Kat C'ys |
Tamping down on her raging curiosity that is trying to demand her to sit down and start reading, Kat slips back out into the circus ring and quietly shuts the sanctuary door with a small shake of her head at Izzy.
If she has time this round... otherwise this will be for the round after
After she returns to the room the red plucks the crop out of Caoilte's hand with a saucy wink. No offense, but I might have better luck with this thing. And with a seemingly practiced snap of her wrist she sends the silver-tipped leather cracking over where she feels the imp's flank would be.
Attack: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Havelockk |
Son of a witch that stings!! Hey!! how about a little help here!!
FORT Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Kat...getting a little concerned with the saucy way you handle that whip.
I wince and grin
GM Brew |
Once the little bugger pops into view to sting Havelock, Sylorin seizes the moment to balst the imp with another round of lightning. The imp shudders as the electrical energies arc through its small body, teeth chattering with a stuttering groan escaping its lips. After the divine electric energy dissipates, the imp slouches on the ground, smoke steaming off its defeated form.
As Kat, with uncanny skill, readies a swing to give the small fiend a hearty swat with the riding crop, the imp holds up his hand.
Yes, you’ve bested me, but I don’t wish to leave so soon. Take the blasted box, and tell Mistress Dralneen I deserve what comes my way.
The imp pathetically flies, with its head held low, over to the bed and sits on the corner to await whatever punishment the Paracountess will undoubtedly mete out. Havelock, meanwhile, is able to shrug off the poison the imp injected into his system.
Havelockk |
I place my hand in the hot swelling sting from the little hellion, by Aroden I can feel some vile substance on my skin. My eyes hone in in the thing with a murderous look hoping that Kat would give it a few saucy licks of that whip. I pick up the box and with my eyes not breaking contact with the beast I flatly tell it.
Aye, you deserve what you get and perhaps even more.
In Draconic I utter:
te futui, Gaudeo looking right at it, I spit on the ground for emphasis.
Anger focused and hot like rolled steel on a forge I head out to the paracountress, I smirk as I look to Kat to see if her or anyone else understood the ancient tongue.
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek untangles himself from the tattered sheets as he witnesses the defeat of the imp
Well done Sylorin! Your abilities have proven quite useful on this mission. I am sure the Captain will be pleased with your performance today and I will be sure to put in a good word for you as well. I am certain he was looking for you to spread a little more love, but in this room a few zaps of lighting may be just what the countess is missing in her den of pleasure
Tarek looks at the throbbing sore beginning to form on Havelockk's neck That looks like a nasty sting. Do you need any aid or will you be alright until we get back to the lodge?
As everyone begins to file out of the bed chamber, Tarek will grab his hammer from the floor.
He examines the weapon and frownsYou have failed me too many times. It may be time to trade you in on something more reliable.
Isador Kane |
Isador sighs after witnessing the strange events that just unfolded.
This one will make for an interesting story back at the Paunch. I can't wait to get back to our normal lives.
He then follows Havelockk back to the Para-countess's room.
Havelockk |
Izzy, I agree. IN time everything becomes funny. Grinning I look over to Tarek and nod. I think it can wait till we get to the lodge. I would hate to use any divine energies that might best be needed for others until we get back. The Imp has a sting worse than any wasp sting I ever got...more like a camel spider
Eloriand Miller |
Eloriand maintaining his fairly silent behavior feels a little dumbstruck at what has transpired this day in the city. He always perceived the city as a strange place and was always grateful for his life in the outskirts near the woods. He may need to spend an entire week in the woods just to cleanse himself of the unnatural experience of the day.
Caoilte |
If we’ve gotten what we’ve come for can we get the hell out of here? This place bugs me, the finery the pervert stuff, not to mention the thing over there in the bed. I’ve never fought anything that couldn’t be harmed by steel. Caoilte looks around a bit seeming rushed. Door’s this way, right?
Havelockk |
Yes I do think the door is right where we left it...so lets finish this up shall we and collect our reward...or whatever it is we are getting out of this...you now..I heard some folks were really into this kinda stuff, but I had no idea it was more than just loose talk...
I walk on out with the box in hand.
GM Brew |
The party, a tad on edge after the encounter in Zarta's bedroom, leave her townhouse eager to return to Captain Vaslin and complete their assigned tasks for the day. As they make their way back towards the Grand Lodge, they pass through the Foreign Quarter. A throng of people blocks the street ahead. A performance art group commandeers the street, drawing graffiti to create a jolly hellscape complete with illusory devils comically dancing around in circles. A few citizens avoiding the crowd slip off-street through a nearby alley, the only egress past the gathering.
As the group attempts to avoid the throng by moving through the alley, Caoilte hears a sharp whistle. When the party looks forward they see a large solid mist form roughly 20 feet in front of them. Before most of the party can react, several shapes rush forth and attack the party! A masked red haired woman comes screaming out of the mist rushing toward Caoilte along with an angry looking halfling with a blond handlebar mustache and a large axe and a thin wispy man with a rapier. The three spread out before Caoilte, who finds himself somehow flanked, but the thin man's rapier and little man's axe miss Caoilte wildly. From within the mist, a stream of green boiling liquid streaks over Havelock's head and hits Tarek squarely on the chest, causing a bubbling burning wound that does significant damage to Tarek.
Kat and Isador recognize a few of the attackers as the persons who have been following them all day. They are able to take action before the party recovers.

