Octaris frowns, when the crystal proves resistant to his magic.
"The great Octaris will no be denied!" He squeals, as water vapor and mist start to gather around him once more.
Well, lets try this again! Same crystal he already damaged, but this time, I will add the pushing infusion to the blast, and maybe push the damn crystal out of alignment!
Bard song is currently down? If it isn't, add 2 to these!
Water Blast: 1d20 + 14 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 14 + 1 = 22, for 3d6 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6, 2) + 8 + 1 = 22 damage.

Krakos smashes his Morningstar into the same crystal as Octaris.
[Dice=Attack]d20+9; 1d8+9
a couple things. Does Krakos have the movement to get there? You are in combat time. Also, I haven’t posted it yet, but Octaris destroyed his crystal. So, go ahead and repost an action
Octarus let’s forth a mighty water blast, destroying s third crystal. Two still remain as the sound gets louder.
Ember the micro-dragon |
Ember starts dancing again, looking about warily for further electrical discharges.
Inspiration is back up. 2nd round of use.
GM Silbeg |
For the sake of keeping things moving.
Krakos, now recovered from whatever happened to him when he struck the crystal, moves towards another one.
He enters the "aroma room". Rows of silver pipes emerge from the ground in this otherwise unadorned room. A few of the pipes are capped with silver lids. Similar lids rest on the floor near the open pipes.
Double move

The sounds of the maelstrom, and from the remaining crystals grows ever louder, giving the impression that they are about to burst again!
VileLackey |
Octaris continues to perform his version of water magic, gathering the moisture all around, then releasing it once more, this time at the crystal hovering over the hovering table.
Again, blast, and move action to gather power to apply the pushing infusion, and attempt to push the crystal out of its socket.
Dunno if that last bit will work, but its only a move action to try! =)
Water Blast!: 1d20 + 14 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 14 + 1 + 2 = 31, for 3d6 + 8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5, 5, 2) + 8 + 2 + 1 = 23 water damage.
bull rush: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 2 = 26
Rhyol 'Volcano' the Thoqqua |
Somewhat satisfied with the destruction of the gem, Rhyol feels the build up of the energy emanating from the crystals again, and the thoqqua figures another discharge is coming soon. Moving out into the main chamber, she sees that the wise water mephit seems to be handling one of the remaining two, but only the slow-moving oread is anywhere near the other!
The swiftly-moving thoqqua darts past Krakos and summons the magic of her amulet to help deal a crushing blow to the crystal in the pipes room. Maybe if the last two gems are destroyed quickly, they can avoid another electrical storm like the one they endured moments ago...

Standard action to trigger blast, and finishing the spell isn't enough. Only one blast, as a standard;.
Zephyr's spell finishes, and he lets forth a blast at the last crystal. Unfortunately, the electrically charged crystal does not seem affected.
GM Silbeg |
Octaris lets fly another water blast, which does not completely destroy it, nor does it knock it loose.
Rhyol's mighty blast, however, does destroy the one in the aroma room.
Then the crystals reach a crescendo, and electricity flies out! The charger seems greatly diminished, though!

@GM the spell says Immediately upon completion of the spell, and once per round thereafter, you may call down a 5-foot-wide, 30-foot-long, vertical bolt of lightning that deals 3d6 points of electricity damage.
So I finish the spell and can call a bolt of lightning, then it's my turn and I can use a standard action to call another one. If I couldn't it will use both my full round action of my previous round and my standard from the new round.

