Sovereign Court

Year of Boundless Wonder

Kicking things off. Will start slow over this weekend for general introductions and orientation.

You find yourself in Katheer, waiting in the lounge at the Pathfinder lodge operated by Venture-Captain Esmayl ibn Qaradi. You have been summoned and are awaiting instructions, together with five other Pathfinders (and a roc).

Soon, a adolescent pageboy enters the room, pushing a large trolley covered by a velvet cloth. In a voice that is cracking on the verge of adulthood, he announces, "Venture-Captain Esmayl apologises that he is unable to be present as he has been summoned abroad by a last minute business. He has left a note, however." The pageboy hands to you a piece of vellum with the Captain's neat calligraphy on it. (See Handout #1 at maps and handouts)

After you have completed reading the note, the pageboy removes the velvet cloth, revealing on the trolley three items: a silver-chased scimitar, a gold ring bearing three sapphires, and a steel shield bearing an image of Sarenrae painted in gold and studded with garnets. "The Captain bids that you are to select one of these three items to bring as a gift on behalf of the Society." He nudges the trolley forward, waiting for the six of you to decide on what to select.

The items are a +1 scimitar, a ring of protection +1, and a +1 light fortification light steel shield. Please decide among you which gift to bring on behalf of the society.

Once you have made your selection, the pageboy backs off with the trolley and takes a deep bow. "I will return shortly once I have put away the remaining items. Once you are ready, I'll bring you to the Bahjari Manor. It is less than an hour's walk away."

Please go ahead and introduce yourselves also. And in case you're wondering, this is not the proper mission briefing yet.

A lovely lady dressed in a mithril breastplate and fine clothing takes her seat.

"Hello everyone. I am Fargrim Arikbane. Follower of Desna, and student of human nature. Knowing little about Quadria, I'm not sure which of these gifts would be the most appropriate. The Scimitar is a symbol of the Dawnflower, who I understand they revere. The ring a symbol of wealth, which the trade princes surely appreciate. The shield... I'm not too sure what symbolism that might mean to them."

Standing in the room is a very tall Nagaji with metallic blue scales, wearing scale mail and having both a battle axe and a warhammer hanging from his belt. Attached to his left arm is a shield with an image of a rose growing out of the shield.

"Hmm.. Hskoro does not know much about Quadria either. But the shield looks promising." Obviously making his decision based on personal preference than what the trade prince might like.

Standing next to the roc, a wayang scratches the creature under its chin. Towering over the wayang, the roc has a saddle and a silvery set of chain barding covering it.

"Greetings" he said in common that heavily accented in Tien to the group as he made the introductions. I am called Shi no Kage or in the trade tongue "Death's shadow". It was a nickname that was given to me by the Hongal Bloodriders." He said as he looked over the gifts and paused at the ring.

"I would suggest the ring. Not everyone is a warrior, so the sword or shield would not be useful to some people. The ring is and it is also much easier to transport" the wayang said, talking with some experience with smuggling items.

Name's Vanya, my job is to make life easier for my friends... and impossible for everyone else. I'm sure we'll get along just fine. As for the gift... I'm with mr Shadow. Rilia rolls her eyes.

"Perhaps instead of just guessing, we should consider what we know about the Prince himself?" Rilia says tartly. The honey-skinned elf in her tight riding capris, cinched leather bodice and revealing white blouse cuts a swashbuckling figure even while reclining among the red and violet silk throw pillows, sampling local grapes.

"Young man." Rilia calls the servant boy over. "No doubt there is something you could tell us about the illustrious Aaqir al'Hakam. Hmm?"

Any knowledge checks we might make in regards to the Prince, cultural funeral gifting costumes, etc...? ring seems more like an intimate wedding gift to me. ;)

Year of Boundless Wonder

"Uh... Trade Prince Aaqir... He ... uh ... head of Qadira faction..." The yong pageboy starts blubbering when the rather visually stunning Calistrian cleric confronts him. Seeing everyone is ready, he quickly rushes out, cheeks all flaming, gesturing you to follow.

knowledge(local) DC10:
Trade Prince Aaqir al'Hakam emigrated from Katheer to Absalom in 4711 AR, where he took over the Qadira faction of the Pathfinder Society. In short order, he established himself as a cunning economic strategist and mercantile tour de force. He lives in one of his cousin Lady Nymara's many estates in the city—specifically the Merchants' Quarter—with his longtime partner Emir Thalzar Gaatan and their three adopted daughters. Aaqir is described as a handsome, charming man with clearly Qadiran features. His hair is short and well groomed, and he keeps his face clean shaven. (The above are taken from pathfinderwiki.com. :) By the way, he's one of the head of The Exchange faction but that's in later seasons.)

