StephNyan |
@Rolan: Thanks for correcting me there! :)
Rallas stays prone to not provoke more attacks.
Bite, vs. Prone: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 4 = 13 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The blue lion then attacks Fargrim again, but misses.
Rolan then moves forward, drawing his wakizashi as he does. He attacks the blue lion, but the sheer blueness of the blue lion distracts Rolan too much to land a hit. It just doesn't make any sense.
Turn progression - round 1:
Red
Negi
Eleanor
Fargrim 5/9HP & Prone
Rallas 0/9HP (Disabled) & Prone
Blue
Rolan
Ezekias
Ezekias is up.
@Negi: I forgot cavaliers have a Base Attack Bonus at level 1. Meaning you could've drawn one weapon while moving. If you want, you may still move Negi forward on the map.
Ezekias Silverthane |
Ezekias draws his weapon, imbues it with arcane power, and attacks Blue.
Rapier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
On mobile, can't update map.
StephNyan |
Ezekias and Negi, are you able to at least view the map on your mobiles?
Negi, you've been moved to the square next to the red lion. That's where you intended to move, didn't you? (No total defense, because you didn't have actions left.)
Ezekias, you can move south of the blue lion, but will provoke an AoO. Will you still move there and attack? (I'm not sure if you can view the map, and thus not sure if you were aware you'd provoke an AoO.)
Ezekias Silverthane |
Last I saw the map, I was a 5 ft step east of the top lion, with Rallas (I think) between them. If that's no so I'll probably retconn as follows.
Ezekias uses a scroll of Sleep on the lions.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Are you sure you want to do that? I thought sleep targeted the lowest HD first, and most of us are first level...
Ezekias Silverthane |
I always thought it was creatures chosen but now I see it's not so. Still, centering behind the lions should allow only them to be in the radius. Is that possible here, GM?
StephNyan |
You could target the wall. That way only the lions would be in the spell's radius.
However, a magus doesn't have sleep in his list of available spells. Did you obtain it on your list of available spells through some other means?
I can't find anything like that in your profile, which means you need a Use Magic Device check to activate the scroll. The DC is 20 + the spell's CL, meaning it's DC 21. UMD's a trained only skill though, and you don't have it trained.
Ezekias Silverthane |
Yeah, got that scroll from a previous PFS adventure and didn't check too closely (obviously!) that I could actually use it. Given that I don't have UMD skills, I guess I'll have to do this instead.
Ezekias lobs an Acid Splash at Blue.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Fargrim Arikfind |
You do know you don't get the items on your chronicle sheet? they are just available for purchase. Likewise things you pick up on the adventure you don't get to keep.
Ezekias Silverthane |
Yes, I paid for that scroll and a few others with my earnings from Master of the Fallen Fortress. There's a fair amount of overlap between 1st level Wiz/Sorc and Magus spells, and I just assumed when I bought it that I could use it. Ah, well, not the first wasted money I've spent, nor the last. :-)
Fargrim Arikfind |
You are first level, so it is not wasted, you can sell back at 100% First level rebuilds are really handy.
StephNyan |
That's the wonderful thing about level 1 characters!
The blue lion quickly steps aside, and Ezekias' attack misses.
Bite, vs. Prone: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 4 = 9 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The red lion looks like it's about to bite Rallas, but then seems to change its mind. It turns to the other prone intruder, Fargrim, and attempts to bite her instead. It's attack misses.
Turn progression - round 2:
Red
Negi
Eleanor
Fargrim 5/9HP & Prone
Rallas 0/9HP (Disabled) & Prone
Blue
Rolan
Ezekias
Those in bold are up! :)
Fargrim Arikfind |
From the ground, Fargrim sees no immediate way to help. However as the creatures still seem to regard her as a thread, she does her best to distract.
aid another granting +2 to hit red to Negri: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 2 - 4 = 12
Only need to get to ten to succeed with the aid-another, so Negri, you are at +2!
Her determination continues to help heal the stricken inquisitor.
+1 hp
Ezekias Silverthane |
It's been a week since we've heard from Eleanor. It's possible some RL crisis has swallowed her gaming time. At what point should we bot her and move on?
Fargrim Arikfind |
Things will slow down over Christmas as well. If we want a chance at completing within GD3 we probably need to progress. But this battle is not going well for us...
Ezekias Silverthane |
Looking at her character sheet, I think longbow is her best bet here.
Suggestion:
Eleanor frowns as she looks for an opening to get close to the lions, but the mass of bodies in the way provides none. Reacting quickly, however, she readies and fires her bow at the red one.
longbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Wow. So spectacularly bad. Next time someone else is in charge.
