aid tokens:
During the event, it is possible for characters at one table to assist those at another with Aid Tokens. Each represents the assistance of allied Pathfinder agents who assist the PCs.
Once per encounter, any character at a table can use an Aid Token to assist the group in one of the ways described below. Once a table uses an Aid Token, pick another table and I'll see it is passed onto them.

If a table receives an Aid Token and doesn’t need its benefits, they’re encouraged to boost its potency by expending some of their own resources or attempting a skill check. Boosting an Aid Token, including attempting a skill check, is part of passing that Aid Token to another table. A table can neither retry such a skill check nor boost an Aid Token more than once before passing it to another table.

A table may boost a token even while in combat without taking any in-round actions; the scenario assumes the aid was granted before that encounter began.

Some Aid Token benefits may only be used if already boosted by another table. An Aid Token’s benefits vary based on the table’s subtier, and these benefits can take one of the following forms.

Allied Offensive: A Pathfinder agent strikes a creature at the same time as the PC, increasing the damage dealt by one attack by 1d8 points. In addition, after the attack, anyone attacking the target is considered to be flanking it until the beginning of the attacker’s next turn. To Boost: Succeed at an attack roll against an AC 15. Boosted Effect: +1d8 points of damage.

Burst of Healing: A Pathfinder agent heals all of the PCs of 1d6 points of damage. To Boost: Expend one use of channel positive energy or cast one spell with the healing descriptor with a spell level greater than or equal to 2. A PC must cast this spell, not simply activate a wand or scroll. Boosted Effect: +2d6 points of damage healed.

Timely Inspiration: A Pathfinder agent provides the effects of a bard’s inspire courage bardic performance for 3 rounds. The competence bonus is +1. To Boost: Expend 3 rounds of bardic performance or similar ability. Boosted Effect: Increase the competence bonus by 1.

Provide Knowledge (must be boosted): Gain the benefits of a Knowledge skill check or Spellcraft skill check used to identify a magical item; the type and difficulty (Easy, Average or Hard) depend on the table granting the benefit. To Boost: Succeed at a Knowledge check of your choice, the result of the check (Easy, Average or Hard) should be noted on the Aid Token.

Provide Spellcasting (must be boosted): Gain the benefits of a beneficial spell cast by an ally as listed on the Aid Token. To Boost: Cast one of the following spells lesser restoration, neutralize poison, remove curse, or remove disease. Only these spells may be granted. Expending resources that produce the effects of these spells, such as a paladin’s mercy class feature, may also grant these benefits.

Orc benefits:

You gain the following benefits for these rest of this scenario.
Blenta: PCs gain a +1 on attack and damage rolls against animals and magical beasts for the rest of the adventure.
Borbus: Before attempting a Bluff, Escape Artist, Perform, or Sleight of Hand check during this adventure, a PC can decide to roll twice and take the higher result. Each PC can use this benefit once before the end of the adventure.
Bukog: Each PC gains a +5 bonus on any Day Job checks performed at the end of this adventure. Those who have rolled, go ahead and adjust in the maps and handouts. Those who haven't, remember to add this when you do.
Gekgaro: Each PC gains the Nimble Moves feat until the end of the adventure.
Mirtgog: At the start of an encounter, each PC can choose to gain the Precise Strike feat for the duration of the encounter. Each PC can use this benefit once before the end of the adventure.

GM, do we know of any explicit time pressure to get into the circle and shut down the portal? Also, do we have any idea how to do so? Its probably in an old post and I skimmed over it... brb, going to reread old posts.

Ridley, unfortunately, yellow skeleton is in the way, providing cover bonus, so the bomb misses. Will resolve the splash damage tomorrow as I'm going to bed now. But a quick answer to your question. Time pressure is as overseer posted, by 5 Oct. :) I haven't posted how to close the portal yet, but you would know. However, you can't do it until you've defeated the undead guardians so I'll post later.

Xantanax does what he does best. He charges at the enemy nearest him and swings away with his greatsword! I don't think I can actually charge as people are in the way, but feel free to add two to my attack roll if it makes a difference.

Yes, you can't charge. But doesn't matter it seems... :) And as for what happens inside the stone circle, you'll find out later at the enemies' initiative order. *dum dum dum*

splash direction: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Ridley lobs the bomb too hard and it flies over the head of the skeletal champion. It lands 10 feet away from it and the resulting explosion, whilst spectacular, fails to injure any of the undeads.

