Coins the Crocodile |
Confused by the lack of orders, Coins moves to the opposite side of the bisected giant he had been ordered to flank. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he had a job to do and he was going to do it.

Gro-Khal swaggers up to Pink Face, dragging along his humongous-oversized axe. He gets right next to the giant, not caring if the larger man takes a swing at him. The looming man misses, too terrified of the giant axe that could kill him in one swing. His caution however pays off as Pink nimbly jumps to the side as Gro brings his axe down and creates a crack that extends all the way to the shore of the lake.
Still shivering from his near death experience the giant completely misses the arrows from Shonne. One of them lands where he'd been standing, tumbling down into Gro's Ravine, but the second one finds it's mark and buries deeply into the giant. He crumples onto his knees and looks over to Orange Tusk, a worried look scrunching the scars on his face.
Orange Tusk misses the look, busy with the small Edwin in front of her. She tries to stay out of the reach of his longsword, but her horribly slashed leg makes it hard for her to react and she catches all of his strikes with her body. His first slash takes out her other knee and she topples onto her knees. His second slash cuts up along her arm, and his final cuts across her neck, catching the giant-equivalent of the carotid artery. With a gasp of air she collapses, dying out quickly.
Watching the whole scene with mounting horror, Pink Face gives a cry of despair. Tears streaming down his mottled face he raises his arms and cries out in giant.

Kiti: Untouched, and a good girl!
Edwin: (-23 HP)
Gro-Khal: (-19 HP)
Coins: Confused at having no directions, but untouched
Turk: Untouched, two rounds of raging song used, and up for some giant talkin'

The Averakans give a cry of triumph at the successful taking of the dam. A few stay behind to help tend to the one's injured by the two flying rocks, but most of them rush across the dam.
A few of the group starts to examine the makeshift structure and see if there is anything they can do to bring it down safely. A few more start to take stock of the nearly completely dismantled outpost on this side of the river.
Dhiara, after seeing everything is progressing smoothly approaches Shyvara. "Thank-you for engaging that one with the scarred face before he could hurl more stones at us." She gestures to a few half-orcs and a dwarf who drag four large burlap sacks over. "We found these in the last part of the outpost still standing, but everyone agreed we should give them to you."
However there are a few valuable looking things as well, such as a masterwork dire flail, a masterwork halberd, a small pendant, a stone cube and many art pieces such as an ivory-and-jet cloak clasp, a darkwood ship’s figurehead depicting a roaring linnorm, a platinum crown stripped of gems, a leather satchel stuffed with cat’s eye opals of varying sizes, a golden flute with its holes stoppered with wax, and a collection of masterfully painted ceramic jugs containing ale of... dubious quality.
While the Averakans hurry about, Pink Face gives the group a begging look, pointing at the tusked giant and pleading over and over.
"እሷን አስቀምጪ! ዝም ብለሽ ይሞታል!"
Gro Khal |
Gro-Khal raised his axe and roared a victory cry with the Averakans. Looking around as his emotions began to calm, he barely saw Coins on the other side of the dead giant. "Coins! Come to Gro-Khal!" he yelled as he moved to rejoin the group. He pulled a metal wand from his belt pouch that read "For Healin" in Draconic, and held it up to his comrades. "Anyone can heal Gro-Khal?
Eventual CLW wand: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 6, 6) + 3 = 23 -3 charges
Good work, everyone!
Coins the Crocodile |
Coins came running when he was called by Gro-Kahl. He began following the Nagaji as he always had, a nibble of a giant's finger sticking out of the side of his mouth. Anyone taking the time to study that particular giant would likely find a few fingers missing, if not a whole hand.
Shonne |
Gro-Khal raised his axe and roared a victory cry with the Averakans. Looking around as his emotions began to calm, he barely saw Coins on the other side of the dead giant. "Coins! Come to Gro-Khal!" he yelled as he moved to rejoin the group. He pulled a metal wand from his belt pouch that read "For Healin" in Draconic, and held it up to his comrades. "Anyone can heal Gro-Khal?
A half-dozen Shonnes hold out their hands.
Turk is the only one who can speak Giant in the party. Though if he does not speak up Shonne might be tempted to use this days use of her arcane bond to try to comprehend. Though she won't be able to speak back.
Edwin Towerfall |
Edwin takes out his wand of cure moderate wounds and starts using it on himself.
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4) + 3 = 8
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (7, 7) + 3 = 17
"Who else need this?"
"Gro Khal save that wand I'll cure you!"
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 3 = 12
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 8) + 3 = 14
Then Edwin goes to Shyvaraand and he use his wand on her.
