Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
I don't think you have much choice in that matter.
Do we know how to get him out yet? If so, let's grab him by both wrists while getting him out so he can't skulk away unseen, then tie him securely with a rope attached to Balfour for interrogation.
Balfour Granitehead |
Balfour thinks for a moment, stroking his magnificent beard.
"Hey, Lebraerio; you've disabled that pressure plate when we came in, right? Can you try to check if it opens this trap-floor?"
'Lizbeth' |
Lizbeth rolls off the trapdoor as it opens, but remains seated at the edge of the pit, looking down at the shivering Skulk she sighs at the sorry states of the creature, almost feeling sorry for them.
"So, we have opened the door, what were you doing here?" she asks sweetly.
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira |
Rilia looks to get them both some clothes. "Cloths make skulks less skulky. Their camouflage is tied to changing their skin coloration. I would give them some of mine, but I can't really spare any in such a rural environment. Modesty prevents."
'Lizbeth' |
Lizbeth thinks it over for a moment hmm, I wonder who the suppliers are, a crime of chance or planned? She smiles sweetly at the captured Skulk, the the smile is edged with malice.
"And when would that have been? How long have you been trapped here?"
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
You're in pretty deep trouble. Things will go worse for you if you don't tell us everything.
Intimidate, Aid Another: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Kara's slight frame and fancy clothes undermine her attempt to be tough.
Balfour Granitehead |
"So you killed one of the guards by accident; but did you murder the owner of this place?"
Balfour gives a short description of the victim and waits, looking at the skulk with his eyebrows raised intimidatingly.
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira |
intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Rilia attempts to loom, but her mind is obviously elsewhere.

Kara's slight frame and fancy clothes undermine her attempt to be tough.
That's so adorable.
'Lizbeth' |
Lizbeth ponders this for a moment and frowns at the Skulk's words, it seems oddly circumstantial that the two were sent here at the same time as the murder of the vault's owner.
"I wonder why the dead guard wasn't mentioned to us? Well we have one lead from here folks! I think it is best we take these nce ol' skulks to the sheriff, check the office we left upstairs and then the murder scene no?"
Balfour Granitehead |
Balfour scratches his little dwarf head.
"Actually..."
Thieves, presumably in league with the creature that killed Walder, burst into the Locked Box and killed the remaining guard.
"I think he was mentioned. But it does seem a bit too convenient that the murder occured just before this event. I think we have some skulks to question."
'Lizbeth' |
Yeah My Bad, I totally blanked on it ><
Veilblade |
The gray thing asks how much they were paid and how often they do this kind of thing. Do they like working for their suppliers? He comments that it seems like a dishonorable relationship.

Balfour Granitehead |
Balfour sheathes his greatsword and crosses his hands.
"I believe we are wasting our time with a lackey; he clearly doesn't know anything. We should discover where these Kymeth and Onamae are hiding and give them a good beating. Or interrogation. Whichever we feel like."
Balfour nods at Lebraerio and turns to leave, but his eyes rest upon the shelves to the east of the entrance. The dwarf recalls noticing a secret panel built into these shelves.
"But wait, what about this?"
Balfour tries to see whether he can open the panel, or if it requires any professional's (read: Lebraerio's) work.
'Lizbeth' |
Lizbeth shrugs and hops to her feet with a smooth movement, it would seem they had everything they needed from these two and more leads to follow, this was getting exciting!
"Balfour is right! We should hand these guys in the the good ol' sheriff and let her finish the conversations. We need to see if we can't find out more about the Shiver trade here and we have another crime scene! While the trail is still warm yeah?"
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Kara is aghast at the sheriff's response.
We found them literally in the vault attempting to steal valuables. Are you insinuating that we are trying to frame them?!
Sense Motive on the response: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira |
"Now sheriff. You of all people know that most people are killed by someone they know."
if she can she utters a shrt prayer for guidance in dealing with small-minded hicks who think a long trip means visiting the neighbors.