The pageboy keeps up a hasty pace, seldom turning back as he guides you to the very opulent Bahjari Manor. Any further questions directed at him meet with little response. It seems he knows little, and merely adds on that the Trade Prince will likely have more information. Once you arrive and he has handed you over to the servants of the estate, he turns back and disappears into the alleys. The estate staff are waiting for you outside. One of them who introduces himself as the steward approaches Shi, and gently but firmly suggests that his roc be directed to the stables instead. "The Trade Prince has welcomed many Pathfinders over the years, and many, like you, have their ... special companions. But there are many other guests about the estate during this solemn occasion and an unusual creature such as yours might cause unnecessary disturbances during such a delicate time. I really apologise, but I must insist. Please be assured that our stable master is most experienced, and would have little difficulty in taking care of your companion's welfare."
Sorry Shi, but I just can't see how a roc would be allowed into a rather formal wake like this.

Once the roc has been led away, the steward and servants of Zarmina’s family direct you to a study, where the Trade Prince awaits. Dressed in a white linen robe tied with a silk sash, Aaqir al’Hakam stands behind a desk in this small study. He spreads his arms wide in welcome, though his face speaks to his fatigue and grief. “You are a welcome sight, Pathfinders, and I trust you are here at the behest of the esteemed Esmayl ibn Qaradi. As you can tell, this is not a day to uncover fresh secrets. Rather, it is one of mourning for Zarmina Bahjari—a noble trade princess, my mentor, and the reason I ever became a trade prince. I am here to see to her estate, act as executor of her will, and carry on her commercial interests."

“It may seem strange to engage in business during so somber an occasion, but trade happens quickly in Qadira; my late aunt by marriage would actually be disappointed were I not to wrangle her vulture-like competitors into submission. Even so, it would be unseemly for a member of Zarmina’s family to conduct business at her wake."

“Though I have inherited much from my mentor, I do not intend to sit idly and live off her successes. It is still my intention to strengthen trade routes throughout the Inner Sea while making the Pathfinder Society my chief ally. I want you to stand as an example of what we have to gain by continuing to work with the western nations."

“For that reason, I requested the Society’s aid because we have only a brief window of opportunity to speak with our rivals and convince them instead to become our allies. There are five in particular that I would benefit from your attention, and I understand several of them maintain their own rivalries with one another. Win over as many as you can, and I shall speak with them afterward to negotiate any details. Is that agreeable?”

While as a diverse and bustling city, Katheer has no uniform burial tradition, there are some common funerary customs tied to the local worship of Sarenrae which you may know about. You recall information on this based on your knowledge (local or religion) check up to the respective DC.

DC10+:
A typical wake begins as a somber affair, but it’s common for the mood to lighten as the sun warms the room and the living share stories about the deceased and comfort the surviving family members.

DC15+:
As dusk approaches, those in attendance wish the deceased peace through speeches and gifts that might accompany the deceased to the grave. Not only does this honor the dead, but it’s also an opportunity to comfort the living and remind those present to make the world a better place.

DC20+:
A less common funerary practice involves exposing the corpse to the sun for a week or more in conjunction with simple magic to prevent the corpse from decomposing. During this time, family and
friends watch over the body to keep scavengers away.

Shi no Kage spoke to the Roc in Tien, telling it that he needs to be in a stable for a while as it was lead away.

Being a stranger in Qadria, Shi had no idea of who they were meeting with as he was use to being a courier for the faction. "So it sounds like you want us to gather information concerning the various people and see what weaknesses that can be "useful" for dealing with this present matter, correct?"

Amelia follows along behind the page boy, doing her best to examine the area around her as the scenery passes by all too quickly. Arriving at the Trade Princes quarters, she bows deeply to the man, and says "You have my condolences on your loss, but it is good to see that you keep your feet in the midst of what must be terrible upheavals in your life."
As Hskoro mentions eating people, Amelia bursts out in giggles that she quickly tries to stifle. "No, my sharp toothed friend, I don't think that eating people will give quite the results that we are looking for. I admire your enthusiasm though!"

