Fargrim Arikfind |
"Let us see if we can fix up this Arletta before we commune with the spirit" agrees Fargrim, who joins in the search.
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Esh Kethar |
Esh tries to help the aasimar to search.
Perception, aid: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Sirrah Lakewell |
Never much for subtlety, Sirrah moves through the tents.
Arletta, Arletta, where are you my dear!
Perception, aid: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Esh Kethar |
Esh smiles brightly when the group finds the woman. He stands before Sirrah, pushing him to the side.
"We arrrrrrrrre... the PATH FINDEEEEEEEERSS!"
Expecting a reaction, Esh just stands there and blinks several times.
Seeing that it may not be the best approach, he clears his throat and takes a fake-serious expression.
"Ma'am, we are special agents. We were sent from Absalom to seek information about what happened here. Do you possess any piece of relevant information and/or are you possessed by any spirit and/or ghost?" he asks as he begins to write down some notes on a paper.
Sirrah Lakewell |
Smiling at Esh, Sirrah moves his ahead around Esh until he can make eye contact with Arletta. I'm Sirrah, my eager friend is Esh, and what he's trying to say is we are friends and here to help. Now are you okay, and can you tell us what's happened here?
Fargrim Arikfind |
"And I am Fargrim."
She gestures towards the site and where Juliete was last seen.
"Your colleagues are concerned about your wellbeing. Though to be honest, I'm a little concerned about theirs. What can you tell us about what has been happening here?"
Lissa Villasani |
*starts laughing at Esh's antics*
First Boris, then Tinley, now this.... I just seem to attract the more bizarre members of the society, Lissa shakes her head with a smirk on her face.
After Sirrah steps in to rescue the conversation, Lissa decides to finally chime in. "I thought Juliet said you were ill.... Are you getting better?"
GM Granta |
”I was investigating the carvings on the balcony yesterday, when I accidentally brushed against the ivory sphere. I suddenly felt myself again, and I hadn’t even realized anything was off before. Something was influencing me magically, and I think the rest of my companions are still under its sway. Please, help me save them”
Fargrim Arikfind |
"I wonder if we can coax Juliet into touching the sphere too..." muses Fargrim.
"What else is happening? What about that hammering sound that Juliet is not worried about."
Esh Kethar |
Esh strikes a non-existent beard. "Interesting! But it looks like they all consider you ill because you don't work anymore. Or maybe because it's a self-defense mechanism from the charm that was put upon them. What if I take the sphere and chase them all? Or we could try to gather them in one place? Or sneak on them at night? What do you think?"
Lissa Villasani |
"That sphere is much larger then you Esh," Lissa, quickly responses, briefly glancing at it from the ground, "I'd be very much surprised if you could even lift it. However, I do think taking a closer look is warranted. " And with that, she slips up the back staircase to get a better look at the sphere up close.
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim goes back to Juliete to talk with her about the sphere.
"If you have a moment of time, could you come with me to the Sphere, I have a couple of questions for you about it..."
diplomacy?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Sirrah Lakewell |
Sirrah tags along with Fargrim to talk with Juliet.
Aid Diplomacy: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Yeah, you should come over there with us, it will only take a couple minutes at most.
Esh Kethar |
"Yeah, we DEFINITELY find out the truth about this story!" punctuates Esh, ignoring Lissa's remark about the sphere being too big for him.
Diplomacy, aid: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
GM Granta |
"I haven't seen the source of the hammering, but it has to be the monolith trying to break down something. Whatever it is, it can't be a good thing," Arletta says to Fargrim.
Juliet reluctantly accompanies you all to the sphere, but stands as far back as possible, "I hope this is important, and quick. I have very important work downstairs that can't wait."
Sirrah Lakewell |
Juliet, look here is this a flaw in the sphere, it's very curious. It hard to see come over here and get a closer look. I think this might be an important find. Sirrah leans in close to the Sphere, waving Juliet to come closer.
Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Esh Kethar |
Esh waves his arms.
"Yes, yes! Look here!"
Bluff, aid: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Fargrim Arikfind |
bluff aid: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
"This could be the breakthrough you were looking for!"
Lissa Villasani |
"Besides, you know Azlanti history and language better then we do." Lissa adds quickly. "We need your skills for this."
With a +9 on Bluff, I believe I auto-aid.
Lissa Villasani |
Lissa mutters a curse in Varisan under her breath, before storming up to the sphere. With a look of annoyance on her face, she slaps her hand and lower arm onto the sphere. After a moment, she turns her head and blatantly fake coughs twice, before looking at the others. "Nothing, not a single feeling of any sort of illness or oddity."
If this is necessary, and there is some disease or such, Lissa will still do the same action, only bluffing about her condition.
Fort save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Bluff: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Triblin Runlark |
Raising his hand, the gnome is in complete awe at the woman as she takes the initiative and handles the sphere before turning towards Juliet. "Nothing is wrong with here, and she's touching the sphere. Maybe it can also shed light as to further discoveries at the site? I mean, it could be the key to whatever relics you found below!"
I can attempt to block her from leaving, but my short stature isn't the best for grapples.
Fargrim Arikfind |
What would the mechanic be to try and get her to touch the sphere, ideally in an "accidental" manner, such as a trip or push. CMB?