'Lizbeth' |
Lizbeth shakes her head, annoyed at the Sheriff's pushing and her small minded behaviour, unsuitable in a town authority but all to prevalent in all manner of 'civilization'.
"Given that we have been to one scene and found suspects and a lead, no we are on are way here. But doing this correctly means doing it thoroughly. Now, do you know anything of the shiver trade here?"
GM Skipper |
Sheriff Feldane looks mildly shocked at the mention of shiver.
"To the best of my knowledge, there is no drug trade at all in Ilsurian, for which I am thankful. It's one of the perks of being a smallish town off the beaten track."
@Lebraerio: You have basically solved the murder of the guard, since the skulks straight up confessed to it. The murder of Archivin, however...
Balfour Granitehead |
Balfour groans silently.
"Well, sheriff, the best of your knowledge does not equal the truth. These two skulks even gave us the name of their dealers. We will go investigate the murder scene, and possibly locate the others involved in the murder."
Veilblade |
The gray thing comments that the sheriff should keep her eyes a little more open regarding what happens in her town. Then he casually mentions that the skulks confessed to killing the guard.

Lebraerio Hantwell |
Lebraerio get close to Kara, and says something in her ear
Kara, I'm afraid we forgot to check about Archivin's murder. should we try to find some clues together, just the two of us, or would it be better to go back with all our companions?
There is some fire in his eyes, as he smells the sweet perfume of her warm flesh...
Rilia, Sacred Hetaira |
Sighing heavily, the sheriff gives in.
"Fine, I'll lock 'em up for now, pending the conclusion of your investigation. Have you examined Archivin's murder site yet?"
Rilia resist sighing and rolling her eyes so hard that she grows dizzy. "NO. But we'll take your professional opinion under advisement. Won't we?" She says meaningfully.

"Sounds fun. Can anyone join? I can bring the manacles, and the bridle." She says in a husky whisper.
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Kara blushes deep red.
Congratulations. This is not an easy thing to do. :-)
It seems we must do the Sheriff's job for him again. Let's get to it.
GM Skipper |
Leaving the sheriff's office, you are led to the scene of Archivin's murder. The small clearing is seemingly featureless, except for a patch of dirt covered in dried blood.
Lebraerio Hantwell |
As Kara blushes, Leabraerio wonders if it's because of his actions, or Rilia's words.. perhaps both. Naughty girl, Rilia. I mean this as a good thing.^^
Leb looks at the patch of dirt
I have many talents... but hunting is not one of them, unfortunatly. Let's hope someone in our group knows something about tracks. All I can say is that this is not a cow or a horse.

Being an elf trained in the subtle arts of a temple courtesan, Rilia does not immediately bludgeon Leb with a large brick while screaming "IDIOT! YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AN INVESTIGATOR!" Instead she does what any intelligent woman would do in the same situation. After looking it over for a moment, she stops and asks for aid from an expert.

She tries to find someone comparable to the guide on page 5 of this link, and pays arranges for Leb to pay them to make the roll.
Edit: Somewhere warm and sunny, a middle-aged philosopher in a white toga, and flashy shorts is smiling, and water-skiing, and not thinking at all about any of this. ;)
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Kara hikes up her skirt to keep it out of the mud and ooze, perhaps a little higher than necessary and with a sidelong glance at Lebaerio, and inspects the ground.
Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
She squeals in genuine excitement.
Oooh, look here, there's paw prints. And they're large. This doesn't look good for our friendly local sphinx.
Read the DC14 spoiler.
She peers closer.
But wait. These tracks are nowhere deep enough for such a large creature.
She circles around the tracks, moving aside some fallen brush to expose humanoid footprints nearby.
And look here -- someone (or someones) has been trying to cover their tracks.
She looks up, startled by her findings.
By the gods! Someone is trying to frame Jherizhana!
