Caoilte |
He went out the window. Quick, get out and cover the outside. Caoilte begins to move down the hallway hoping the faster archons move ahead of him.
Brew, I'm going to move as far as I can as a full move action. I'll leave it up to you to judge how far I can move down the full hallway.
Havelockk |
I pursue my attacker, if I can catch him, I will swing, if at range, I will cast Magic Missile. I assume the top of the map is North
Tarek Delrin |
I think this is what he wants us to do. This is a game and he is enjoying making us chase after him. Maybe we should spilt up in groups and hunt him down? Tarek will look out the window to see where the Chelaxian went before deciding how to proceed.
Eloriand Miller |
Eloriand runs down the hall and the stairs and out the front door to his left and rounds the corner of the house, stopping when he suddenly encounters Havelockk.
Eloriand ran a total of 70 feet. This is well within his running range.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16 +2 more if Humans are involved
GM Brew |
The party quickly attempts to locate their elusive foe. Elriand and Caoilte run to join Havelock outside of the house. Haveolock peers down the outside of the western wall of the house but cannot locate his attacker. Kat clears the middle room, finding a bedroom much like the others located on this floor. The window is open. Tarek looks out of the window from the western most room and peers to the street level, seeing Havelock, Caoilte and Eloriand in pursuit of the attacker.
On to round 3.
Havelockk |
I continue in pursuit, running after the attacker, around the building...but staying minimally 3 feet from the side of the building and even more when looking at the deck/storage landing with the barrels.
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek closes the window and makes sure it is secure. He removes his wayfinder and enables the protection from evil ability and also attempts to detect evil once more as he walks back toward the hallway It seems the others are in pursuit of our attacker. It may be wise to secure all the windows. He has had time to prepare for our visit and he may be using the windows as a way to elude us.
Eloriand Miller |
Eloriand will attempt to use his tracking skills to find where the attacker has gone. He will listen for an approaching invisible assailant as well.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 +2 more if Humans are involved
Survival - Tracking: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 +2 more if Humans are involved
GM Brew |
Eloriand attempts to find tracks in the cobblestone outside the house, but the area is too well trafficked and the foe's tracks are not easily distinguished from the general ones.
Tarek closes he door and removes his shining wayfinder from his belt. the needle quivers and points to the east and north. He further activates the device's protective magic.
Havelock slowly advances, weapon drawn, cautiously looking for the smiling man.
Kat, Isador then Caoilte.
Havelockk |
I continue my search, looking for the "smiling man" and hoping for the opportunity to enlighten him with a smile of my own.
Isador Kane |
Upon seeing the empty room and the open windows, Isador curses under his breath as he turns to make his way towards the stairwell. He will retrace his steps back through the house and exit onto the street.
He keeps his bow out but tries to hold it close to his body, not wanting to draw attention to any townsfolk that may be in the area.
He scans the street and surrounding area for any sights or sounds that might alert him to the elusive figure.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Havelockk |
As I continue my sweep for the "smiling man" I feel my frustration grow while maintaining my concentration and thinking best where to shove my enchanted blade into the "smiling man".
Eloriand Miller |
Eloriand will stick with Havelockk and continue the search.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 +2 more if Humans are involved
GM Brew |
The party desperately tries to locate their opponent, certain that he is invovled in the dark business that has beset Dawton. In their attempts at efficient seraching, the Archons spread out within and without the house.
SN: 1d20 + 31 ⇒ (11) + 31 = 42
ATTK: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Havelockk |
I wheel around the corner and my eyes narrow as I see the "smiling man."
Yeah, we just love to rain on people's parades and make them feel all bad because we can! Course, we don't murder folks in the night and try to blame innocents..with other folks' weapons either!!.
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek heads back to the room in the north east corner of the house and continues to follow where his wayfinder directs him. If his wayfinder points in a new direction then he will travel to the new destination instead.
Kat, my wayfinder is detecting an evil presence in that direction He points the gadget to the northeast direction I believe our Chelaxian friend is somewhere over there. I will let you know if the direction changes
Tarek straps his shield to his back so he can manipulate his wayfinder while carrying his Chakram in his other hand
Isador Kane |
Startled at the sound of the blade so close to his ear, Isador turns and faces his assailant. Upon hearing the man's words, He snap fires the shortbow in an attempt to push the attacker into retreat.