Once Vanya asks about the marks for the negotiations, Amelia nods her head. "Just what I was going to ask. Other than greed, what motivates these people? One may prefer honey, while the other prefers a bit of spice.. I wouldn't want to mix up the approaches."

Aaqir first turns to address the dark-skin wayang. "No, not quite little one. Enmity is the last thing that the Pathfinder Society wishes, especially with such influential merchants of this region. I seek to make alliances, alliances that could be mutually beneficial. Sweet-talking is likely a common way to win them over, although admittedly some stretching of facts might sometimes be necessary. All part and parcel of trade negotiations, really. Some of them, however, might require a bit of hard-talking or impressing via other means. You'll have to take your own discretion during the conversations."

Looking at the nagaji with some concern, he intones, "I certainly trust you are joking with the last bit? If you are in need of some sustenance, there will be a good spread at the wake."

Finally, he decides to put the image of a rampaging nagaji out of his mind, and turns to address Fargrim, Vanya and Amelia. "Indeed, young ladies. You speak much truth in the matter. Once you are ready, you will present yourself to the manor's grand hall. There, I shall have my assistant point them out as they arrive and share some specific information of each of them that might be useful. Their names are Pellius Melkior from Andoran, Doritannia Raffella from Taldor, Temel Passad from Druma, Jakti al’Awar from Qadira, and Metella Rauger from the Five Kings Mountains. I understand that Passad, al’Awar, and Rauger are particularly influential.”

He adds on. "Apologies I might not be of much assistance during the wake. It would be unbecoming of me not to do my duty as a host and member of the family, and having a team of Pathfinders hovering over me, even if such negotiations are expected at such occasions, are still in bad taste publicly. One final thing. I appreciate your taking care not to draw my husband Emir and our daughters into our business today. My dear spouse does not approve of my affiliations with the Society and it is a delicate time for him right now as it is. "

He rings a bell and a young man enters the room promptly. His youth, however, belie a sharp mind as evident from his keen observing eyes. "This is Qamar. I have briefed him thoroughly of the five guests you would be introduced to, but to be honest, much of the insights are through his own observations. I foresee a bright future ahead for him." At this, Qamar humbly nods but does not respond otherwise. "He will show you to your quarters to freshen up quickly. The local custom is to wear at least some white. However, Zarmina had many foreign contacts who are likely to attend in many styles of dress, so as long as you are clean and presentable, you are welcome to wear what you wish. Just do not dally. Some of the guests are already arriving. If you have no further questions, I will take my leave."

Once you have satisfied yourself of whatever remaining questions, Qamar quietly leads you to your guestrooms, which are all adjacent to each other. He indicates he will wait outside for you to get ready. The estate’s guest apartments are spacious and well lit, providing a place for visitors to relax and do business. Each has several chairs, bookshelves, a desk, soft rugs, and storage space for a traveler’s luggage. A set of double doors leads to a smaller bedroom.

Do as much or as little prep you feel is necessary before Qameer brings you to the wake.

If you have a wayfinder:
Please indicate clearly how you are wearing the wayfinder, if at all.

He listens to the description of the various parties involved in the negotiation and his eyes begin to blur a little bit from confusion until the Qamar enters the room.

For some reason, while confirmed, Fargrim has never acquired a wayfinder. I should fix that and spend 1PP on it. She will not wear it conspicuously though in an effort not to offend Emir

Aaqir cracks a wide smile on hearing this. "Ah, no, that is not my intent. I merely wish to encourage them to strengthen their trade routes with the west. Whether with the Pathfinder Society or otherwise, such arrangements can only benefit the region economically, and also strengthen diplomatic ties as well. That you are Pathfinders will not be a secret. I am sure they have their own informants. In fact, it would be your identity that matters here. Let yourselves be representatives of the Society, and thus the west. Just by building friendships with them alone, that would put them more amenable to future trade negotiations. So if you know little of the business of trade, worry not. Just make allies, make friends, in the name of the Society."

Ok, moving along, assuming everyone has gotten ready.

Once you have prepared for the wake, Qamar leads you into the manor’s grand hall to greet guests and mourners. There, you are greeted by Aaqir, who accompanies you for several minutes to make the appropriate
introductions to his family, including his spouse Emir Thalzar Gaatan and their three daughters. He also points out Umut Tepemkau, a visiting cleric of Pharasma and friend from Zarmina’s younger days
whom her will specified should oversee her interment; al’Hakam notes that she is busy with preparations and might be available to chat later. Once he is sure you are at home, Aaqir excuses himself to speak with other guests and ensure that the funerary arrangements are taken care of, leaving you in the guidance of Qamar.