Salarian moves up close, ready to call on Sarenrae's divinity to blast the undeads. Xantanax races into the stone circle despite the grasping tendrils and energy waves, swinging at the nearest skeleton. It would have been a mighty blow if he did not stumble over an expose tree root. His blade instead cleaves into the standing stone beside him, chipping out a large pebble.

Not sure what happened with Volyana, who's been absent for almost a week. Am uncomfortable botting her, because as you have surmised, there are negative consequences for being inside the stone circle. I don't want to be responsible for a character death in this way, so I'm going to put her on delay until she returns.
Angela, since Xantanax has taken his action for this round, I'll take this aid for next round, even if he has moved somewhere else.

1d20 ⇒ 7

Ree moves into the circle and pierces at the skeleton with her rapier. Although she manages to puncture its collarbone, its bony surface repels much of the force her strike. (DR) What's worse, the blood on the surface on the skeleton flows over the wound and in front of her eyes, the crack on the bone heals over! (fast healing)

The skeletal champion grins wider, if that is even possible, that the party has entered the circle and gestures for the skeletons to attack. All the undead swarm forward.

The skeletal champion accepts Ree's challenge and paces towards her, swinging its weapon. Despite Angela wielding the longspear in its direction, it barely glances at the small humanoid, doesn't viewing her as a threat. Ree manages to dodge out the way of the skeletal champion's longsword, but fails to parry the strike.
longsword vs Ree: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Angela, you don't have combat reflexes so you may take AoO vs red or orange; choose one.

The remaining skeletons swing their rusty scimitar and claw at the respective Pathfinders in front of them. Their attacks are clumsy, however, and only Xantanax got cut across his chest by a scimitar slash.

However, these are not the only hazards the party has to deal with. The black tentacles lashes out at Ree and Xantanax. Both of them fail to duck out the way and the tentacles coil around them tight, binding them in place.

That is correct as I understand it. You have a move action left. However, if you do more than a 5-foot step of actual movement, you will provoke attacks from the skeletons. So you can 5-foot step out of the tentacles, then draw a weapon or something like that. Or just not use it of there is nothing really productive to do.

Sovereign Court

Year of Boundless Wonder

Xantanax, apologies for the confusing post. Everyone, please ignore the line "1d20 ⇒ 7" right at the top of my previous post. I had prepared the entire post, updated the results as I went along. However, just before I submitted the post, I thought I forgot something and added the d20 roll, then realised I didn't, but forgot to delete it. It thus created a snowball effect that changed all subsequent d20 rolls. So my description is correct, but the dice rolls might not reflect that. To be complete, the actual dice rolls should be as follow if I hadn't added the offending "1d20 ⇒ 7".

actual dice rolls:

longsword vs Ree: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
orange scimitar vs Angela: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
orange claw vs Angela: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (12) - 3 = 9
yellow scimitar vs Ree: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (4) + 0 = 4
yellow claw vs Ree: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (13) - 3 = 10
green scimitar vs Xantanax: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18 dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 5
green claw vs Xantanax: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (10) - 3 = 7
black tentacle grapple vs Ree CMD: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
black tentacle grapple vs Xantanax CMD: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Separately, yes, Ridley has covered it pretty much. You need a standard action to break free, leaving a move action left, but most likely will take 5-ft step out to not provoke AoO. You still have a move action left, but you already have your weapon drawn so not sure what else you could do this round.

Ree, no for tier 1-2, the tentacles do no damage. Also to clarify, you do not have resistance to fire, right? So would still take the splash damage? Thought to mention there is a spot to 5-foot step to to avoid the splash damage if you wish.
Salarian, thank goodness I checked your character sheet. You actually have sun's blessings, which does +1 dmg when channeling to damage undeads, and also negates their channel resistance. All these 4 have it so it makes a difference! I didn't notice this in the previous combat though...

Angela swings at the skeletal champion but her longspear clatters harmlessly off its bony body. It does not even notice the attempt. She steps away from the stone circle, attempting to distract the skeletal champion but again, it continues to ignore her. :)

Salarian steps to the edge of stone circle and releases a wave of divine energy, filled with power from the sun, bursting through all the skeletons. The skeletal champion and two of the other skeletons seems to manage to resist the bulk of the attack, but one (the orange one) looks significantly worse for the wear. Eerily, all the undeads swivel their skeletal heads to stare at Salarian.
red will vs DC11: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
orange will vs DC11: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
yellow will vs DC11: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
green will vs DC11: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

What is perhaps more heartening is that when the divine energy sweeps over the portal, the necromantic energy pouring out from it seems to be suppressed. The tentacles look as energetic as ever, however. (So any cure or channel energy that affects any part of the area within the stone circle suppresses the necromantic energy, but not tentacles. Which is good, because it would have healed the undeads.)

