Nalshene |
Perception 20: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (17) + 25 = 42
"I see some writing on that wall similar to the language we saw before, though I cannot translate it at the moment. Agata?" Nalshene points to the writing.
Agata |
Agata also cannot fail the Perception check. Assuming that Comprehend Languages is still active - it should be - 10 minutes duration - but I don't want to presume - she translates the graffiti for everyone.
"Aye, and that were me only scroll o' comprehend languages," Agata growls, "L'il Sweet Mawd now, she speaks all the languages, and I reckon if we find whoever wrote that there graffiti she should be able to unnerstand 'em just fine, but I keep forgettin' to learn her her letters. Desna knows things would be a mite easier for poor ole Agata if Sweet Mawd could handle her correspondence..." Agata trails off, as if contemplating a world in which all her paperwork burdens would be handled by her poor maidservant... Sweet Mawd has Truespeech, which is like Tongues but applies only to speaking, not reading and writing.
Urko Gallonica |
Urko has a new wand of comprehend languages so we have that part covered.
Agata |
Also, assuming that at least 10 minutes have passed since we entered the Mount, both Agata and Sweet Mawd will use charges from a wand of Heightened Awareness (both auto-succeed the DC).
Miranda Renard |
(also can't fail the Per)
"...music?" Miranda says with a little amusement. "A ballroom, perhaps? This Metsweka is possibly some manner of secret police... or a rebel, against Unity's tyrannic rule! You know, covert messages to the other heroic cells of resistance and so forth. Very Andoran."
Miranda lives for the courtly intrigues of Oppara, so, she has an active imagination.
She gestures at the corridor, and the suggestion of a large hall which acoustics alone seems to imply. "Shall we?"
Happy to stride forward-- Miranda says it's a PARTY!-- but don't want to jump anyone's gun if anyone has a last minute buff. For that matter, I'll tap myself with my wand of shield before striding (can't fail check, takes me to AC 46). Assuming no one objects:
Miranda gives a cursory look over the floor to make sure some construct isn't going to eat her foot, then intends to stride confidently forward to find the source of the music.
Per for traps: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (4) + 22 = 26
Not actually moving token forward since you just said in the dashed area, etc, so that's where Miranda is but she'll move out if/when nothing else happens
GM Upaynao |
You can start moving outward as you desire! Please, feel free to take advantage of the map to place yourselves wherever you wish. Just as an FYI, I abhor doing anything that might take away player agency. So be sure to be clear in your actions, move yourselves as warranted and so forth.
As Miranda steps forth into the larger chamber, tranquil conversations pause before continuing in more hushed tones. Androids, all dressed in exotic garb, come and go all around. Frequently one or two will approach what appear to be storefronts to peruse the wares. All of them seem to be awkwardly trying to avoid meeting your gaze, in a manner not unlike being that debutante in an Opparan ball, the one all the men know.
Of note, despite being deep within the bowels of the ship, the ceiling seems to be open to the outside, with Somal, Golarion's moon, shining brightly in the night sky. The lights within are slightly dimmer than elsewhere in the complex, mimicking a romantic merchant street in any city bordering the Inner Sea.
Needless to say, you don't spot the traps.
Hugo Victor |
Hugo nods to Miranda and gives himself an inspiring word (+2) to Abadar.
Indeed, Lady Renard. However, this throng appears to be less - or more - than meets the eye. In fact, why are they here at all? I suspect we will be greeted soon enough. By whom is the question.
He will move after the others, letting the more stout lead the way until reactions of the androidians are observed.
Also, for what it is worth, he has spider climbing slippers active even when on level/normal ground if possible.
Agata |
@GM: how high are the ceilings? And is the second map the "upstairs" of the first map? (Unless otherwise noted, Agata is always flying - for rp reasons I like to think of her sitting on a broom).
Can I make a Knowledge (engineering?) check re the androids? If so,
K:Engineering: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (2) + 19 = 21
Sweet Mawd's K:Engineering: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
"Ooh, a Party!?! Well maybe this Yookneetee isn't such a bad fellow after all! Let's see what's what... I do hope they have crumpets, it's been ages since I've had a good crumpet..."
Agata and Sweet Mawd, both flying 15' in the air, advance into the room.
"Sweet Mawd, what are those androids saying?"
Sweet Mawd's Perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (2) + 24 = 26
Marduk Beastblood |
Marduk grunts in surprise when he steps out into the courtyard. "There are people living in here? Servants of Unity no doubt."
Marduk is on the lookout for any obvious soldiers or guards.
Urko Gallonica |
Urko directs Artemis forward and the two of them glide through the air, Mawd, can you translate for us?
