Kyra - for this particular scenario there is not yet a list of 'play order.' It is something that I was worried about when writing it because some of the impact of the 'big reveal' can be lost on those without the background for it. Though, on it's own it does a fair job of setting up a recurring threat and sense of future dread which can stand on it's own.
I will try to piece together what I feel like a play list should be for this today or tomorrow.

Thanks Mark, sounds great and it is good that there is an effort to piece together scenarios in order to try bringing a deeper plot to the game, which is I think the biggest weakness of PFS play.

In a sense, I would suggest playing scenarios in order of seasons, following a certain faction. Like I decided to play a Taldor character, and so simply followed the tracks of all the missions I heard followed that specific faction, and it totally makes sense overall! I will continue doing so for Sovereign Court, filling out the level gaps with adventures that continue the overall plot of the season, but are not necessarily faction specific. (Now if only I could find the time to play Assult on the Wound! With all the boons I got from season 5, the Army of Exploration I am supposed to be able to control should be awesome!)

That was my plan with this character and season 6. Unfortunately, all the scenarios so far for Dark Archive have gotten really poor reviews...

Thats unfortunate. Cheliax was such a great 'Bad Guy' faction with pretty good scenarios dedicated to it. I'm just crossing my fingers for the return of the Shadow Lodge, as Ozymandias here wants to shake Torch's hand...
EDIT: *sigh* You'd think I am used to NPCs my character supports and is trying to help being jerks. You would think that and would be wrong...
Kyra Soulkeeper |
What do you mean by scenarios that 'follow a specific faction', 'scenarios for a faction' or the 'overall plot'? How do you get that info? I have never seen any tag like that in any scenario review.
Is there a list or so telling you what scenarios relate to each faction plot and which ones are out of any plot?
Malus Tenebrae |
Usually if you go to a scenario page, it will list what factions have missions with it, for example:
Content in “Slave Ships of Absalom” also contributes directly to the ongoing storylines of the Liberty’s Edge and Sovereign Court factions.
Kyra Soulkeeper |
Oh, first time ever I realize some line like that, might be the first mission I play with such a thing :)
Thanks a lot!

Wow that was a real good ride^^
Thanks a lot Mark! The insights won here will surely let me GM this scenario a lot better for others!

I´m also looking forward to any sequels!

Please write something high level for the Dark Archive!
Koemi Rainbowfizzle |
Please run something else from season 6 for us if you feel like^^
Might also be part of the PbP Gameday then and you get a nice sylph chronicle ;)
GM - Mark Garringer |
Thanks guys! I am really glad you enjoyed it. There were a lot of really great scenes in this game and I had a blast running it for you.
As for additional writing, that's up to John Compton to offer it, but positive reviews never hurt to help tip the scales :)
Hopefully I will get this reported and Chronicles scanned/email today or tomorrow.
I am actually running 2 more tables for Gameday 3 of this scenario Koemi so I'll get the Sylph boon :)
I'll probably be looking to run new stuff after I wrap up Gameday 3, so keep an eye out in the recruitment threads!
Kyra Soulkeeper |
I am curious. Was it feasible to board the ship the diplomatic way and get the required information?
GM - Mark Garringer |
Yes, yes it was :)
It is a matter of expectation. They are expecting a pilot and one or two escourts maybe. It was a good try to bluff them about Mahjub wanting to see the slaves beforehand, but since they have done business before with him it was highly suspicious to them. And then you went into the water! :)
It is also possible not to trigger all the encounters at once, but you guys did very well against them all at once!
Ozymandias the Lion Blade |
At this rate I'll have more Sylph boons than I know what to do with XD and it's not like I could trade them as they are filled out completely and sent online. Maybe I should just go to a con in person...
GM - Mark Garringer |
Chronicles have been sent via PM!
If you have any questions or problems with them let me know.
Also, if there are any questions I can answer about the game itself from behind the curtain I'd be happy to do so.
Oz - the connection between this and Hellknight's Feast is Lady Darchana :)
Malus Tenebrae |
Here's a question:
When you write these up, do you have any input on the chronicle sheets? I never understand why items even show up in like a level 4-5 tier that can be bought already by someone several levels below this.
GM - Mark Garringer |
Sort of. It's really a reflection of the gear or loot you guys encounter during the adventure. So if I put something cool on an NPC it should show up on the Chronicle, in theory. There is a whole wealth by level curve thing going on with the PA expectations though so unless it's something rare like higher CL items, or partly charged wands and stuff, yeah most of the gear on Chronicles won't do most average players any good.
Malus Tenebrae |
Can you explain this boon? How's it possible to get 0 pp? I'm confused...
Kyra Soulkeeper |
Party defeat for example. Or ending the scenario without completing neither the primary nor the secondary objectives.
Is there any chain ideas for those boons? I've read something they might be useful in future scenarios.
GM - Mark Garringer |
As Kyra mentioned, if your party fails at the primary mission (it happens apparently) or the secondary mission (also happens, more often than you'd think).
'Future use' gives the PFS Development team room to play with reporting results and bring back recurring themes. For example, impressing Lady Darchana in Hellknight's Feast could potentially help a Sovereign Court player in this scenario, making it easier to try and get Lady Darchana to join the Sovereign Court in the future.

By now there are many scenarios in which you get some items or do something, that can help you a lot in later scenarios.
I just stumbled upon an item from a season 0 scenario, that helps you with a really difficult skill check, failing which later makes some combats much more difficult...just as an example.

As Kyra mentioned, if your party fails at the primary mission (it happens apparently) or the secondary mission (also happens, more often than you'd think).
Actually I had this happen quite recently. We were playing a Season 0 scenario and it was one of those wonky situations where we were forced to play up even though our APL didn't quite match the power of Tier 10-11. (one of our damage dealers was level 7 with no way to overcome DR and our only arcane caster was a Fey Bloodline Gnome Sorcerer who carried no weapons. Did I mention we facing a boatload of constructs?
After several party deaths and a lot of wasted resources we called it a night…but we had successfully competed enough encounters to get 1xp and any gold we found up until that point even though we didn't complete the primary or secondary objective. That scenario was my second worst gaming experience ever. (We won't talk about the first…)
Ozymandias the Lion Blade |
Speaking of the gameday... can any one of you be convinced to join a tier 6-7 (season 3) game of Storming the Diamond Gate? Please? ^_^ One of my players went missing, and the group kind of wants to be on the safe side...
It's a part of the Game Day too, so that's a plus! Characters from 4-6 can play (thought I'd suggest a level 5 or level 6 to be honest).
