Welcome guys!
I'll let the others check in or until Friday before we move the game on in earnest, but we can do the Q&A part and any supplies while we are waiting.
Typically, I will post updates 2-3 times per day depending on what's happening. Can't always, but should be able to get 1 per day unless I give advance notice.
DM DoctorEvil |
Glad you could join us Kru. Wasn't sure how to message you, so happy you saw the thread was up. Waiting on Ellie Doubledown to tag in. Sent her owner a PM so we'll see if that gets done.
I am traveling for work this week through Friday, and may not be able to post much from the road depending on schedule. i will try to keep us updated, but not start in earnest until Ellie makes her appearance -- just like her to keep us waiting...
Either way, look forward to getting things started.
Ellie Doubledown |
Yeah, that Ellie- -what a jerk.
Player: Jeff H.
Character: Ellie Doubledown
Faction: The Exchange

Quick question on reactive abilities- -one of my spells known is timely inspiration.
Is there a way that you would like me to handle it? (It's also just a +1 bonus, so if it's a hassle on PbP I can also just ignore it altogether and save my spell slots for other things). Can I just say beforehand "If something looks like a near-miss I'd like to use timely inspiration?" Is that cool?
Lomar Kenomic |
Think I should be come Lormar's official dice roller as he hit nat 20's on both perception and initiative this round.
Yah, I saw that. You need to roll for me at CON's!!!!
"Carp" the Fisherman |
This is a lot of fun and a bit different than in person playing. For example, I only had to scroll up to remember that the Duskwardens were escorting us, instead of pestering the GM to remind me!
Plus, I think there is a bit more RP to the action, even in combat, which is great! I think I might embellish a bit more unless that is frowned upon. (Is it?)
DM DoctorEvil |
RP in combat (or anytime) is certainly not frowned upon. It is, in fact, encouraged. Like LOmar says, this format provides opportunity for a more well-thought and well-described actions that table-top. Please take full advantage!
Sorry for missing yesterday. I was worn out from traveling and crashed early. Back to normal posting this week.
DM DoctorEvil |
Not sure I said this here already but typically in combat situations, I will apply a 24-hr rule on actions. If the player hasn't posted an action within that time-frame, I will bot the character with the next logical action I would take if it were mine.
This time limit is not meant to be punitive but rather to keep combat moving, as it can really drag out a game otherwise. I apply the time stamp from the notice I gave of who's turn it is as the guide. Will try to warn, but won't always, so be timely as much as possible, especially during rounds.
The 24 hour rule may also apply to certain out of combat skill checks etc, but usually can work around those easier.
If you know you'll be away, letting us know so we don't have to wait 24 hours is the courteous thing to do. In either event, if you want to create DM-PC instructions for me to follow, please send them to me and I'll apply as best I can given the situation.

You are about to enter Act 3, which is a gathering information/role-playing act. We can do this one of two ways:
1) We can go through traditional role-playing as you seek out information PRO - it's fun and I like it CON- via PBP it can take a while to get simple conversations completed and time is an issue in Gameday's.
2) We can just skip to the die rolls PRO- it fast and you get hte info you need to move forward. CON - it lacks a certain verisimilitude and reduces the game to roll playing instead of role playing.
I can run it either way or a slightly modified version of both where we introduce concept and flavor but cut to the chase quickly. There are 6 acts in the scenario and your are just ending the second act.
Anyone have a distinct preference for one vs another?
Hullric Torsol |
Normally I would prefer the first option but it is a Gameday game. So I would lean toward a modified version of both.
"Carp" the Fisherman |
Agreed with the others. I'd prefer longer roleplay, but I understand that there are time constraints.
Lomar Kenomic |
On the stuff I'm running I go with a Statement then die roll followed by a response. Still gets some RP in, but advances in the DIE rolling quicker.....
"Carp" the Fisherman |
Sorry about the pronoun error. I think I have food poisoning from undercooked chicken, so my mind isn't 100%!
Sincere apologies.
Hullric Torsol |
lol... wasn't sure if it was intentional or by mistake.
But I hope you get better. I've been food poisoned before and know how uncomfortable it can get.

Will have a post up for you later in the day today. Meantime, are you all having sufficient fun that I should sign up for Part 2 of this series for the second session of Gameday VI?
Is everyone on board for continuing? I seem to remember Ellie saying she had played part 2 before but can't recall for sure.
Ellie Doubledown |
I've played part 2, but if everyone is okay with it, I could use a replay on it.
"Carp" the Fisherman |
I am definitely interested!
Ellie Doubledown |
...though maybe you would want to replace me with someone who can roll better dice...
DM DoctorEvil |
Working on Chronicle Sheets now. Since this scenario was part of Gameday VI, there is a chance for player boons. All players including GM should roll d20. If the result is 19-20, you win! If so, then roll a d4 to see which boon you have won. You may roll these yourself, but if anyone who has not rolled within 24 hours, I will roll for (including one for myself...).
I will report once all the boon rolls are made. Best of boon luck!
Will link the Chronicle Sheets as a scan on Google Docs once they are complete and uploaded. Let me know if you have any purchases or other expenditures to note. The items available for purchase for this scenario at Tier 1-2 are only Scroll of Invisibility and Scroll of Silence.
I will assume everyone is at normal progression unless told otherwise.
Ellie Doubledown |
Thanks for running, and thanks in advance for part 2!
Boon Chance: 1d20 ⇒ 13 "This would be easier with my own dice," Ellie would think to herself.
Normal progression, and I'll check to see if this levels me (I doubt it) before we pick back up.

Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 11
I will be buying a few masterwork items (armor and weapon), maybe spend my 2 fame on a wand or something, but I will have to wait until I get home to decide (and have the sheet to know how much to spend), but nothing major will change for Lomar.
DM DoctorEvil |
The subtier 1-2 gold for this adventure is 512gp. With Lomar's dayjob roll he gets 522gp credit for this scenario.
Everyone but Ellie is in that subtier and gets that reward. Since Ellie is between subtiers, her reward is 890gp + 20gp dayjob for a total of 910gp.
Just let me know if you want any of those purchases recorded on this chron sheet, or you can always do after the fact.
Everyone also gets 2 PP for completion of this scenario.
Hullric Torsol |
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 18; So close.
I'm going to spend the 2 PP I just earned for a Wand of Cure Light Wounds for the next part of the adventure.
