Hello all!

Kajar, level 1 half-orc ranger. This will be my 2nd PFS scenario and PbP. I appreciate any and all constructive criticism and feedback you have to offer.

I am aware that playing up will be a challenge, but that is fine by me. I prefer to challenge my characters and understand that failure has consequences... Not that Kajar will be failing of course!

I might ask some really basic questions about PFS or PbP, please bear with me!

I've been playing various iterations of D&D/Pathfinder for 20 years, so I understand the game itself. These aspects, though, are still a bit new. I am a huge fan of the Pathfinder game and am always looking to improve my game as both a player and a DM.

One more thing- Recruitment thread mentioned playing pregens- if this helps form a group I would be ok playing one, but I'm not sure what that entails, so I might need some guidance there.

I'm looking forward to the game!

Just so that you know what you will be getting yourselves into;

I will roll initiative for everyone.
If you have anything special to use during rolling of initiative - such as tactics domain power - or you have an ability that gives you a bonus in a certain type of environment, please let me know.
Most of the time enemies of the same type will go on the same initiative roll, if I think this would be incredibly unfair to you I might split them up - decided on a case by case basis

I will then group it so that it will be players-enemies-players-enemies

If your name is up in bolt you can post. I'll assume that the order in which things are posted will be the order in which they take place unless you add a comment that you are delaying till after something happens/someone else has acted. If you want to ready an action, please add a comment that it's a ready and include any die rolls needed for your readies action. I'll fit in everything in the order it's supposed to take place in. If some reason some action can't take place anymore I'll adept the a bit to what seems logical (to me) at the time or if there's still time to change your action allow you to do so.

I'll try to check-in a few times a day and post at least once (maybe more depending if I have the time)

If someone hasn't posted for a day once their name came up as bold I reserve the right to put you on delay or NPC you in (which will most of the time be go fully defensive or move to a safe location).

If you haven't posted for more then 2 days I will delay/NPC you in as soon as you are the last one to act, even if 24 hours hasn't passed yet.
If I haven't seen a post from you in over a week without prior notice I will put you on permanent delay until I see a post again.

Example:

Player 1 + readied action player 2
Enemy 1
Player 3, Player 4
Enemy 2, Enemy 3

Damage Enemy 1: X (blinded)

I will sometimes use spoiler blocks with a listed skill and DC, if you make the DC you are free to look at the spoiler and act on the information provided.
This will most of the time include (but not be limited to): (Monster) knowledge checks [If I didn't provide one, you can still roll for knowledge checks..I might just forgot about it or only had time for a quick update]
Some hidden stuff needing perception checks to be found, you can still search for stuff when you feel like it it, but for example looting a room after combat it helps speed things up.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them

1 person marked this as a favorite.

@Kajar; On playing pregens. Paizo has made a few pregenerated characters at higher lvls for when you don't have a character in range of a scenario and you want to play anyway. You can play one of these pre build characters instead of your own and still get a chronicle, which doesn't apply straight away but is rather put on hold untill your own character reaches the lvl of the pregen played.

So in this case you could play a lvl 4 (cleric, wizard, warrior, gunslinger, etc your choice out of those available) instead of your own lvl 1, but it would mean you own character would get to apply the chronicle until he reaches lvl 4

Pregens can be found at: http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/playerResources

on the right side under free downloads, there's a link to pregenerated characters

I've send private message as a reminder to the people who showed interest in playing, so let's hope at least 3 more show up

Feel free to go to to the gameplay tab and start playing through. Once you've made a post there it's also easier to keep track of updates since it will show up in your campaign tab of your profile

Thanks Revvy! Looks like Kajar is a go, and I appreciate the information. I try to post every day as long as there is something to say.

The only thing you need for Kajar is he gets a +2 favored enemy bonus vs. humans, this includes attack and damage rolls, BAB and CMB rolls, Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive and Survival checks, and this bonus is not in his stat block.

I will update his profile shortly to include the items he got in his last Scenario.

Hey everyone, I'll be joining the game. :)

Since this is my first forum game on this forum, I'll quickly test some coding here. Will repeat some stuff in the game thread.