- Wispy Rapier
- Crazy Masked redhead
- Havelock
- Elorian
- Isador
- Caoilte
- Kat
- Mist attacker
- Sylorin
- Mustacchio
- Tarek
Isador and Kat can take an action in the surprise round. Tarek takes 6 acid damage, leaving him with 2 hp. After Kat and Izzy act, two bad guys then the party may act in order.

Havelockk |
Eyes focus as I look and wonder what has Caoilte done to draw the attention of all all three...hopefully the mustachio fellow has left his guard and his flank to me.
I reach in and pull from my arcane pool...while gripping my long blade with both hands preparing to strike.
Havelock has 13 HP at fully healed, and should be at 10 from the last encounter if he took 3 damage and was not healed
Kat C'ys |
Kat tries to find high ground without drawing attention to herself. Her first choice is to try and quit to the roof during the kerfluffle around Caoilte; if that is not possible then she will back up a few feet and try to remain as obscured to the attackers as possible while going after the cleanest shot.
Yes, that last one is a completely made up word. Behold the powa of linguistics!

Having great respect for axes and very little for Halflings, Caoilte opts for making the fight easier by a third and attacks the Halfling. When I’m done with the twerp I’m going to split you other two in half

Eloriand Miller |
Eloriand quickly readies his bow and hops up on the crate next to him by the wall to get a better shot at the attackers. The red haired woman appears to be the easiest target given her position in relation to Eloriand's companions and he loses his arrow.
The crate hop is more for dramatic affect than anything. It is in the same square as Eloriand and should not count as a five step I wouldn't think. Eloriand has at least a +1 attack modifier, so he could ready his bow as a free action and move if needed.
CLB Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 (+2 against human)
CLB Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 (+2 against human)
GM Brew |
Isador and Kat spring to action as the party is ambushed. Isador unslings his bow and snaps off a shot at the crazed masked red haired woman. His aim is spot on, but the arrow bounces off her breastplate as if it had struck stone. Kat takes a step back and targets her evil red doppelgänger, but her arrow has a similar action. The battle continues in earnest.
The thin man thrusts his rapier once again at Coilte, but the attack barely scratches Caoilte's armor.
The masked woman waves a vapory hand but is anble to trigger whatever effect she was attempting. She also swings at Caoilte but her attack misses badly.
Havelock joins the fray cutting the halfling low with a viscous cut causing a gash to open on his left side. Havelock reels and follows his attack up with a burst of arcane energy that slams into the little mustache with great violence. The halfling is damaged but still stands, roaring his displeaure.
Eloriand gets to higher ground and launches an arrow at the crazed masked woman. His arrow strikes true, embedding deeply into the woman's shoulder causing her to cry out in pain.
Isador tries to finish the masked woman, but misses his shot.
Caoilte takes a swing at the beleaguered halfling but misses high.
Kat fires another shot at her red nemesis but misses the shot wide.
Another arc of green boling liquid streams forth from the mist, this time squarely aimed at Eloriand. The jet misses him barely leaving a steaming puddle hissing at his feet.
Sylorian takes a swing at the halfling but misses him.
The halfing screams in an uncontrolled rage and takes another swing at Caoilte. He connects solidly with Caoilte's shin leaving a deep cut.
Tarek shrugs off the acid attack as if it were a cool shower. He calls upon his divine power in an attempt to level the playing field. He speaks powerful words to the enraged halfling who seemingly ignores the spells effects.
End of round 1. Caoilte takes 6 damage from the halflings axe. Round 2 starts with 2 of the attackers.
The thin man presses the attack on Caoilte, and scores a touch just under his arm. Caoilte can tell that if it was just a hair to the left, he would have been likely run through. Even so, the piercing blade cuts deep, leaving a bleeding puncture wound.
The crazed red takes a five foot step and begins to wave her arms in a casting manner. Light shoots forth from her fingers and engulfs her in a shimmering cascade and then dissipates.
Caoilte takes another 6 damage and is at 4 hp. Party is up.

