'Lizbeth' |
Lizbeth holds her hand to her breast and takes on a lool of feigned shock at Archimeles' comment.
"Well I have never been so insulted, my dearest Archimeles!"
Not expecting anyone to fight for her honour, Lizbeth examines the magically appearing tunnel and decides to wander down it, her hand resting on her rapier as she does so.
"Well isn't this exciting! The culmination of our task to ferret out secrets! Let us press on friends"
Lebraerio Hantwell |
Let's be as discreet as possible. I shall scout. Give my arrow some magical light, and I'll go first
Lebraerio takes his bow, and nocks an arrow.

'Lizbeth' |
Lizbeth runs her palm across the stone, amazed at the feats magic could accomplish and wondering what would become of civilisation were it to simply cease, maybe that fear is what spurred the Numerians on.
"Cask of what? Did it taste any good?" She asks Archimeles as they make their way down the corridor.
Archimeles |
"It's a reference to a book a drinking companion of mine authored. He was a regular at the Academy, until...." The philosopher's voice trails off.
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
I believe I've read that book. Your friend has an...active imagination.
Moved everyone on the map into the passageway.
Kara whispers to the front of the line,
Lebraerio, what do you see?
'Lizbeth' |
Lizbeth frowns, with all the effort used to create the stone walls to hide something for plenty of years, why would the keep a campfire up ahead?
"Hmm, surely they wouldn't have used a fire to keep a hidden cavern lit that may contain knowledge, assumedly written down, safe?"
Archimeles |
knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
"No doubt it is a platonic flame. To have existed in a sealed room for however long it would have to be. Mr. Hantwell you did not see any tracks coming in did you?"
GM Skipper |
There's a conspicuous lack of dust, which will be explained forthwith.
As you move closer, the source of the flames becomes apparent. A snake made of fire locks eyes with Lebraerio and slithers closer.

With a gasp as they make their way forwards, Lizbeth draws her rapier before sweeping round the flank of her companions to engage the Fire snake, her rapier pointing at the creature threateningly though she is unable to capitalize on the maneuver and strike it.
"Well I never! A flaming snake eh? What is your advice for this critter Archimeles my dear?"
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |

It's a fire elemental. Beware, it can set you ablaze if it hits you or you touch it.

With the firey beast vanquished and its flames subsiding, Lizbeth sheathes her still warm Rapier and looks over Lebraerio with a tut, the scorched clothes and forming bruises quite evident. The Vishkanya smiles sweetly.
"Oh please allow me, this magic best be good for something eh?"
With a whispered chant, Lizbeth lays her hands on the Investigator to soothe his wounds.

Several desks are arranged along the northern and eastern edges of this small stone alcove. Whereas the stonework leading to this chamber is rough, the walls in the alcove are polished. A single gem rests among the neatly filed papers on the desk, emitting a soft luminescence that brightens the small room.
The papers all seem to be written in some form of cipher, but otherwise bear an air of importance over them.
Veilblade |
The wiry wrinkled thing suggests that the papers be taken to the Society for study.

'Lizbeth' |
Her healing finished, Lizbeth saunters over to the desk to see what has got Xin so excited glancing at the papers the Vishkanya shrugs and turns to Archimeles.
"Archimeles my dear, this would seem to be your department, though I am sure not even you are old enough for this cipher!" She titters at her own joke.

You leave the Shrine of the Failed and deliver Eylysia’s cache to the Grand Lodge. The crowd gathered around the Starstone Cathedral has disbanded, and many of the locals are still horrified following Sir Reinhart’s attempt to vault the chasm on horseback, which ended with a fall into oblivion.
Drandle Dreng personally thanks you for your successful investigation, indicating his interest in your future careers as Pathfinders.
Several days later, you receive a letter from Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin. Added to the handouts
As must of you probably know, this concludes The Wounded Wisp. Chronicle sheets can be found here.
GM Skipper |
After many weeks at sea, your journey from Absalom to Magnimar was cut short, as the port authorities in Korvosa seized the merchant ship you had booked passage on, due to a tariff dispute. Being intrepid agents of the Pathfinder Society, you didn't let this stop you, and decided to take the overland route the rest of the way. The journey up through the Korvosa-controlled territory was painfully uneventful, with the iron-fisted Chelish law ever present. Leaving Korvosa's sphere of influence, you trekked through the Ashwood, and arrived in the town of Ilsurian after days with no sign of civilization. The Two Waters Tavern provided a nice break from roughing it under the stars, and the next morning the town was abuzz with excitement; a carnival had come to town.
And off we go!
Go ahead and introduce your characters, both for the sake of our newest player, but also since at least one player has switched character.
Lebraerio Hantwell |
After an awful travel on sea-where the investigator showed a deep fear of the salty waves, and tried everyday new concoctions and alchemic recipes to fight the sickness in his weak stomach-Lebraerio was slowly regaining his composure when the group of Pathfinders hit the land.
Day after day, he became less gloomy, but wasn't very much more talkative.
Finally reaching Ilsurian, he was back to his usual bookish self, studying with a revenous hunger for knowledge every tome he could find, whatever the subject of the book was.
Lebraerio was now eating his breakfast, quietly, looking around for his fellows Pathfinders.
For those who have never seen him before, the man was quite mundane in his appeareance, wearing an old grey and confortable cloak over unremarkable black clothes.
Of average build, he had brown eyes and hair, and sported a beard. His face showed nothing much, and even by studying it, you feel it has nothing striking, it was the kind of face you could have seen anywhere, on anyone.
Know Local (what do I know about the town's events?): 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (16) + 7 + (4) = 27
Kara Saint-Germaine SF |
Kara arrives at breakfast looking "put-together", as always. She somehow makes a simple rough-and-ready adventuring outfit look elegant, and she walks with a grace borne of the best boarding schools available.
Joining the seasick investigator for breakfast, she takes an odd, but somewhat endearing, delight in the simple meat-pie in greasy gravy set before her.
You're looking decidedly less green, Lebraerio. I can't say I'm sorry to see that ship go myself. What do you know of our new companions? I do hope our new adventure will be as interesting as the last, don't you?
She digs in to her greasy breakfast, pauses a moment mid-bite as she realizes she may be tasting an entirely new kind of meat, then smiles and finishes the rest with gusto.
I suspect I may have just eaten Xerus Rutilus, otherwise known as the common ground squirrel. Very interesting. Are you going to finish that?
Whether her dining companion(s) are interested in the conversation does not seem to matter too much.