In addition to its honoring the deceased, Zarmina’s wake is an occasion for extended family and friends to reunite, reminisce, and renew their bonds. There is still some time before the wake commences and this reception provides guests time to arrive and everyone an opportunity to chat and renew old friendships. Most of the guests are already present, chatting with one another, and they are scattered throughout the entry hall and some in the second floor verandah.

Leading you to a more discreet corner, Qamar starts briefing you of the five guests with a business-like efficiency.

Continuing in next post.

With any of the merchants, you may use attempt a Bluff check (to pretend to be friendly) or a Diplomacy check (to be genuine) to positively influence them. In addition, each merchant will have specific other skill check that appeals to his/her special interest.

TEMEL PASSAD: The first person Qamar points out to you is Temel Passad. Temel Passad is a tall man with carefully groomed hair and an oiled beard. He wears pristine white clothing heavy with gold embroidery and gems. You can see that in following the tenets of the Prophets of Kalistrade, he avoids physical contact with others and partakes in only a small number of the refreshments available. "Temel Passad is a prophet of Kalistrade, an adherent to a strict set of personal codes that supposedly aid in one’s earning wealth. Despite that, he has a reputation for having a eye for fine goods, and conversations along those lines could likely impress him. He can come across as rather flippant but under the exterior is a very shrewd man. The Society has dealt with him before—typically under pleasant circumstances. His business ventures sometimes compete with those of the Five Kings Mountains, which has led to a rivalry with Metella Rauger."
Additional Skill: Appraise

DORITANNIA RAFFELLA: Qamar then points you out to Doritannia Raffella. Doritannia is an attractive Taldan woman in her 30s with long brown hair. She is dressed finely but moves with none of the grace and bearing that might suggest a noble upbringing. "Doritannia Raffella buys and sells alcohol and spirits. She comes from a common household yet elevated her status through her own acumen and hard work, though she has recently fell on hard times. She has always been somewat skittish, perhaps because her background, and this recent difficult period has shaken her confidence further. Thus, although risky, a hardline approach might sway her to your side. Whatever the case, I have no doubt her experience would be a valuable asset to any business venture.”
Additional Skill: Intimidate

METELLA RAUGER: The third merchant Qamar gestures you towards is Metella Rauger. Metella is a redheaded dwarf who
wears a tabard emblazoned with the Five Kings Mountains heraldry. She’s unarmed for this event, though she often touches her belt with her right hand as a habit. "Metella Rauger represents several trading houses from the Five Kings Mountains, and she has worked with the Society and its allies before. She has also recently signed a minor trade agreement with my master, and I trust the arrangement has benefited her and the merchants she represents thus far. I suspect she’s attending the funeral partly to take another opportunity to analyze my master and decide if a longer-term deal would be wise. She’s stubborn but fair. Like most dwarves, she is suspicious of strangers, but will be warm to those that she knows. And like most dwarves, she values hard work, so sharing with her meaningful occupation you are involved in could help her warm up. No doubt she will be on edge here thanks to Temel Passad’s having decided to attend and honor Zarmina’s memory.”
Additional Skill: Profession

PELLIUS MELKIOR: Qamar next turns to Pellius Melkior. Pellius is a clean-shaven man of average height with sandy-brown hair. He is quick to laugh and appears especially friendly to many of the guests. "Don't let his outgoing persona fool you. He is an ambitious man, and he ignore you at the drop of a hat once he is convinced there is nothing you can offer him, although to his credit, he will remain well-mannered. He is from Andoran and has established himself as a reliable trader of durable goods in his country. He is also a trader in information - any local gossip that could lead to trade benefits would excite him. Rumor has it that he has also looked into expanding his business into the River Kingdoms and Taldor.”

JAKTI AL’AWAR: Finally, Qamar turns to the final merchant. Jakti is large and a somewhat physically imposing figure. He is accompanied by two bodyguards, whom Qamar introduces as Hakim and Amalia. “Jakti al’Awar has spent much time abroad and only recently returned to Qadira. He maintains a small business in magic items, and some speculate that his travels and business are primarily for scholarly purposes. What is known is mostly speculation; he is something of an unknown here. I have observed, though, that he finds religious discourse fascinating.”

