Fargrim Arikfind |
Artistic integrity!
"My, that does look sore." consoles the lovely Fargrim.
Ree Soiel |
Ree laughs a lilting sort of sound as she looks down at the rapier at her hip.
"Oh my sweet dear, if you want flashy crowd-gathering swordplay, it just walked in your front door!" She winks to the director.
(Yay I'm back sorry about that!)
GM Baerlie |
While the star actor rubs his wound Maestro Bellowskin continues to shout around. "I know what we are doing! You! You look like a man who can fight! You are going to replace Maximos! Some mask powder on your face and nobody will notice the difference!" an he starts to push Carax towards the makeup-table.
Lal Rhem |
Lal Rhem nods and smiles at Carax's predicament.
"This promises to be very interesting. Does it bother you, Master Belllowskin, that our friend here might not be able to act?"
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim looks at the director with interest.
What is he trying to do?
sense motive: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
"You would discard your lead for an unknown so easily? This should be interesting."
GM Baerlie |
"The talking scenes can be done by Maximos. It's just the fight he can't do, so we need a replacement. The understudy's wife just got her first child so he's at home."
Fargrim thinks that Bellowskin is just trying to save the play by finding a replacement fighter.
While you discuss what to do next and if Carax should be Maximos' action double something happens. about two minutes after Maximos hurt his arm
You hear a low scraping sound. It sounds like something's burrowing through the understage.
one round later
You smell a caustic stench, like acid.
Fargrim Arikfind |
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
"I see you are very concerned with the play. I'm sure it will be a great success..."
Lal Rhem |
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
"Does anybody else smell that interesting smell?"
Lal Rhem sniffs the air.
"Caustic... Like... Acid..."
He looks around curiously to see if he can identify the source of the smell.
Ree Soiel |
Ree looked all excited...right up until Carax got selected. The flame color of her hair seems to dim a bit as she sighs and pats the hilt of her sword, whispering to herself.
"მალე, საკმაოდ ბავშვი. მალე."
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
"I smell it too...something leaking backstage, director?"
Carax the Golden |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Hearing the other's warnings, Carax holds his banner in one hand and with his other, draws his longsword. He is ready to fight if something dreadful should appear.
"Pathfinders, to me!"
Everyone, please remember that the banner grants you a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, and saving throws against fear and charm effects.
GM Baerlie |
"What? What's up? Again?!" the director starts to shout again. But then he notices what's going on. A large magical beast with six legs bursts up from below the understage.
Ini Carx: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (17) + 0 = 17
Ini Ree: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22

Carax the Golden |
Someone please move my token adjacent to the monster, between monster and pillar. Thanks!
"For Taldor and the Pathfinders!" Carax charges the monster.
longsword and charge and Flagbearer: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 141d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 = 12
Current AC = 14
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim also hurries forward.
"Go away you horrible creature!" she says, thwacking it with her hand.

damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Snake Style AC vs first attack: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
Ree Soiel |
Ree grins, fire in her eyes at the chance for a fight where she can show off some!
She draws her sleek rapier as she (double) moves around behind the creature setting up a flank for Carax.
"Hey! Ugly! Over here!"
If it attacks her Ree will spend 1 point of panache to attempt a parry!
Parry: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
If the parry roll is greater than the attack roll, she will riposte!
Riposte: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
GM Cody |
Heroically Carax charges forward, swinging with abandon at the Ankheg, however it is Fargrim's blow that lands surely. Aramil summons his mystical energy into a glimmer armor of force around his body while Ree dashes around behind the large beetle-like creature.
Still finding its feet after bursting from the ground, it fails to even have the chance to bite at Ree.
Chaotically, the stage actors continue to run around, mad with fright.

I'm stepping up to continue this scenario, I've read it over and feel confident I can provide to you a top quality experience :)
GM Cody |
Lal, stupefied by the appearance of such a bizarre creature stands stunned into inaction.
The beast with unnatural like grace will swing about attacking with its vicious, acid-soaked mandibles.
Carax-1, Ree-2, Fargrim-3: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Taking the bait and angered by her taunting his mandibles clamp down on Ree!
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Ah but the creature goes careening off by her well placed parry, burying its mandibles in the ground as it misses!

Thanks for keeping me on it, I apologize for missing your riposte!
Ree delivers a particulary nasty blow to the Ankheg as it buries its mandibles in the ground and follows up with another vicious stab! Its clacks its mandibles in pain and anger!

Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim continues to beat on the big creature with her fists.
attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
"I think I prefer facing people, although this does negate the ethical dilemma faced with them."
Carax the Golden |
Carax circles left, making room for Fargrim. He is fired up by the appearance of the beast and attacks with fury but without much accuracy.
Longsword, flanking and Flagbearer: 1d20 + 2 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 4 + 1 = 101d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6
Everyone (including Ree and Fargrim) should be taking a +1 to hit and damage from Flagbearer
GM Cody |
Lal winds up a magic missile pitch, firing three missiles off at the giant magic bug!
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (3, 4, 4) + 3 = 14
the two wizards batter the Giant bug, damaging him severely!
Angered and hurt the Ankheg will lash out spitting a line of smoking acid catching Fargrim and Lal in it however this exertion causes it to keel over dead, its legs curling up as it lays in a pool of acidic blood. It was staggered and as its dying action does its acid spit
Reflex Save from Lal and Fargrim DC 14: 4d4 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 4) = 13
I've tried reaching out to Lal's owner, its been over a month since he posted, I am not really sure how to handle that. I'll bot him for now and give them time to see the game is running again
Combat is over! Good job guys!
Maestro Bellowskin comes running out from inside the Amphitheater, cheering "Great job! That was really astounding, truly amazing!" looking around at you guys, "Now did you have any more questions for me?"
Fargrim Arikfind |
reflex: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
Fargrim, never blessed with great reflexes, cannot avoid the stream of acid.
"Arrghhhh" she cries.
"At least its dead now."
CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Fargrim Arikfind |
"Well.. it may have been a tragedy if we weren't here.." notes Fargrim.
"[b]Which may well be why we are here. Should we explore here a bit more, or see if we can find a clue as to the next ill omen we need to thwart?[b]"
Fargrim Arikfind |
"No.." admins Fargrim worriedly.
"We were acting on the results of a Harrow reading. I should be able to fix up Flavicomos arm if you give me a moment as well if you wish. After all, the play must go on!"
heal: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
If that is not enough, she can also use CLW
Fargrim Arikfind |
"yes.." says Fargrim. "There were a number. The Betrayal, The Cricket, and The Unicorn. The one that seemed to point here was The Cricket."
Fargrim wonders why he was curious about it.
sense motive: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
GM Cody |
Looking around sheepishly, "Ah well . . ya see, earlier today, we sold a packet of the troupe’s “mask powder” to a Varisian fortune-teller who repeatedly asked if the magic could make her appear Qadiran, I'm not really sure why but now it seems kind of suspicious. . As to the cards, if they are omens about places around town, I know of a well to do inn known as The Frisky Unicorn. . Maybe check there next for another ill omen?"
Fargrim Arikfind |
"How odd...Why would a Varisian fortune teller want to appear Qadiran? Thank you very much!
She looks around at the group. "I guess that Frisky Unicorn is our next stop.."
I'm happy to move on if others want to.
GM Cody |
As you guys wander through Magnimar, looking for the Frisky Unicorn, some of you may know the location, others might have to ask. If you guys need to make any purchases, you kind of have a chance to do that while you walk through town
Located in the Citadel Crest district, its easy to find within the district and its well known that wealthy visitors consider staying at the Frisky Unicorn a must for not only the first class service but also to try and catch a glimpse of the famous pseudodragons who roost in the lodge’s turret.
Pseudodragons are carnivores, devouring insects, rodents, small birds, and snakes, though they sometimes eat eggs, and most also enjoy butter, cheese, and fish. They either hunt on the ground like lizards or look for prey on the wing like a raptor. As smart as a typical humanoid, they do not enjoy being treated as pets and prefer being treated as friends.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Takes ten on diplomacy for an 18
"The inn is located in the Citadel Crest district, its easy to find within the district and its well known that wealthy visitors consider staying at the Frisky Unicorn a must for not only the first class service but also to try and catch a glimpse of the famous pseudodragons who roost in the lodge’s turret."
"I've always wanted to see a dragon!"
Ree Soiel |
Ree looks at Carax with a grin and shrugs. "Something sort of like that I'd guess based on the name?"
Carax the Golden |
"Well, I guess there's one good way to find out. Shall we?" Carax holds the door open for the ladies, knowing they'd make a better entrance than he would.
Aramil Wizard |
Know local: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Know arcana: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Aramil relays the information to the party as well as the location of the inn.
"I've wanted to meet one of the creatures. My mother's uncle had one as a pet. He was a wizard. Inspired me to the arcane arts. But he died before I was born."
GM Cody |
Sorry guys, my refrigerator went out last night and that was a whole thing and I didn't get the chance to post :\
As you guys roll up to the Frisky Unicorn, you hear a cacophony of shrieks and growls from within. Periodically, tiny dragons dart out of windows in the turret before flying into other rooms to wreak havoc.
The front door hangs ajar and as you guys no doubt rush inside to investigate, This spacious lobby features comfortable couches and tables laden with refreshments. Guests lounge on the couches, speculating idly about what could have pseudodragons so upset. The guests’ theories are fanciful, and none of them is remotely close to the truth. Their most popular theory is that the inn’s proprietor, Oliver Cadmion, decided to start charging them rent. A stack of flyers for the Green Market can be found on one table.
A number of servants stand idly by their eyes glued to the kitchen where it seems the majority of the commotion is happening where a large and loud argument can be heard taking place.
How do you guys want to proceed? It seems like you've arrived just as pandemonium has struck
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim glances at the flyerss Always interesting to see what our patron is up to before poking her nose into the kitchen.
"Hello there... we were just wondering what was going on?"