By the Hells!
Seeing his arrow sail wide, he quickly prepares another.
He is here! To the front of the house, Quickly!
Attack (Masterwork Shortbow): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage (Arrow): 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Eloriand Miller |
Eloriand hears the commotion and runs to the front of the house ...
GM Brew |
Isador responds to hsi attacker, he deftly steps back and fires a wild shot from his bow that misses the villan. Eloriand and Havelock close in on the commotion, keying on Idaor's shouted warning.
The smiling rogue looks about as the agents close in on him. He spins to see Eloriand rushing to his location. He attemps to use Eloriand's momentem to spin away from teh rushing ranger, but he misjudges his step, exposing himself to an attack by Eloriand!
Izzy, I assumed you meant to take a 5 foot step back before firing the bow as to avoid an AOO by the attacker. Eloriand, not sure what weapon you have drawn, bur you may make a free AOO against the attacker has he attempts to run pass you. If you have your bow drawn, you may attempt an imporvised weapon strike using your bow OR an unarmed strike. Be warned that either such attack would draw an AOO. If your blade is drawn, then you may take a free swipe at him. We'll resolve El's AOO then finish the villan's round, then Caoilte, then back to top.
AC: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Kat C'ys |
Kat will move downstairs and slip behind Izzy before taking a shot, aiming at disabling or hindering his movements If possible, making sure her aim is clear.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 4 = 16 +5 AB -4 for shooting into melee, not including soft cover as the intent is to be able to clearly shoot between Izzy and Hav
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1 Just in case it actually hits.
Tarek Delrin |
I am little confused by turn order. If Isador shouted for help before Tarek moved into the corner room then Tarek would move down to aid him. If Tarek was able to move into the room before hearing a shout, he will look out the window to survey the situation
GM Brew |
I believe we are at Caoilte's action in the order. The smiling man attacked and Havelock has taken his action to move to the area. El gets to resolve his Attack of Opportunity, then the assailant resolved the rest of his actions, then Caoile gets to act, then we are at the top of the order. Things are getting hard to track due to the guy's hit and run tactics, but tha'ts how I see things currently.
Tarek Delrin |
OK. I just did not want to be posting too many actions if it was not Tarek's turn to act or post something that was out of sync with what everyone else was doing. You can move Tarek back to his location outside the door if he was unable to move on his last turn.
Eloriand Miller |
Eloriand has his blade out.
Eloriand approaches the front of the house at a run and sees several people there. Suddenly one of them bolts past him and he can see it is the person they are looking for. Eloriand swings as the man rushes by.

Eloraind slashes the running miscreant, gouging a wound into the man's thigh as he runs past. Limping, the knife wielding foe and turns the corner heading west around the house. Seeing Caolte's limbering form ahead of him, he curses and dives through an open window, back into the house.
Top of the order to ya!
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek wantches from the window as the Chelaxian eludes the Archons once more. With Chakram in hand, he moves into the hall and then down the stairway. He checks his Wayfinder frequently for any change in direction.
I am assuming the Chelaxian jumping through the window made some noise downstairs and alerted Tarek to the intruders presence. Tarek can do a 20 foot move and reach the bottom of the stairs. He will move an additional 20 feet to locate the Chelaxian unless he is visible from the stairway and can be attacked. Tarek's move will also be dictated by what the Archons do before his action is taken.
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek shouts into the darkness Hey Smiley, when is your girlfriend going to show so we can really get this party started? We are growing tired of this foreplay and it is time to get to the action. Then again, you seem like the kind of man who is all about the talk but little substance.
GM Brew |
The Archons scramble to corner their elusive foe. Havelock rushes inside the house in an attempt to head off the assailant. Other agents block the front door and crowd the street. Havelock catches a glimpse of the scoundrel, he look at Havelock with a sneer and darts across the room, jumping out of the open window and back out into the streets. With a mischievous grin, he flails his hands in the air and begins to scream at the top of his lungs Help! Help! By the gods help me! The Pathfinders are here to murder me!! Oh gods, oh goods, please somebody save me from these demon worshippers! The have set themselves to steal my soul! Help!!!!