Fargrim goes past Umut Tepemkaur to offer her greetings to the fellow priest. "I would love to hear of some of the tales that you shared with Zarmina in days gone by." she tries.

---

Once the carousing starts, Fargrim begins at the top of the list with Temel.

"Good day master merchant!" she tries.

"I have heard a bit of the prophets, and would gladly spend some time learning some more. Perhaps we could discuss how you may be able to engage in some mutually profitable trade with the west - perhaps facilitated via the Pathfinder Society? I m sure there are many areas we can cooperate."

Umut bows gently at the greetings. "I apologise, but I must get ready for the wake. There are rituals that I need to conduct prior to that. Perhaps we could speak after the ceremony and interment." Giving another small bow, she turns around and makes her way up the stairs into the chapel.

---

Yes, you may take 10, so will take the 20 rather than 27. :P Not ignoring the roll yet but there's somethings that need to be done first.

Passad greets Fargrim with a warm smile, though you can see a glint his eye. "My, my, how forward you are. A Pathfinder, I take it? I've encountered a number of you in my years, and always so eager to get things done! Now first, a proper introduction would be your name. Now my is Temel Passad but I trust you already know that." Here, you gives you a knowing smile. "So now, what is yours, charming young lady?"

"So, before we get down to business, so to speak, perhaps you could do a favour for me? Just a tiny thing. No difficulty for someone of your varied abilities, I'm sure. You see that dwarf over there? She has the unfortunate fortune of being named Metella Raugar. What were her parents thinking. You see, we've got this uh... friendly rivalry going on. Nothing serious. Just pranks back and forth. You know how it is. We need to find entertainment in our dotage." Here, he lets us a self-depreciating laugh. "See, she is never one good with words, so I am certain she has her eulogy already all written out. And likely not by her. Now, if you, or your comrades hovering back there, could find some way to ...oh appropriate the speech and deliver it to me... She would likely have it on herself or it would be back in her chambers. So what do you say?"

Anyone who wishes to attempt this can either make a sleight of hand to pickpocket her, or disable device+stealth to break into her chambers. This, in the strange way that time moves here, does not count as one of the "rounds" of actions.

I thought you favored fresher climates than the desert's. My name's Vanya Kaleth and I am a Pathfinder. I heard you had deals with the Society before and I was told you are to be considered trustworthy and in this den of vipers that is a great quality to have, if you ask me. As you might have imagined already, I'm here on behalf of the Society. "I'm sure there must be a story behind your rivalry with the lady of the five kings mountains. "

Year of Boundless Wonder

Metella Raugar
Metella does not notice Vanya approaching her, even when Vanya is standing right next to her. Instead, her attention is fully on Passad. She is glaring at him, and although she is attempting to do it discreetly, she clearly lacks the guile to do so, and it is rather obvious. She starts visibly when Vanya starts speaking, swiveling to stare at her.

The dwarf initially carries herself stiffly but once Vanya introduces herself as a Pathfinder, she softens somewhat. Nonetheless, she faces you squarely and examines you intently while you speak, as if looking for any signs of trickery. "Yes, I have. And I am grateful for their services. You are generally a trusthworthy lot. Have done some trade with Aaqir and he has not attempted to cheat me yet. Not like that Passad." She turns to glare at him again briefly. "I am indeed here to arrange for more trade. Strange custom, to do this during a funeral, but you humans have strange custom. Did not expect Passad here, though. I am sure he came to irritate me." Once again, she turns to glower at him. She ponders briefly. "You Pathfinders have helped me before. Can you do it again. I need to get back to Passad for the last time he embarassed me publicly." She almost immediately turns red, thinking back on the event, then rushing on, clearly not wishing to dwell on it. "He has this habit of snotting snuff. Disgusting. I have some itching powder here, and I want you or your friends to replace his snuff with this." She presses a small bag into your hands. "He carries his snuffbox with him so you can replace it here. He is also likely to summon his servants to replenish his supply so you could also plant it in his chambers. What say you?"

Like for Passad, anyone who wishes to attempt this can either make a sleight of hand to pickpocket him and replace the stuff, or disable device+stealth to break into his chambers. This, in the strange way that time moves here, does not count as one of the "rounds" of actions.