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 8) + 3 = 13
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 8) + 3 = 13
CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6
""Are we all OK now?"
Gro Khal |
"Thanks, Eddie," Gro-Khal said as he put his own wand away and accepted the healing from his friend. Afterwards, he gravitated to the darkwood linnorm, running his hand along it. "Did Gro-Khal mention Gro-Khal is Linworm King?
GM Sedoriku |
Dhiara looks at the art pieces and decorations, before piping up. "I don't have any magic, but I would guess the giants might have had a magic item or two, given the rather extensive stash of art pieces."
While everyone fends over the treasure, she pulls Shyvara aside. With a gesture at the hypnotic woman's forehead, she starts "I can guess why you are here. Tahonikepsu has been trying to get me to meet with him for a while now. But if the organizsation you stand for is as morally upright and well spoken as..." She takes a moment to give a quick glance at the Shonnnes, "... most of your group, then It would behoove me to see what he wants."
________________
Shonne don't waste your magic, if Turk doesn't get a post in in the next 24 hours I'll bot him as translating everything being said.
Turk* |
Turk only uses a single round of performance thanks to Lingering performance. He happily translates Giant any chance he gets and will heal the tusked female himself to stabilize her wounds.
Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
In giant he states I have shown you mercy by saving your woman. Now you will answer our questions, yes?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22
And what I have done with the wand I can undo with the sword. He pulls his black greatsword and indicates the tusked female.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19
Pretty low rolls. Oh well. I doubt it would matter but all the half orcs with us could also use the inspired rage of Turk's song.
Shyvara Emberfury |
As all the giants fall, Shyvara does her best to patch up the townsfolk. I'll use as many charges as needed to do a bit of healing from my wand. Refocusing her attention to Dhaira, she continues, "I am certain that you would benefit from a meeting." Tapping the tiara gently with her index finger, she smiles and adds, "There is a wealth of information to gain, and your wisdom can further provide insight for ages."
Diplomacy (Influence Dhiara?): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
GM Sedoriku |
The scarred and bleeding giant looks at Turk with tears in his eyes. and burbles away in giant. "አመሰግናለሁ. ሁሉንም ጥያቄዎች እፈልጋለሁ! ግድብ እንዲገነቡ ተነገረን... አትጎዳው! ምንድን ነው የምትፈልገው?" As Turk turns to intimidation tactics, he starts almost pleading with you again.
The giant proceeds to spill all of his story.
Pink face, getting lost in his personal agrevances forgetswhere he is for a second before focusing again. "እሺ እኔ ግን ሌላ ምንም የማውቀው ነገር የለም, በእርግጥ! አረንጓዴን ከቀጠሉ ችግር እንዳንፈጥር ቃል እገባለሁ! እባክህ እኛን ተስፋ አድርገን ይሆን?"
Shyvara moves up to the group of downed half-orcs, but Dhiara quickly stays her hand and points to a few healers dotted through out the group that are already at work healing the injured. "There's no need for that, thank-you for the offer though."
The monk seems reassured by Shyvara's words, though, relaxing slightly. "I guess if that information proved helpful, then It's not a waste of time to go to a meeting... Admittedly after this conflict is over."
She looks back at the Averakans who are already setting explosives on the dam and setting up a bonfire to start signalling the city in warning. "I believe that he won't be waiting too long." She turns back to Shyvara and the rest of the group. "But I understand you had another objective. You should go ahead. I'll make sure the group here stays safe and that these two giants are taken into custody. You should go on ahead. If I can get everything handled in time I'll try coming around and meet up with you."
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
As the group moves off into the mountains, you hear a loud call of "3, 2, 1, fire" followed by a loud explosion and the rushing of gallons of water.
You progress up the Little Thunder for an hour or so, getting a good understanding of why its called the 'thunder' as you can only hear each other by shouting. After a but the path splits off and an sign stating "Winter Lodge that way ---->" points you up it.
After another three or so hours of hiking the sun starts to crest over the horizon as you catch your first glimpse of the building. The trail lead to an immense lodge built from coarsely shaped boulders and mortar with a heavy slate roof. Massive doors stand slightly ajar, but they are so thick that even the steady gusts from the Steaming Sea hardly shift them. Deep chortling punctuated with dull chopping sounds drifts out from the structure along with wisps of smoke.
The scenario is pretty specific on this, the trip takes four hours plus, and that means most of your buffs have worn off. What do you want to do?
Turk* |
Examining the foreboding portal Turk asks What is the plan? We go in fighting?