He scans the room with his magically augmented senses.
Deathwatch picks up whether creatures are alive, dead, undead or none of them (such as constructs). Not sure how that relates to Andriods.
Assuming Mawd translates
Greetings, we come in piece and seek an audience with your leaders.
Diplomacy if relevant: 1d20 + 37 ⇒ (9) + 37 = 46
GM Upaynao |
Just as a note: Using someone else to relay your words means that something is lost in translation. It's a hefty penalty, but with the modifiers you are rocking, I might as well try and deflect hurricanes with an under-powered leaf-blower.
@Agata: Not really. You might be familiar with androids, insomuch that one was the guest of the grand lodge following an exercise in the red redoubt that went tits up. If anything, as a race, they would fall under knowledge (local). Big thing about them is that they seem to not be slave to emotions.
If there is a ceiling, to determine how high up it is you'd have to try and literally "reach the sky"
@Everyone, I just realized that the scale on this map is COMPLETELY off. Expect a change in maps very soon.
Most androids nod politely, but seem to be ill-at-ease with outsiders such as yourselves. One of them takes the initiative, replying to Sweet Maud in Androffan: "Deacon Hope will soon be with you. Someone is bound to have gone to fetch him."
Sweet Mawd |
Sweet Mawd scans the room, attempting to determine whatever the source might be.
Having translated Urko, in her most gracious Androffan she adds: "Very good, please inform him that my mistress, Agata of Underbridge, has come calling, together with her most gracious companions."
Diplomacy to Aid Urko: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31
Agata |
Mainly I'm curious whether androids are susceptible to mind-affecting effects and whether - in character - Agata knows that.
K(Local): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35
Agata |
Also, whether androids are living creatures? Constructs? Both? Or if this is something we don’t know?
Urko Gallonica |
Deathwatch should tell us which they are
Urko also spends a moment scanning the crowd looking for the source of corruption.
Hugo Victor |
Hugo moves up, wondering who the Deacon is.
It will be interesting to see if the summoned Deacon is also a mechanical person or flesh and blood.
Miranda Renard |
Miranda lets the others talk, and by others that seems to mean the tiny maid thing that sits on the stinky crone's shoulder. Instead she stares up at the moon. Eventually in a little stage whisper she says, "So everyone else can see that right? Maybe it's just an illusion... Because we shouldn't be able to see the moon. Just saying."
GM Upaynao |
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
1d20 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
2d4 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4
The androids just nod and quickly move along, clearly unwilling to spend more time than necessary with the outsiders, no matter how tiny and inoffensive they may seem.
Agata reflects upon the creatures moving about. She recalls that Androids are extremely common in Numeria, as well as a few other things.
Urko and Maud's concentration pays off, and three rounds later they can spot the two sources of strong evil, two androids who seem to be otherwise minding their own business. Urko believes that the one he has spotted is trying his best to not look like he is a little more interested in the newcomers than he really appears to be.
Turns out there are no fan-made maps to scale. So I just changed the size of everyone and added more people. There are probably more than the ones I've put on the map so far, but I cannot spend my time just looking for android pictures.
Urko Gallonica |
Urko looks over to Miranda, Yes, I think we all see the Moon, most likely a simple illusion although elegantly done he says as he rides Artemis further into the room.
It seems our arrival hasn't caused too much of a stir.... He tries to stop one of the Androids, Hello, we are visitors here, I wonder if you could help us...I understand someone called Deacon Hope may be your leader? We would like to speak to him...
He trails off, somewhat at a loss as to how to deal with this most unexpected situation.
Miranda Renard |
"Ah. Well. Just asking." Miranda takes a few more strides in, gazing overhead and then around. "....this may well outstrip Stavian's audience hall, in some respects." Miranda is not exactly cowed by this, but does seem at least a little subdued.
"Sooo..... do you all follow Unity then? -ah, they can't understand me, right..." Miranda keeps her blade in hand despite the apparently non-hostile.... strange, blank people. But she does have it lowered at her side at least, rather than actively waving it at anyone. "Unity? UUU nit eee?" she says to the nearest android-trying-to-be-anywhere-else. Apparently Miranda's learned the Taldan way of translation: just speak really LOUDLY and SLOWLY, and the natives will get what you mean. Right?
Agata |
Agata gazes up at the moon. "Aye, many a cold night I've spent under that there moon, wishing for the shelter of a nice little bridge. But it's a mite strange to see it here watchin' us when we're here on the inside o' a mountain of strange metal... Mayhap it ain't really real?"
