He takes a sip of ale before addressing the lot of you, Look, none of you are rookies, which is why we are sending you on an important mission. We want you to head Ustalav, and scout out the area for possible site locations of a new Lodge for the Society. Please prepare yourselves for the trek ahead and leave as soon as your ready.

With that Adril heads out of the room, and you prepare yourselves as needed for the trek.

Pleas let me know when you are ready with all your purchases, then I will get you into the actual meat and bones of the mod :)

Standing with the group is a large oread-his heritage is quite clear from his stony skin and small sprouts of grass growing out of his back and shoulders. He bows his head to each of you and hands you a small business card:

My name is Boge Granitefist. My faith has demanded of me a vow of silence.

He then follows this up with a small rice-paper pamphlet. On the front of the pamphlet is a smiling family eating a picnic in the woods, underneath which is the caption, Have you heard the good news about the Green Faith? The pamphlet is mostly filled with propaganda information about the Green Faith and why you should convert immediately.

still awaiting on the "go ahead" from Hroth to make their final purchases before setting forward

Dark Archive

Since we seem to be doing introductions

He stands almost seven feet tall. The mask over his head is made of finely carved wood in the form of a charau-ka monkey demon, the kind of which you might have seen on exhibit at the Blakros Museum. As he lifts the mask to speak, those in attendance might notice that aside from his fine chain shirt and some basic slacks and boots, his ashy grey skin is bare. His whole body is covered in rows of black rectangular tattoos, each outlined in a red dye that seems to glow with a languid pulse. Golden yellow and black fills his eyes. Two shortspears are strapped across his back, four cases filled to the brim with scroll paper, some ink vials and a pen, and an ironbound tome hang from his belt.

He grins, revealing yellowed orcish canines. "Nice to meetcha, bruddas. Da name's Idemi. Idemi N'josk. Dis here be Berith. Don't pay too much attention to what he says."

Idemi starts scrawling out a spell onto a piece of parchment. He finishes writing and holds up the piece of parchment, letting it fly away in the wind. He pulls out his wand and taps Berith, and a momentary spacial distortion makes it obvious that he cast Mage Armor.

The figure standing next to Idemi carves an odd silhouette. An empty suit of halfling-sized black armor with no helmet sits astride a brown pony, holding a guisarme with the butt resting on the ground. At a close inspection, the armor is actually connected directly to the horse, revealing the two to be one and the same creature.

The horse head speaks. The voice is deep and monotonous. "Greetings. My name is Duke Berith. I am a Duke of Hell with 66 legions of demons at my command. I am very pleased to be here, and I especially enjoy my current form."

@Berith: just for your information, in the PF universe devils come from Hell and demons come from the Abyss. Devils are always lawful and demons are always chaotic.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18

Boge frowns at the mention of Hell and demons and rummages around in his pack, handing a piece of paper to what he thinks is a very misled halfling. The paper reads, Have you heard the good news about the Green Faith?

You're starting to get the idea that this is Boge's main form of communication.

The group prepares for the journey into Ustalav. Magical goods are procured and passed around as needed. The group then takes a charter from Absalom to Andoren, goes by foot to Kerse then another charter to Caliphas. The group visits many places in Ustalav, and they get mixed reactions.

You make you way towards Carrion Hill, the clouds become gray and imposing. Rain starts to trickle and in a matter of moments the trickle seems to become a full on rain. You enter Carrion Hill to hear town criers moving about the city, yelling at the top of their lungs, Carrion Hill needs heroes! Men of stout heart and bravery are asked to come to Crown Manor with all haste, there to receive a task worthy of their skill and talents and a reward of suitable magnificence. Make haste to Crown Manor! Make haste!

"Heroes like us? It might be an opportunity to know better the area and the important persons like this Crown Mayor." Voros says to the party.

He is rather small and if most of his flesh is hidden by an ample and dirty cloak, you can see his face, which is ugly and has a grey-red color. You also notice that his teeth are very sharp.
You can see a long tail that unfolds itself from time to time from under the cloak. The only weapon he seems to carry is a longbow.

Aviendha sits astride her Hippogriff Havok while entering the town. From up there she says "Yes it might be a good opportunity to gain the favor of the town and establish a foothold for the Society here."
She has her lance at the ready and a well polished scimitar on her belt on one side and a whip on the other. On her back is a large greatsword and a silver hammer.

Your group decides to help out the town, hoping that in doing so you will give the Society an edge in gaining another Lodge in the country. You travel the streets of the very densely packed city. One such this size should be bustling with activity, but the expect ions and reality are quite opposite. The city and streets are quite deserted–even the crowd usually perched atop eaves and gables have taken flight and are circling ahead, cawing in fear.

You notice that shops are closed...and even the beggars that would be out front seem to have vanished. The rain continues to come down as you approach Crown Manor. Two city guard, known as Crows, dressed in black leather armor and chains wielding bows and longswords, stand guard. When they see adventurers approach, their somber expressions flicker with hope and they wave for you to enter the manor and follow them, dripping and wet, into the central hall.

