Deep beneath the Pathfinder Society’s headquarters in Absalom’s Grand Lodge, an otherwise austere stone chamber now teems with activity, as Pathfinder scholars scamper across several levels of wooden scaffolding surrounding a large tapestry laid out in the center of the floor. Some examine the five-by-seven foot tapestry with magnifying glasses or magical lenses, while others work diligently at small work desks, consulting ancient tomes and performing complex arcane mathematics. From the crowd steps the Master of Spells, Aram Zey, who motions to a relatively clear and quiet corner of the room. Arriving in the corner, he speaks in a hushed voice.

“I am very busy, Pathfinders, so I’ll keep this short. Before you lies the mythical Hao Jin Tapestry, the result of all our efforts to win the Ruby Phoenix Tournament in Goka this year. I know it looks like a ragged piece of abstractly woven cloth, but Pathfinders of your experience should know that looks can be deceiving. Within that rag lies an entire world, a demiplane created by the sorceress Hao Jin to hold the most massive and dangerous exhibits in her world-renowned collection of wonders. In addition to housing the extraplanar museum, the tapestry also acts as the sole portal into that wondrous world. And now it is ours to explore and research as much as we want with no risk of interference.
My scholars have been hard at work analyzing the tapestry itself, and the Society’s diviners have located a number of treasures within the demiplane that we want investigated firsthand. Among them is the long-lost Dog Pharaoh’s Tomb, for which we’ve been searching for decades. It turns out the deserts of Osirion were the wrong place to look. Hao Jin moved it into the tapestry a thousand years ago!
Your mission is to explore the tomb and recover any treasures you might find particularly valuable from the Dog Pharaoh’s doubtlessly substantial horde. Along the way, keep an eye out for any information on the Dog Pharaoh’s life, as details on him beyond his name are scarce. If you are successful, this could be among the most significant finds in recent Pathfinder history, so don’t disappoint me.
Any questions before you go into the tapestry?”

Well.. I hope that isn't an indication of how this is going to go...

Eladrian listens attentively to the Master of Spells as he briefs the Pathfinders on their mission. When Aram is finished, he asks "How will we enter and exit the Tapestry, and what will we find within? Will we just appear at the mouth of this tomb??

I would like to buy two flasks of holy water before we go messing with any tombs!]

A second half-elf lounges against one of the nearby workbenches. He’s a tall, long-limbed man with hints at elven blood in the turn of his eyes and ears. Everything else about him is basically every Varisian stereotype you’ve ever heard. Layered traveler’s clothes still with road dust on them, a brightly-colors kapenia hanging around his neck, and beautifully-rendered tattoos covering every portion of his exposed skin. In fact, if you had to guess, most folks on Golarion could live a few years off the amount of gold spent on those tattoos. The only thing that stands out is a beautiful, curved Tien blade hanging across his back.

He gives each of his teammates a quick look, idly shuffling a deck of cards as the Master of Scrolls outlines the mission. He’s the picture of careless indifference, unless you watch his gray, tilted eyes … which remain focused intensely on first Master Zey, then the tapestry itself.

This seems like a situation for Know: history, geography, or planes. All I have is Geography of those, so I’ll try that and Local (to possibly improve upon Eladrian’s attempt)
Know (Geography): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Know (Local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

”So we get in, find this tomb, explore a bit, take what we can, and learn what we can. Seems straightforward enough.”

Jal nods along with Eladrian’s questions, then raises dark eyebrows at the gnome’s words. He gives Lorelandral an appraising look, ”You’ve been in before? Guess that makes you our practical expert, *cara.”

*cara = “friend” in Varisian

Those knowledge rolls probably wouldn't give you anything, even if there were any listed in the scenario. I will improvise something if anyone can make a decent planes or history roll.
@Eladrian: You do have time for some last-minute shopping, so no worries there.

Aram Zey lays an impatient, yet professional eye on Eladrian.

"I will harness the innate power of the tapestry to transport you to within a mile of the tomb. Leaving again is quite simple. Our analysis indicates that a creature entering the tapestry leaves a planar eddy in its wake, which should be visible and usable only by that creature as long as it remains alive. So return to the location of your arrival and you should know what to do."

Myrdon is a young Varisian human man with dusky skin, with long braided hair tied up in a top knot. He is dressed in light and gaudy clothes, clearly meant to catch your eye than to fade into the crowd. Other than the bright robes he's wearing, he is bedecked with pouches which strange smells emanating from them, case stuffed with scrolls, and wands hanging from his belt. He stands there with an easy smile but there appears a distant haunted look in his eyes if you look closely enough. Strangely, Myrdon does not appear to bear any tattoos that typical Varisians would.