From where we are can we see if there is another entrance? Might be worth scouting around the structure if its not build into the cliff or something. Also, can someone remind me what our actual goal is here? Sorry, been a while and being on the road sorta wipes my memory of such things.
Gro Khal |
"Gro-Khal always go in fighting. But would like to drink embiggening potion before going in this time." Gro-Khal says, not thinking about scouting or anything other than wrecking things normally bigger than him.
Shonne |
"Turk, ask about what they think are all doing here, and also about the ettin." Shonne says. "Also ask them if any of them have been beyond this point."
She feels sorry of anyone who has to on the romantic holidays try to come up with a love poem containing a rhyme for the word 'orange', and agrees to the giant's terms.
Regardless of what happens, Shonne votes to continue on, and that by itself (for the next few minutes) is enough to see the measure pass.
Tiki. |
Tiki nods at the mention of fighting and reapplies the buffs that had since worn off.
barkskin, longstrider, feather step
Turk* |
Seeing that it seems to be the time to prepare for a fight Turk also casts some buff spells on himself.
Feather Step and Good Hope on everyone just before the group goes in.
+2 morale bonus on saving throws, attacks, ability checks, and weapon damage rolls.
Shonne |
I'll wait for my answers (and the four hours ;)) before figuring out what magic to employ. Also what's the terrain like up here? Snow?
Gro Khal |
Gro-Khal will carry a potion of Enlarge Person out. If we get the drop on someone (perhaps with perception/scouting) he'll prepare using Martial Flexibility for Improved Crit and drink the potion.
Any applicable perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29
GM Sedoriku |
The giant quickly responds to Shonne with a bit of poison in his voice, beofre he realizes where he is again and grovels again. "ወደ አገራችን መመለስ! ያ ነው እኛ እዚህ ያደረግነው! .... ግን ኦሪትን ብቻ ይቀጥሉና እኔ አቆማለሁ."
After a few seconds of groveling, he speaks up, the look of complete lack of knowledge on his face. "ስለአሌቲን ብዙ ነገር አታውቅም ነገር ግን የተበሳጨ እና ከዋናው መሪ የተሰጠውን ቀጥተኛ ትዕዛዝ ችላ ብሎ ነበር. በተጨማሪም በፀጉር የተሻለውን ሀሳብ እንዲያገኙ ሰዎችን ለመመልመልም ጥረት አድርገዋል."
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The large building doesn't seem to have any obvious back entrances from what you can see of the front of it. A quick walk around the building also doesn't show any obvious entrances but the front.
Tiki, and Turk cast some spells in preperation and Gro-Khal prepares a potion. The nagaji's sharp hearing can pick out the individual voices in the lodge, though. There are rythmic thumps on what sounds like a wooden table with ocassional deep screams and grunts of pain from two different creatures. There is also what sounds like a manic chittering in a mash of Gaint and Common edging the first two on. It roars into laughter everytime there's a scream of pain. Underneath all of that is a munching and crunching that sounds like Coins feeding on a small deer.
I'd say the terrain is primarily stone, but this is far enough north and probaly high enough elevation that I'd allow snow, too.
Turk* |
Hearing some of the noises coming out of the building is enough for Turk. There is suffering in there. Lets move. He will cast Haste on the group before pulling his adamantine greatsword and moving forward a single hasted move.
Gro Khal |
Gro-Khal surges forward with Turk, calling for Coins to come hunt bigger game with him.
Shyvara Emberfury |
"I too, shall answer the call. For Sarenrae!"
Cast Blur as prep, and head in with Turk and Gro Khal!
GM Sedoriku |
Map updated! Feel free to place yourselves on it where you want to be!
As you burst into the building, you interrupt a group of giant ugly green men. On the large banquet table in front of you is a half mangled goat carcass. At the other end of the table sit two of the creatures. In front of them sit a pair of dice sitting in a pool of blood. You catch them in the act of moving a knife between their fingers at high speed. The sudden noise causes one of them with a bright blue scrap of a scarf on to slip and chop off a finger. He gives a scream of pain.
High in the rafters you hear a cackling of pure glee from the giant's pain, but before you can look and see what caused it, the blue-scarfed on stands up and angrily glares at you. "ያጣኸኝ ነገሮች እሳጭተኸኛል! እገድልሀለሁ!"
Before he can move closer, an especially ugly looking one in the back finishes the last piece of meat off a bone and throws it at . "እሺ! ያጡ ቢሆንም."
With a dissatisfied look Ao looks back at the other humanoid and grumpily sits back down as the other one, clearly in charge, stands up. He calls out to the group of Pathfinders in a booming voice, "እዚያ ያዝ! 'እርከን ላይ ጣልቃ እየገባህ ነው! ከየትኛውም ኃያር እና ኃያሉ ሻራስ ጋር የንግድ ስራ አለዎት?"