As the groups attention is drawn by the screaming man, the quickly gather around the west side of the house, just in time to see a very large group of townsfolk, all of whom are carrying torches, pitchforks and other sharp instruments, coming toward the House. The man runs straight for them. As they get closer, the group can make out the features of Sheriff Luin and Erika at the head of the the throng. The man runs straight toward Erika. [b]Oh thank all that is Holy and Just! The inheritor has sent me a protector! You are indeed my savior. Those Pathfinders! He dramatically points in the Archons' direction They are nothing but a cabal of demon worshippers! I saw them murder a man in cold blood last night, that one! He points forcefully to Havelock I was too frightened to come forward, but they found me. They mean to kill me so they can continue their wicked way! Please Erika, give me justice!
Erika's eyes narrow as she glares at the agents, she is barely able to contain her rage as she turns to Luin. See! I told you there was trouble afoot tonight. Thank the guiding voice of Iomede we arrived in time. You heard what was levied, Sheriff. Arrest them immediately!! She stands before the sheriff in righteous fury.
The halfling mayor and sheriff rubs his and on his chin and eyes the group of Pathfinder agents. He gives the man who had just accused the agents of evil a long searching look, then turns to the Pathfinders. Now hold on Erika, something about this is not right. I have been keeping my eyes on these folk, and they don't strike me as the demon worshipping type. I will hear what they have to say on the matter before I do anything. First, nodding his head toward the smiling man tell me what happened, slowly and in detail.
The smiling man abides and weaves a fantastic story of how they Archons sought out his residence and tried to murder him in his sleep. He goes on to say that they used strange magics and it was only by jumping out of a nearby window that he was able to escape. Luin nods and places his hands on his hips. Alright then, what about it folks. You try to kill this man? The sheriff awaits the party's response.
Out of combat, party may now address Luin, Erika or anyone else. The party senses this may be a good time to relate the results of their investigation.
Havelockk |
Mayor, Sherif, by Aroden and Iomedae none of my friends and I are murderers as this man claims to be.
The man here that claims to an innocent bystander has attacked myself and my my friend Tarek.
I am soldier, a legionary, and all the scars on my body are from war.
I am the first in battle and the last to leave it and I have learned the weight of my sword. Without my heart to guide it, it is worthless-my strength is not in my sword, but in my heart. If I lose my sword, I have lost a tool. If I betray my heart, than I have died.
I do not lurk in the shadows to cowardly strike out.
I may not be the most personable man you have met, but I do have honor and believe in the sanctity of life. Erika, if I speak falsely may Saint Lymirin herself strike me down where I stand, but you will see I do not lie. Search your feelings, you know this to be true.
I keep my blade out, not wishing to discharge the arcane energies in it.
Tarek, you can explain better than I in all that we have done.
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek approaches the mob and attaches his Chakram to his belt. His gaze passes over the group of angry people as Havelockk speaks and the rest of the group gathers around. He begins to speak once Havelockk is finished Your town has befallen great treachery but it is not by our hands.
Tarek then looks to Erika It seems we are all filled with mistrust. I felt certain that you were in league with this individual who has made these claims againsts us. It is odd that you all just happened to gather at this out of way home, a home that has evidently not been used for some time Tarek gives a quick glance and the accuser and then continues to speak to the angry mob
Our presence was requested when we received a note detailing that someone was being held captive. We knew it was a setup, but we decided to investigate. Havelockk and I made an effort to find Mayor Luin to report our situation. His guards can corroborate our visit and our request to seek an audience. These are not actions of men about to commit a crime.
Tarek then produces the parchment that they received The writing on this letter matches the writing on the letter that Erika produced, accusing the Pathfinders of the crimes they are being detained. Tarek hands the the parchment to the Mayor and looks him in the eye as he does so If you speak to one of your shop keepers, I am certain he will be able to identify our accuser as the one who had committed murder. I do not wish to speak his name but we can go to his home and get his testimony. If there are more in this plot to cause havoc in this town then I do not wish to bring harm to any citizen by speaking aloud a name. We also found a button, that is of high quality, at the location of one of the murders. We can compare it to those on the clothing of our accuser and see if there is a match. If there is a match then it will place him at the scene of another grisly death.