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim places her hand on the sphere.
"Enlightenment!" She reaches for Juliet.
"This may answer all your questions!"
diplomacy, gona need some aids here I think: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
And that is why they make a 20 on the dice!
Esh Kethar |
Esh places his hand as well.
"OhhHHH! I see what you mean, sister!"
Diplo aid: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 Barely. That's a +2 anyways.
Triblin Runlark |
Eyes widening, Triblin rushes towards the sphere and places his hand on it. "Last one has to buy drinks! Come on Juliet!"
Diplomacy Aid: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Barely! Yay!
Esh Kethar |
That's a 33. Anyone to help cap the "35" step?
Sirrah Lakewell |
Sirrah touches it as well,
Interesting, Juliet should really should touch it, it will shed light on everything.
Diplomacy aid: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Well I tired
Sirrah Lakewell |
It's okay Juliet. I'm sure together we can fix it. First thing to do is get the rest of your staff over here and touch the sphere.
Sirrah tries to reassure the exploration leader.
Tell us everything you remember.
Fargrim Arikfind |
"And then we can work together to fix it. But it sounds like time is of the essence." she adds, with the sound of pounding echoing in the distance.
Lissa Villasani |
That worked?!? The surprise on Lissa's face is immediately apparent. I don't believe it... I suppose doing the dumb things you have to do does work form time to time.
"At the moment, the recent past isn't important. It's the ancient past and the now that we should be focused on. Assuming that the Starwatcher is what enchanted you, and it's also what the monolith is here for, what can you tell us?"
Esh Kethar |
"YESSSSSSSSSSSS! What a team! Good job everyone! ANd That was A BRIL-LIANT idea, Fargrim!" shouts Esh, trying to high five the others.
GM Granta |
There is no mechanical effect to freeing the other Pathfinders now, so we'll hand wave that part.
"The Starwatcher had us looking for stone discs. We already found two and slipped them through the crack in the wall. I don't know what they are or why it wants them, but it can't be for something good. I fear we have little time to act."
Fargrim Arikfind |
"What more can you tell us about the StarWatcher?" asks Fargrim.
She hurries south, looking in through where the door has been burst inwards.
Triblin Runlark |
"Yes, it would be quite helpful. Especially if this, thing, is looking to do harm towards others," Triblin mentions, while standing next to Fargrim, a bit eager to learn as to what she sees.
Triblin Runlark |
"Right, right! I almost forgot!" Triblin will then cast protection against evil on Lissa. "I have a friend that has me cast this on him every so often. Supposedly helps!"
GM Granta |
Juliet has nothing else to offer, so let's move on.
Upon passing through the broken doors, the first thing you see is a large alcove filled with a stone fountain beneath a carving of a cyclops breaking free of clutching tentacles. The fountain’s basin is full of clear water.
Lissa Villasani |
Lissa nods to the gnome, "Thanks. Considering what we know, I have a feeling it'll be important to have up." Looking at the others, she continues, "Let's go find that golem and see what it's trying to brake open.
------
Lissa looks at the fountain, quizzically, before stirring it around in the basin with her powers. "Well, it's not an illusion at least. Anything funny about it mystically?"
Fargrim Arikfind |
arcana: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
"This fountain is magical. It has an aura of abjuration. They are generally protections. It could be this will protect us from the befuddlement that the others suffered.."
Hot and thirsty, she happily drinks from it.
Esh Kethar |
"OOOh formidable! You're a wonderous ally, my dear Fargrim!" says Esh as he follows happily the aasimar into drinking the water.
I can't make a DC 27 spellcraft check, though. Anyone else?
Triblin Runlark |
"Well, since everyone else is doing it, and from the looks of nothing bad happening, I'll take a drink as well!" running up towards the fountain, the gnome climbs the edge so he can get a good drink by dunking his head in the water.
GM Granta |
Unless somebody specifically says otherwise, I will assume everybody drinks from the fountain.
Of immediate interest is the Azlanti monolith, relentlessly pounding on a stone door. Both the door and the monolith shows signs of wear and breakage.
The walls of this large, vaulted room are carved with stylized astronomical symbols. The south wall contains a pair of immense doors made of stone. Smaller doors on the east wall have been battered inward. The north wall contains four large panels, each eight feet above the ground with a central gap about seven inches wide and an inch deep. Above the four panels are blocky letters, and below them, mosaics featuring sway-backed cyclopes. The chamber’s floor displays a stylized depiction of Golarion and its moon traveling around the sun.
Fargrim Arikfind |
Fargrim does a quick check of the room for magic.
"That horseshoe, and the aegis over there... they are both magical, along with that massive golem." she notes
spellcraft DC18: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
spellcraft DC24: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
"But I can't tell what they do. Can anyone read that writing?"
Sirrah Lakewell |
Sirrah drinks the water.
Examining the big room, Wow, pretty neat. I don't know what any of it means. But I do know one thing, Juliet's crew look trough the crack that leads into this room, and the big construct wants in there too.
He looks to the rest, Something bad is behind the door; I say we find out what it is!
Fargrim Arikfind |
"Well, the construct will be through eventually. In the meanwhile, why don't we see what else we can discover in here.."
She waits for the others to try and read stuff and then checks out the nearby room.