"Fascinating, most fascinating! A portal into another dimension!" Myrdon stares at the tapestry, with perhaps more than just idle curiosity. He realises that he is staring and quickly spins to face the rest of the party. With a deep bow, he introduces himself. "Kind sirs and ladies, my name is Myrdon Gharthrin. Pleased to make of your acquaintance, and I am sure this journey would be an exciting one! Jal, pleased to meet a fellow Varisian. I've been away from our homelands for way too long. And Lorelendral, glad to have you lead the way!" He gestures to the roc standing next to him, and continues, "Oh, and this is Aegis. Aegis the 2nd really. His predecessor died a tragic death in the tentacles of a gargantuan planar monster whilst defending me. Sigh. Aegis II is still quite untrained though, so please forgive him."

Speak of the devil. :) Myrdon doesn't know darkvision, but can certainly cast it from a scroll if you have one. Good idea actually.

At that, Aegis II squawks in response, but not to anyone in particular. He is clearly a juvenile but is already the height of a man. He is mostly white-feathered but with dark brown streaks in his plumage. Like Myrdon, he is gaudily decorated with bright colored and glittery ribbons.

At a signal from Myrdon, Aegis extends a claw for someone to shake, but quickly loses interest and his attention wanders off.

Jal smirks, ”Hey, you’ve heard of me. That’s a first.” He gives the other Varisian and his bird a greeting nod in response, Bhuail maith.

Bhuail maith. = “Well met” in Varisian.

He considers the man for a moment, his eyes switching between him and his bird. ”I ran a job a few months back with an elf who had a similar bird. She was also something of a mage, and could cast a spell to be able to see in perfect darkness. Good ace to have up your sleeve, that. If I can get a scroll or two of that spell, would you be willing to cast it on me should it become important?”

Scout-like characters in dungeon environments without Darkvision can be tricky. I’d like to have a solution should that particular problem present itself. :)

Then he looks over at Lorelendral, taking a moment to slip his cards into a pocket. "And survival is kind of my game, too, Short Stuff. I'll do my best to keep us from stepping into problems if I can. I haven't lost an agent yet, and I don't plan to start today."

Sorry, I couldn't post yesterday!

A broad shouldered half-orc who stands at 6'7 and has plenty of tattoos on him enters the room, kicking the door open with no great care. He is wearing a mithral breastplate with a mendevian flag on it. He has a Falchion at his side that has a special aura to it.
The man bears no sign of his belonging to the society nor to any faction, aside from one tattoo who looks like metallic wings burning, covering his muscular right arm.

Looking at the persons in the room, he yells "YEAH, I KIND O' LOST ME WAY IN DA TOWN! BUT I'M HERE NOW, MASTER SHAYNE. SHAMAK REPORTING FO' DUTY!"

A young kitsune dressed in fancy clothes introduces himself.

Greetings to all.
So we’re travelling to a demiplane, that’s a story worth to be lived. And we go with an expert, that’s even better.
Then he turns to Aram Zey.

Master Zey, having studied that tomb for decades the Society would have lots of information about it, right? What can tell us about it? How did the Dog pharaoh protected his hoard? Traps, undeads, constructs? And why he was called the dog pharaoh?

Aram Zey rolls his eyes and rubs his temples in response to Shamak, and promptly ignores him in favor of Jhon.

"Little is known of the Dog Pharaoh, aside from his epithet and rumors of a tomb complex in the Sahure Waste. We now know that tomb wasn’t lost to the sands, but taken whole cloth by Hao Jin to add to her collection. The Dog Pharaoh was involved in a power struggle with a rival pharaoh, who eventually prevailed, and erased all records of his foe from the annals of history, replacing his chosen name with that of the “Dog Pharaoh.” Hopefully his tomb will present you more information about him than his victor’s slander."

Lore pulls the stone out of the air and pops it into her wayfinder. "It works from here too, just not as dramatic, yanno!" She grins mischievously and winks at Jal.

Aram Zey seems momentarily impressed by Myrdon's question; a rather rare occurrence.

"We've only just scratched the surface when it comes to the nature of the tapestry, though it seems that we control the only way in and out."
This is, chronologically speaking, the very first scenario featuring the Hao Jin Tapestry, so the snakes haven't reared their ugly heads yet.

His disposition worsens at Jal's mention of linguistic hurdles, though Lore mollifies him slightly.

"A complete understanding and preliminary analysis of whatever inscriptions and the like you find would be preferred, but notes will suffice if need be."

Just let me change my clothes and I'm with you. says Jhon before moving to dress a hot-weather outfit without realizing the weather in the tapestry must not be the same than the weather in Osirion.

Let's get started then!

