Dolres |
Dolres attempts to create some glass and swings again.
Battleaxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Luke_Parry |
There we go!
Dolres brings her battleaxe around in a sweeping blow which, although it passes through the creature without doing as much damage as normal, still does enough to disrupt the creature's cohesion, causing to collapse back into a pile of inanimate sand.
Combat over :-)
Let me know what you want to do next (although I imagine healing the (barely) unconscious Elf will probably feature in immediate plans) :-)
Delphine Tarrasquel |
I'll pook him so deep the sun don't shine ;)
Relieved the combat it over, Delphine proceeds to heal Eldlen with her wand. Though she is poking a little harder than needed for it to work.
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Eldlen Meirdrerel |
type-o it was supposed to be "keep poking" but I didn't go back and read it until it was too late :)
Eldlen, rubbing the mark left from the wand tip, looks at Delphine a little confused
Kiitos, että autat minua prinsessa
then turning to the group,
Forsooth I thank ye all, thou art fine friends indeed, shalt we continue down yon stairwell?
Eldlen goes to the bottom of the steps and checks the doors for traps and locks, if clear he tries to open them
Max Titan |
almost forgot about my lifelink. Delphine, I was at full when raging, then I took 12 damage. The first 8 damage put me down to 8 HP, but the other 4 got transferred to you due to lifelink, I'm fixing that now.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
ok need some more pokes going round then
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
both full again :)
Greyveil |
Wish I could spit that elixir back into the bottle. It doubles my bomb damage and lets it not splash. Glad the thing is dead though. That was serious damage for first level. [/b]
Greyveil moves up to examine the creature and the holes in the walls.
Before we go much further can someone look at this shield and tell me what it might do?
Luke_Parry |
Eldlen discovers that the doors at the bottom of the stairs are neither trapped, nor locked, and consequently opens them.
A tapestry hangs from a frame against the south wall of this large chamber; it depicts an otherworldly vista where the souls of the dead, shepherded by strange beings, enter an ethereal river ambling through space toward a landscape dominated by an impossibly tall spire. Columns sculpted in the shape of Osirian warriors wielding khopeshes stand in all four corners of the room. The floor is tiled in a white spiral pattern on a black background, and this spiral pattern is repeated on the stone double doors to the north, east (the doors that you entered by), and west.
Eldlen does not find any traps in the room, but does discover that the doors to the north and west are locked.
Dolres |
Before we move on Dolres wish to carefully search the area.
I will take 20 if possible.
"Give me a sec. I just want to take a look around this area first."
Delphine Tarrasquel |
Delphine stays behind the boys as they walk through the tunnels, happy enough to let them brave the dangers.
Dolres |
While Eldlen is working on the door, Dolres cast detect magic and attempts to discern what magic is contained in the items we have found.
If any item detect as magic
spellcrafting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Spellcrafting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Luke_Parry |
Upon opening the door...
The center of this large octagonal room is a raised square platform a few inches above the floor, with a stone pillar at each corner. A gold-trimmed sarcophagus sits in the center of the platform, flanked by two statues of humanoid beings with canine heads, each of which holds an ankh in one of its crossed arms. Stone double doors exit the room to the north and south (where you have entered from).
Whilst careful searching the room (something which takes about two hours) Eldlen is able to identify secret doors in the western wall (locked) and eastern wall (unlocked). In addition, there is a trap on the platform, but he finds a bypass switch involving a torch sconce.
Finally, the door to the north is not locked, but appears to be stuck closed.
Map updated.
Dolres |
ok I guess I can be brave once in awhile."
Dolres says as she walks up the the sarcophagus, and attempts to open it.
Luke_Parry |
This is very much a case of curiosity killing the cat (since it doesn't animate unless someone interacts with it)...
As soon as Dolres touches the sarcophagus, it animates, and attempts to eat her...
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 damage.
Grapple: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20.
...its snapping lid closing tight upon her.
Delphine: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Eldlen: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Max: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Greyveil: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
FS: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
Round 1: Greyveil, Max, Eldlen, Dolres, FS, Delphine
Greyveil, Max, Eldlen and Dolres are up.
