Hey Red! Do you have seats open for this one or was it a private invite only? I've got a level 4 wizard/fighter that should be available by the time it starts.
Khamûl Unqualë |
This guy is in a game currently but we are in the last combat so I expect it to wrap up by next week. I've GM'd this one but haven't had the chance to play it yet. And I LOVE Osirion so I'm excited.

I can potentially bring an alchemist/braniac, although she is 2nd level and squishy. I'm not seeing much of a front line thus far, so I might contemplate a (4th level) pregen of some sort.
Khamûl Unqualë |
Well I did feel bad about not including you in my last Gameday game.
Pft, don't worry about it. I was late in jumping in and you already had a team assembled.
Khamûl Unqualë |
Leaving the wizard for the front line? Ok. . . .
Haha, but actually he's a necromancer. So control undead! There, now we have a front line of zombies and skeletons.
Khamûl Unqualë |
@Melina: Yes indeed! And you win on being the first one to notice.
Several of my characters have somewhat obscure LOTR references. Rumil, my first character, is named after the elf who invented runes/writing (and consequently that character is an elf with Linguistics maxed out). He is mentioned in the Silmarillion (one line I think) and is more prominent in the Book of Lost Tales IIRC.
My dragon disciple Glaurung is of course named after the dragon from the tale of Turin Turambar in the Silmarillion
My sylph druid Súrë Hísië is not a direct reference to a character but his name is in Quenya. I can't remember the translation now (made him a long time ago) but it's something to do with sky or clouds I think.
And of course Khamûl was one of the Ringwraiths and Unqualë (IIRC) is Quenya for "death".
Yeah, I'm not just a Tolkien fan, I've got a serious problem. I mean, I convinced my wife to let me go (back) to New Zealand for our honeymoon.

Funny. I recently read Children of Hurin; very tragic. I've never read the Silmarillon though, somehow, but then I've never read much fantasy in general.
I did take a semester of Finnish in college, though not because of Tokien's linguistic fascination. I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the connection later on between his constructed languages and the tongue.

So, you were probably joking about the dead thing, but if nobody else comes to the party, I say:
Lesser Restore
6 hd skeleton.
...or is that too much for PFS? I'm not actually up on the rules for undead and the campaign.
Khamûl Unqualë |
I wasn't joking about the undead army. Khamul has Control Undead and I've used it before with great results. If/when we run into undead I'll try to take control of them.
Khamûl Unqualë |
Ok, Khamul just finished up his game. He's got a little bit of gold to spend and I should have that finished up before we're ready to start.
Khamûl Unqualë |
Khamûl Unqualë is the most Lord of the Rings name I have ever seen for a character.
...so I looked it up, and it is in fact from LotR. Cool beans.
Oh! I forgot to mention the most important Tolkien connection of all with my favorite character (VC Trotter Flaxseed):
One could make a whole catalogue of interesting tidbits from Christopher Tolkien’s study – such as the fact that Strider was called Trotter until a very late stage in the writing of the book; that Trotter was at one time a hobbit, so named because he wore wooden shoes ; that Tolkien at one point considered a romance between Aragorn and Éowyn; that Tolkien wrote an epilogue to the book, tying up loose ends, but it was dropped before publication (and now appears in Sauron Defeated); and so on . But these developments are best appreciated when read within the context of Christopher Tolkien’s commentary rather than discussed separately.

Heads up: I'll be on a work trip from tomorrow afternoon to Monday night. I think I'll still be able to post at least once/day but just in case I'm holding things up, feel free to bot me.

#55162-17
Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
1d20 ⇒ 18
Thanks GM! Good times! This was the perfect adventure for Khamul I think, haha!
Khamûl Unqualë |
Oh wait! Before we go, I almost forgot that Khamul needs to hear a tale from one of you!
As per his Research Specialist boon, Khamul needs to hear about a different tale each time (so something not on the list). It has to be something your character has played (or at least gotten GM credit for I guess).
Khamul has played:
04-18 The Veteran's Vault
00-01 Silent Tide
00-24 Decline of Glory
05-01 The Glass River Rescue
00-23 Tide of Morning
05-12 Destiny of the Sands Part I
05-15 Destiny of the Sands Part II
05-16 Destiny of the Sands Part III
05-22 Scars of the Third Crusade
And he has already heard about:
03-01 The Frostfur Captives
00-14 The Many Fortunes of Grandmaster Torch
05-08 The Confirmation
04-SP The Ruins of Bonekeep: The Silent Grave
05-SP The Ruins of Bonekeep: Maze to the Mind Slave
04-15 The Cyphermage Deilemma

Melina can dryly relate her tale of exploring a knarr entombed in an iceberg and inhabited by Irrisen Witch who eloped from her native country. (0-4: The Frozen Fingers of Midnight)
