"PITIFUL!"
She brings her now-bloody sword up to her shoulder, pointing at her remaining target.
"You're next, a*@&&++! See if you can last longer than one hit."
She rushes over into a flank with the eidolon, swinging her sword in a wide arc. She starts the swing with the flat facing her target to give the weapon more drag, turning it suddenly to hasten her swing at the last second.

Merisiel is up.
Merisiel, Forlorn |
Merisiel looks at the foul beast in anger and calls out to her allies, "Let's take these creatures down. Perhaps the priests still live."
She moves forward over the broken column yet again, her rapier pointing at the featureless creature. However, the column shifts under her weight, and the rapier barely nicks the creature before her.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 2 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 73d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2) = 11
If the attack does hit, she applies both her slow reactions ability and her debilitating injury to make it belwidered for one round.
The abilities are:
Bewildered: The target becomes bewildered, taking a –2 penalty to AC. The target takes an additional –2 penalty to AC against all attacks made by Merisiel.
Slow Reactions: Opponents damaged by Merisiel’s sneak attack can’t make attacks of opportunity for 1 round.
GM "The Fox" |
The faceless stalker does not take the opportunity that Merisiel opens to attack the elf. [ooc](It has finally run out of AoOs.)
Merisiel's rapier thrust misses the creature, and it makes a sound that must be a laugh.
"நீங்கள், தெய்வம் இறக்க இரண்டாவது இருக்கும்."
Then it turns to Amiri and states, "You will be the first." It strikes at the barbarian with its long arm.

COMBAT OVER
You find a mwk longsword (non-magical) on each of the creatures. There are two lanterns on the ground in this chamber, still burning. Hallways lead out of the courtyard to the north and to the west.
The full moon is just beginning to rise.
We will go with the "rule of two". If someone suggests a direction to go and another player seconds the suggestion, then we will go with that. It keeps the game running better than waiting for unanimity.
Hrothdane Pregen |
Amiri spits on the second faceless stalker.
"MEDIOCRE!"
Amiri sits down, her muscles loosening and shrinking as the rush of enraged adrenaline passes. She rips some brush out of the ground and uses it to begin wiping blood an interior bits off her sword.
She nods towards the door she was approaching before battle broke out.
"There was something behind those two doors making noise. More things to kill, maybe?"

"As I'm sure that you've already noticed, these foul beasts can take the shape of others. In case we get seperated, I suggest that we have a battle cry that we can use to identify each other. How does Rutabaga sound?
We can't trust that anybody we see is who we think they are. But, they might be. So, no killing anybody until we're reasonably sure that they're enemies. Or, at least, worth killing :-)
Do we want to question these scum? Personally, I'm fine with just killing them but I'll let you two decide"
That last was directed at Merisiel and Sajan. He KNOWS how Amiri is going to vote :-).
"I'd suggest just going through the front doors. That is probably where their main party is and its best to kill them first"
Unchained Pregen Sajan |

Sajan chuckles at Balazars suggestion to use rutabaga as the groups identifier, but can’t think of any objection to it. ”That sounds like reasonable advice, Balazar. Rutabega is a random enough thing to shout that I’m sure none of us will mistake it.”
He glances at the bodies of the faceless stalkers These ones seemed dedicated to their foul patron, I doubt that they will provide any information, and more likely would just try to trick or delay us
“We should make haste and find the real Enoras and Larya. Time grows short before the ritual must be performed, and we don’t know how many more of these we have to face yet. I think we should push on without delay “ With that, Sajan steps over the body of the faceless stalker and begins walking towards the door.

"Ah, Sajan, but what if I find a small vegetable garden and am overcome with excitement? In that case, I guess that you'll want to see it anyway, so it's likely a moot point," Merisiel says with a laugh.
She looks down at the creatures and examines it, attempting to find any possible note or marker from its master, maybe even an indication of the true Enoras and Larya's fate. These humans have such short lives. If only I could give part of my life to lengthen theirs. If only Kyra was here; she would know what to do.
Face still, Merisel straightens to her full height and says, "Yes, let us go through the front doors. Let me examine it for traps first, though."
Taking a lantern, she strides forward toward the door, moving her feet slower and quieter as she passes through the arch. She quickly runs her fingers over the door, looking for any sigils or switches likely to trigger a trap, then leans down with her ear to it. Placing the lantern at her feet, she gestures to the group, indicating they should come forward.

Merisiel saunters forward silently. Closely examining the door reveals no traps, but the elf notices a strange niche set into the door.
Beyond the door can be heard the sounds of stone being moved across stone.
The hallway to the north ends at double doors, and there are passages branching off there going east and west.

Ah, okay. My bad
Amiri pulls on the door a few times, her anger rising with each pull before she finally throws her hands in the air.
"Gah! Do your little needle lock-picky thing or whatever. I'm going to see about those animals."
Amiri storms off towards the northern door.