Will save to disbelieve if'n it's allowed: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33 (additional +1 insight if it's something created by a spell or SLA)
"Sweet Mawd, let's stroll i.e. leisurely fly about and see if there's anything interesting to be seen around here. P'raps the shops here have got some snuff for sale? Or a bit o' chewin' tabacky, now that would be just fine... P'raps one of you bold, strong, fine ones would like to 'ccompany us?"
Agata and Sweet Mawd perhaps accompanied by any of their more robust companions? attempt to nonchalantly move to within 30' of one of the androids who seem to be strongly evil, while also looking around to see if anything in the room, or about the 2 individuals, seems particularly noteworthy.
Agata's Perception: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (20) + 28 = 48 (additional +2 trait bonus if the area is considered dim light)
Sweet Mawd's Perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (8) + 24 = 32
GM Upaynao |
@Agata: You can certainly make that save, if you decide to fly on up and interact with it. If there is a ceiling, it would be about sixty feet above the floor where your companions remain. If you want to be nonchalant about anything you do, you can try and give me a bluff check.
Urko's words are translated by the pixie from afar as she begins to follow her master. Agata I strongly prefer for you to move your character. Please, don't put that in my hands. The androids nod and mumble awkwardly by way of a reply"Deacon Hope will be along shortly to see you outsiders" before shuffling away, clearly unwilling to be with you.
Looking about, Agata does not seem to see anything of note. However, as she rises to a full fifteen feet above the ground, she reaches the second level, where other androids look at her with a mix of discomfort, curiosity and perhaps even worry.
Agata |
@GM: got it. I hadn't noticed the colored circles around the two NPCs, so I wasn't sure which ones had pinged the detect evil. Now I see them. And I've gone ahead and moved myself. I'll hold off on exploring the moon/ceiling for now and wait to see what happens when the Deacon arrives. Being new to PbP, I'm still figuring out the rhythm of the game in comparison to a face to face table - wasn't sure if you were waiting for us to do something...
Marduk Beastblood |
Did you see my question above? Marduk is looking for signs of soldiers or guards.
Marduk scoffs in annoyance at being told to wait.
Hugo Victor |
Hugo advances into the room, but stays close to the wall.
Remarkable amount of emotion for mechanical people. You can almost see the tension.
GM Upaynao |
Marduk gazes about, but does not see anyone in uniform, or bearing weapons of any kind. At least not from where he stands; thus far, it looks like a community of isolated androids who do not seem very fond of outsiders.
The android Agata floats about gives her a raised eyebrow, as her intent deceives no-one. It moves on away, looking over it's shoulder periodically to check if the weird elf woman is still following her as other androids look at her with concern, wondering perhaps if they are next in the strange schemes of this odorous outsider.
Finally, a few minutes later, a man steps up in front of the fountain and the luscious plants, a paternalistic smile upon his face. "Outsiders? Might I have a word? I am deacon Hope."
Urko Gallonica |
Urko eyes narrow as he focuses on the "Deacon". Yes, of course, we had been hoping to speak to someone. Do you represent Unity?
Urko focuses his detect evil on him
Agata |
Sweet Mawd also focuses her detect evil on the Deacon.
Is there a token on the map for the Deacon?
Agata studies the Deacon carefully, curious to know more about him.
Let me know if I can make any Knowledge checks. I'm also curious to know if he appears to be armed, wear armor, have a visible spell component pouch, etc.
Agata's Perception: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (5) + 28 = 33
Sweet Mawd's Perception: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (13) + 22 = 35
GM Upaynao |
I'm so sorry, I though I had linked his picture. Yes, he's on the map currently. For all intents and purposes, he appears to be human. If you really want to make a knowledge roll, local would be the most appropriate if that is the case.
The deacon does not appear armed, nor does he appear to be wearing any sort of armor, or have any sort of visible pouches upon him. "Well, I am a humble servant of Unity, she who will bring salvation to us all. So, I suppose I do represent her in a very crude manner. Who are you? And, if I may ask, must your companion float up so high? My flock are not used to seeing such displays of magic. Also, must we have this conversation this far apart?"
@Urko: Are you intent on just staying where you are, or are you going to move on up to talk with the deacon?
Urko Gallonica |
Local, Heroism, Heightened Awareness: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 25
Urko directs Artemis forward who flies across the metal floor of the chamber. As she does so Urko tries to give the group a knowing look.
Bluff to pass message, heroism: 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 14 + 2 = 19
We have heard some disturbing rumours about the intentions of Unity, and would discuss those with her representatives...
As for Agata, well, you must ask her yourself, she is a force unlike any I have met before.
I must admit to some curiosity, what is a human doing living here and the apparent leader of a community of...androids? Is that the right word?
