Lissa Villasani |
"What is that thing?" she wonders out loud, wasting precious breath that would be better spent moving quickly.
"It's a big zasraný snake!" Lissa cries out in response, snarking her way though her own 'What the hell is that!?!' moment. "Keep Moving!"
As she's been doing this whole time, Lissa calls for more power with the sounds of crashing surf and flowing water motes. However, instead of opening an point in the orb in front of her up for a spray of water, she instead waves her hand through it, coming out holding a sort of handle. Then, with a twirl, she cracks her makeshift water flail along the side of the snake, letting it shatter on it's side.
Move action - Gather Power (Supernatural)
Standard action - Empowered Water Blade on Snakey. Due to the way that Kinetic Blade is worded, This is an 'attack with a melee weapon' action and not a 'Use a Spell-like ability' action. As such, it doesn't provoke an AoO
Empowered(1 burn)+ Kinetic Blade(1 burn)+ Gather Power(-1 burn) + Infusion Specialization(-1 burn) = 0 burn
Kinetic Strike(EO,bless): 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 1 + 1 = 28
Kinetic damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) + 6 = 18
So, if that hits, it's 27 damage.
Sirrah Lakewell |
I suspect that put's me out of the fight...good luck fellow Pathfinders!
Sirrah thought he was ready, but when he caught a glimpse of the Starwatcher he found himself completely flat-footed and then wholly grappled.
Ahhh...oh $#!+...Geeet the disks!
Sirrah fights and squirms, hoping to break free.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
But the creature grip is so tight!
Fargrim Arikfind |
Taking the brightest of the discs, Fargrim hurries back towards the niche marked with "sun".
Sense motive vs AOO: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
GM, could you confirm which disks we have in which slots at the moment?
Fargrim Arikfind |
So there is still stars and sun to go? Can Fargrim put the bright one (with a big of help from someone) in the sun niche this round. Or is that a full round action in its own right? What about passing the stone to others to do that while she heads back? Free action?
Esh Kethar |
I'm sorry, I'm a little lost. I have to go through the serpent and get the disk, right?
Esh tries to fly through the serpent and tries to avoid attacks with style. Using derring-do on acrobatics
Acrobatics, Derring-Do: 1d20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ (20) + 7 + (2) = 29 Well it sure helps!
Esh Kethar |
I read it. I rolled an acrobatics check to avoid an AoO.
GM Granta |
@Esh: Please double check your CMD vs. grapple, including shield of faith and the +30 insight bonus. Is it 45?
@Fargrim: Picking up the disc is a move action, so I don't think you can make it that far this round.
AoO (Fargrim): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22 Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Grab: 1d20 + 37 ⇒ (4) + 37 = 41
Round 1-2
Effects bless
- GM - 17 damage, 2

- Esh - 9 damage, grappled, fly, shield of faith, -2 CON
- Sirrah - 5 damage, grappled, false flanker
- Lissa -
- ---Round 2---
- Fargrim - -2 CON
Esh's acrobatics don't amuse or confuse the serpent, as one of its tails lashes out and grabs the ganzi. Sirrah twists and turns in his own way, almost escaping from the tail lock.
Lissa finally gets the Pathfinders up on the scoreboard, although her weapon seems to be ineffective against the creature, as it resists much or her blow.
Fargrim picks up the brightest disc and runs back to the first room, easily avoiding thrashing tails.
Triblin is up. Somebody may bot him if he hasn't posted in the next ~20 hours.
Esh Kethar |
Oh, snap. Yes, unfortunately my CMD is correct.
Triblin Runlark |
Another call to his goddess, Triblin channels Sarenrae's love to his team, before he moves to a better position!

Triblin heals Esh and Sirrah's wounds, then steps farther away from the dangerous tails--two of which constrict around Esh and Sirrah, wounding them again. But even with the heavy disc in her hands, Fargrim easily dodges the third tail.
Everybody is up.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim continues to work across the room, trying to judge where the tails are going.
SM: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (9) + 18 = 27
She then tries to help get the disk up to the height required to put it into the alcove.
Single move out, and then rest of turn helping put the disc into place. In general she would prefer to waste half a round movement and not end a turn in the AOO range of the tentacled monster as that substantially increases the chance of her getting grappled.
"Can that flail help them at all?" she asks.
Lissa Villasani |
"Let go, you overgrown boot cover!" Lissa snarls as she calls on the surf and waves again, and smashes into the serpert with her summoned watery flail.
Same as last round.
Move action - Gather Power
Standard action - Empowered Water Blade on snakey.
Kinetic Blast(Bless, EO): 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 1 + 1 = 25
Kinetic Damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4) + 6 = 16
So, 24 damage if that hits.
"Fargrim!" she adds when she has a moment to glance toward the wall, "Get the other one, then Triblin or I can come assist!
@Fargrim: I don't think you can solo an insert of a disc. Granta said it would take 2 people without a fly or an enlarge person.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Yeap, this the move action to assist in the insert, or if that is full round, then half a round hanging round, admiring the scenery!
GM Granta |
@Fargrim: One move should get you next to Triblin, so you should definitely start slotting the disc now. That way, you have a move action leftover next round, in case you end up wanting it.