In the great hall, several members of the Crows stand guard while the mayor, a distracted and worried man, sits in a tall black chair. When he sees you enter, he straightens up and says, At least we’ve got a few backbones still upright in this place, he then gestures for you to take a seat, clears his throat, then continues.

I thank you for attending in our hour of need—Carrion Hill has a long history of battle, yet always before its enemies have attacked from outside our walls. We are fortified to defend against such attacks, but now we face an entirely different threat. Our enemy is already here, dwelling in the tunnels and catacombs below and surfacing to strike without warning.

As you may have heard, the first of these attacks occurred early this very morning, when something huge came up from below in a part of the Tangles called Slipper Market. It partially destroyed a building and killed a half dozen locals before retreating into the ruined structure. The Crows were swift to reply, led by our own Commander Garus, but when they arrived, they were slaughtered to the last.

Since then, the thing has moved on, surfacing no less than three times in different parts of the city, crushing buildings from below and slaying anyone it finds inside. I’ve got the entire force of the city watch in reserve, and with each new event they respond quickly, but the damage is always done by the time they arrive. Already there is talk of war and invasion, but I still believe that what we face is a single horror. If we can only figure out what it is, we might be able to defeat it. And this is where your group comes in—the horror has moved on from its initial point of entrance, but if you can explore the ruins in Slipper Market, perhaps you can find some sort of clue to tell us what it is we face. I cannot spare any of my Crows to aid you, for they are needed in keeping order in the streets, but if indeed you can find something... anything... about this monster from below, I will pay you handsomely: 1,500 gold for solid information, and twice again that amount for aiding in defeating the horror.

After all that sinks in, he tells you he will answer whatever questions you may have to the best of his ability b

Idemi pulls out his tome and begins taking notes. "Did anythin' out-a-da-ordinary happen around da time da attacks started? Any strange visitors or weird happenin's?"

The mayor looks to Wizzy, What does it look like? Whatever emerged to destroy the buildings was certainly the size of a giant, judging by the extent of the damage it inflicted, but those who saw these events have difficulty describing it—it was as if the buildings were pulled apart from within. Some few who saw more say that the creature itself was strangely hard to see, as if it kept to the shadows or were invisible.

He than turns to Idemi, No visitors or anything like that, the Slipper Market may know more, but nothing was ever reported to me

The group heads on over to Slipper Market. Normally a bustling market, it is abandoned save for two dozen milling Crows. The groups Crow escort leads them through this throng of guards to a side street that has been roped off; one guard lifts a soaking, dripping rope barrier to let the group through and indicates that both Tarrig’s home and the partially ruined building where the first attack occurred lie just beyond. Wide-eyed faces watch the market from upper floor windows, but no one speaks—the only sound is the constant onrush of the driving rain.

The guards have set up benches under a barely functioning open tent in the market near the roped-off street entrance. Under the tent lie the remains of three bodies—all the guards have been able to recover from the site so far. Garus is not among the dead. The first two bodies are a pair of homeless thugs who lived in the alley (area A2). The first has been flattened by a single crushing attack to the chest, while the second has had his back broken. The third body is one of the Crows, a man whose body has been twisted twice around at the waist like a knotted rag and whose arms are broken in so many places that they flop like tentacles. His chain shirt and sword are twisted like the rest of his body—whatever did this to the man was huge and incredibly strong. None of the bodies are in any condition to function with a speak with dead spell.

Wizzy looks around for clues or signs of...well anything other than the twisted carnage. He checks the alleyway and ruined house.

The side of a single-story wooden house has collapsed outward into this ten-foot-wide alley, adding to the clutter and refuse. The roofs provide some shelter from the rain, leaving swaths of blood and gore on walls here and there. The hideous smell wafting out of the ruined building is as unplacable as it is stomach- turning. Perhaps the strangest is the huge spiral-shaped smear of blood on the wall opposite the partially collapsed building— sheltered by the rain, this ominous rune rises high on the side of the building, as if something enormous had used a broken and bleeding body as a brush to paint its mark.

Wizzy:

You identify the strange spiral as a symbol associated with both magical portals and the Dark Tapestry, the dark region between the stars where ancient gods are said to dwell. You also know there is an association with the Old Cults, a group who worship these ancient beings.

"Why would something associated with the Dark Tapestry be attacking this town? My bet's on someone controlling this thing."

Wizzy peers beyond the opening into the building, seeing a living room is in a complete state of disarray. Doors are smashed open and the northern wall has exploded outward. The furniture is in shambles, and rain leaking in from multiple fresh holes in the roof has done little to wash away the thick layer of sticky black slime that seems to coat every surface— slime that exudes a horrific stench something like an open grave, burnt decay, the air before a thunderstorm, wet and diseased fur, and worse. Scattered amid the slime and rubble are body parts—too many to be from one victim and all strangely bloodless.