Totally right on the acid damage. I completely forgot about your aasimar acid resistance. Damage is reduced to 1.
Check your pluses. I did not see you imbue sword with arcane pool. Without the enhancement, I show your attack bonuses to be +3 to hit and +2 to damage. Those go to +4 and +3 if you enhance the blade. It did not matter on this attack, just want to make sure I am reading it right.
Kat C'ys |
Kat's primary concern is to find the higher ground for a cleaner shot while minimizing the LoS she presents. She will also focus her attack on whichever one is the primary target so long as she has a decent shot; if she does not have a good LoS then she will target the one she has the best LoS for.

Tarek's expression turns to annoyance as the acid splashes against his armor and he winces as the liquid mildly burns his skin. You will pay for that, I just purchased this armor!
He then hears Caoilte's shouts for assistance and he sees the trio surrounding him I am making my way to you. Do your best to hold your ground

I am not sure if Tarek is close enough to Caoilte to heal him first and then move but his goal is to heal him and take a position to his left to help take on Mr Mustachio on the left while Sylorin and Havelockk take on mini stache to the right

I feel the blade bite into the hobbit want to be, my eyes locking with his for moment as I snap ring and pinky fingers on the boxwood grip, causing the blade to pick up addional speed before raising my left hand up and point at the man with the rapier whom is currently attempting to give my frater Caoilte additional and unrequited ventilation holes.
While not the most powerful Spell in my limited inventory, one I hope that will do the right thing as I release a ball of super bright light and energy at the man's face attempting to Daze him.

fear should have had a similar effect as Havelockk's daze. If the hafling is not immune to fear then he should have been shaken for 1 round even if he made a save. I am not sure what round those effects would take place since Tarek was last to act
Wicked Brew |
The battle rages on!
Havelock twists his blade and drives into the raving halfing, sticking him deep in the upper chest. Havelock frees the blade from the mustacchio, then flicks his hand into the little man's face letting loose a bright burst of light. The halfling falls to the ground, motionless and bleeding from the deep wound.
Eloriand lets loose another arrow and the red haired mask, having a much clearer shot now that she had backed away from the fight. He lands a shot into her thigh and she topples in a heap.
Isador lines up a shot on the masked woman, but brings his bow to bear on the thin man when the masked woman falls. He lets loose but misses the rushed target.
Caoilte, hurting badly from his wounds, takes a swing at the remaining attacker but misses.
Kat nimbly climbs one of the nearby walls and gets herself atop one of the northern buildings. She deftly glides across the roof and sets herself up to flank the thin man.
A comely yet wicked looking woman emerges calmly from the mist. She walks up behind the thin man and, almost using the thin man as a shield, lets loose a cone of an array of dazzling colors. Caoilte, Eloriand, Havelock and Tarek are caught inside the evil rainbow! Caoilte and Eloriand's eyes flutter and they both fall with a smack, unconscious. The thin man keels over as well, caught in the sepll.
Sylorin steps up and attacks the now exposed caster! He connects dealing her a considerable blow!
Tarek, seeing Caoilte down and near death, decides to heal his comrade in case the spell slinger starts dealing out accidental collateral damage. He pours positive divine energy into the fallen axeman.
Caoilte and Eloriand are out for three rounds. Tarek heals 7 damage to Caoilte. On to round 3!

Watch. Thanks to my low line in the order it'll be over before I can pull the coup de grois.
If the caster goes down before her turn, is it possible to turn her damage against the unconscious man into non-lethal damage? Since he's out cold (rendering him non-resistant), she would prefer to capture for interrogation than straight out kill him. If that makes sense.
Havelockk |
Satisfied with my work of the day so far, especially after feeling my blade slice through chest cavity of the halfling and doing the proper reflexive twist pulling my blade out, I barely register the groan and sigh that not only comes from his lips, but from the collapse of his lung as air rushes in bright red bubbles from his chest, peculating up and out like boiling mud near a active volcano.
I step up and swing at the offending and yet attractive female caster, a shame that such an attractive woman, because of her actions have doomed her. My blade comes in fast and low at her abdominal region with both of my hands on the grip.

Tarek quickly examines Caoilte upon healing him. Once he feels confident that the spell attack has not endangered the life of his fellow pathfinder he then turns his attention to the caster.
Tarek hears the attacks upon the female caster and he begins making his way into the fray. If the caster has not fallen then he will attack. If she is dropped then he will turn his attention to the mustached attacker and attempt to bind him and stabilize his wounds so he can be questioned.