Eldlen Meirdrerel |
that's awful, I just figured someone else would look in the sarcophagus while Eldlen played with the doors
just in case:
spellcraft check 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
arcane knowledge check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Eldlen stops what he is doing at attacks the Sarcophagus
Elven curved blade attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 for damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Max Titan |
the sarchacus is animated? I would like to double move to get to it, move speed 40, so 80 movement with doublemove. Not sure if anything is rough terrain or not, so I'm keeping my figure where it is at and let someone move me as appropriate. If nothing is rough terrain, then it looks like 1 move will do it and I'll roll attack just in case
hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (4) = 8
dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 6) + 4 = 11 blunt
Delphine Tarrasquel |
"You guys really should stop getting hit." Delphine says and moves over to heal Dolres.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Dolres |
I am not sure how much movement I have or if I can do anything. I know better but my character does not have a dagger. If I am able I will cast ray of frost. I am asumming Delphine can't heal me through the sarcophagus
Greyveil |
Unsure what to do, Greyveil will throw a bomb so that it totally misses the dwarf and only splashes the sarcophagus.
Range Touch to a square next to the sarcophagus: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
I believe the AC for hitting a square is 10. Maybe lower. A 15 should make it regardless. Splash damage is 5. DC14 Reflex for half. That is my third bomb thrown and each time I rolled a 1 for damage. At least this time it does not matter.
Luke_Parry |
Greyveil throws a bomb next to the sarcophagus, aiming to splash it and avoid Dolres... however, despite momentarily being covered in flames, it appears to be completely unaffected by the fire.
Max hustles forward and takes a swing, but in his haste, misses completely.
Eldlen hustles over and takes a swing; his blow connects with the sarcophagus and bites into it, but doesn't quite do as much damage as he was expecting.
Dolres attempts to cast a ray of frost...
Concentration: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
...but loses the spell.
The sarcophagus continues to chomp on Dolres...
Grapple: 1d20 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 9 + 5 = 22, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 damage.[/ooc]
...before swallowing her whole!
Alright, *now* Delphine's action needs to be changed, as she can no longer reach Dolres.
Round 2: Delphine, Greyveil, Max, Eldlen, Dolres, FS
Party is up.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
I'll have to delay as a channel won't reach her (right?) And I can't poke her with a wand.

Max Titan |
by now I'm in melee if not already, so I moved myself. He would continue moving if not already in melee
lets try this again, shall we.
hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (8) = 12
dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 6) + 4 = 15
Dolres |
Sorry for not posting earlier.
Dolres finds her location most uncomfortable. "This sarcophagus should remain still, this is not at all proper" she thinks.
I don't think there is anything she can do right now.
Luke_Parry |
@Delphine: Correct on both counts, unfortunately.
Delphine delays, unable to do anything for Dolres at this time.
Greyveil ponders what on earth he can do to an object that appears to be 'resistant' to fire.
Max takes another swing at the sarcophagus, but his blow is turned aside by its outer coating.
Eldlen has more luck, delivering a good hit.
Dolres waits patiently to be rescued.
The sarcophagus then turns and attacks Eldlen!
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 damage.
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 damage.
Grapple: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15.
Slam: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 damage.
...and whilst he is able to avoid one attack, the other slams into him with bone crunching force (placing him on 3hp, I believe); but he is able to turn aside at the last moment, avoiding the worst of it (i.e. the crit doesn't confirm).
Round 3: Delphine, Greyveil, Max, Eldlen (-8), Dolres, FS (-8)
Party is up.
Delphine Tarrasquel |
"Good thing there is always Eldren to heal." Delphine says and walks over to Eldren and heals him.
clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Max Titan |
Max will slam his hammer again against it. hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (8) = 12 or maybe not.
dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 3) + 4 = 10
Luke_Parry |
Delphine moves forward, and heals Eldlen.
Greyveil continues to delay, uncomfortably aware that there is little that he can do against this foe.
Max tries to hit the sarcophagus, but again, his blow is turne aside by its thick casing.
Eldlen takes another swing, but somehow, the sarcophagus manages to dodge out of the way.
Dolres continues to frantically wish to rescue.
The sarcophagus continues to harry Eldlen...
Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 damage.
Grapple: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17.
Slam: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 damage.
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9, for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 damage.
...and this time, although he dodges the bite, he is crushed when it body slams him.
Round 4: Delphine, Greyveil, Max, Eldlen (-9), Dolres, FS (-8)
Party is up.