Fargrim Arikfind |
And that is before you count the -4 for firing into melee and -4 for cover. That is pretty close to the worst result possible. Only way to get worse would be a dex penalty and no BAB
Rolan Sunsearcher |
And Ezekias is no longer allowed to play other characters :), but barring the impressively bad luck, I agree that that's probably the smartest thing to do.
Ezekias Silverthane |
I'm this far from being banned from playing my own character after that result.
StephNyan |
You're not too far from completing the game. Don't worry, we'll finish way before the 1st of February.
Rallas decides to stay prone, hoping the lions won't attack him.
Fargrim tries to aid Negi, but Negi is unable to hit the red lion with his attack.
Eleanor turns to face the wall opposite of the lions, and shoots an arrow at it. She misses the wall.
Bite, vs. Prone: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 4 = 17 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
The blue lion bites Fargrim, and takes her out.
Turn progression - round 2:
Red
Negi
Eleanor
Fargrim -1/9HP (Unstable)
Rallas 0/9HP (Disabled) & Prone
Blue
Rolan
Ezekias
Rolan and Ezekias are up. Come on, guys! Make some good rolls! :)
Rallas Linnderil |
sorry I can't help too much guys...Rallas is kind of messed up right now.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Rolan Sunsearcher |
Rolan swings yet again at the blue lion, all the while cursing Eleanor's aim, Hey, over here!
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Ezekias Silverthane |
Ezekias growls in frustration at not being able to get close to his foes.
Negi, let me in!
Can you 5 ft step to your right?
He draws his rapier and waits for an opening.
Fargrim Arikfind |
You can probably step over the prone bodies. It may even give us a chance with withdraw/crawl 5 if the GM is feeling kind.
Ezekias Silverthane |
@GM, can I step over the prone bodies as Fargrim suggests?
Fargrim Arikfind |
Technically you could drag them free (repositon move) and then 5'step I think.
[edit: just checked]
There is a new combat manourvre called "Reposition" that lets you do this. Technically you use it against an enemy, but no reason you shouldn't use against an ally (and just like you can auto fail a save, you can probably auto set your CMD to 0 if you wanted to).
There is also a "Drag" manoeuvre, but that moves you too, so the 5' step to take their place wouldn't work.
Ezekias Silverthane |
@Negi, I don't always wear my smallclothes. Don't look up.
@Fargrim, I'd pull you to safety if I could, but I think dragging a comatose body is a different action than deftly maneuvering a live opponent who's tracking your movement. Plus it would provoke an AOO, which with my luck would put me comatose on top of you. See my comment to Negi above for why this might be a suboptimal outcome for you.
Ezekias steps up to protect Fargrim's bleeding body, 5 ft step, energizes his rapier Arcane Pool, swift action, and strikes at Red.
Rapier, Arcane Enhanced: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Chew on my steel instead, brute!
Edit: Upon rereading the Reposition maneuver, it does say it provokes an AOO from the target of the reposition (which, being both friend and disabled, is unlikely to attack me). It still doesn't seem realistic to me, but if GM will allow it without AOO from the lions that's what I'll do.
Eleanor Evelyn |
Eleanor continues to aim her bow as attempts to fire off another shot, however she doesn't appear to be very proficient with her bow..
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
1d8 ⇒ 8
StephNyan |
These lions focus on taking all of you down, and Fargrim's already down. Don't worry about Fargrim being attacked, and just stand in her square :)
Rolan curses at Eleanor's aim, then shows her how its down by inflicting a wound to the blue lion.
Ezekias steps forward so he stands over Fargrim, enhances his rapier, and stabs the red lion.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The red lion stares at Rallas, and seems to realize the elf poses no threat in his current state. It ignores Ezekias' when the the human tries to provoke it, and tries to bite Negi. The halfling easily dodges the attack.
Eleanor realizes she has to aim for the lions, and not for the wall opposite of them. This revelation shocks Eleanor a bit, and she misses again.
Turn progression - round 3:
Red -5HP
Negi
Eleanor
Fargrim -1/9HP (Unstable)
Rallas 0/9HP (Disabled) & Prone
Blue -3HP
Rolan
Ezekias
Those in bold are up. Fargrim will have to make a roll to stabilize.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim's form convulses.
stabilize: 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 - 1 = 9
Did you include the fast healing when you calculated Fargrims hit points?
StephNyan |
@Fargrim: It seems I've forgotten about Fast Healing in both round 2 and 3. You're at 1 HP now. Retconning last turn is a bit of a pain now, but you may retcon this turn. Since you're not down, and thus can't share a square with someone else, you've been moved to the nearest unoccupied square.
Negi attacks the red lion with his sword, and cuts off one of the lion's ears.
