is a troglodyte, on his side hangs a scimitar and he's wearing a cloak.

Just to be clear..the white line between the yellowish part and the more white/greyish part is a wall, you need to go through a door(way) to the to the outer part of the tower

Dolgo shoots an arrow at the troglodyte and hits the creature just barely over the top of the throne in the side of it's skull before it even fully realizes that you guys are there.
Balenar starts to sing a song about misty mountains and being cold and you feel inspired (+1 to hit/damage)

He then moves away toward the door.
Telos Phane |
Unable to reach the troglodyte quickly because of the throne, Telos moves to the side and throws a javelin at it, hoping to disrupt the spell.
"Focus on the troglodyte first," Telos yells. "We'll finish off the croc later!"

Jessique will move to the top where she hears battle going on.
Another filthy creature. I feel I need a hot bath after all this
Jessique focuses and a ball of force forms in her palm. She points her palm at the troglodyte and it streaks across the room, crashing into its chest.
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Jessique sees the now downed troglodyte, she looks at the crocodile near it and grabs a little glib of pork fat from her spell pouch. She rubs her fingers together while recalls be a few arcane words. Underneath the scaly beast, the ground becomes slicker than the frozen tundra of the north.
cast grease, reflex DC 16 or prone. Targeting directly behind throne in corner (the NE area )

Dolgo fires another arrow, but only manages to hit the throne (doesn't hit AC)

@Jessique; Debatable with the throne in the way and him being around a corner..going to have to go with no for this one.
In order to keep things moving a bit, Jessique can take 2 turns (all though I'd really like for her first action to not effect the trog's action) and I'll start the next round

Hmmm, looks like I don't have much of a shot here. Hskori may have to finish him off (or is there space on that half-square between Hskori and the bad guy?
Revvy Bitterleaf |
I think you can stand there..but moving to it will provoke from Tasskar..but I think that Hskori most likely won't mind doing a retreat being at 1 hp as far as I can tell
Nijena moves closer to the troglodyte and the extra weight of another body causes a lot of strain on this part of the tower..cracks start to appear all along the floor and small pieces start to break off..followed by much, much larger pieces and pretty soon most of the overhanging part of the tower is falling away from underneath your feet
(Reflex save DC 15 to jump to safety, since it's a tall tower and you're 60 ft up in the air right now this means you will take 6d6 falling damage if you hit the ground. The adventure allows a generous GM to let falling characters make additional Reflex saves to try catch themselves on the exposed floors of the lower levels
before plummeting all the way to the ground. ..so let's assume I'm a nice GM ;) so keep rolling reflex saves until you make one or your failed 4 of them)

Revvy Bitterleaf |
Before we continue..just to check..nobody has a t-shirt or another way to get a re-roll and might want to use it on their first reflex save?
Nijena only takes 6 damage (1 floor is 15 feet, so only 1d6 falling damage for 1 floor, 3d6 for 2, 4d6 for 3 and 6d6 all the way down)
Damage Jessique: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) = 11
Hskori manages to make it to safety.
Since Tasskar doesn't have any way to heal himself and is staggered I'm going to rule he tries to escape (slowly) and combat's over ..unless you guys want to hunt him down
Which just leaves us trying to safe;
Telos from dying..who's at -5 with a 12 con..so there's 7 rounds to safe him
Jessique from dying who's at -4 with 12 con..so 6 rounds.
Anyone else under 0 hp?
Everyone who's bleeding out..start rolling stabilize checks and see if you manage to stabilize. Everyone else, I suggest..start coming up with a way to save at least one of them.
Balenar looks over the edge and seeds Telos and Jessique bleeding and runs for the stairwell to try reach one of them to try to help out.
