Thanks for hosting! Really enjoyed it for my first pathfinder experience! With regards to day jobs, can we just pick and choose if we don't have any? Will study the chronicle sheet tonight! And also will adjust my character slightly to become an unchained rogue! Bought the sourcebook on Monday in anticipation for this!
Yakari |
Thank you GM and thank you all! Let's continue on our adventure! :)
Fahr Mathon |
I'll be doing a little rebuild before the next scenario. Mostly just swapping favored enemy to human (what Fahr will have for the remainder of his career) but possibly also messing with attributes a bit if Fahr can afford a strength-rated bow

Gridger: Concerning Day Job, a Day Job can be any Craft, Profession or Perform skill in which you have one or more ranks. Usually the one skill with the better modifier. Note that some vanities allow you to use a different skill, but you have to purchase them with Prestige before you can do so.
Fahr: You just happened to have Favourite Enemy (Monstrous Humanoid) for the scenario with a Minotaur in it, eh? Please refrain from doing metagamaing choices like this in the future, they're really frowned upon if not worse.
Hikari Hayashi |
GM, do we need to report to you our purchases, or is it sufficient to record in our ITS? (Different GMs have done this differently.)
Day Job
Profession(Scribe), masterwork tools: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 6 + 2 = 24
Haldoc Tisbane |
OK, did a very slight rebuild and upgraded a couple things, including using 2 PP to get my wand of Cure Light Wounds (as usual).
Fahr Mathon |
Slight rebuild. Profile is updated.
Swapped STR and INT (12 and 10 respectively)
Swapped Longbow for +1 STR MWK Composite
Picked up a Holy Water
Lost a rank in Swim due to less intelligence

The GM did not like Fahr's move to be more inline with my concept of him as a Sherriff.

I will let the GM keep his PM to me as private as he wishes, but here was my reply:
I concede that Favored Enemy Monstrous Humanoid was metagaming. That said, I have never seen anyone in an official capacity of PFS even mention metagaming. I have generally understood PFS to welcome all styles and varieties of players as long as they treat each other and their GMs with respect. In fact, my understanding was that PFS doesn't really give people the liberty to exclude people they don't personally like.
Now, as for me, I am not usually a metagamer. Picking favored enemy, human for a PFS character could be considered metagaming, but I have always backed it up with RP; my second PFS character is a Halfling Ranger and his backstory is as a tied-catcher in a predominantly human city. Fahr is a sheriff from a small, rural predominantly human community, so humans are his favored enemy.
As far as Swim is concerned, it is a skill I feel Fahr should have as an outdoorsy person, but it seems the *least* thematically appropriate for him, and I no longer have enough ranks to keep it after moving his strength score closer to what it will ultimately be. If I were metagaming I would have dropped his ranks in Intimidate and Diplomacy instead; a +2 and +3 in those skills is hardly worthwhile, but they are important for my concept for him as an Erastil-worshipping, community-valuing, reconciliation-desiring, hard-nosed sheriff. There are other skills he should have as well (knowledge, religion, knowledge, geography, etc.) But he should have enough ranks for those at level 2.

I am happy to elaborate on why I made this particular choice to metagame for those who feel it's something worth talking about.

Yeska, regarding spells you wish you had prepared, let me remind you that you can leave a spell slot "open" (thus not preparing any spell in it for the day), and "fill" it later with a spell of your choosing among that level's. It just takes 15 minutes, unless you prepare more than one-fourth of your spells at that time. A wizard arcane discovery allows to reduce that time even more, down to one minute iirc.
When preparing spells for the day, a wizard can leave some of these spell slots open. Later during that day, he can repeat the preparation process as often as he likes, time and circumstances permitting. During these extra sessions of preparation, the wizard can fill these unused spell slots. He cannot, however, abandon a previously prepared spell to replace it with another one or fill a slot that is empty because he has cast a spell in the meantime. That sort of preparation requires a mind fresh from rest. Like the first session of the day, this preparation takes at least 15 minutes, and it takes longer if the wizard prepares more than one-quarter of his spells.
It's very commonly used among wizards to retain some adaptability against an unexpected turn of events.
Yeska, if you wish to change your spells now and include some "free slots", you can do it now if you wish, since you probably didn't know about that rule.