Sirrah just barely squeezes out of the coiling tail, almost having to dislocate his shoulder to do so.
Lissa's liquid blade strikes one of the three heads, but still doesn't damage it as much as expected.
Fargrim easily dodges the snake tails on her way to the wall, then starts working the heavy stone disc into place.
@Triblin: Fargrim needs your help to slot the disc. Are you okay doing that with your turn? It is a full round action.
Esh and Triblin are up. If they don't post within ~20 hours, somebody please bot them.
Triblin Runlark |
Triblin grins as he helps Fargrim slot the disk while shouting over his own shoulder. "Keep it busy for a moment longer! I think we may be getting this one put up!"
Esh Kethar |
Esh tries to break free from the grappling tentacle!

Esh almost slips out of the xacarba's grip, but it tightens around his ankles just before the ganzi gets away completely.
Triblin makes a foothold with his hands and levers Fargrim a few feet higher, shaking under the larger creature's weight.
The Xacarba finally catches Lissa and Sirrah in its grip, and tightens its coils around Esh even more.
@Fargrim: It will take your standard action this round to finish with the disc.
@Triblin: As long as you delay until after Fargrim, you'll have your full turn this round.
Everybody is up.
Esh Kethar |
"OUCH! Let me go, awfullllll beast!" says Esh with a tremolo in his voice.
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 7 + 30 ⇒ (13) + 7 + 30 = 50 Much better. Thank you magical fountain!
If Sirrah tries to attack the snake, I'll trigger the false flanker implemented in his mind.
Sirrah Lakewell |
Arrgh! I made my Escape Artist only to get grappled again immediately...and I'll be dead next attack.
Sirrah escapes the grasp but before he can even get his bearings is snatched up again. Once more he tries to wiggle free.
Fountain Aided Escape Artist: 1d20 + 10 + 30 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 30 = 41
That's real nice...folio reroll
Fountain Aided Escape Artist + GM stars: 1d20 + 10 + 30 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 10 + 30 + 3 = 49
This time he readies his rapier should that blasted tail come his way once more.
Can false flanker be used here?

That parry seems unlikely to work...sigh
Triblin Runlark |
I'll delay until Fargrim gets off her living step ladder.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim mounts the disc and then climbs down, readying herself for the next dash through the furious wrestling match.
Not going to head there this round and make two AOOs checks and be subject to normal attacks as well, unless all those tentacles are currently busy. I'll get ready to dash across next round.
Triblin Runlark |
Once again, the gnome rushes in and let's his goddess' divine power flow through him, channelling her blessings as Sarenrae's holy conduit.
Channel: Deselecting snake dude: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
"I'll start healing in a moment. Just keep the beast distracted!"
Lissa Villasani |
Lissa gives a brief girlish squeal as the snake finally gets a hold of her. Considering how potent this snake has been so far, she foregoes the attempt to call power while in the beast's grasp, and instead tries to wiggle her way out, hoping to continue beating on it once she's out.

Esh and Lissa wriggle free of the fiend with ease. Sirrah escapes too, but only with a bit of last second luck as the creature instinctively tries to grab onto Esh with the tail that already has Sirrah in its clutches.
Fargrim finishes slotting the SUN disc, then watches the xacarba for a gap in its offense. Triblin rushes forward and delivers some much needed healing to the Pathfinders--including himself, as one of the freed up tails grabs the small halfling.
Lissa dodges the next attack that comes her way, but Esh and Triblin both take the full brunt of the coiling limbs.
Everybody is up.
@Triblin: Please add CMD to your stat bar.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim, her hands free, tries to time her next dash across the room.
sense motive for AC vs AOO: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35

Lissa Villasani |
The relief of being freed from the snake's grasp was rather distinctly balanced by seeing Esh being trapping again, as well as Triblin getting bound by the snake. "NO!" she screamed out, half hoping that the noise will keep the snake's attention on her instead of Fargrim or the others, "I'm the threat, you fangless waste of flesh!" And with that, she calls the surf and waves, and smashes the snake again with her watery flail.

Sirrah scores a solid blow, but nonetheless only scratches the serpent. Lissa's strike also has less effect than expected, but more than Sirrah's small blade.
Fargrim expertly dodges all three tails on her way to the other room, and bends over the final disc, which seems to twinkle with a dim light.
Esh and Triblin are up.

Esh and Sirrah flail about, feebly trying to hit the xacarba. And yet Lissa fares even worse, as she can't even get across the room. Fargrim picks up the disc and moves to just outside of the serpent's reach, waiting for the opportunity to rush past. Seeing his allies struggle, Triblin heals everybody again.
The xacarba's tails squeeze Lissa and Triblin, expelling all the air from their lungs in a painful hug, and Esh takes another blow to the body.

Esh's strike barely scratches the snake, but does do some damage. Sirrah takes a distracted swing at the creature, then moves to the wall with the slotted discs, while Lissa slips out of the coiling tail.
Fargrim dances past all three tails and over to the wall with Sirrah, then Triblin shines the last of his healing light on the party of Pathfinders.
The fiendish creature fights for a few seconds more while Fargrim raises the last disc into position, then all four stone discs fuse into the wall with a powerful discharge of light and magical energy.
Some unseen force sucks the xacarba back into its prison, then instantly repairs and seals the doors.
At this point the xacarba can neither stop you from slotting the discs, nor do enough damage to kill anybody first.