Tarek then turns back to the crowd We came to this town to find the truth behind the murders not to free the captives or to cause harm while we are here. If what we have provided is not proof enough then I have another way of identifying the true evil in this crowd.
Tarek then looks to the Mayor We have provided you evidence that can not be ignored. Is it enough or do you need more?
GM Brew |
The Mayor listens to TArek's words and nods as he lookst to Erika. The zealous servant of Iomede face appears steadfast, but she says nothing for the moment. Kat sees he smiling man removes something from his pocket, a small vial, and downs its contents as the crowd and agents are engaged. Mayor Luin asks to inspect the button mentioned by Tarek and sends a man to fetch Orung from the store. In a few moments, Orug is brought to the scene and relates the same testimony given to the agents earlier. Luin's brow furrows and Erika looks down to the floor, back and forth as if confused.
Tarek, make two more Diplomacy checks, one with a +1 bonus and another with a +2 check. I will also allow one additional check with no bonus if Tarek relates some of the rumors the agents were able to verify or debunk. All checks will also use Tarek's normal skill bonus for Diplomacy. Everyone else may make one Diplomacy check with normal skill bonus to aid Tarek's arguments.
Kat C'ys |
Kat nudges Tarek and speaks almost too softly to be heard.
Smiley just took a potion. Most likely something that can hide his aura. Also, don't forget that El only found human sized tracks at the site of the hanging tree.
Did Kat see what he did with the vial when he was done with it? If so she would have relayed it as well.

Tarek Delrin |
Tarek looks to the crowd and continues to unfold the evidence discovered I spoke with the imprisoned about why they came to Dawnton. It seems they received word that a Sarkoran site had been discovered outside of town and they were here to investigate for archaeological reasons. During our investigation, we have heard no rumor of this place that holds such an historical significance to this region. If such a site existed then surely it would be the buzz about town?
It is my belief that the imprisoned pathfinders were lured here by this false claim and were incriminated. Has anyone asked why 3 guilty individuals would not fight back or attempt an escape? Did anyone come forward and say they saw the three commit any wrong doing? All we have are notes that could have been written by anyone. Two notes that we have just proved to be written by the same person and one of which makes false claims that can be proven by looking at the building beside us.
The three individuals that were imprisoned are of a shorter stature than most and Orug just claimed that the man he saw committing a murder was tall. How could these three possibly be involved in that death?
We also uncovered human sized tracks at Otto's farm traveling from the town to the farm. There were not 3 sets of tracks, only one. Do any of the imprisoned seem to have the strength or the stature to kill and skin a man and string this person from a tree?
What we have are several horrific deaths and a town of people angered and frightened for their safety. Nobody can provide concrete evidence that the three individuals imprisoned are the ones responsible for the deaths of your kinsfolk. Even with their imprisonment, the murders have continued. This can only mean that the murderer is still among us.
What we do have is a man fitting the description that Orug has given us. A man capable of hanging someone from a tree. Someone who was not imprisoned, has no alibi and could have murdered the two people from earlier this night.
Tarek then points in the direction of the smiling man Imprison this man and the murders will most certainly stop!
I hope that was all the evidence that we gathered and could debunk
Diplomacy 2: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 10 + 2 = 25

You should all search your feelings. I am sure there are methods that can by arcane or divine ways detect can detect the presence of true evil as well lies and deceit. I fear not these tests.
Many good, innocent people have died in recent days. Let us not add to that number with those accused of crimes that they seem physically incapable of committing.
The beauty of truth is that it never changes
Caoilte |
Caoilte stands fully erect thumbing the edge of his axe. Well Sheriff, I gotta tell ya, If I was trying to kill this man only half of him would be talking to you now. I think if you put the screws to him you'll find the true murderer of your good townsfolk.
GM Brew |
Tarek lays out the case, sensing that this is the watershed moment. Either the Archons will succeed and convince the townsfolk, and particularly Erika, that in their zeal for justice they have rushed to judgment and accused innocent people or they will fail and suffer the consequence.
