Dr. Strang |
Name: Aaron
Character: Dr. Menes Strang
Faction: Silver Crusade
Day Job: Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Purchasing an alchemist's fire and some holy water before we start.
Dr. Strang has the Temple Membership vanity, which, aside from allowing him to use Heal for day job checks, also allows for a free NPC casting of either cure moderate wounds or lesser restoration once per session...
The kicker is it has to be a temple to your particular faith... Dr. Strang worships one of the Osirion gods, Anubis.
Is there a temple to Anubis nearby (wherever we are). I'm pretty sure we're in Osirion, so that's working in my favor at least...
Luke_Parry |
Hmmm... Generally speaking, finding an *active* temple to Anubis is going to be difficult - the 'Old Gods' are largely forgotten.
That said, after looking through the section on Wati in the AP, I can tell you the following:
The Church of Pharasma has essentially turned Wati into a (largely) one religion city, re-purposing most of the old temples. The Church of Abadar also maintains a presence in the city (mostly in the market district).
Of the Old Gods, only two have any traces of worship remaining -
A shrine to Wadjet (with no priests).
A (barely) tolerated shrine to Anubis (with no priests, but one fervent worshipper - an elderly Halfling Alchemist/Expert who specialises in embalming.
I don't think that meets the criterion for the 'Temple' vanity?

For the record, I'm totally digging the fact that my character seems perfectly suited for exploring this particular ancient tomb! What with the ancient osirion and anubis connections, and even some appropriate knowledges! And he gets to play pseudo-scholar!
Totally unintentional, but makes it quite engaging!

Just a bit of comment on the current situation...
Its always good to ponder what to do if things go sideways! =)
In the end its Gudrun's call, and he wants to give it a go, so lets do it!
We will make sure everyone has an alchemical item, just in case!
(think just Manius has nothing, so give him one of the alchemist fires we found) ... Erevan probably has the best chance of hitting it, so give him the other.
I'll over think things if you let me, so don't. =)

Am heading out of country today for Christmas.
Shouldn't put me incommunicado or anything (unless the folks decided to drop their internet stuff)
But will be intermittent travel days and the like... not that I don't post too much anyway, so I suppose its all good.
Gudrun Cairncarver |
I'd really like to apologise for not keeping pace with the posting on this game. I'm used to games moving at a little slower pace (posting wise) and being a rogue I'm aware I'm meant to be proactive and I feel bad for that. Thanks GM for NPCing me when needed, I'm sorry for the extra responsibility.

Just as a friendly FYI, this thing has high touch AC, and a lot of hit points. If you *do* wish to avoid it, it is unlikely to pursue you beyond a certain point, and as long as you avoid it thereafter, you should be fine.
(Also, remember, the way this has been adapted to PFS is not ideal - if this was a home game, you would all be level 2 by now, but the PFS adaptation gives you 3xp for completing the encounters meant for level 1 and level 2... so it is a tad more dangerous than it otherwise would be (since most of you are still level 1).)
Manius Pindeloric |
Thanks for the heads up/hint...I'm fine with running like crazy and avoiding the swarm..part of me kinda wants to fight everything and win..but it might not be the smart thing to do
Luke_Parry |
Well, here is the thing - once you finish this room, you will have completed more than 2/3 of the encounters (entitling you to full XP/Prestige/Gold), and found everything that appears on the chronicle sheet (meaning that any further encounters are extra risk for nil further reward).
Now, obviously, I am happy to continue running the additional encounters, but I am equally happy to call it either after this, or at whatever point we are at by February 1st (so we still qualify for the game day).
Thoughts?

Me, I'm having fun with it all (this module has done wonders for me getting a feel for my character's personality (sorry for the occasional walls of text, I can't help myself sometimes.))
I'm not worried about it either way.
Then again, I've already won one boon this Gameday, so am not really expecting another.
I am a bit concerned about finding something inside the house worse then what was outside, though. 8P
On the plus side, it is a repeatable module, so I can always run through it again some other time to find out what else hides in here.

I'm happy to end whenever. I've had 0 luck with Boons so I'd like to a chance to pick something up, but I defer to the group.

I'm good either way. It would be nice to get a chance at a boon (haven't managed to land one through luck yet) but it's not that the boons are an absolute must have.
I'm a bit worried about getting into the part of the adventure that's meant for lvl 2's though (and seems to be filled with haunts) and we might be getting into a bit more trouble then we can handle at this point.
I'm fine with following the majority vote but unless someone has a very strong opinion either way I'd say continue for another week and then report it.

Works for me

Update incoming when I get home from work.
If it helps, I will subtly hint that level 2 of the house only has 1 encounter...
...whilst the 'remaining building outside' is actually the entrance to a crypt complex with multiple encounters.
Thus, it might be possible to finish the entire manor by the end of the Game Day :-)
Manius Pindeloric |
Since we only have like 1-2 days ..I say if the guy in the last encounter let's us we say goodbye to him nicely and return to town to finish on time.
And if he get's aggressive we run like crazy and hope we can escape.
Dr. Strang |
Since it seems like we're done, I know there are a couple of folks with diseases to resolve (Manius has wormpox and Ajah has whatever the scarab swarm was infecting.)
Anyway, Strang will utilize his heal skill and the 'treat disease' option thereof, to give anyone looking to shake their infections by themselves, an additional bonus on said rolls.
He can take a 10, for a 17, which should be enough to beat the DC of all of the diseases we came across.
So if you're rolling 'em out, add an extra +4!
Erevan Stormstride |
Player: PatheticWretch
Character: Erevan Stormstride
PFS# 132,076-18
Faction: Dark Archive
craft weapons: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Gudrun Cairncarver |
Craft (traps): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Gudrun likely puts some of the new tricks he's learnt to use.

No apology necessary, that's the one advantage pbp has over RL gaming...you can be as overly-verbose as you want to be :)
Thanks for running/playing all, it was fun..yet scary at times.
Gudrun Cairncarver |
Picked mine up too thanks.