Diplomacy: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9 roll in preview was 9, checking if it stays the same. A short, but seemingly strong dwarf enters the pub. He wears a scale-male vest, old, probably a family heirloom, which bears the crest of the five kings mountains. Strapped to his back is an axe that looks way too long for him, almost an helbard. His hear is a dark red. He wouldn't look too bad, if not for the large blue tatoo which covers much of his face (and probably a large part of his body as well).

Did they drink a potion or cast a spell? Or was the mirror image a supernatural ability? (for attacks of opportunity) I just counted 2 standard actions, so I may be missing something.

They use the copycat cleric domain power of the trickery domain which is a move action to create 1 mirror image

Which is a spell-like ability, and provokes AoO I believe, no?

"Using a spell-like ability works like casting a spell in that it requires concentration and provokes attacks of opportunity. Spell-like abilities can be disrupted. If your concentration is broken, the attempt to use the ability fails, but the attempt counts as if you had used the ability. The casting time of a spell-like ability is 1 standard action, unless the ability description notes otherwise."

Just to inform you; Monday afternoon till somewhere around Wednesday late in the evening I'll be traveling for work. During which time I may or may not (most likely not) have access to the internet.

So I might not be able to update for the next few days.

Rolling for boons, same order as I've rolled initiative. On a 1 or 20 you get to choose one from a list I will message you;

Buri: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Kajar: 1d20 ⇒ 3
Ulfgar: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Myrayah: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Velinov: 1d20 ⇒ 12
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 8

Scarab Sages

Myrayah is the lucky one. Looking up the list of options now and I'll let her know what she can choose from, please let me know which one you choose as soon as you can so I can report it along with the rest of the info.

Thank you, GM Revvy and also Myrayah, Ulfgar, Buri and Velinov! That was a lot of fun!

I'd like to cross off "Disrupt or sabotage a significant Aspis Consortium operation, such as by ruining an alliance, damaging its reputation in a large city, or preventing them from recovering an artifact." in my Faction Journal Card. Can I do that?

No day job.

Thanks all, was fun. I hope to see you again.

Scarab Sages

@Ulfgar, I'd say this counts as disrupting a significant Apsis consortium operation ;)

And yes, you did prevent them from recovering an artifact (The Sky Key in this case)

Just to check, is everyone aware of the holiday boon?

Post about the boon

(There's a download link for a one shot boon at the bottom of the blog post)

About the boon sheet, do we fill it out ourselves?

Scarab Sages

Just to update you guys; game has been reported for the game day

I've put a link to the holiday boon; Here in case you want a "signed" one - You still need to fill in your own personal data.

Working on getting the scenario chronicles, which takes a bit more time since I need to fill in more stuff..and my mouse is acting up..so I'll finish those tomorrow.

Since you got an overwhelming victory you can choose 2 of the boons listed (cross out the other 2 options)

Liberty's Edge

Wizard 4 (Illusionist) - HP 30/30 , AC (15 Mage Armor, Ring +1) 11/T: 15/FF: 10 - Perception +4 - F: +3/ R: +1/ W: +4 - CMB: 1 - CMD: 11, Speed: 30, Init. +6

I guess I'll take "Starkissed Sand" if you plan on handing it out in the chronicle.

Are there more than 2 choices? Just curious what you mean here:

Since you got an overwhelming victory you can choose 2 of the boons listed (cross out the other 2 options)

Scarab Sages

@Velinov; Yes there are 4 options (1 for caster, 1 for martials, 1 for skill monkeys and 1 more general one), you should be able to see what they are now

If I've done everything correctly and didn't make any cut&paste errors each of you should have received a link to your chronicle now.

In case you spot anything you think is wrong let me know and I'll try to fix it

Question for anyone who knows the answer- again, new to PFS so thanks for bearing with me-

Does the accomplishment need to be completed by the character alone, or is being part of the situation count? Also Grand Lodge and would like to cross off this or "Defeat one or more members of the Aspis Consortium in an encounter whose CR is at least equal to your character level." (Which would be 1)

Thanks!

Scarab Sages

For the defeat one of more creatures; you are allowed to cross those off if you actively participated in the fight (even if you never made an attack..as long as you tried to heal/cast buff spells/set up a flank) you helped defeat him/her/it.

Thanks you for the clarification. Cheers!