Xantanax, perhaps buoyed by the divine energy, despite being weakened by his injury, summons his strength and breaks himself out of the hold of the tentacles and steps out of the stone circle. Ree adopts a different method but similarly manages to slip out of the tentacles' tight hold on her, also steps out.

This was exactly what Ridley was waiting for. With his allies out of the splash area, he lobs his bomb over the head of Salarian. A fiery explosion engulfs the skeletal champion, and the two surrounding skeletons as well as Ree are caught in the periphery. This burns the two skeletons to crisp, as they collapse into a pile of charred bones.

orange is destroyed even if it makes its saving throw
Ree, 6 fire dmg, 3 if make ref DC16

The two remaining skeletons fixate on Salarian, ignoring everyone else, seeking to disable the source of divine energy which interferes with the portal. They both step forward and strike at him. The skeleton remains as clumsy as ever, its scimitar and claw only connecting with air. The skeletal champion, however, is a more masterful warrior, and its longsword slices deep into Salarian's shoulder.

While the lieutenants are destroyed, the portal remains open, threatening to pour out more undeads that would eventually overwhelm the Kellid lands. You see no choice but to brave the tendrils and waves of negative energy to try to close the portal!

To close the portal, you need to be adjacent to the portal (marked on the map) and perform a sealing ritual. Relevant skills would be: Knowledge (arcana, planes or religion), Linguistics, Perform (oratory), Spellcraft, or Use Magic Device. (Take note that Perform can be done untrained.) You may attempt one check per round as a standard action. You need a certain number of successes to close the portal. Remember also what happened when positive energy was introduced within the area of the stone circle. I'll keep us in rounds to do this.

Ridley wastes no time jumping into the tentacley, negative energy filled circle to attempt to shut down the circle. He rubs his hands together with glee at the prospect of getting to tinker with this portal thingie.

Hey Sal! Can ya use your magic to keep these negative energy pulses at bay while we work?

Glad to see the undead have been dealt with, Angela gives the waving tentacles an apprehensive look. "Those things better not mess with my clothes or anything like that!

She then slogs through the mess of the getting up next to the portal and takes a moment to appreciate the magical energies that must goi into fueling it before trying her hand at that ritual Medda would not stop talking about.

Hmm that's exactly the same as Ridley's! Hopefully the DC isn't 20+.

Year of Boundless Wonder

Technically, Ridley's action only comes on next round since he's already acted this round (in throwing the bomb). But that's a success so not going to delay the inevitable. :)

Angela pushes her through to stand next to the portal, and recalling the key words of ritual from Medda along the travel north, she articulates them with power and gusto. Almost immediately, the portal shakes and wavers, as if some external force is clamping down on it. The rest of the party stare at that briefly, whilst the tendrils reach out towards her. Ridley quickly runs in and joins Angela in intoning the same arcane words over and over again.

"... මෝඩ මෝඩය වහන්න මෝඩ මෝඩය වහන්න මෝඩ මෝඩය වහන්න ..."

The portal shakes even more violently. It is almost imperceptible at first, but quickly it becomes apparent - the rift is starting to close, slowly but steadily!

Around the field, you see other Pathfinders nearing the end of their battles with the undeads, as more and more join in, contributing their efforts in shutting down the dimensional portal. Across the distance, you see Medda and her ever-hovering Anok, surrounded by her Kellid warriors closing in, in her hands is grasped Ivvora's hilt. Blood is pouring out from her in rivulets, some from the wounds taken in combat, but others are just pouring out of her like perspiration as she strains to summon the summon of Ivvora.

Perhaps the Twinhorn warriors, with the assistance of the Pathfinders, might make it in time after all... It now depends on the collective effort of the remaining Pathfinders...

Well done, everyone! Alright, we've completed what we can, and now await the results of other tables, and the overseer's announcement in one or two days' time. Once again, great job!

Bam! Nailed it! Good job Angela!

Ridley scampers over to Angela, and holds his hand up in the air expectantly, waiting for her to return his offer of a high-five.