Since Tarek does not have a shield then he will be attacking with two hands on hammer for additional damage if it is applicaple.
GM Brew |
Havelock swings and misses the cackling woman. She eyes Havelock with a wicked grin and begins to make as if she is about to unleash her power. Before she is able to act, though, Havelock sees an arrow plunge through her neck. The woman's cackles are cut off into a gurgling choke as the casters eyes roll inter her head. Havelock is hit with pulsating spattering arterial blood and the sorcerer goes quiet and falls over, stone dead. Havelock looks up to the source of the arrow to see Kat standing on a rooftoop, wind blowing her long red locks as she stares down at her handiwork.
The party searches the downed combatants. The thin man and masked woman are found to be unconscious. The mustached halfing is still alive but is dying. The woman from the mist is quite dead. Various items of vaule are found on the bodies that the group decides will be cataloged later.
Havelockk |
Well this is a rightful mess. I am not sure what the city guard will say about this, but I think it best we get moving to the Lodge. As much as I would love to put these miserable curs out of their existence and free them from their mortal coils, it might be best to bind and gag them and haul them with us.
As I look at my friends, I hurridly wipe my blade clean on the tattered clothes of the dead sorcerer and wipe my own face clean, if need be from sweat and her blood with my neck scarf also know as a focale.
C'mon, I think its time we really should be going. If anyone is still a bit too weak, I do have a potion that can heal wounds...it cost me some coin, but I don't mind sharing it for the could of the group
Isador Kane |
Isador releases the tension in his bowstring upon seeing the arrow find its mark and laying the sorcerer low. He quickly traces the flight path back to its source but he knew it was Kat after watching the precise shot drive home.
Well Done Kat! even though he is sure that she could not hear him. He gives her a quick nod and slight bow in respect of the shot.
Leave these for the guard.. if they survive the day, the Society can send someone to investigate them further.
I think we should get back as soon as possible to complete this mission; I for one grow quite weary of it
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek examines the carnage and then back to Caoilte and Eloriand. It may take a few more moments for the effect of the caster's spell to wear off. As soon as our friends are back on their feet then I agree we should head back to see the Captain. I do not know who sent these attackers and what they hoped to gain by attacking us, but the gods were not favoring them on this day
Tarek then shoots a look to Kat Your arrow found it's mark and it may have saved us all. Who knows what that sorceress was about to unleash upon us next. I will be sure to buy you a round the next time we are at the Paunch Tarek gives a quick smile and a nod in her direction.
Tarek then moves to the halfling. He makes sure that he is tightly bound and then uses stabilize to prevent him from dying. A dead man tells no tales and this one may be worth questioning later. Enough blood has been shed today. The gods have granted us victory and we should in turn bestow mercy when possible
Havelockk |
Kat, great shooting once again. Tarek and Sy, glad you guys are here and got my back in case I get clobbered like Caoilte. El and Izzy, great work as always brothers. Caoilte, thanks for being such a great meat shield for me. I would love to tell you that I hope I can return the favor, but that might be a lie, so instead I will tell you I hope to be able to save you from being a meat shield next time.
Izzy, I agree with you to a point, but we need to haul as many of them with us. We need to know who they work for and why they were sent after us. These people could be real enemies and I would prefer to ~not~have to fight them again and get as much information out of them as possible. I can easily haul the woman or the halfling, and with their wounds once we get out or off this street we can grab a wagon or something and tell anyone we meet that we are aiding them and taking them to the lodge for further medical treatment, which is not a lie. We do need to act now. If we let them wait here, gods know what false story they could make up on us, and what fate might bestow them. The courts might hang them, or whomever they are working for might have them killed before they can speak to anyone from the society.
Making sure that my blades, to include that nice one the paracountress gave me are secured, I walk over to the wounded masked woman and bending down with my legs and ~not back~ flop her over my shoulder in what will I am sure be called the "fireman's carry" in some distant, future or multi dimensional world.
see...light as a feather...now lets move.
I move out with the woman draped over my shoulder, moving at a slightly slower pace until I can confirm my friends are close by while my eyes look for a empty wagon, taxi/rimshaw, or some other form of taxi service that we might be able to use to haul our new found unconscious friends.
Kat C'ys |
We need to be damned sure we are aware when this guy, she places a booted foot on the shoulder of the arm the unconscious man wielded his rapier with, wakes up because he is down just because he was caught in the same magic that took out Caoilte and Eloriand. He may very well have more tricks up his sleeves that we did not find.
Not to mention that there is no way we are going to be able to carry out those three and Caoilte and El...
Tarek Delrin |
Tarek blinks with a look of confusion and shock as he watches Havelockk scoop up the beaten and bloodied woman, sling her over his shoulder and then head in the direction of the crowded street.
Tarek then turns to the rest of the group to judge their actions Are we really taking the bodies rather than let the guards deal with this mess? If so, there is no way I am parading around town with a corpse. Maybe we just get them healed enough that they can walk on their own? I have one more heal available if everyone thinks it is a good idea.