sorry for updating slow over the weekend, had a busy schedule! Am updating now and will post shortly! Don't be surprised by the half orc! Also any tips on my build is gladly appreciated :)
Just for chit chat, I found a local pfs group, and will meet them next week hopefully! So will be using what I've learn here from you guys! Hopefully i'll pick up fast and one day be able to GM too!
GM Lithrac |
Yakari and I will be at the GardenCon in Geneva from Thursday 11th to Sunday 14th August, with little time to post. This scenario will be put on hold until Monday (though you're welcome to post during that time).
Yeska, please post by next Monday to tell me you're still on board with us. I'm asking people to post (or at least check in) once a day.
Yakari |
Sorry for my absence these days, I'm moving out and planning our wedding at the same time. I'll be back tomorrow.
Yakari |
Thank you :) and congrats to you too, Gridger!
Hikari Hayashi |
Wow! This game is definitely filled with good tidings! A newborn and two marriages! Congratulations, Gridger!
Gridger Rusk |
Thanks everyone for the wishes! It's a pretty joyful yet stressful time.
I have some out of scenario questions, I think you guys won't mind but if you do let me know and I'll move it to the forums.
Upon finding a local lodge, I've recently helped out to GM in a public come and try pathfinder. Did the we be goblins scenario.
I'm a person who prefers material over digital. So I'm keen to buy modules, how would I be able to translate them for pbp, if I want to host a pbp session?
Lithrac |
To run a pbp module, you pretty much need the pdf of the scenario /module to be able to export the maps. Also, not having to retype the boxed texts is a great boon.
Thus isn't a problem with regular PFS scenarios since they only exist in pdf version, but can be tricky if you want to run a module like We Be Goblins and don't own the pdf version. It's not undoable, but it's definitely harder.

GM Lithrac |
We're almost at the end of this scenario. A few more efforts and we'll be done.
As for the future, I might have a replacement or two for the next game, to make up for the two losses. Great people with whom I've been constantly playing for two years now, more for some. Looking forward to GMing this one!
Gridger Rusk |
Coolio. Always enjoy playing with different people. Do give me feedback on how I can improve my play to make it a better experience for everyone if I'm not playing right.
Gavan Stonechild |
Hello, all - not sure if I'll be able to live up to Lithrac's introduction, but I'll certainly try; I couldn't possibly turn down another opportunity to be one of his victimsplayers. :-)
Gridger Rusk |
Welcome to the adventure! A Question to everyone with GM for the final word. I have another character, unchained summoner at 1.2 (Confirmation, GM chronicle for scions of sky key part 1), Had rebuilt completely from wizard after first adventure cause I figured I'm really bad at being a wizard!
Is it alright for the last adventure to switch to this character? I figured I could do a lot more roleplaying with him, an engineer who treats his eidolon like his pet dog!
Yakari |
Oh Shifty! :)
GM Lithrac |
Chronicles have been PM'ed to you. Make sure to download and print them out, please.
Subsequently, we're getting ready for The Consortium Compact. Please post your relevant information in the Handouts document (for Shifty and Pedwiddle), and roll your Day Job (for Hikari). Gridger, if you wish to bring a different character to the table, now is the time to pick (and post his relevant information on the Handouts page if you choose to do so).
Hikari Hayashi |
Whew, that last battle was cutting it close for a while with our bad rolls. :)
I'm thinking of re-speccing Hikari into an archer build. (This is nothing to do with how that archer almost whipped our ass. :) ) So expect some slight changes when we start.
Kitt Theos |
Gridger's new character!
Player: Batpony
Character: Kitt Theos
PFS#: 222036-4
Faction: Dark Archives
Dayjob Roll: profession engineer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
level: 1.2
I've respec this character from being a wizard, wasn't really working for me as a wizard, do I create another PFS alias with a stat block for my eidolon? What's best to go about this on pbp?
GM Lithrac |
You can either create an alias (not a PFS character) for your eidolon, or include it in your own profile. I'd suggest the latter, unless you intend to take an eidolon that roleplays on its own. If you're just "using" the eidolon in combat, it isn't worth it to create a new profile.
Kitt: Please type in this information in the chart on the Handout page.
Kitty Underfoot |
Player: Shifty
Character: Kitty Underfoot
PFS#: 41662-15
Faction: Exchange
Dayjob: Profession:Farmer 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Yakari |
Thanks for the game, GM! :)
I'll have to level Yakari up to play that last scenario. Looking forward to play it (again)!