Huh, guess i hadn't read the spell recently. I stand corrected!!
Regardless, the lightning does nothing to the crystals.Ember the micro-dragon |
"Are you trying to charge them?" asks Ember, confused.
She ends her dance, sensing the last crystal is about to be destroyed.
GM Silbeg |
Octaris does, indeed, destroy the last crystal, and the humming goes away.
I have to review which rooms you've explored... but if someone wants to recap, I'd appreciate it!
GM Silbeg |
Description for the "vapor room" is there from when Rhyol entered it
Octaris
A large block of black granite hovers in the air, surrounded by floating chairs.
This definitely looks like a very fancy meeting room, Interestingly, the shards of the crystal have all settled on the table, even through they originally spread out.
VileLackey |
"A souvenir!" The little mephit will say, as he picks up one of the shards, before glancing around the room curiously.
He quickly grows bored with the floating table, however, such things not nearly as interesting on the plane of Air.
He flies back out of the room, looking around with a slight frown.
His eyes go up to the maelstrom overhead, then flies over the library, to see if there's anything in there that might make him look smart.
GM Silbeg |
The shelves of this library hover and hang from the walls at a variety of artistic angles. Each shelf contains a minor magical effect that directs gravity toward its back, both preventing the contents from tumbling out, as well as preventing the books from degrading over time. Most of the knowledge contained in the volumes here is esoteric and extraordinarily specific. Volumes with titles such as Breathing, Volume XI: Concerning the Respiration of Mephits and Fruit of the Forest of Oils: A Treatise on the Safe Harvesting of Unknown Alchemical Reagents Suspended in Water are common.
You can search for information here - perception checks.
Rhyol 'Volcano' the Thoqqua |
Rhyol takes a long moment to calm herself when the combat ends, spreading out the gem shards so that they do not reassamble to cause more hurt. Though injured from the electrical bursts, the thoqqua takes a look at the pipes, finding them both interesting and familiar. Rhyol herself has learned to speak in a similar manner to how these work, and she looks for a way to make sound issue forth - if anything presents itself.
Perception Check DRR: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Check out the Aroma Room, maybe see if she can get the pipes to work and figure out what they might do. Replace those fallen caps as well, if it seems like it might help (and if she's able to do so).
PREGEN - PFS - |
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Zephir is very interested in the knowledge inside the library and look everywhere, hoping to find something about the figure represented in the paintings and to which the ancient palace belonged to.
GM Silbeg |
Rhyol tries making sounds with the pipes, but they don't seem to work. Perhaps if she tries to pull one of the end caps off? Strength check
Zephyr gets overly interested in the library, and spends ten minutes searching the stacks.
He finds a ledger that indicates that the library belonged to a djinni by the name of Pahwal ijil Ranginori, who was so devoted a servant and worshipper of a being called Ranginori that he was granted the immense honor of taking Ranginori’s name as a part of his own.
Knowledge History, Religion, or Planes, please!
GM Silbeg |
Zephyr finds several relevant volumes, which include depictions of Ranginori’s form, prayers, and hundreds of tales of Ranginori’s acts that portray him as a benevolent leader—albeit acts last performed millennia ago. The volumes also speak of an ever-shifting city at the center of his realm, where his worshipers could freely visit.
VileLackey |
Nice, two 20's in a row! =)
Octaris seems slightly disappointed that Zephyr managed to find some useful information, and not him. Still, he takes it in stride, covers for himself.
"Ah, yes... Pahwal!" He exclaims, "I know him, of course. Very powerful... rivaling even myself!"
Bluff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
"But..." he adds, eventually. "Though that might explain what this place is. It does not really tell us why it is here... or what that is all about." He points up at the Maelstrom overhead.
Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
GM Silbeg |
The cyclone is a ward of some kind that preserves a boundary between the Plane of Air and the Maelstrom, a plane of primal chaos. As Octaris gets close to it, he feels a pressure pushing him back.
Also, he figures that the maelstrom's "haunt" would have been damaged by elemental instead of positive energies.
GM Silbeg |
Octaris, you'll have to try it to find out. However, with create water, only the last casting of water will remain.
GM Silbeg |
Huh... I could swear I remember reading something about that... wonder where... However OOC comments are just that. It would be preferable to say that you are casting the spell and then observing the effects... then move on after I post.
Octaris uses his magics to create water in the meeting room. The water immediately starts flowing towards the table.
VileLackey |
I was intending to create a descriptive IC post, was hoping for information to work with, so I wasn't saying stuff that wasn't actually how it worked. Thus the OOC
Seeing the water moving towards the table, the little mephit gives a happy chuckle, and then immediately starts to pull more water out of the air, directly over the table, until quite the large pool starts to form. He sits down in the middle of it, and calls up even more.
My hope is to create a large enough pool of water, for a small sized mephit to sit in, and get my fast healing going =)
VileLackey |
wee! healing problem solved!
As he sits there in the strangely cohesive pool of water, floating on top of the, itself floating, table, he does his best to strike up a thoughtful pose.
"I will ponder the correct course of action while my arcane might deals with these injuries!" He intones imperiously... the tone somewhat lessened by his high pitched voice.
Some of the electrical burns start to heal over as he sits there thinking.
Though I'm still not sure what we're supposed to do next... are we missing a door or a stairway or something? Been a while, and I may have missed/forgotten something.
Rhyol 'Volcano' the Thoqqua |
Rhyol experiments with the pipes, not wanting to get too close to the books where she might inadvertently burn them to ashes. The thoqqua tries to pry off one of the end caps in order to create sounds.

Yes, healing please! Do we have a cleric? :) Rhyol does have a CLW potion, but that'd be a drop in the proverbial bucket.