Should have mentioned earlier for those new to the influence mechanics. To fully "convert" a particular merchant, you would need to accumulate sufficient influence points with each. Thus, whether you choose to "gang up" on one or spread out, I'll leave that to you. There are other complications, but that I'll leave for you to find/figure out. :)

Doritannia Farrella
Doritania is chewing on her fingernails while Hskoro approaches, seemingly staring at thin air. She notices what she is doing and quickly brings her hand down, then unconsciously wipes it on her dress. She starts visibly when the reptilian humanoid suddenly appears before her.

"Oh! What? No... you... what?" She blubbers uncontrollably as Hskoro browbeats her. She stares silently at him for a few seconds, then glances over to Passad who is conversing with Fargrim. She eventually looks up at the nagaji again, and gradually gathers herself, looking rather downcast. "Yes, I am down on my luck. All the years of hard work, lifting my household to a respectable state, and all wiped out by the freak storm over the Varisian coast. They say beggars can't be choosers. What can your Society offer?"

Hskoro only, sense motive DC20:

Temel Passad
"Zarmina? I hardly knew her, to be honest." Again, that warm and amused laughter. "We had little dealings in our businesses, and we know each other mostly by reputation. In fact, I wasn't even sure if I was going to attend. Sure, there's opportunities for trade alliances, like what you are proposing now, but I have to balance that against the dreariness of funerals. The endless speeches! But this one might offer more entertainment than usual." He gives you a rather impish grin, knowing you can infer what he is referring to.

"Hmm, our feud?" He turns somewhat serious. "I can't really say for certain. I do have some holdings in Druma that is direct competition with the interests of the Five Kings Mountains. But somehow, it was has gone beyond that, from professional to personal. She seems to takes offence that I can conduct my businesses without the usual dwarven sternness and dourness. And I take offence that she takes offence." He cracks again his amused and impish grin. "So, what do you think about it? I would certainly look more favourably at your proposals if you could just do this little favour for me."

Vanya disappears into the crowd, and discreetly makes her way down the eastern wing of the manor. The corridors are largely deserted as all the guests are at the entry hall, waiting for the wake to commence. With many side passages and alcoves, Vanya easily hides from the occasional servants that come by. She readily finds Passad's room from Metella's description. The lock proves little challenge with Vanya's skills, and she slips in quietly. She locates the snuff box on the dresser after a few moments of looking area. Dumping half its original content into an empty vase, she top its back up with the sneezing powder, stirring up the mixture before putting the box back in its original position. She then slips out of the room as silently as she entered, returning to the entry hall.

Metella is largely ignoring Shi, as she shifts her weight from foot to foot, waiting anxiously for Vanya's return. The dwarf perks up when Vanya appears by her side, confirming the deed being done. Rather uncharacteristically, Metella burst out into uproarious laughter, slapping Vanya's back with glee. Shi shortly after suffers the same fact. "You Pathfinders really are quite something, aren't you? That was mighty impressive. Finally, I'm getting back to him for ... for that incident." She looks at Shi, this time with less wariness in her eyes. "So, you're with her, eh. And you're a merchant? What do you feal in?"

All five merchants turn to examine her as she walks by with looks of casual interest (Passad), jealousy (Doritania), disapproval (Metella), lust (Pellius) and apparent disinterest (Jakti).

She comes by Hskoro in the midst of his discussion with Doritania. Although she is not certain of the context, she notices Doritania constantly glancing over to Passad, as if ... (see spoiler above)

Amelia is out of commission for a while. Rather than bot her, I'll give her two "rounds" worth of actions when she returns. So I'm just pending Rilia's action for this "round", and possibly anymore thievery shenanigans for Passad's favour, before moving to "round" 2.

"I have recently signed a huge contract with the Five King Nations, with Metella herself actually, to supply the famed dwarven-smith arms and armor for the Andoran's Eagle Knights. She certainly seems quite taken in by you and your friend over there. So whatever trade arrangements she is making with you will likely benefit me as well! And likely vice versa!" Amelia listens intently as Aaqir enumerates the list of individuals requiring persuasion, then bows deeply to the man. 'You may be assured that we will be as discreet as is possible. She freshens up by putting on clean robes, and sets her travel worn clothing out to be cleaned. Finally, she takes a long white slip and with a few measured words and a wave of her hand, she uses a mending spell to adjust the garment into a sash that she could wear over her shoulder and wrapped about her waist. Outfit completed, she steps into the hall to await the other Pathfinders.

What are your specialties, and how do you obtain your items of study?"