As he watches your faces and realizes most of you didn't get a word he said he repeats it in a much more broken common. "I sayed STOP! You intrude Underchief Shrakas area! What do you with the MIGHTY and POWERFUL SHRAKAS?"
As he states his challenge, what looks like an elk with wings swoops out down from the rafters, its cackle ending as it picks up a few wevered fingers and lands on the back of the chair. It gnaws on them for a second and then swallows them. In broken Giant and common it eggs on Skrakas. "ተጭኗል! ጥቃት መደረግ አለበት. Com'on! They look ጣፋጭ"
Shrakas waves the beast down, waiting for your reply first.

Sooooo, will you be allowing it soon? Here? Now? If so how much? Inquiring tactical minds want to know. Regardless, Shonne wears her magical boots.
Turk will also use his racial Alter Self to gain some strength for his fight. I often forget about that.
And he now looks like a {name of a humanoid race}. Do we get to pick like in Mad Libs? Bugbear for the warm coat! Note: Turk can't look like himself as per the rules listed in the polymorph spell school description.
For her part, Shonne appears to be a near photo-negative of a normal elf. She's shorter, black-skinned, with white hair.

GM Sedoriku |
Gro-khal catches sight of the longsword but doesn't recognize what it means.
Shyvara recognizes the three large green beasts as trolls! Did you want any more information on them?
Edwin moves into the room but stays silent and instead trying to see what is here. Sadly some smoke form the fire gets in his eyes and he doesn't see much due to the welling tears.
Shonne also recognizes the beasts, as well as the peryton! For the knowledge checks, you can also ask for specifics, such as AC or hitpoints totals, if you'd like.
The peryton has the Horrific Critical and Shadow Mark special attacks
Shadow Mark (Su): As a free action, the peryton can make a ranged touch attack by flying over a humanoid target— the maximum range of this attack is 300 feet. If she hits, her shadow transforms to match the shadow of the creature struck. Once she has established this link, she gains a +2 morale bonus on attack and damage rolls against that target, and every time she hits that target with an attack, the creature must make a DC 15 Will save or become frightened for 1 round. This is a mind-affecting fear effect.
Turk realizes that Shrakas would likely have little resitance to most things but does remember one of the locals in Averaka talking about how Shrakas has a skill with intimidating people, a NASTY bite, won't stop healing if he's pissed enough and seems particularly fond of his claws. No resistances, but he has the Intimidating Prowess, Mighty Bite, Raging Regeneration, and Weapon Focus (claw) feats.
He also recognizes the longsword sticking in the table has the mark of a famous blacksmith in Averaka.
Sooooo, will you be allowing it soon? Here? Now? If so how much? Inquiring tactical minds want to know. Regardless, Shonne wears her magical boots.
For some reason I thought you had been asking about the terrain in relations to the Ranger's favored terrain (though I admittedly used the wrong terms there) and not the actual terrain/ground conditions. Blah, sorry!
The ground has snow piles in places but not enough to impede or hamper movement in anyways.Seeing as Turk has claimed he will translate freely, I think everyone can read the spoilers. If people prefer, I can just post them as normal.
Turk* |
Yes, Turk happily translates all Giant for the group.
The blade you play with there, where did you get it? It is of Averaka. I'd have it back along with the half orc that carried it.
GM Sedoriku |
Shrakas stands up, clearly not happy you avoided his question. "That not... half-orc. It owner is gone. More important is why ARE YOU HERE? If you no reason, then help Shrakas! I send ogres to take care of silly ettin, but they no return. Go find them and tell me what happened!"

If she has a moment she pulls a scroll of haste (Summoner CL 3, 3 targets, Duration 3 rds) from her haversack, and readies her spear.
Shyvara Emberfury |
I mean, Sarenrae would try to forgive them, but she also forgives if we cut them to ribbons. If we do want to do negotiations further on, (given this party, I don't see why we would though) Glibness is a spell that I have. Just putting that out there ;D
GM Sedoriku |
All of your buffs from earlier are still active including the Haste, and Good Hope from Turk (Only 2 rounds worth of time has passed. No need to ready a scroll. Also given how everyone was rushing into a fight, You'd probably have weapons and things drawn already, so no need to account for them now.
Shrakas is taken aback by the pure unbridled fury in Turk's voice and sputters a few wordds in giant "But he's dead... Body gone" Shaken, he loses control of the situation and the peryton next to him call out to the other two trolls in Giant. "That it! Attack!"
