Eldlen Meirdrerel |
Eldlen, lost in the joy of being an adventurer and the accomplishment of picking the lock, and armed with the assumption that the party is close behind, especially Delphine with her wonderful wand; begins wandering down the narrow tunnel towards its ultimate turning.
yeah, lets go down the dark narrow tunnel

Eldlen is using his wayfinder as a "flashlight" so the dark comment was mostly thematic.
Luke_Parry |
Eldlen discovers that the corridor turns right after a further 20', and then continues for another 20' before (apparently) ending in a blank wall...
Further investigation is, however, put on hold, by the fact that two dog-sized beetles with glowing heads burrow out from the soft earth of the tunnel wall to flank Eldlen!
Delphine: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Eldlen: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Max: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Greyveil: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
MB: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Round 1: Eldlen, Greyveil, Delphine, Max, MB, Dolres
Everyone except Dolres is up.
Max Titan |
Max will double move. he is trying to walk all the way around to it, not sure if this is rough terrain, but I counted 12 squares from where I was at for movement.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
"Max switch with me!" Delphine says and gets ready to strpback should max switch with her.

Greyveil |
After Delphine steps back but before Max moves in Greyveil will throw a bomb at the closest beetle, knowing that it will splash Eldlen. Sorry Eldlen, but I do not want you flanked.
Range Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 261d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 241d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
14 points of fire damage to the closest beetle. Eldlen needs a reflex save DC14 to avoid the full splash damage of 5 and only take 2.

max can't hear you as he already decided moving all the way around is a good idea to get more people in melee, but you are free to take his empty space. Not sure if I can run in this dungeon or not, but if I can, I will take a full round action on round 2 to run to the other side, bash down wall or open the door there on round 3, enter combat round 4. There are more than 2 of us melee people in this game, but not every one of us can enter melee unless one of us tries something.
Greyveil |
Glad you made that save. I know splashing PCs on purpose is questionable, but in this case it seemed worth it. Next level I can control that a bit more. But at first level splashes go where they will. :/
Luke_Parry |
Eldlen takes a swing at one of the giant beetles, but it dodges out of the way, the cramped confines of the corridor hampering his sword arm.
Greyveil throws a bomb round the corner, roasting one of the bugs (You did more than double its maximum hit points...), and lightly singeing Eldlen.
Delphine withdraws, imploring Max to switch places with her.
Max decides to try and go the long way round, running away from the combat.
The remaining beetle tries to bite Eldlen...
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14, for 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3.
...but misses him completely.
Round 2: Dolres, Eldlen, Greyveil, Delphine, Max, MB
Party is up.
Eldlen Meirdrerel |
You can move through a square occupied by a friendly character, unless you are charging. When you move through a square occupied by a friendly character, that character doesn't provide you with cover.
out of curiosity since Eldlen stepped back 5 ft. wouldn't Dolres be able to move through; Greyveil's, Delphine's and Eldlens squares, to the front and attack?
Greyveil |
Taking advantage of the ranger stepping back Greyveil throws another bomb.
Range Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 171d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Likely this roll is -4 for throwing past the ranger. I hope it still hits as its a touch attack.
4 bombs used. 3 remaining.
Max Titan |
full round action to run, just pushing open the doors as need to get ot the other side. and yes I can reach it, only about 15 squares of movement, and I have run as a bonus feat from my alt racial trait.
Luke_Parry |
Okay Max, a couple of points:
1) Run needs to be in a straight line. That was definitely not a straight line.
2) You can't open a door as part of movement; it is a move-equivalent action to do so.
3) A double move gets you to the western double doors in A12, at which point you realise that Eldlen never unlocked them...
Dolres delays.
Eldlen takes a swing (which misses), and steps back.
Greyveil throws another bomb, annihilating the other bug.
Max continues to hustle.
Combat over.
Let me know what you wish to do next.
Max Titan |
since combat is over max can meet them on the other side. Max will open the west doors assuming they are not locked. if not then well, the barbarian is determined to meet up with them
hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (9) = 13
dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11 blunt damage to the doors.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
"Another dead end. I believe we still have two options to the north."

