Sorry meant to write Vendel and Tink (from Improved Trip/Greater Trip), my bad.
Vendel Naughton |
Vendel slices at the prone Red Babau.
AoO (silver, flank): 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 17 + 2 = 30
Damage: 1d4 + 16 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 16 + (1, 6) = 27
GM Hmm |
Vendel takes advantage of the attack of opportunity provided by Tink, and slices at the Red Babau. Once again, only some of the damage goes through.
Vendel Reflex save to avoid corrosive slime: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
He manages to avoid damaging his spiffy mithril fan, though!
Red's Defensive Casting: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
Red attempts a spell, and it fizzles in its hands. Blue steps back five feet, casts the same spell, and shows up behind Masafusa!
ORDER: Masafusa, Grigorii, Vendel, Tink Tink, Green (dead), Blue (claw-claw-bite), Red (Shadowmind, cast, -55, prone), Dahruun (dead), Pai, Magnus
The whole party is up!
Pai Kromnite PFS |
Apologies all, got a bit of a bug today that laid me low after lunch. Feeling a bit better now.
Pai delays, waiting to see if the others could finish the remaining demons without her having to expend more magic.
Tink Tink Tunk |
Tink will wait for Vendel hoping he can finish off the demon, in which case he'll move over to flank the demon by Masafusa. He will provoke from the Blue Demon for movement Then try and trip that demon as well.
Trip: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (14) + 28 = 42
Reflex?: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (18) + 23 = 41
Which should probably give AoOs to Tink and Masafusa
Attack: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24DMG: 4d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 6, 4, 1) + 10 = 27
Reflex?: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (6) + 23 = 29
If the AoO hits he'll use debilitating injury to lower AC
If Vendel doesn't take down the babau between them (Red) then Tink will attack that one.
Magnus Landros |
Taking full advantage of the haste, and promising the injured centaur that he will be back, Magnus moves around to flank the red babau. He calls forth, once more, the power and blessing of Abadar, as he smites the fell demon.
token not moved
smite, flank, haste, PA. : 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (5) + 22 = 27 Smite!: 2d4 + 31 + 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 31 + (1, 1) = 38
GM Hmm |
Pai delays. Tink Tink delays until Magnus comes forth and smites the Red Babau demon, killing it outright.
Then Tink Tink attacks Blue, tripping the demon but missing the attack.
ORDER: Masafusa, Grigorii, Vendel, Tink Tink (trip), Green (dead), Blue (teleport), Red (dead), Dahruun (dead), Pai (delay), Magnus (smite)
Masafusa, Grigorii, Vendel and Pai are still up.
Vendel Naughton |
Vendel, flames coursing across his face in a hungry rage, races over to flank with Tink and slices the blue Babau in the kidneys!
Heartseeker #1a (cold iron, flank,haste): 1d20 + 17 + 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 17 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 24
Damage #1a: 1d4 + 16 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 16 + 1 + (1, 4) = 23
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
"Thanks Pai, just I'm afraid of dat slime an my mithral fan is stronger, know what I mean!"
AC is now 26, HP are now 111 with 70 damage
Masafusa Zhou |
Masa shakes his, stares at the Babau (-3 Damage, -3 Will Save) then darts away (provoking if it has AOO left from Tink's movement) triggering his Mesmeric Mirror (2 images).
He darts his way over to Magnus, headbutting him as he comes to a stop at his feet.
"You deal with it!" he shouts.
Cast Jester's Jaunt, teleporting Magnus 30ft into my former position, if he'll take it.
GM Hmm |
So last night I must have been tired because I forgot reflex saves and AoOs! No cookies for the GM AGAIN.
Blue AoO on Tink: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Blue wildly misses Tink!
Magnus Reflex Save: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Magnus avoided slime on the last smite!
Then Vendel comes in for the flank, doing another 23 damage on Blue!
Blue has combat reflexes, and gladly takes an AoO on Masa!
Blue AoO on Masa: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
1 is real Masa: 1d3 ⇒ 2
It hits an image and pops it!
Then Masa teleports Magnus to the base of the shattered statue offering higher ground!
ORDER: Masafusa (Jester's Jaunt, 2i), Grigorii, Vendel (slice], Tink Tink (trip), Green (dead), Blue (teleport, -23), Red (dead), Dahruun (dead), Pai (delay), Magnus (smite)
Grigorii and Pai are up.

