Between Umaga, Jarlaxle and myself we have 200' of rope. Creat takes 10 (for a total of 15), 4 times, to climb down the cliff. I'm not sure there's a rise on the other side.... GM? If there is he has his own grappling hook and he ascends at the same steady pace (unless he's being chased by owlbears).
perception (owlbears?): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Ray Hogan |
"Hey!"
Ray rubs his head where smacks, but grins just the same.
"Well, I will say this. This has been the most bizarre task I have ever been sent on. Anyone have a floating spell?"
Michael_Hopkins |
Creat, searching for owlbear, instead finds another game path that leads to a slope down into the canyon as well as noticing that there is a similar path on the other side.
Kalkamedes Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Meanwhile, under the careful watch of Jarlaxle and Umaga, the sleepwalking pathfinder make little progress as he tries to walk forward.
Jarlaxle Baenre |
"Right then, Let's haul him along the game trails. I think this is going to take all of us, though."
I think we we should shorten the length of rope we are hauling him by, at least for the moment, so if he *does* fall, he doesn't go all the way to the bottom.
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23.
Michael_Hopkins |
That would be a sight to see!
Kalkamedes Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Struggling against Jarlaxle, the sleepwalking man is guided down the game trail and back up, across the canyon. Great bands of stars sweep across the cloudless night sky, illuminating a series of game trails that chase through the mountain shrubs and berry bushes. As they wander the shrubbery, the group comes across a bear in the area.
Place yourselves in the orange rectangle please. :)
Michael_Hopkins |
Nuuu, the board ate my post! I hate it when it does that.
Kalkamedes STR: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
With some tugging, Jarlaxle manages to guide Kalkamedes far enough away from the bear that the large creature decides that the group seems to mean no harm. After wandering through the game trails, still somewhat following the sleepwalking man, the group slowly makes their way around the bear and continue on their path. Over the course of another two hours, the rough, mountainous scrubland gradually flattens and gives way to thicker copses of trees sustained by a series of chilly, narrow streams. Kalkamedes’s trail meanders northward...

Stealth 3: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Stealth 4: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Map is updated. I placed Creat about 30' ahead of the group, unless he wants to get closer. If you do want to be out that far, I'll need a perception check.

With a slight chuckle the woman looks at the group, "Ah, that may be true. Still, I'd like you to hand over your items." With a slight shuffling in the trees and shrubbery, there is the glint of iron in the moonlight. "But if no, I'm glad to forcefully take the toll from your corpses."
Michael_Hopkins |
Yay life stuff that happens at horrible times! *cries a little* Okay, let's get back to this.
"Aye, they sure are laddie. Now, since your elf there wants our loot, I think we may be at an impasse," the soman says as she shrugs.

Party up!
GM Tektite |
Jarlaxle easily takes down the remaining bandit.
Out of Combat!
Searching the bandits, you find each carried padded armor with camouflage, sling with 10 bullets, light mace, and sap.
As the party gathers your things and heals yourselves, Kalkamedes continues his dogged somnambulism. Following him, you see he journeys north and then gradually gravitates to the northwest for two more hours.
At that time, the light of the sinking moon washes the sub-alpine valley ahead in silvery light. A squat, stone bunker crafted of dark rock sits nestled among the low trees, its domed roof barely peeking out from above the leafy canopy. As a cloud passes over the moon, the entire structure seems to fade from view, leaving a momentary void before the moon’s light again illuminates it. Only a single entryway mars the smooth, windowless facade of the lone building.
Kalkamedes seems to make directly for the entrance.
GM Tektite |
Someone will need to make a Craft (cartography) or Knowledge (geography) check or a Survival check to mark the position of the edifice.
As you appraoch the structure, you see a ten-foot wide stone archway, its keystone inscribed with a seven-pointed star wreathed in ancient markings, offers ingress into an unlit corridor built of cut stone blocks. Weathered script snakes its way up and down each side of the entrance.
Paw prints of dried mud left by animals show regular ingress and egress.
GM Tektite |
Apologies. I posted here on Friday, but apparently it didn't take or was eaten. I hadn't seen any new posts and was busy this weekend, so I hadn't checked it.
Entering the structure, the party passes down a long hall that ends in a set of stairs leading south. The steep stairs descend into room, whose only other entrance is sealed by a massive set of iron double doors that block passage to the east and rest upon a dais of glistening black stone. To the west stands a statue of an elderly, robed man carved from the same dark stone, and in his hand he brandishes a slender golden wand that points toward the door. Ancient script winds around the statue’s round base, and dried leaves, dirt, and small animal bones are scattered about the room.
