Ark is correct. The new Guide to Organized Play has been released detailing the changes to PFS for the upcoming season. Check it out when you have the time. Here is a brief rundown of changes for Season 6:

  • Removed aasimar and tielfing as legal race choices. Added kitsune, nagaji, and wayang as legal choices.
  • The nation-based factions have transitioned to ideal-based factions. These new factions borrow some traits from past factions and introduce several new traits. Those who already have faction traits no longer appearing in the Guide to Organized Play keep those traits, but they are no longer available as options for new characters.
  • If you are currently playing in a online game (PbP, VTT, etc..), you may finish the game with your character in its current faction. After the game is complete, you should immediately transition to one of the newer factions, with the exception of Grand Lodge and Silver Crusade.

  • Updated the faction goals for season six.

  • Added a new section in Chapter Five for special rules pertaining to Season 6, including information about time-worn technology and glitches.

  • Updated the shirts available for free rerolls, including the new ones that go on sale at Gen Con.

  • Updated the art throughout to reflect the theme of season six.

Also, many of you will be leveling up for the first time once this scenario is complete (if you earn the xp of course). Once you play the character at level 2, it is locked. So, all of you may still completely rework any aspect of your character after this scenario. If any of you want to make a chance to your sheet for free, you will need to do so prior to the next game. Just let me know what changes any of you want to make and I will note it on this sessions chronicle sheet.

As far as factions, Ark is right. Grand Lodge is unaffected as is Silver Crusade. Cheliax converts to dark archive, Andoran to Liberty's Edge, Taldor to Sovereign Court, Osirion to Sapphire Sages and Qadira and Szarni to The Exchange. We will finish this scenario under the old factions but all of your characters must have a legal faction going forward.

Lots of changes I know, hit me up here or on PMs if you have any questions.

Thanks for the run down Brew.

Hey, starting tomorrow afternoon, I will have limited opportunity to post until next Friday. Please do not hold any part of the story on my account.. I am sure Isador's actions are pretty predictable so please feel free to keep the story moving.

Silver Crusade

Izzy,
no worries we got you covered.

Silver Crusade

Male Half-Elf Sorcerer/1 Arcane-Sage Bloodline

I am reviewing the new advanced player guide and it has a lot of Dex based characters, some I think Kat might be interested in. A lot of ways to play a rogue like character...although I tend to be a purist with the Core classes.

Yeah, I tend to stay pureclass when it comes to roguery... If we could get double the max levels, that might be a different story. But there's dreams and then there's pipedreams.

Silver Crusade

I would check them out. I was not much of a believe and then I said its only 9 bucks on PDF.

Recreational reading in a grad program is oh so much like cinnamon rolls when on a diet.

Are any of the craft skills worth taking? It seems Paizo has made it that it costs the same to craft anything as it does to buy it.

I also noticed it with spell enhancements too. Making holy water or a masterwork item costs the same as buying one.

Are the advantages when it comes to making higher level items that are not available for purchase?

I was just curious if anyone has considered any of the crafting abilities?

The Advanced Class Guide is pretty good. I enjoy reading about all the new classes and archetypes and had a few character ideas sparked by the new stuff. As far as crafting, generally the cost of crafting an item is half of the item's value. In PFS, however, all crafting skills are banned for balance reasons.

Say,
I might be the last guy to know this, but does anyone else realize that there is a FREE to play Neverwinter MMO?

Yeah it went free to play (instead of purchase to play) not too long after it went live. It's pretty fun but I haven't played it in forever and a day.

Yessir. Been out for a few years now. They just had a major update with Tyranny of Dragons coming out. It uses a version of 4.0 rules. Fun in a fairly mindless way. I was on the other night for kicks and giggles.

Alright. Great job folks, we are through another scenario. Now many of you will be hitting level two once you apply the chronicle sheet for this scenario. I just want to remind everyone that your characters are locked once you play it at level two. That means that you can still rework any aspect of your character but need to do that now. For that reason, I will hold off on issuing the chronicle sheets until I hear from you that you are good to go. Please post any changes to your character on this forum. If you have no changes, also indicate that on this forum. Once you post your character status, I will make any requested changes and issue the chronicle.