Magnus then turns to the demon. "You, I do not give a choice to. You are evil, destructive, and will destroy everything Taldor has worked for if allowed to reign free. Try and destroy me, demon, for I shall weigh your sins on the scales of the First Vault."

He slices at the demon, rage in his eyes, and continues his song!
GM Hmm |
Grigorii does a mighty leap and hacks at the demon once, provoking Blue's last attack of opportunity!
Blue AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Then it is Blue's turn all over again.
Blue has no choice. He attempts to cast defensively.
Concentration Check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14.
Sucks to be him.
The spell fizzles in his hands. "ကမကောင်းဘူး။!"
He turns to face you, slimy head held high. In your mind, his scratchy voice echoes in your heads. I regret nothing, WORMS. Do your worst. Eventually you will all fall to the glory of Baphomet!

Magnus Landros |
Magnus looks to see Vendel going all ape-shit on the babau, shrugs, and walks over to see the centaur. Letting go of his weapon with one hand, he calls upon the power of Abadar, infusing his hand with healing power. He then touches the centaur, driving the power into him.

And, wow... the dice hate me I guess.
GM Hmm |
Vendel slays the babau, and Magnus heals the unconscious centaur, who requires no mercies. He's merely battered and bruised. As he wakes up, his eyelids flutter, then he startles for a moment, panicked as if readying to fight or flee. Magnus's gentle healing touch relaxes him. "Who are you? There were demons and a minotaurs and--"
He breaks off, wide-eyed, as he notices all the carnage all around him. "Oh!" He inclines his head. "I am Talias. It appears that I owe you warriors a debt. I tried to fight them off, even knocked over that statue, but there were too many of them."

If no one inquires about the neat ring she described, Pai slips it on her finger. Someone might as well get the benefit of the magic, she thinks to herself.
"You know, if Grigori can play more of the speed up song we used on the way here, we
Might even get a good night's rest back at the camp. Two more days to do two more tasks!"
GM Hmm |
Pai brings up an excellent point. You've found some EXCELLENT treasure here. Who's using it?
___
You carefully retrace your steps and make it back to the mountain. Using Grigorii's marching song, you manage to escort the grateful Centaurs back to Cangarit Camp before dark. With the death of Dahruun, and the return of her four kidnapped warriors, Nashota is impressed, and many of her tribe overjoyed to see their lost brethren returned.
"Come, you must eat with us tonight, and share the tales of your victories." The dinner is simple fare -- wild rabbit, onions, herbs and assorted root vegetables. Still, the company is good, with the camp in a much better mood than the last time you'd seen them. Then she pauses, genuinely curious. "Which of my enemies will you strike at tomorrow?"
___
Are you headed for Urso Landel the thief, or Jerevyx the Harpy?
Vendel Naughton |
"Hey, could someone help me out with some healing? I got minotaur axe holes in my chest here, know what I mean?"
Tink Tink Tunk |
I can't do much in the way of healing. I can use a wand for you though Vendel I'd bet against it being the most efficient way though since we're sleeping before heading back out
Tink looks at the ring, it's shiny which is nice but I've no real interest in it's magic.
Otherwise Tink is happy to take advantage of the Centaurs hospitality, though he'll avoid the meat as it appears a bit fresh for his liking.
I'm cool with either option
Pai Kromnite PFS |
"How about we go after the harpy? Don't suppose you have any extra ear plugs lying around, do you?"

Tink Tink Tunk |

Magnus looks to Vendel, and says, "I can heal you, friend. Abadar provides, but perhaps a proper donation next time you are by one of his temples would be proper as well." He channels to get everyone, including the centaurs.
Channel: 6d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 5, 3, 1) = 22
He will gen recharge himself, and then all seven of his meditation crystals, banking them for future healing. Unless someone is dramatically still hurt after the channel.
GM Hmm |
“So, you want to go after Jerevyx, do you?” Nashota sucks the meat off a rabbit bone, and then licks her fingers. “Here’s what I know about that harpy freak. She's a sorcerer, definitely dragon-blooded from what I've seen. Claims to be descended from the old wyrm, Maejerex, but whether or not that's true I can't say. I should warn you, she keeps a pair of frost drakes as ‘pets'. I'd been looking forward to hunting them down—I've always wanted a piece of dragonhide armor.”
She sighs, regretfully. “To the hunters, the spoils. I’ll leave the dragonhide to you, since you’ll have earned it.” She gets up, paces to her tent, and comes back with the map. “You’re already familiar with Hollowfrost Pass. After the pass, the path forks. One fork goes towards the mines, the other towards the icy cliffs. There’s a system of caves up there, but getting to them is tricky. The harpy and her pets have wings. Those that don’t fly will have to climb.”

