The summons was sudden and unexpected. One moment news was traveling around Absalom of the strange crystalline ship that appeared in Absalom’s harbor, defying the Harbor Guard’s defenses and attempts at interdiction, and the next instant a young Pathfinder, acting as courier, brought Venture-Captain Adril Hestram. The meeting occurred in the streets outside the Grand Lodge even as Hestram was coming. The facts of the matter were that a strange, seemingly derelict ship had indeed appeared in the harbor, it appeared to be of ancient Azlanti make, and the Pathfinders wanted the first crack at it. A clandestine meeting was set up at Harbormaster’s Grange with Hestram and the First Harbormaster.

Upon arrival, Goodman Hugen of House Candren, a Grand Councilman and First Harbormaster, looks up from his cluttered. He quickly shoos away his secretary and walks around his desk to point out his window towards an ominously shaped vessel floating far out in the harbor.

“Thank you for bringing them, Adril. The vessel first appeared at second watch. No one saw it enter the harbor and there was no warning of its approach through the Flotsam Graveyard. One instant the harbor was clear and the next instant it was there. According to the few eye witnesses we could find, it seemingly just faded into existence there in the water. Our gillmen and Wave Rider scouts reconnoitered it initially and reported there to be no signs of life on its decks and that it was seemingly constructed of a single piece of seamless, opaque white crystal. The Harbor Guard and Wave Riders immediately set up a cordone around the vessel to contain any threat it represented and the First Guard and Starwatch were placed on alert.”

“When no threat appeared imminent we sent a Harbor Guard boarding party. They reported the top decks to be completely deserted and all access to the ship’s interior to be blocked off by a single sealed portal. Indecipherable glyphs are incised all throughout the ship’s hull but there is actual writing on the bow. We took copies from the bow to the city’s sages, and the script was identified as Azlanti. It translates as King Xeros, which we believe to be the ship’s name. Old travelers’ tales tell of a ghost ship that wanders the Great Beyond; it is sometimes referred to as the King Xeros of Old Azlant, a magical vessel launched by the Azlanti shortly before Earthfall. We think this may be the very same vessel here in our own harbor."

“This is where you Pathfinders come in. We believe the ship to be the self-same King Xeros and an artifact of the ancient Azlanti. We need to get inside the ship and find out what secrets it holds and if any danger exists. Since it’s old Azlanti, we figure it’s all kinds of magic and mysteries six ways to Oathday. The sages want a crack at it, but we think it’ll take more than just brains to get into it as it might be trapped or guarded. You Pathfinders are known for your ability to deal with this kind of prehistoric stuff and handle yourselves in a tight spot, so that’s why I’m turning to you. The last thing I need is a dozen dead scholars and some monstrosity from beyond time unleashed on the city. I need you to get on board that ship, find a way inside, do a bit of poking around, and figure out if this is something I should be worried about or if it just happens to be the discovery of the millennium. Your lodge has graciously extended the offer of your services if you’re agreeable, and you will of course have the opportunity to investigate and report on this phenomenon in your chronicles. I haven’t got a lot of time here, so I need your answer relatively quickly before this mystery turns into a fullblown crisis.”

A massive man stands there, not taking notes, but committing certain details to memory as the Venture Captain speaks. Mainly the glory and prestige, and even allowing his mind to hear what he wants to hear in regards to battle. Thor looks very similar to a Dwarf, or at least the variety found in this realm, though he stands some six or seven feet tall. He wears an oddly designed armor that seems newly crafted, though clearly he wears it with comfort and familiarity. His only weapon is likewise a very oddly designed, and very heavy appearing hammer, nearly the size of a giant's sledge hammer, though he carries it in one hand with little effort. As he listens, he opens his pack, a small, incredibly bulging bag, and with one hand draws a keg. Dropping his pack to the ground, he uses it as a seat as he taps it, taking a drink of a very strong smelling alcohol in his drinking horn, and motions for others to feel free in joining in.

"It will not be the first mystical "ghost" ship I've encountered or dealt with, my friends, so worry not. It sounds like fun, and so, as your people say, "I'm in"."

This is Uktar, playing Lila.

