Technic Siege/Full Map

Vrald and Rogar mount the stairs and find...no one at the top.

Two stairways lead up to a curtain-shrouded balcony, where a massive brazier burns below a smashed skylight. The ruddy light illuminates an ominous bronze idol with the head of a bull.

A bit of study identifies the idol as a guise of the arch-devil Moloch. Fragments of jewelry and human bone lie buried in the brazier’s ashes, including an iron holy symbol of Iomedae with the initials “C.P.” engraved on the back. You recall that while such diabolical worship is technically permitted in Qadira, human sacrifices are illegal.

"We found this, and thought it would ease the heart of the bride and groom to have it quickly returned. But we also uncovered signs of human sacrifice and a disturbing note about a sorcerer."

He pulls out the letter and shows it to Master Bashir. He also shows the holy symbol that was recovered.

"Does the name of this sorcerer mean anything to you? Do you know where we may find him? There is word of a house that he has had "modifications" made to, probably for smuggling. If we can't find him in town that is our next place of investigation."

Thinking on the holy symbol he also asks.

"Is there a temple of Iomedae in the city? They may want this back, and be able to tell us who it belonged to. That might also provide a clue."

He gestures over his shoulder.

"We have some prisoners for the guard as well, they might talk with the right persuasion."

After offering thanks for the first item returned, Bashir looks at the letter, and some of the color drains from his face.

He strokes his beard, muttering to himself.

Yes...Raaamiz.

He speaks to Vrald and the group.

"I regret to say that I do know the name of Raamiz Ibn-Chadli. You see, he once courted Lujine here. She was fond of the man at first,
but eventually her heart was turned against him, as he could no longer hide his cruel and avaricious nature. He could be dangerous, as he is known to be a sorceror."

"Ibn-Chadli owns a gaudily painted villa on the Avenue of the Phoenix. It sits next door to a burned-out villa of one of his former rivals. You can't miss it."

He provides a full description and directions to the house.

I realize that I did not address Belousov's knowledge checks before. Once again, I have little additional information to provide. The altar is not radiating a magical aura, and doesn't appear to be enchanted in any way. You recall some details about Moloch, but nothing particular to this cult.

With Adair and Shonne leading the way, the party makes good, unobstructed progress.

Small villas line the Avenue of the Phoenix, the local residences of traveling merchants and officials. Intricate designs cover the homes’ finely carved doors, subtle reminders of their residents’ wealth and taste. Midway down the street, the gaudily painted walls of one home contrast sharply with the burnt-out remains of an unfortunate neighbor: this must be Raamiz Ibn-Chadli’s villa.

Map is updated. I tried to make the inside hidden while at the same time revealing doors and windows. Just let me know how you'd like to proceed.

Ok guys, I have to confess an error. The map is not for the main house. It's for an area you'll likely explore in just a bit. There isn't a map for the house, but there are enough details that honestly wouldn't change your approach. I'll just apply the scouting to the main house now, then we can move ahead..

Shonne scouts the perimeter and finds no apparent threats.

Given my error, if you'd like to change spells you may.

Altair approaches the stout, locked door set within the 12 foot high walls that surround the villa. He easily determines that there are no traps. He gets out his lockpicks and...

Altair Disable: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33

he is quickly able to get the door open!

The house is dark. (it is nearly nighttime outside too) There don't appear to be any threats inside.

The party begins a search of the house.

The villa has several comfortable bedchambers, a bath chamber, a dining room, and a study upstairs. Downstairs holds two storerooms, a kitchen, a cramped servants’ room, and disheveled guards’ quarters (currently empty).

The study holds several items of interest. A box atop Ibn-Chadli’s desk holds neatly-organized correspondence. These papers include a sheaf of love letters written to Lujine, returned after she rejected his suit. Another bundle details Ibn-Chadli’s dealings with a band of slavers. While slaving isn’t illegal, the papers suggest these men abduct Qadirans for sale in Cheliax. One slaver captain’s note agrees to rendezvous with Ibn-Chadli at sunset on the day
after the wedding.

Belousov and Altair spot a lose floor tile! Beneath it the group locates the Jewels of Xalmer, wrapped in greasy black parchment.

Under them sits a battered journal, a volume once stolen from Pathfinder Venture-Captain Targos Min-Katheer. Its notes describe sites near Katheer, but the text readily falls open to a section describing the Tomb of the Upright High Priest Ubaidah Abd-Hikmah several hours’ ride up the coast. It details the isolated site’s importance to the local church of Sarenrae.

You also see a series of small dwellings on the back of the property. Altair catches a hint of movement near the easternmost
hut.

He gestures for the welling gifts to be rewrapped and starts to make his way back to the feast. As word of the movement outside is heard, Vrald changes direction and calmly walks towards where the movement was pointed out.

"You, over there. Come out at once."

Shonne holds on casting her own spells and only casts blend. She uses whatever the distraction provided by Vrald and the fact she will no longer be standing anywhere near the noisy man to creep closer (on a flank if possible) for a better look at the huts.

Altair and Shonne move very quietly, scouting the area. Altair can tell there's someone or something trying to be very quiet as well inside the shack, not far inside the front door.

After a quick look by the scouts, Vrald calls out. There is no immediate answer. After a short pause, a voice beckons from the shack.

"No, no. I shan't be coming out there. Why don't you come in here? It's really quite lovely. We could have such fun playing a little game together."

If the door is unlocked he will push it open and step aside, trying to avoid presenting himself as a target to a loaded crossbow - or whatever else might be waiting within.

Shonne looks the building up and down and comes to a decision.

Given some indication, she swaps her bow for her spear casts bull strength on herself, breaks the window closest to the target and leaps in (maybe using the spear as a poel vault for style points). (See map, though the exact window depends on Altair's information). Her moves within the building depend on what she encounters. Note: she could also just shoot out the window from 10 feet away drop the bow and jump in drawing her spear as she goes if that makes more sense.

If she can, she holds up Vrald for the time necessary to execute both entrance attempts simultaneously. If not and he gets in or triggers some sort of initiative roll this post probably becomes a waste of posting space.

Ok, I'm back. Just sorting things out.

Shonne sneaks around to the west side as Altair indicates that is where the voice is closest.

She breaks the window with her spear just as Vrald opens the door to rush inside!

Both of them see a figure wearing a bulky dolman robe and an elaborately embroidered aba. It appears to be a stocky Keleshite man with amethyst-tinted spectacles.

Both of these actions would trigger initiative.

Altair is just going to assume that people here aren't going to want to talk nicely. Sorry if that messes up what other people were planning.

Altair moves into the room to get a clear attack and tries to stab the man in the side, hoping to both wound him and hinder any thoughts of escape.

Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Sneak Attack: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4) = 8
If the man takes sneak attack damage, his movement is cut in half and cannot take 5-foot steps for 1 round.

Atlair rushes in, but his attack misses. The man throws off his cloak, revealing 2 large red wings and a pair of horns on his head. His eyes glow red as he begins to incant the words of a spell...

I guess that means you can get an AOO if you want to Altair. Know Religion will ID the baddie.