Sylorin, this will be your first chronicle. The process is explained in the Guide to Organized Play. Let me know if you have any questions.

I will post the chronicle sheets on my drop box once they are complete. You will be able to download them from there.

Now, for the next scenarios. Initially, I wanted to give Roll20 a spin for a live session. I intended to run a second Confirmation to give Sylorian and Tarek a chance to catch up to the party and give the rest of you to take an alt character for a spin. Unfortunately, my work and family commitments make that impossible to schedule right now. I would still like to give Roll20 a try in the near future with my "big goal" to possibly set up a regular game to run one of the Adventure Paths in PFS "campaign mode". But that is a ways off yet. My compromise to move the game forward, therefore, is twofold. First, I will continue the current arc with our next scenario, The Glass River Rescue. Once characters are locked and chronicles posted I will fire up the next thread. Now, in an attempt to catch up both Tarek and Sylorin, I am also planning to run a parallel pbp scenario, We Be Goblins! For those of you not familiar, We Be Goblins is a Tier 1-2 scenario in which the players take on the roles of, you guessed it, goblins! After the scenario, you get a chronicle that may be assigned to any PFS character that you have. As a reminder, Tier 1-2 scenarios can be played multiple times and each time you may apply the sheet to a different level 1 character or a level 2 character ONCE. The one drawback in that the scenario is designed, and only provides, 4 goblin characters. That being said, I will offer the game to both Tarek and Sylorin and offer the two open slots to the party at large. If I have more than two takers, I will select the slots at random. This may be a bit ambitious, but I am willing to give it a shot. Please let me know if this sounds ok with you guys (and gal).

In the meantime, keep your eyes on your PMs and feel free to head on over to Obsidian and RP in the Pig's Paunch.

Brew, great one and this one was a great challenge because not all the solutions were kinetic . I really had to work on how I write and articulate things, which is a very good thing considering where I am at this year at AWC.

I am going with the assumption that we will each be minimally getting one XP and one PP perhaps?

I am going to reread a few things on the Magus Class. I like it alot, but if the groups feels we need a dedicated sorcerer/wizard please let me know as I could transition Have into that and I do have a game day boon from Paizo that I could use if need be.

About how many days do we have before the next campaign kicks off?

Hopefully start next scenario by next week as long as everyone locks their characters in.

Oh, and I almost forgot. Make your Day Job rolls here if you have one.

Kat's good, already submitted the level info.

Silver Crusade

Profession Soldier.

Professional Soldier: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Brew, please remove the feat Spell Penetration and please add the feat Combat Casting.

Please add Disrupt undead as one of my memorized cantrips and Shocking Grasp as a memorized Spell as well.

Profession Hunter:
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 (20gp)

I don't have any changes for Eloriand.

I do not have an interest in the Goblin adventure.

Do we do the level info too?

btrhoads wrote:

Do we do the level info too?

Yes, I forgot to mention that. Please include any choices you have for your level up and I will update your sheet on hero lab. I will send out new pdf and state block as well.

Eloriand Level Up
Ranger Level: +1 (2)

Knowledge (Dungeoneering) +1 (1)
Knowledge (Geography) +1 (1)
Knowledge (Nature) +1 (1)
Handle Animal +1 (2)
Survival +1 (2)
Stealth +1 (2)

Combat Style: Archery
Combat Style Feat: I would like Precise Shot, but it looks like I may need to have Point Blank Shot as a pre-req. If that is true I will take Point Blank Shot as the Combat Style Feat instead.

Favored Class Bonus
I am not sure if this applies to PFS. If it does I'll take a Bonus Skill Rank and add it to Knowledge(Nature) for a total of 2.

Grand Lodge

Male Human Fighter / 4, AC 23, HP 45/41, FORT +6, REF +1, WILL +0

Brew, I’ll roll my HP gain HP: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 and hope it’s good. I’ll also take the power attack feat and raise both Climb and Swim skills by 1 each.
No other changes to my character

Grand Lodge

Male Half Elf Cleric / 1st

I'm ok with the way things are looking.