Pre-emptive sense motive, heroism, +2 if he is a construct: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 21 + 2 = 37
Hugo Victor |
Hugo moves more to the east and watches the deacon.
SM,heroism, inspired: 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 14 + 2 + 2 = 20 vs Deacon
GM Upaynao |
"I'm afraid I find her rather odorous and altogether frightening" replies the deacon, whose actions VC Victor believes do not belie any sinister intent, at least not from sixty feet away.
"Troubling rumors? Well that is very disturbing. Unity is a force for community and order, and having slander drip into my flock's ears would surely be detrimental to their faith. Would you be amenable to meeting me within her shrine? I feel that it would be my privilege to lay to rest whatever concerns you might have. We can go there now, or perhaps later if you would like to take a walk about our small community to reflect upon what you might want to tell me."
"As for myself, well I don't know that there is much to tell. I awoke as much a part of Unity as any of her flock. My past as a sleeper is not worth mentioning. All I can say is that the androids here adopted me as part of their community from the moment I arrived, a newborn shepherd to guide them along the paths that our Lady Within reveals to us."
Marduk Beastblood |
Marduk scoffs dismissively once the deacon has said his piece. He's not sure what offends him more, the deacon's soft-spoken weakness or the fact that he's more intimidated by Agata than himself.
"We have no need to treat with your goddess", the huge orc finally growls. "But we will take whatever lore you can share with us about your goddess and how she came to rule the Silver Mountain."
GM Upaynao |
The deacon shrugs. "If such is your wish. But if so, would it be too much of a burden upon you outsiders to wait until next morning? It is late, and I do have obeseances that must be offered onto her" he replies.
Obviously he has been speaking Taldane for your benefit.
Looking upon the man, Urko ventures that the man is possibly ethnically Chelish with his somewhat angular features. But apparently human, and definitely not another android.
Agata |
"Of course I can come a bit lower if'n that'll please ya sonny, though poor Agata prefers not to walk on the ground. It's me bunions, dontcha know, they been mighty sore for at least a hundred years now. 'As yer Youneedy got some means o' bringin' a bit o' solace to me poor feet, now? All the best goddesses do, or so I'm told..."
Agata descends 5' to a distance of 10' above the ground.
Urko Gallonica |
Urko tries to puzzle out the mains intentions but also spots a possible opportunity.
Sense Motive, heroism: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 21 + 2 = 27
If we are to wait until the morning would you have any objection to us exploring this marvellous place and speaking to your people? Perhaps some of them would be interested to learn of the world outside. Have any ventured beyond the walls that you know of?
GM Upaynao |
"None have gone out to explore. People are content here as far as I know and they are afraid of the outside and outsiders. They see the ones who call themselves the Technic league come here, use devices, take notes and leave." He shakes his head. "Those ones are bad news. Appeasing them is the least we can do. Anyway. If ... Poor Agata? Would like to come along with me to the shrine, I would be more than happy to see what Unity can do for you. We can incorporate that as part of our prayers tonight. As for your request, by all means, you will not see me stop you from talking with my flock. I would only request that you do not try and come into the shrine. It is dissimulated and discrete, for the Lady has no need for lavish displays: we are all temples to her order. Whatever you choose, I will make arrangements for rooms to be set aside for you, as our guests."
Agata would you mind using the ooc brackets for any further over the table communication, be it within spoilers or not? Thanks! With regards to what you spoke of, Sweet Maud has perfect flight. Thus she would be affected, but wouldn't drop to the ground.
Agata |
Yep, thanks for the guidance and will do.
Sweet Mawd |
Sweet Mawd has been studying the Deacon intently and after a few moments lets out an audible shriek. She seems momentarily stunned and a lesser flyer than herself would surely have fallen to the ground. As it is, she manages to stay aloft but something has clearly shocked her. After a few moments she appears to recover, at least enough to stammer, "Oh my, oh my, oh my, may Desna watch over us..."
She hurriedly flits towards Agata, all the while avoiding looking towards the Deacon. Those nearby can hear her muttering something about union regulations. Climbing into her mistress' matted locks, she disappears from view, and it almost sounds as if a door has been slammed shut somewhere inside Agata's tresses.
Sweet Mawd has activated Merge with Familiar.
GM Upaynao |
Just to be clear, while that can be Sweet Maud's reaction, it is completely unclear to her whether or not said aura emanates from him.
Deacon Hope blinks, stunned by the fairy's reaction. "Erm... Or, if you don't want to, that is fine too. I'm sure there are some stores that will be open in the morning that will have shoes you can get relief from" he says to Agata hesitantly.
Agata |
Agata rolls her eyes upwards, as if to get a glimpse of what may be happening in her hair, and then shrugs, as if to say that good help is hard to find these days...