You all place your finger on the indicated spot, and after Aram Zey utters a command word, you find yourselves in a mire, standing in a foot of cold, brackish water. In the distance, a stone structure rises out of the mire.

After venturing closer:

A grimy sandstone building rises from the swampy water, hemmed in by mossy, drooping trees whose roots look to have been grinding away at its foundations for centuries. What must have been an impressive wooden door has rotted away to the point of nonexistence. Only giant rusted hinges show that it once covered the dark entrance to the tomb. Mere hints of intricately carved pillars and false arcades are barely visible underneath the moss, creepers, and mildew that now cover the structure. Two fetishes flank the tomb’s entrance, each the skin of a fox or small wolf stretched over the flayed fork of lashed bones and painted in strange pigments, topped off with reptilian skulls carved with illegible writing.

Knowledge (Engineering) DC 20:
This is a tomb in a style common in Osirion 7500 years ago, but it is smaller than others from that period.

GM, apologies in advance but I would be repeatedly asking if there's sufficient space for Aegis to fly. He is still medium size. One more level to growth spurt. :)

I'm better making people to notice myself than the other way.

Also if inside is dark and I enter with Jal it will be like putting a sing of our presence Jhon adds pointing the ioun torch that orbits his head.

Oh right! I had completely forgotten about the glowing orbs. They are indeed where you arrived, as Aram Zey told you.

Jal recognizes the fetishes as being of lizardfolk make. They are meant to warn of a curse and keep evil restrained within. Other than that, he sees nothing of note.

The interior of the tomb is pitch black, but what little light that filters in, reveals that it is partially flooded.

He quickly sloshes over to Jal and looks over his shoulder. "My elven eyes are not going to be much help here. We may need torches.."

Shamak has darkvision.

"YUP IT'S FLOODED! ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO SWIM? HARHARHAR!" shouts the half-orc, chuckling.

With Shamak's darkvision, you can see that the first chamber only has a foot of water in it. Are you sending a team in all seaky-like first, or just sloshing in en masse?

If Jal wants to sneak in I'll wait. But I'm also ok with going en masse.

Jal pulls out his scroll, having his fellow Varisian cast it on him.

Scroll of Darkvision; duration 3 hrs

"Thanks for the update, Big Guy," he says to Shamak, "but what are the chances you can stop shouting?"

Then he skulks forward, looking to scout the first room.

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

If no threats are detected, he'll motion for the group to join him (quietly).

This cubic chamber is full of stagnant swamp water to a height of a foot. The walls are shallowly carved with a complex Osirian motif, with hundreds of ancient pictograms overlapping in an intricate pattern, the outlines of which can barely be made out under the grime. A door in the north wall is decorated with a scene in bas-relief: a jackal-headed man holding two matching kukris, around whom a throng of bestial warriors bow. There is no obvious mechanism to open the door, but there is a gap between it and the wall as if it is being held partially open. Water sluggishly trickles through the gap, flowing deeper into the tomb. Empty doorways open into two rooms to the east and west.

Jal hugs the walls, checking first the western hallway, then the eastern, always trying to keep his silhouette hidden.

For simplicity, i’ll take 10 for Stealth checks = total 22.
Perception, north hallway: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Perception, south hallway: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19

If there are no perceived traps/threats either direction, he sneaks to the northern double doors, checking for any clues as to why the door is cracked, and what it would take to open it quietly.
Perception, double doors: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 24

Moving up to the eastern hallway, Jal sees piles of slimy refuse filling the corners of this room, with a foot of swamp muck with stagnant water in between. A once-grand frieze dominates the west wall, its vibrant colors now faded. In it, a jackal-headed man rides a dark chariot pulled by horsesized dogs, at the head of an army of gnolls and dire hyenas. Before him, a radiant ankh is engulfed in black flames. Jal sees no apparent threats in this room.

Heading eastward, Jal crosses the initial room, where, halfway, the floor suddenly gives way under his feet.

Reflex, Jal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

He flows with the water downwards, landing on a bed of spikes.

Falling Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4) = 10
Spikes: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Spike, attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Luckily, the spikes scrape on his armor, rather than impaling him. The water drains away through a grate under the spikes, allowing Jal to take stock of his surroundings. Water drips and cascades constantly from holes in the low ceiling of this corridor. Metal grates topped with rusted spikes periodically pierce the floor at uneven intervals.

Map updated. Meanwhile...

The rest of the party suddenly hears the rushing sound of water, and Shamak can see that the water in the first room of the tomb has been mostly drained. Jal is conspicuously missing...

Eladrian hears the rush of water, and noticing that Jal is no longer visible, He grabs a torch from his pack. "To hell with hiding.. We need to see in here!"