You see an extremely attractive female half-elf walk into the room with small steps, wearing full geisha attire, with little more than a haramaki to indicate she's there to do more than just serve tea.

"Greetings, fellow pathfinders. My name is Lila Andreas-Salome." She respectfully tilts her head before continuing. "I am an enchantress of some ability, and I am always quick to offer an inspiring word or two. It is my honor to put my skills and magic at your disposal."

Then she offers a pristine bow, before adding. "And with all due respect to Master Shaine, I am a Master of Scrolls in my own right. I would be delighted to put those skills at your disposal as well."

Again, to my fellow players considering purchases: any kind of buff or healing scrolls that aren't range of personal, Lila's caster level 10 when she uses any scroll.

Lila turns to the host. "It is a pleasure to meet such an august personage as yourself, Goodman Hugen, and may House Candren enjoy the gods' blessings in perpetuity. It would be our honor to aid you in your investigations. Do you have any other useful information you might be able to share about the vessel, or anything happening in its vicinity since if first appeared?"

Lila begins rummaging through her haversack, consulting various chronicles and scrolls.

Despite its disappearance from known Golarion history, the King Xeros was not erased entirely from the annals of time, for it continued to roam the Ethereal Plane on its endless mission. Reports began to trickle into planar cities and Material backwaters of a crystal ghost ship that plied the gray mists, appearing unexpectedly and disappearing just as suddenly. Boarding parties never found any trace of the original crew and many vanished altogether as the ether ship made a sudden disappearance. Many an Ethereal treasure hunter sought the King Xeros and the fabled riches or eldritch secrets it was said to carry, but only the occasional report from some itinerant traveler told of sightings of the lost ship as it slipped through the Deep Ethereal.

With preparations complete, the party departs for their ride.

***

Your Harbor Guard sloop makes its way slowly and cautiously out toward the mysterious visitor. As the sloop draws nearer, details of the vessel become clear. It only superficially resembles a ship, with a symbol-covered hull of quartz glowing with a rosy tint in the wan light of evening. A tall aft castle of strangely faceted crystal rises from its stern sprouting from its sides giant, winglike sails of the same crystal that hang parallel to the water. It bears a split bow, between which rises a gigantic black spike towering over 60 feet into the air. It is the only portion of the ship that does not seem to made of the same opaque crystal. The main deck is uneven, broken into several subdecks. From a distance, one can make out the faint lines of decks and compartments through the crystal hull, but these these fade quickly upon closer inspection.

Arrayed around the vessel at a distance of perhaps a quarter mile is a ring of other Harbor Guard vessels, from sloops to cutters to dinghies; they seem to have turned out everything that could float in order to contain this potential menace. Within this cordone of vessels can be seen the forms of hippocampus-mounted Wave Riders patrolling closer in and even under the derelict hulk. A single accomodation ladder hangs over the port side just abaft of the fore deck, a shallowdraft barge moored at its foot, a sign that at least one patrol of the Harbor Guard still remains on board keeping watch over the upper decks of the mystery ship.

The lapping of water against the ship’s hull is drowned out by the sounds of sudden screams from the ship’s main deck, and flaring bursts from fiery explosions suddenly illuminate its superstructure. The Harbor Guards already aboard appear to have come under attack and cries of pain echo over the waters of the harbor.

Silver Crusade

Lila would have casted Mage Armor and Ant Haul (from scrolls) before boarding our HG sloop. Also, she would like to cast Monkey Fish and See Invisibility (again from scrolls) when we're a minute or two from reaching the King Xeros--if that would've been before the sounds of struggle reached the group. If not, then just first 2 spells. Also, on the offchance these may be relevant:
initiative: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (17) + 15 = 32
knowledge check on any beasties spotted: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 unless it's Kn-Arcana. Then assume Lila takes ten for 32. (She'll always Take 10 if it's Kn-Arcana.)

Grasping my hammer in one hand, I'll begin swinging it around in a circle vigorously, holding it by the small cord attached to the handle, and with the other hand, I'll grab one end of a rope, dropping it from my pack.

"Anyone that needs a lift, grab on."

