Newis Kher Rektor |
Newis lets his inner barbarian out as he clutches his spear and makes a mad dash at the river, quickly picking up his pace across the first 40 feet before launching himself from the bank of one side to land on the other.
Running at 4x movement, making a running long jump. I land (Acrobatics Check) feet away from where I jump.
Crazy Acrobatics!: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (12) - 2 = 10
OH THANK GOD, haha. With a -2, I really thought I was going to be in the river for sure.
Newis leaps through the air over the water, barely catching himself on the other side of the stream with his feet digging into the ground, head turning to look at the wounded Janira while flashing a smirk at the minotaur. His singing has stopped but his humming continues as his weapon glows with magic, ready to pierce the heart of the giant beast.
Newis Kher Rektor |
So GM, if I'm running as my full round action, and I can go 4x my speed for a total of 80 ft, I moved 45 ft to the river edge and then jumped 10 ft. Do I stop at the other side or do I get to run up to the extra 25 ft after as part of the movement? If I get to move, I'll run and get some cover behind a small tree.
I positioned myself where I would go if I got the extra 25 ft. If I have to stop at the river edge, just let me know and I'll move back to where I would have stopped.
Isobel the Nymph |
Seeing the frightening creature bring their halfling leader down and turn on them, Isobel looks frightened but determined.
"You will trouble this land no more!" she yells at it. "Stand aside; you have kindled all of our wrath!" she adds, and with a motion with her hand, coats the creature's battleaxe with grease.
She steps back from the stream to keep some distance between the beast and herself.
Grease, DC 16 reflex.
Nym the Wizard |
Nym moves up to a tree for cover and casts a ray of frost at the minotaur.
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Just so its on the same page. Initiative: Newis, Jeffrey, Isobel, Janira, Nym, Deliyah, Sparrow, Mintoaur
Jeffrey Warren |
"Come on, dumb beast!" Jeffrey yells as he moves toward the edge of the river. "I dare you, attack me!"
Jeffrey then goes total defense, expecting a hit if the minotaur choses to further cross the river and attack.

GM ShadowLord |
Deliyah's shot whistles through the air before burying itself into the Minotaur's large arm. He grunts and glances over at the minor inconvenience. A second later Nym's excellently placed frost ray blast into it him. Next his battleaxe is coated in a slippery grease which he is unable to hold on to as he grasp at it quickly but fails and the battleaxe slams into the ground near his foot.
The minotaur roars loudly and stomps his feet several times. Consider him sufficiently pissed off now. He snorts and stares down across the river at Jeffrey, obviously getting ready to tee him up.
Sparrow is up!

Capt. Sparrow |
Gotta get over to janira as well...
Sparrow runs for it and tries a jump across since Newis made it look so easy.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
(I can't adjust him on the map because I'm away on my iPad. But I'll move about 90 ft and try to run/jump in as straight a line as I can to reach Janira. Can go up to 120ft line.
GM ShadowLord |
I moved you right up until Newis.
The minotaur looks like it's ready to charge across the river at Jeffrey until Sparrow comes flying over the river just like Newis. As he watches the two get closer to the fallen halfling the minotaur spins. With a furious snort and a stamp of its hooves, it lowers its deadly horns and charges towards the pair. The ground begins to shake as the snarling bull head closes the distance.
Attack Newis: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 2 = 22
Damage Newis: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
The minotaur's horns plow into Newis and its powerful charge allow it to impale the skald on its horns. It lifts Newis up off the the ground triumphantly and then throws his bloody, limp and broken body to the ground with a thump. 13 Damage The minotaur stomps its feet loudly and turns towards Sparrow, a menacing look towering down upon the warpriest.
GM ShadowLord |
Deliyah's wild shot doesn't land anywhere near the arrow, but she successfully manages to leap across the river afterwards. As she lands on this side of the river bank, the minotaur spins his head toward her and glares down with hatred in its eyes.
Something I failed to notice at first Isobel, the range on Grease is (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels). I'll let the greased weapon stand as it is my fault I missed it, but you are going to need to get a little closer to do it again.
Isobel the Nymph |
Sorry, I was within 25 feet for grease before...I moved back because I was the closest one to the minotaur. So the weapon one was okay. That said, I hadn't had time to consult the map for this turn, and am just noticing the minotaur went the other way! So yes, the grease can't happen this time, but I was only 10 feet from him when I cast it on the weapon. Double move for this turn, then.
Jeffrey Warren |
Swim, -2 Shield: 1d20 + 0 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 0 - 2 = 15
Jeffrey manages to swim to the other side of the river. Once on the other side, he goes total defense again.
Won't be able to hit him if I walk up to him now...

