The city of Magnimar is no stranger to crime—even to crimes as violent as murder. Brutal Sczarni turf wars occasionally spill blood across the typically peaceful streets, nearly forgotten hungry things skitter amid the foundations of ancient monuments, even the infamous Skinsaw Cult has
been intermittently active in the coastal Varisian city. But the latest set of murders to strike Magnimar bears a different calling card than that of the murder cult—a new killer stalks the city streets in the early dawn hours!

For the past few days, the city of Magnimar has been in the grip of terror. A murderer stalks the city’s streets in the gloaming pre-dawn hours, and each morning it seems a new and freshly mutilated victim appears in an alley. There have been four bodies discovered to date—all worshipers of the goddess of healing and redemption, Sarenrae. The city guard desperately wants to catch the murderer, yet he is a cagey and elusive foe. In order to expedite the search, they have turned to you—known allies of Magnimar and strong heroes of the people—to aid them in stopping the culprit before he slays again.

The city guard leads you to a woman who introduces herself as Kasadei, she's the one in charge of the investigation.

She tells you that the city guards have planned a risky ambush to lure
the murderer out so that he can be captured, but none of the guards have the precise training required to pull the ambush off successfully—She (Kasadei)'s been tasked with finding some specialists who can do this, and she’s chosen to contact the Pathfinder Society..who've send over you. She’s been given authority to reward you with a payment of 3,000 gp if you can bring the murderer to justice.

She also informs you the guards have already done a fair amount of investigation, and relates what they’ve learned so far;

The Murder Sites: All of the murders took place in the pre-dawn hours in alleys along the northwestern waterfront.

The Victims: Each body was stabbed multiple times by a dagger, and the hearts were cut out. None of the missing hearts have been located yet. All four were traveling worshipers of Sarenrae, but beyond that, the bodies seem to have no real connections.
Interrogations using the speak with dead spell have revealed few clues, since all four victims were attacked from behind.
In all four cases, the victims were taking a traditional “dawnwalk” (a religious observance during which a worshiper of Sarenrae walks and prays during the hours before and after sunrise) when they were attacked. Some of the corpses interviewed remembered noticing a sudden cessation of sound just before they were attacked.
The most recent victim even caught a glimpse of the knife used to stab him—a dagger bearing a strange symbol of a white feather dipped in
blood. The guards haven’t been able to identify this symbol yet.

DC 20 Knowledge (religion):
You identify the symbol as that of Shax, the demon lord of lies and murder.

He also has several ioun stones floating in a circle around the halo, making it look like a strange skinny planet with moons orbiting it.

"Evil is afoot, there is no doubt. If the cult of Shax is murdering citizens, I am sure that something nefarious is being done with the poor victims' hearts. We must find this cult and bring them to justice at all costs. I am Iranar, and this is my brother Shat."

Next to him, a brutish human steps out of the shadows, almost the antithesis to his half-brother. Iranar flashes an apologetic smile. "He doesn't speak much. He has a tendency to throw things when he gets agitated, so try to stay out of the way when there's someone evil around."

Finding a holy symbol (wooden version =1gp, you can also buy more expensive ones), the cleric robes shouldn't be more expensive and should also be easily obtained. You do some scouting in the area until you find a location that you like.

Scarab Sages

Reflex save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

The assassin takes a hit but after blinking a few times quickly with her eyes seems to be almost be able to focus.

Seeing someone jump down from a roof almost on top of her she swings her knife in an attempt to keep him away To hit Shat's AC: 1d20 + 8 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 4 - 1 = 20 (-4 from prone, -1 dazzled) slicing Shat in his hands before he manages to close them around her. Damage Shat: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 distracted by the blood running down his hands Shat is unable to grab a hold of the assassin (penalty of 6 for damage taken on the attempt)

Then out of no where (or rather a nearby rooftop) a humanoid seemingly made out of stone with claws, horns and wings lands next to the prone assassin and picks her of the ground, then starts to beat it's wings again and seems to get ready to jump into the air

Not questioning how you got the high caster lvl, but I am wondering a bit how you got past the max damage;5d4 part, I know there's a metamagic feat that allows you to add 5 more die to a spell, but you don't seem to have that

The assassin takes a hit Going to wait to apply damage to see if it is indeed more then 5d4 - but she does take damage but after blinking a few times quickly with her eyes seems to be almost be able to focus.

That's what the rod of Intensify lets me do, 3/day I can apply that Metamagic feat to a spell, which lets it deal up to 10d4 dice.

Julian downs a potion and immediately rushes the would be assassin. His feral nature taking over as the drool rolls from his mouth it's almost as of he looks like a werewolf or barghest.

1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 11 + 2 = 211d8 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