Angela looks at the closing portal and fading tentacles before glancing back at Ridley and shrugging. She reaches out and gives him what is likely a contender for 'most ambivalent high-five.' "I don't know if 'nailed' is the right word, but we certainly do work well together. Have you ever thought about being a secretary, Ridley? You have the mind and patience for it."

So Ree would take 3 fire damage but get fast healing 2 for 1 round

Ree just kinda blinks at the end of all that looking around for any other threats. "Yea seriously great job you two and everyone! Oh yea Angela here. I had your jacket cleaned just kept forgetting to give it back to you..." she'll give a wry smile "thought you'd find the whole thing funny back when didn't know you'd take it so seriously."

Angela takes the jacket back, and graces Ree with one of her rare smiles. "I guess I can forgive you, especially as you got it cleaned after all and some of that is my fault; I've had more than a few comments by venture-captains that I can be too serious at times, sadly it's mostly Drangle Dreng who says anything and that man could do with being a bit [I]more[/I[ serious. I appreciate the attempt at levity; a happy group tends to be more efficient but I can motivate myself just fine."

If she can, Angela would like to try 'Convince an NPC to work as a Pathfinder Society contact, or convince a disaffected agent to work with the Society again. This requires a successful Diplomacy or Knowledge (local) check with a DC equal to 15 + your character level.' Also it might be painfully obvious but I don't know a thing about what being a contact involves...

After they close the portal, Angela tries to pull Medda aside. She looks the woman directly in the eyes. "I know we didn't get off on the right foot, but you've proved yourself to be a competent and trustworthy woman. How would feel about working as a contact for the Society? If any thing goes wrong in this part of the world again, such as having men steal your towns most prized possession, we'd be glad to step in and help if we can. All you'd need to so is send regular messages to the nearest lodge, which is in [put nearest lodge name in here]. We really could use someone who knows what is happening around here. For example of that portal had blown open without us here, we wouldn't have heard anything about it until it would be too late to do anything to fix it." Angela takes a breath before continuing, "So how does that sound?

★★★OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT★★★

As Medda and Anok join your group of Pathfinders around the stone circle, she assists you with the binding ritual. Medda thrusts Ivvora’s hilt into the portal, calling on Vildeis for aid. The shadow rift shrinks and closes, releasing a massive shock wave that knocks the Pathfinders, the Twinhorn warriors, and Medda to the ground. A field of dark, rippling energy remains, suspended above the stone altar. As Medda reaches out to pick up Ivvora’s hilt—the already broken blade now spider-webbed with new cracks—a supernatural silence descends. Only the telepathic rage of some unseen menace cuts through the quiet. “You dare to shut me out?” it rages. “I see you, but I do not see her. Where is the dwarf woman, Ivvora, who fought me so long ago? Has her mortal body failed at last? Has the realm of the living at last lost its protector? Know this: when the long shadows reach out again, I will grasp them and claw my way back into your world to see your flesh devoured by my children.”

Sound returns to the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, and Medda cautiously stands. “It seems that Eshimka still lives and has even left this foul scar on our world,” she declares. “If we are to believe its promises, the fiend will attack on the next winter solstice. If we are to survive, we must be ready. Nearly a millennium ago, Ivvora held the key to defeating Eshimka. By following her legends and discovering her fate, we may harness the same holy power that banished this fiend—and together end the beast entirely.

“When we set out, it would be the privilege of this following to have the Pathfinders at our side. But that is a trial for another day. Tonight, at last, we rest.”

Year of Boundless Wonder

Medda sighs wearily, turning to head back to the Kellid camp, with Anok supporting her by her side. She is momentarily taken aback when a halfling approoached her, so well-groomed that you would not believe that she had been involved in a major battle with undeads just moments ago.

She looks puzzled at first, but as Angela explains, Medda nods and smiles. "I agree, young one. An alliance between the Twinhorns and the Pathfinder Society might be the best gift that the Blackros might have given us in stealing Ivvora's hilt." She turns back to look at the stone circle, looking troubled. "Next winter solstice, I might need to call on your aid again..."

She lets out a deep sigh and turns to look at everyone in the party with a bright smile. "But enough of such gloomy thoughts! You have my eternal thanks for stepping in when you had no need to. And no doubt, Eshimka would not have been turned back if not for you. Come, it is now time for revelry! You have seen us battle, now you will see us celebrate!"

Thanks, everyone! This has been a fantastic group, and I hope you had as much fun as I did!