Turn progression - round 3:
Red -9HP
Negi
Eleanor
Fargrim 1/9HP, Fast Healing
Rallas 0/9HP, Disabled, Prone
Blue -3HP
Rolan
Ezekias
Those in bold are up.
Fargrim Arikfind |
That is fine, Fargrim was obvious in shock from the quick assault and took a round to recover. She was down due to being tripped though, so I'm assuming she is still prone
Fargrim climbs to here feet, now she is out of range of the lion.
"Desna guide your hand" she says to Negi
Casts guidance on Negi, giving him +1 to hit for the round
StephNyan |
Fargrim gets up, and casts guidance on Negi.
Rallas stays quiet, and doesn't move.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Auto Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
The blue lion attacks Ezekias, both hurting and tripping him.
Turn progression - round 3:
Red -9HP
Negi (Has guidance on him)
Eleanor
Fargrim 1/9HP, Fast Healing
Rallas 0/9HP, Disabled, Prone
Blue -3HP
Rolan
Ezekias 7/13HP, Prone
Rolan and Ezekias are up.
@Ezekias: Your FF AC in your quick stats is higher than your AC. I believe your FF AC should be 13?
Ezekias Silverthane |
Yow, these guys are nasty.
Ezekias scrambles to his feet (provoking an AOO, I believe) and strikes out at the blue lion.
Rapier, Arcane Enhanced: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
FF AC fixed, thanks for catching that.
Rolan Sunsearcher |
Rolan joins Ezekias in his attack against the blue lion, striking out in an attempt to distract the beast from his wounded friends.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Edit: Perhaps he distracts the lion with his spectacular lack of skill, rivaled only by that of Ezekias/Eleanor, that seems to be pretty much his best bet to aid in this round.
Ezekias Silverthane |
Negi, if you move 1 square to the West, we'll both be flanking Red for +2 to hit bonus. The way we're rolling, we need it.
Same for you, Rolan, if you move 2 squares to the West.
Rolan Sunsearcher |
That's a very good point. StephNyan, if I can retcon my post, then I'll have Rolan try to acrobatics to flank with Ezekias. If not, then I'll do it next turn.
Acrobatics if allowed: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Ezekias Silverthane |
Ezekias casts "Manipulate The Good Looking And Witty GM With Shameless Empty Flattery" to prevent Rolan from being allowed to pratfall in front of Blue.
On a serious note, if Rolan moved one square left, would we be flanking Blue?
Like this:
. . E
. B .
. R .
The rules are not 100% clear to me. I can draw a line from E(zekias) to R(olan) that cuts significantly through B(lue), forcing Blue to focus on both front and back opponents. That's the essence of flanking to me, but the rules seem to suggest it's only direct opposite positions that work.
StephNyan |
AoO Bite, Blue: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Auto Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
AoO Bite, Red: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Auto Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Ezekias tries to get up, but is immediately prone again when the blue lion's bite automatically trips him. Due to being adjacent to both lions, the red lion also makes use of this opportunity to attack Ezekias. He goes down, and doesn't get to make the attack he wanted to.
Stabilize, Ezekias: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 1 - 2 = 16 Stable
Turn progression - round 3:
Red -9HP
Negi (Has guidance on him)
Eleanor
Fargrim 1/9HP, Fast Healing
Rallas 0/9HP, Disabled, Prone
Blue -3HP
Rolan
Ezekias -2/13HP, Prone
@Ezekias: You have to be on opposite sides to flank. You basically get #2 of this example if you do what you wrote.
@Rolan, do you still wish to move to the lion's other side with Ezekias down? You could try to flank with someone else. The lion took his only AoO for this round, meaning you can't provoke another if you move now.
@Rallas: You were basically delaying, weren't you? If you want, I'll allow you to take your turn now. With the lions unable to take more AoOs, you could spend a move action to crawl away from them. It'd open up a spot near them, and you may be able to get yourself up and healed.
Rolan Sunsearcher |
I didn't move Rolan until you said whether or not he could move, but I do intend to move him to a flanking position. Since Ezekias could get healed, or someone else may take his place, there's no harm in moving to a flanking position anyways.
StephNyan |
Rolan quickly gets on the other side of the blue lion.
Rallas sees an opportunity to get up, and take some distance from the lions.
Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Auto Trip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
The red lion tries to bite Negi, but misses.
Fargrim's fast healing causes her to heal a bit more.
Turn progression - round 4:
Red -9HP
Negi (Has guidance on him)
Eleanor
Fargrim 2/9HP, Fast Healing
Blue -3HP
Rolan
Ezekias -2/13HP, Prone
Rallas 0/9HP, Disabled
Those in bold are up.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim approaches Eleanor.
"Blessings on you too, friend"
Casts guidance on Eleanor also for +1 to hit