Once everyone that wants to has grabbed onto the rope, I'll make a motion like I'm flinging my hammer as hard as I can, but continue to hold onto the leash, soaring into the air towards the King Xeros's deck. As I fly closer, I'll start trying to see if I can find the source of the screaming and seeking those in need of aid.

Silver Crusade

Lila casts Monkey Fish on herself, thinking to herself that it would be much too undignified to dangle from some strange northerner's rope.

Flying up, the party quickly catches sight of the King Xeros's exotic multi-decked surface that seems to lack any sort of railing. Despite there being no railing, there are ominous plinths, lumps, and nodules situated here and there along the edges of the deck.

The harbor guard are scattered across the ship's upper decks. Four are very clearly dead - messily crushed to death. Their killers appear to be two large crystalline constructs which the remaining harbor guard struggles in vain to fend off. In addition, two six foot crystal plinths fire arcs of flame through the air at the beleaguered guards periodically.

Attack (Slow, Power Attack, Magic, Adamantine, Inspire Courage, Strength Surge, Rage, Bull's Strength, Weapon Focus, Enlarge Person): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28
Damage: 3d6 + 21 ⇒ (5, 3, 1) + 21 = 30

Just a head's up guys/gals, two, or maybe one more good hit might kill me, (drop out of rage), and I'm not sure your magic will affect it. We might need to regroup, and as it stands, I may not be able to heal myself next round. I don't mean this as blame, I really didn't realize I was the only frontlineish character until I'd already rushed in.

Silver Crusade

Helikon, Lila already put Communal Resist Energy Fire on herself, Seoni and you, which should've reduced the damage you took to just 4 (i.e. you already have Resist Energy Fire 20 up). So nperhaps you want to take different action? (e.g. Heal Thor)

Silver Crusade

HP 79/79 (97/97 raging), Init +2, AC: 19 22, T: 12, FF: 19, CMD: 21 (-2 for Rage), F: +12, R: +5, W: +9, (+4 vs Wind, +2 vs Spells, Poison, +2 vs Party Spells, immune to fog/mist/smoke, Protect from Evil) Perception +10 <Darkvision 60ft, Heightened Continual Flame>, CG Asgardian (dwarf) Warpriest 6/Blood Rager 3 Avenger 9, Mjolnir: +8/+3, 2d6+12, Ranged: +11/+6, 2d6+7 (20/x2) B

I didn't take any fire damage. It's all physical, but due to size and reach, I couldn't withdraw last (this) round, and 2d6 healing isn't going to matter enough. I don't want to force anyone to be a healbot, (as I hate when it happens to me), but at the same time, if I withdraw to regenerate a bit, that's going to leave you three very vulnerable.

Now, that being said, a Haste, Obscuring Mist (which I can see through perfectly fine), or Invisibility on the party might do a lot of good.

Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 +2 if it is a fear

aaaand i'm slowed too, so i'm not able to draw a wand. Another action then:

Seoni draws a shaving of licorice root and casts haste on all party members, dispelling the slow affecting Thor and herself and boosting others.

Fort: 1d20 ⇒ 4

One of the golems begins to slow as the chill from Lila's snowball penetrates its limbs. It still staggers forward implacably.

Thor lands another solid blow that leaves the construct teetering. Seoni's arcane missiles pelt one of the turrets but barely leave a dent. They have hardness 10.

Slam vs Lila: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
Damage: 2d10 + 7 ⇒ (1, 2) + 7 = 10

Slam vs Thor: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22
Damage: 2d10 + 7 ⇒ (9, 6) + 7 = 22

Slam vs Thor: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28
Damage: 2d10 + 7 ⇒ (10, 3) + 7 = 20

The plinths fire again.

Touch vs Helikon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Fire Damage: 6d6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 3, 4, 1) + 1 = 19

The party is up.

Consider plz the change of my previous turn: using wand ---> casting haste. I wasn't able to use wand that turn anyway coz of slow effect from golem's spell (needed either move action to draw wand and standart to use it)

If previous turn's action change counts:
Seoni touches Thor and invisible shield of force appeares in fron of him. cast shield. + 4 AC for 7 minutes

If it doesn't:
Seoni draws a shaving of licorice root and casts haste on all party members, dispelling the slow affecting Thor and herself and boosting others.