"Well, sonny, that is a mighty fine offer and don't you doubt that poor ole Agata knows a kind soul when she meets one, and I ain't lyin' when I say that I ain't met many, but I do have to wonder, d'you mean to say that yer goddess can only soothe me poor bunions in her shrine? Well now no disrespect intended but where's the all-powerfulness in that? Why, there's regular priests in every town o' Golarion that could heal 'em in just five minutes, if only I could find one who would let me take me shoes off for that long..." Agata, pauses and looks around. "And where is it anyhows, this shrine that we ain't s'posed to enter, 'cepting poor ole me and me bunions, it ain't easy not to enter a place what one ain't even seen!"
Sweet Mawd |
Ah, I may have misunderstood you then. I thought that she was stunned after she focussed her Detect Evil on the Deacon, no?
GM Upaynao |
Not quite. You focus your attention on the area you are Detecting Evil in. This allows you on round two to count the number of auras and their intensity and on round three to figure out where exactly they are. You were stunned on round two, so technically you aren't sure it is the deacon. But it is in the cone area you were detecting in. So it would be close to him. Urko does know that there is an aura coming from him, but beyond that you two are the only ones and I'd like to keep gradients of knowledge present to help remind everyone of how much they know or do not know.
"It's in that direction" he says with a smile, pointing towards the northern portion of the room. "And I am so sorry, but I did not prepare the right spells. After obeisance, I should be able to remedy what afflicts you." He shrugs as he looks at the others. "Do you have any further questions? And I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch your names travelers."
1d20 + 37 ⇒ (12) + 37 = 49
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (16) + 18 = 34
Nalshene |
"Seems reasonable enough to me, I will speak to some of your android friends, then. It does seem they are enjoying themselves. We look forward to learning more about this Unity you speak so highly of."
Wow, not sure how I haven't posted since Tuesday, sorry about that. Normally I'll be much more available.
Nalshene will mingle with the androids and try to learn as much as she can from them about Unity and the Deacon.
Diplomacy (gather information): 1d20 + 41 ⇒ (12) + 41 = 53
Agata |
Interesting. Just realized that I don't have See Invisibility in my stat line. I cast it earlier but didn't note it there. Just fyi.
GM Upaynao |
Noted! But there is nothing invisible around here. Nalshene, normally I'm all for interaction but could you explain how you plan on talking with the androids? None of them speak Taldane.
Nalshene |
Nalshene will pull out a scroll of Tongues and cast it using her Mnemonic Vestment.
When she prepares spells the next morning, she will use Tongues as her spell for Versatile Spontaneity as well.
Miranda Renard |
Miranda lets the others do the initial talking to the Deacon, hand resting on the pommel of her rapier, sauntering closer as Urko converses. She has no supernatural abilities to detect much of anything, merely her own sense of things, her experience-- but then, her fellow Pathfinders are experienced as well.
"I'm called the Golden Rose of Elbistan," Miranda says, still stung earlier at the dismissal of her alias of 'Adniram.' Some people.
"But you can call me Rose, good sir. A pleasure to meet someone so civilized here-- I fear we've upset your... 'flock.'
"Might you tell me more of your goddess? Clearly she doesn't minister only to the... mechanical, but to those of fleshly form as well. What are her ideals, her codes of conduct for her worshipers? I've flirted with the Lucky Drunk for ages as a place to lay my worship, but I'm more of a wine girl than an ale girl, really...
"I'm open to a new gospel, shall we say, if you'll indulge the questions of a fool... Unity has no prohibitions on wine, I trust? But what else of her faith-- you say you each are a temple? How does that work? The rumors we heard say she is an altogether new sort of goddess... I suppose needing no shrine is new enough, but what else does she turn on its head? Have you a symbol of your faith, a time of day that we should return to you tomorrow when you've performed your obeisances and had a chance to rest?"
A bluff, heroism, to present herself as potentially actually interested in Unity as a convert: 1d20 + 19 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 19 + 2 = 34
A bluff to pass a secret message to the party, I can't fail the DC 20 for complex message (i.e., no sense motive needed from PCs, but Deacon might be able to sense motive this): 1d20 + 19 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 19 + 2 = 37
Urko Gallonica |
Just a note on information, Urko did make the pass secret message check earlier to warn the group that the Deacon is evil although I am not sure it can quite communicate the scale.
My apologies, the newness of this place made me quite forget my manners. My name is Urko, and this is my companion Artemis. Together we travel the length and breadth of Golarion and even to worlds beyond. I would be most interested to learn more of Unity, perhaps I could visit this Sanctum of which you speak?