Or more likely, we'll need you
In a little bit of a whisper so Amiri can't hear:
"I think that we should join the pig headed strong but stupid one or we are like to break into two hornets nests at once. Damned barbarians. And they say that GNOMES have poor impulse control"
Balazar and Padrig head off to join Amiri. Padrig is, as usual, flying right over her head.
Unchained Pregen Sajan |
"Yes, lets try and avoid splitting up just yet. We should avoid testing our identifier word until it's nessecarry"
Sajan follows the others, taking up a position to the side of the door.
Merisiel, Forlorn |
Merisiel nonds and joins the group gathering at the door. It seems reasonable, after, examining that. Stone on stone could be many things, and nothing good. Best to leave that until nothing else could come around a corner.
GM "The Fox" |
Three shallow pools sit in the middle of this room—one filled with clear, blue liquid, one filled with budding plants, and the third filled with a transparent red liquid. Two clothed figures slowly bob in this last pool.
The following is a second, separate check:
The other two pools hold small amounts of holy water thickened with plant sap, though the bodies that have been unceremoniously dumped in one have tainted its contents.
The viscous fluid is of little use as a splash weapon, but by dipping a weapon into it (even a piece of cloth wrapped around a fist or foot), the weapon gains the ability to deal damage as a good-aligned weapon for one attack made in the next hour. There is enough water to coat six weapons in this way.
Strangely, you see no animals.

Looks over at Amiri
"we dip a weapon in it and the first strike with that weapon will bypass the resistance some fiends have to weapons. I suggest you dip your spear in it and use that if your greastsword appears ineffective"
"there are 6 uses in total. Sajan, you can just wrap a cloth dipped in it around your fists. I'll do that with Pradig's tail. One use for Pradig and Amiri, two for each of Merisiel and Sajan?"
Unchained Pregen Sajan |
"That is an excellent plan, Balazar"
Sajan carefully applies the fluid to a cloth and wraps it around his fist.
"I can use my temple sword, until this is nessecarry"
GM "The Fox" |
Yes, you recognize the two bodies are Enoras and Larya.
The sound of the distressed animals abated before you entered the room. Somewhere, you hear the sound of water dripping, but you cannot tell the direction. (SFX)
The only magic Balazar detects is that of items and effects on himself and his companions.
The spear of the huntmaster will count as a good-aligned weapon for the purpose of bypassing DR while it is within the temple—it does not need to be dipped in the holy balm.
More about the spear:
8th Level: With the spear in hand, the wielder gains a +5 competence bonus on Survival checks.
10th Level: A wielder with the quarry class feature (Core Rulebook 67) can use the spear to use locate creature once per day to find his quarry. If his quarry is within range, the amber spearhead glows brightly when pointed in the proper direction.
12th Level: The spear gains the returning weapon special ability.
Merisiel, Forlorn |
The dead bodies in the pool cause Merisiel's face to fall, and she mumbles to herself, May Erastil judge your sacrifice meaningful" before she begins to drag their bodies from the water to lay into some semblance of peaceful rest.
Then Merisiel nods at the holy symbol. "It is always worth a shot; keys come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. Balazar, I will only need one coating, or else I will need," she pauses for a moment as she takes stock of her daggers, "at least 6, possibly more. It would likely be best to cover my rapier and leave the daggers alone."
She draws her rapier and dips it into the pool.
GM "The Fox" |
The sounds of dripping water subside after a couple of minutes.
There is a door leading out of this room to the east. There are also three single doors in the hallway, the double-doors where you heard the sounds of stone on stone, and a passage that leads to the southwest.
GM "The Fox" |
Small pots filled with soil sit in the corners of this room with piles of seeds placed atop of each. Prayer mats lie scattered throughout the room.

She almost continues, but the appearance of the watery fanged crown stops her.
"Yo! Magic man--gnome, whatever. Some weird magic s~!% going on here. Or maybe Mr. Peacey-prayer Guy knows."
Merisiel, Forlorn |
"I would not be surprised if the same things that controlled the creatures that killed Enoras and Larya were responsible for this," Merisiel says.
She strides forward to touch the seeping water on the wall, looking closer to see if it gave up any secrets.

It is the east wall where the crown forms, right next to where Merisiel now stands.
Merisiel touches, smells, and tastes the water. It seems like fresh water, though the source is unclear to her.
Balazar detects a moderate magical aura coming from the water. It is a Knowledge (arcana) check—not Spellcraft—to determine the school of the magical effect. Spellcraft is used to identify magic items, which this is not. Using the same die roll as above (16), Balazar gets a Knowledge (arcana) check of 24, which is sufficient. The gnome is able to discern that this is a conjuration effect.
Merisiel, Forlorn |

"Ah, pity," Merisiel says, looking at her allies, "there's no creepy weeping demons on this wall. I guess we just have to keep going, eh? I'm sure Muscle will be more than happy with that, won't she? Go back into the big room, point her in the direction of whatever looks unfriendly and let her go?"