Capt. Sparrow |
crap. gotta stabilize them!
Sparrow steps back and spontanously converts shield of faith to cure light wounds, and kneels down to touch Newis.
healing: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
i still have my bow out, i don't provide any flank
GM ShadowLord |
"Hey big guy, over here."
The slayer gets her wish as the large minotaur digs in and begins stampeding towards Deliyah. The ground trembles as the creature charges powerfully toward her, lowering its horns at the last second.
Charge Deliyah: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 2 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
Unfortunately she suffers a fate much similarly as Newis as it's wicked horn pierces through her abdomen and steals the life from her. As he withdraws his horn he also slams her body to the ground next to the river. 13 Damage, Deliyah down @ -3 HP
Having knocked down the halfling, the skald and now the slayer the minotaur feels charged with delight in how the battle is turning in his favor. In a guttural language none of you can understand it mutters something resembling a taunt as it begins laugh in choked bursts. He raises his arms up and spins in a circle victoriously, beckoning you on with his large hairy fingers.
Party is up! Well, rather, some of you are up! :)
Isobel the Nymph |
Isobel's expression is full of fey fury, and she responds to the creature's taunts with another layer of grease under its feet.
"Your reign of terror ends today, beast!"
DC 16 reflex
EDIT: Ouch all around. Seems like we ALMOST went with a sound strategy, which was having the minotaur flail against Jeffrey's 26 AC while the rest of us took it down, but I think instead we opted for what we are doing now.
GM ShadowLord |
When the ground underneath the beast becomes slippery the large creature balances itself against the spell, securing a firm footing. It swings its gaze towards Isobel, planning to give her the horns next. It snuffs loudly at her, letting her know its intent.
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Capt. Sparrow |
do i see the wand on Newis' body? where he keeps it?
on sparrow's turn this round he'll pat down Newis for the wand, maybe having some idea where it is, from when Newis took the wand from janira's pack. and then use it on him.
cl 3rd clw: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
7 charges remaining
Nym the Wizard |
I believe you should both have a cure light wounds wand anyway. When the one in Janira's pack was discovered, Jeffery offered to have someone hold his personal one in case it was needed(he can't use it himself). Cpt. Sparrow said he would take one and Newis said he would take it also.
Nym the Wizard |
Nym shouts "Don't forget the stuff from Janira's pack, Isobel the wand; Sparrow the scroll of entangle. If we can get him over here maybe we can slow him down, I have the scroll of mist!"
Nym fires off another ray of frost, then scampers a long the stream towards the log.
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Capt. Sparrow |
whatever wasn't taken, i'm holding the bag. so i have it, i just don't have it at the top of my pack or anything. if the wand was left in there, then i drew it from the bag, and then healed Newis instead of taking the wand off Newis' body. i can pull out and hand off the scroll of entangle next round if that's still in the bag. but i can't cast it. Isobel can, right? entangle is on the fey bloodline sorc/wiz spell list?
Nym the Wizard |
Entangle is a Divine spell. I was just looking at the requirements to activate a scroll and it says it has to be part of your possible spell list, which I guess its not since its druid / ranger, not sure if any of your domains have it. Sorry about that, I was under the impression if it was divine then a divine caster was sufficient.
GM ShadowLord |
I'm acting for Jeffrey in his absence.
Jeffrey continues his total defense posture and moves up 5' putting him adjacent to the minotaur. Once there the minotaur turns toward him and attempts to gore him, but Jeffrey's turtle stance prevents the attack. The minotaur grows frustrated and looks back to its fallen battleaxe. It begins to walk to that area and looks as if it intends to pick it up.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Party is up!
Newis Kher Rektor |
If Newis was healed for 6, then....
Newis stands up and angrily looks over at the minotaur as he starts to sing a song about dead minotaurs!
ENHANCE WEAPONS: +1 Enhancement bonus to your guys' weapons and ammunition. (Not mine.)
That should be my move and standard.
Capt. Sparrow |
Deliyah i guess bleeds...
Sparrow casts clw from the wand, then approaches our downed guide to try and heal her. CLW@CL3rd: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 6 charges remaining
btw Nym don't you need to be closer for ray of frost?
Jeffrey Warren |
Pardon. I was in bed yesterday, and had to be somewhere this entire day.
"Everyone, shoot at him now!" Jeffrey shouts.
"I'll move up to him when you've all taken a shot, and hold him at bay!"
I don't want to give you -4 penalties for shooting into melee :P
Nym the Wizard |
Nym has been within 25 ft of the minotaur every time he has cast ray of frost. The range is 30 ft at level 1.
Nym teeters across the log.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Then hops down on the other side and casts his favorite spell, Ray of Frost!
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Nym the Wizard |
Nym cheers and pumps his fist into the air! "YES!"
Does the minotaur spend his turn slipping and now its the pc's turn? Initiative Newis, Jeffrey, Isobel, Janira, Nym, Deliyah, Sparrow, Mintoaur
**Oops I forgot Jeffery was delaying**