I'm back!
Masafusa Zhou |
Masa will trot happily back and curl up next to a fire for the night.
"I'm fine whichever direction we go... wake me in the morning."
GM Hmm |
You all can settle down for a nice sleep in the tent that the centaurs have set aside for you. In gratitude for the rescue of the warriors, many of the Cangarit have come to you bringing extra furs and other comforts. Other than a residual smell of damp auroch fur, the tent is warm and dry. The centaurs offer to take all the watches so that you can have a full night's rest.

Once again Magnus is baffled by the bluster of the ifrit, but is interrupted from his channeling into the meditation crystals by his comments of being hurt. You wake to the smell of warm oatmeal, tea and honey. The camp is friendlier than it was the previous day, and the centaurs hand you breakfast with a smile. It’s a cold clear morning, and it’s time to head out to the harpies! Grigorii, do you hustle the group with your marching song?
Magnus Landros |
"Friend Centaurs, it warms my heart to see that you are in a better mood today. I can only assume it is due to the reuniting of your brethren to your village." "Flight potions?! If we had flight potions, we'd have taken out those harpies ourselves!" Nashota shakes her head. "Sorry, Sir Magnus, you'll have to find another way up."
Grigorii starts singing his marching song. The tune is so lively that some of the centaurs sing along as you hustle out of the camp. You can hear echoes of "But I would march 500 miles, and I would march 500 more!", for a long time as you wind down the mountain paths. The tune keeps you going as you march along, passing once again through the bitter cold of the Hollowfrost pass.
Vendel keeps gamely up with the group for the first hour of hustling*, but starts to flag and feel fatigued as the pace goes on and on for the next three hours. You pass once again the twin ruined towers of the Aroden monastery, but this time they lie quiet, with no ambushes. You make it to the fork in the trail, and start heading towards the icy cliffs.
The trail reaches the steep, slippery banks of a swiftly flowing mountain stream. The water is fast and only just above freezing. Someone has dumped several large rocks in the stream to act as stepping stones. With rope and teamwork, you help the less dexterous party members slowly cross it, and then look up to the cliffs above.

Grigorii, Vendel, Magnus and Tink Tink all see it... hidden way high up on the cliffs is a well camouflaged entrance to an eyrie that looks large enough to house harpies and drakes. As you search the cliff for footholds, you do see that the slippery cliff is climbable, but tough. Some of the handholds are only bidoigts, with barely any room to grip the freezing surfaces.

"So, guys, if we are going to do this, perhaps we should cast some of our buffing spells? Good hope or heroism might be good, to make it harder for us to be compelled by the harpy's songs. Also, perhaps Grigorii could use his... lovely... songs to counter those of the harpies when they start singing. I have heard that many bards can do that."

Vendel doesn't wake up that morning until someone shakes him, because Grigori was a bit early on deafening him. But that's ok, Vendel was up and marching behind his teammates as they left the centaur camp.
Grumbling the entire way, because he literally couldn't hear anything anyone was saying, "He coulda waited until we got to the lair, but noooo, he had to cast it before I'd even woken up this morning! Now I can't hear the marching song and I'm getting tired, and this sucks. At least he's using his wand, but I hate feeling tired. Its like I didn't sleep at all..." Vendel looks up at the cliff, and begins to test the climb to see just how difficult it might be.

Vendel looks back at his team and says, he hopes quietly, "So I think I can climb this, I also have a potion of fly if anyone needs it. I think we should get as many people flying as we can or perhaps we could buff up first before we go up. That might be a good idea. What do you guys think?"
He looks at his team expectantly, not realizing that they'd all just said everything he did.