Max Titan |
int: -1 + 1d20 ⇒ -1 + (15) = 14 I don't understand why, but okay.
Luke_Parry |
Max remembers the small papyrus scroll that he was handed at the start by the Venture Captain...
2) Every Slave's Hut Is a Memorial: Every structure within the necropolis is a testament to the people who lived and died in the city. Explorers must not desecrate or vandalize standing structures and tombs, but preserve them as the memorials they were intended to be. Some structures may be trapped or decrepit, but willful and unnecessary destruction will not be tolerated.
Please let me know whether you wish to follow through with you action.
Max Titan |
if the in character knows that is a bad idea, then the in character would not do it. and Dolres shouted as soon as I got around, so he will wait for his allies to unlock the door, not to mention, this is a good aligned character.
wow, I'm a little late to the party and I forget this door was locked. I'll wait for you all to unlock the door from your side.
Eldlen Meirdrerel |
Eldlen opens the doors to the patiently waiting Max
well met cousin! yon nasty bugs art dead, shalt we return to the stairwell?
with that, Eldlen nearly skips through the already explored crypts back to the stairwell they left
west of A15, assuming there are no nasty interruptions
Eldlen, making sure everyone is nearby, descends the stair way, with the intention of carefully checking the doors
Luke_Parry |
Opening the northern doors reveals the following:
This room holds several neatly arrayed chests, boxes, and urns. The dust of centuries covers every surface. The only obvious exit is a set of stone double doors to the south (which is where you have entered by), however, after thoroughly searching the area, Eldlen is able to identify a secret door to the east... which has a magical trap upon it.
Most of the goods in the chests, such as once-fine clothing and sealed jars of food, no longer have any value after the pas sage of centuries, but among the spoiled and ruined grave goods are several salvageable items of value, including two vials of silversheen, a masterwork longbow, 10 cold iron arrows, a gold scarab clasp worth 50 gp, an onyx and silver holy symbol of Pharasma worth 100 gp, a silver hand mirror worth 35 gp, and a wax-sealed clay urn of nard worth 75 gp.
Eldlen Meirdrerel |
as Eldlen is inspecting the items his eyes fall upon the longbow, he picks it up admiring it then setting it where he found it he turns to Max and says
پسر عموی، شما تعظیم چرا شما نمی این یکی را نداشته باشند
Eldlen then returns to the secret door to attempt to undo the magical trap.
disable device: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16uh oh
Luke_Parry |
Right then...
When Eldlen begins to disable the trap, his left little finger accidentally brushes up against it...
...this causes a strange, spiral rune to appear in the air, glowing blood-red before dissolving into a whirlpool of light which disgorges a swarm of thousands of flesh-eating cockroaches, before winking out of existence.
Swarm damage to Eldlen: 1d6 ⇒ 1, and a DC 14 Fort save, or be nauseated for one round.
Delphine: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Eldlen: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Max: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Greyveil: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
CS: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Round 1: Dolres, CS, Max, Eldlen, Greyveil, Delphine
Dolres is up.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
"What did you do this time Eldlen!"
Delphine yells, thinking it might be better to put lifelink on Eldlen since he has a knack for getting hit instead of Max.
Dolres |
Dolres ready's an alchemist fire. When Eldlen moves away she will throw it on them.
Alchemist Fire: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
I believe that will be a miss
Luke_Parry |
Dolres prepares to throw a flask of alchemist's fire as soon as Eldlen moves out of the way.
@Dolres: I moved you forward 10', so that you could actually see the swarm.
The swarm continues to feast on Eldlen...
Swarm damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5.
...and slowly spreads out, trying to reach the rest of the party.
Frantically trying to shake the cockroaches off himself, Eldlen staggers away, allowing Dolres to target the swarm, but her aim is off, and she only manages to splash it.
Round 1: CS, Max, Eldlen, Dolres, Greyveil, Delphine
Max, Greyveil, and Delphine are up.
Max Titan |
given the swarm is a little to close to max, he pulls out his earthbreaker and swings hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (9) = 13
dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2) + 4 = 12 blunt dmg.