Sheriff Luin listens to Tarek’s arguments attentively, even going so far as to produce a notebook and jot down notes as he listens to the results of the agents’ investigation. As Tarek speaks, aided by the rest of the party, Luin occasionally looks to the smiling accuser and Erika. When Tarek concludes his statements, the mayor sigh audibly and his features take on a hardened look. The short lawman’s gaze drops to the floor as he gently shakes his head in near disbelief as he speaks loud enough to be heard but with determined purpose.
I have had my doubts about those folk I have trapped in my basement, but I will be thrice damned if I let this go any further. These strangers have more sense than the lot of ya put together. Those Pathfinders are no more guilty of anything than these folk here. By the power vested in me as Mayor of this town, I declare these folks, and their friends, innocent of all charges. You he points firmly at the smiling man What’s your name? Krune? I don’t believe you one wit! And I’d like to get a look at that coat. That fella with the axe may have a point. He nods toward a few of the guards who take a few cautious steps toward the man now known as Krune.
Erika, strangely silent, takes a step toward Luin, the guards, and Krune. Initially, she makes a motion as if to draw her weapon, but there is a clear hesitation in her movements. Kat notices that the devout Iomedean inquisitor has tears in her eyes and her jaw is clenched so tightly that she fears the woman’s jaw might shatter. Luin takes a careful step to her and reaches toward Erika’s had that lies shakily on the hilt of her weapon. Luin lays a gentle hand on hers.
The mayor speaks softly to the inquisitor but loud enough so the Archons may hear him. Listen to them Erika, their logic is plain as the light you claim to follow. They are innocent, servant of the Inheritor. Deep down, I know you understand that.
Erika’s hand falls from her weapon and she openly begins to weep. This cannot be! The voice of Iomede is infallible! She would not deceive me. I am her voice, her prophet. It cannot all be a lie! She takes a step away from Luin and addresses the Archons directly. I know it was Pathfinders that set the demons upon Nerosyan! Every time your ilk is involved, the demons follow! I… The devout follower of the light closes her eyes tightly as tears stream down her face. The agents see her give something up, deep in her core, and her body loosens noticeably. But you are right Luin. They are right. I know not how I became blind, but I surely have, but not so much so that I no longer recognize the light when it is before me. Your judgement is sound, and I have been shown the truth. I accept the verdict, though I know not what that means for me. Erika’s head falls forward and her expression betrays that her mind, body and soul have experienced something traumatic. Tarek and Havelock, as members of the Silver Crusade, make a note to perhaps speak to her later regarding her faith.
Luin’s guards make another move toward Krune. The killer unleashes another diabolical grin when, without warning, he lunges toward Tarek, dagger drawn and attempts to bury it in the wise holy man. Oh no! I am not done having fun just yet...Pathfinder! The villain lunges, but once again Tarek's armor absorbs the blow.
Krune’s actions send the crowd into a frenzy. Luin, his guards, and Erika all scramble to try and keep the peace as the crowd yells and screams. The party is left a small pocket to face down Krune.

Summary: Humanoid creature doubles in size.
This spell causes instant growth of a humanoid creature, doubling its height and multiplying its weight by 8. This increase changes the creature's size category to the next larger one. The target gains a +2 size bonus to Strength, a –2 size penalty to Dexterity (to a minimum of 1), and a –1 penalty on attack rolls and AC due to its increased size.
A humanoid creature whose size increases to Large has a space of 10 feet and a natural reach of 10 feet. This spell does not change the target's speed.
If insufficient room is available for the desired growth, the creature attains the maximum possible size and may make a Strength check (using its increased Strength) to burst any enclosures in the process. If it fails, it is constrained without harm by the materials enclosing it—the spell cannot be used to crush a creature by increasing its size.
All equipment worn or carried by a creature is similarly enlarged by the spell. Melee weapons affected by this spell deal more damage (see Table: Tiny and Large Weapon Damage). Other magical properties are not affected by this spell. Any enlarged item that leaves an enlarged creature's possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown and projectile weapons deal their normal damage. Magical properties of enlarged items are not increased by this spell.
Multiple magical effects that increase size do not stack.
Enlarge person counters and dispels reduce person.
Enlarge person can be made permanent with a permanency spell.
