Xien |
Feeling the strength of the arrow pushing his shield, Xien yells "We need to break in!" and pushes again the door at the same time of Altus trying to break in at whatever means.
Strength (aid another): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Revvy Bitterleaf |
The combined strength of Altus and Xien bashes open the door, ripping it of it's hinges.
Behind it stands a bugbear wearing a leather armor and wielding a long bow, a morning star strapped to his belt.
This strange chamber pulses with the green glow of the column of glass-like crystal that forms the core of the tower. The walls of the room are damaged, and the roof is cracked. The spire in the center juts up, just peaking above the crude ceiling. A bed and a side table sit in the northern half of the room, and archery targets line the southern section of wall.
Thanks to the green glow, it's light in here. The bugbear is still blocking the doorway and there's no room to get next to him since Altus and Xien are currently filling the available space

Elvis tries to taunt the Bugbear into making a tactical mistake.

Maybe he will fall over laughing at my pitiful attempt and we can step over his body.
"You son of a Goatwhore! Backup so we can fight like men!!!" Elvis' taunt is punctuated by a bark from Summit.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
The bugbear looks a bit strangely at Elvis his attempt to intimidate him unsure of what the intend was.

Ss'alat attempt works a bit better and leaves the bugbear standing there lost in thought " ..maybe he was talking to his dog..the dog did bark back at him..."

The bugbear is dazed, but as far as I understand the rules..is still blocking the doorway and you can't walk through him. You'd be able to walk past him without provoking if there was space..You just can not go through him.
Xien |
Seeing the bugbear is not reacting, Xien places his shield in front of him and pushes with all his strength trying to overrun the thug.
Overrun+Guidance: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 = 21
If succesful, Xien ends his movement in a flanking position.

Xien just barely is able to push his way past the bugbear Just wondering if there's a reason you didn't bull rush instead of using an overrun? thanks to a bit of divine guidance.

I choose overrun because rather than passing by I was more focused on trying to open the space. And overrun gave us the flanking bonus, and... I frankly did not expect the bugbear to be that rude, but rather end up prone in the floor... good for him! :)
Xien pushes with great strength forcing his path through the stout bugbear thanking the blessing of Serenrae. Impressed by the strength and stability of the creature, he turns facing it, causing the just distraction for Altus to strike a great hit on him.
That was quite good team work actually! Ss'alat fixed him allowing me to avoid the AoO, I overruned him thanks to Alexandria's blessings opening the space and giving Altus a flank so he could smash the bugbear :D

Alexandria throws some fire at the bugbear..but being careful to avoid hitting Altus in the back her aim is of a bit and she isn't able to hit the bugbear (miss due to having to fire into melee/having cover)
The bugbear drops his bow and draws his morningstar and takes a swing at Altus before taking a step out of being flanked.

Altus is right, the bugbear can't that much abuse
@Ss'alat, Daze only works once a minute at a target..so your daze would have failed.
Alexandria steps into the room with her scimitar ready and swings at the bugbear. The Dawnflower is with her this moment as she delivers a viscious upwards cut that takes the bugbears head clear of the rest of it's body sending it against the wall before it falls down to the floor.
The bugbear had a leather armor, morning star, composite longbow (+2 str) a ring (which detect as magical)3 garnets worth 50 gp each , 124 gp and 2 keys ..some quick investigating turns up that one of the keys fits on the lock of the door to this room.
Taking your time to examine this room you discover that there is a secret passage that ends abruptly at an opening 60 feet above the ground. The original passageway was blasted away millennia ago.
Climbing down the tower exterior from here requires a successful DC 25 Climb check.
Xien |
Xien observes how Alexandria cuts down the bugbear with emotion "Great hit! The Dawnflower is really more than beauty!"
The nagaji helps the others register the room. Once the passage is found, he gets a look to were the descend is taking in order to gauge if it is an interesting next step to go.
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
"I suggest we move to the still unexplored locked room now, what do you think?"
Elvis Littlegoat |
Looking disappointed that he didn't get a chance to engage the bugbear, Elvis' mood brightens suddenly as he realizes something. "Perhaps one of the bugbear's keys will fit the lock!"
Alexandria-Shardonz |
Cleaning her blade Alexandria turns to Elvis.
My brave Sir Littlegoat, I do believe you have a great idea. Those keys must be to unlock areas we have not yet reached and most likely that room we were unable to enter. Is anyone hurt or need any medical attention? If not we should move back down stairs.
Alexandria-Shardonz |
Alexandria laughs.
Well I guess the favor of the Dawnflower will protect me
She slips on the ring and waits to see if she feels any magical effects upon herself.
Altus Einziger |
"I don't believe sliding a magic ring on without a clue of what it does is in the cards for me, thanks." Altus says with a shake of his head and then stretches, looking over to Alexandria, "Well fought, ma'am, you are quite nice to have about. A healer and a killer," the grin on his face highlights his fangs.
Revvy Bitterleaf |
Xien scans the room and manages to find the secret door leading out of the tower (as described above, but not much else) and then suggest going back to the locked door.
Alexandria slips on the ring and does find a slight magical effect run through her body..but has no idea what it's effect will be unless she experiments with it and triggers it.
The party moves down the staircase and finds that the second key you found indeed fits on that door. After unlocking and opening it you see;
Rows of wooden racks on the walls of this room hold a ramshackle collection of rusty blades, scraps of armor, and warped arrows.
Unfortunately, goblins aren’t very good weaponsmiths. Six Small dogslicers and six Small horsechoppers are piled haphazardly around the room. The other items are unusable and worthless.
Xien |
Xien checks for any concealed weapon of interest.
Appraise: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (18) - 3 = 15
But he is not very good to value objects "Nothing of value here. Shall we continue exploring what lays downstairs?"
If nothing tells against it, the nagaji walks out and follows the stairs down very carefully, trident at hand ready to be thrown.
Good to see I will be able to use Xien! Thanks for letting us now :)
Elvis Littlegoat |
"Let's see what's down the stairs!"
Revvy Bitterleaf |
There isn't a map for the location, so improvising a bit. To keep it simple since you come down a staircase and into a room (ignore the doors) - reusing the map, with you on the stairs and going towards location A11
To repeat description;
Stairs wind downward to the right, circling around a glowing wall of semi-translucent green stone. It seems the Azlanti tower was built
around a core of some other material—a spire within a spire.
These stairs circle around the Spire, leading down.
Just above the landing, the green crystal Spire is marked with a complex sigil the size of a human hand. It’s noticeably different from the sigil recorded on the scroll in the room you've already, although they are stylistically similar.
Sounds of moaning and slow, shuffling footsteps can be heard comming from below.
As you move down the stairs you encounter a second landing, this one guarded by 2 dead looking, slow moving goblins

May I have held instead?
Not entirely sure what you mean with held? Do you mean delay your action? Sure, but since there's no real difference in you waiting till after the zombie goblins turn and taking an action now and taking a new action after it you might as well get the benefit of extra defenses before it attacks. At least in the way I handle initiative in pbp games (grouped as opposed individually in order)

Alexandria slices through the last standing zombie (and since it won't matter now) Xien calls upon the power deep within himself and absolutely demolishes what little is left of the undead creature.
Congratulations, you've cleared the way for the pathfinder Society's Agents to explore the next level of the Emerald Spire without having to worry about goblin attacks