No worries Caoilte. In PFS, HP are gained at a set number so no rolls necessary. I will have sheets updated and chronicles posted by the end of today.

Also, Tarek, Sylorin and Caoilte, are you guys interested in playing the parallel We Be Goblins game?

Brew,

I just emailed an updated stat sheet for Isador.

He is ready to be locked once the changes are made. (it included his level 2 stats)

Isador does not have a craft or profession check.

I do want to make some changes to Tarek but nothing major. I am looking at changing weapons and want to see what I need to adjust. I will try to send out an email on Monday. Any campaign sounds fine to me

Silver Crusade

Brew,
For Havelock, the following spells should be considered memorized at the start of the next scenario unless there is something that makes sense to change.
Cantrips-
Acid Splash
Daze
Disrupt Undead
Read Magic

Level 1
Shocking Grasp
Magic Missilex2

Skill Points
Bluff-1
Climb-1
Heal-1
Intimidate-1
Knowledge (Arcana)-2
Perception-1
Profession Soldier-1
SpellCraft-2
Survival-1
Swim-1
Use Magic Device-1

I do not have any changes to gear or equipment Yet as I am not sure what the spoils are from this last adventure.

I took the option of one additional HP over a sill point, so HP totals with CON, Class, and Toughness feat should come out to 20 on HL and in a PFS setting assuming that I am calculating everything correctly.

The only thing I could/might change is Race but I am gong to to do some very careful reading on that.

I wanted to inform everyone of a few things that took place this last adventure. Tarek had made a few comments during this campaign to hint at those changes.

As you can tell, Tarek is now an Oracle. An Oracle is to the cleric class what a sorcerer is to the wizard class. He is still able to heal, but his focus will not be in that area. Now that we have Sylorin in the group, we can split the healing between the two characters.

I am working on writing up the story that created this change, but I wanted to let everyone know a little bit so they are not questioning some events that had taken place.

The GM has been helping in flushing out Tarek's story. I did not want the changes to be immediate, but instead have them take place naturally and rp those changes. The noises/voices and floating key were a part of Tarek's curse and they are linked to abilities he now has.

He mentioned that things seemed odd after the tower, since the interaction with the lizard[trog chieftain). Having a near death experience from the fall and being inside a tower created to Nethys, seemed like the perfect catalyst for this change to take place. It was not planned, but definitely worked well to create a backstory for Tarek's new mission.

Some of you may remember his ability to throw his hammer and have it return. Although I knew that power was gone, the GM and I played it out that Tarek was not fully aware of those changes. That is why his hammer kind of bounced around and was way off it's mark.

I was hoping some of these odd things may have sparked some player interaction/comments, but I think it left everyone scratching their heads. I just wanted to inform everyone there was not some other secret component to the scenario that we were all missing out on.

Yeah, probably a good idea to let folks in on Tarek's metamorphosis. I applaud Tarek for making bold RP choices during the campaign and I plan on using the new aspects of the character well into the future. Good stuff Tarek.

Looking forward to reading the story.

Ok, the last session has been reported. Everyone should have their chronicles and we are set to begin the next session. I have a few Fantasy Football Drafts coming up, along with work and family stuff, so earliest I am thinking will be sometime this weekend. While I have your attention, a few housekeeping things.

First, everyone please pm me with the email address you prefer me to use to send you stuff. A few of you have multiple accounts and I want to compile a master list.

Second, are people interested in the side Goblins game? I know Arklore, Kat and Tarek have shown an interest. You down Sylorin? If so, then the goblin troupe will consist of those four unless someone else wants in. Just let me know if you are good to go and we will start that up as well. I will likely start that one a bit later though.

If time permits, I plan on sending some PMs out with stuff, so keep your eyes on you pms still.

I am fine with Ark keeping the Magus class and don't feel he should switch to a wizard or sorcerer to benefit the party.

I find it challenging for every caster at low level to be really effective. The DC for saves is still fairly low and I have not had much luck with any spell that targets more than one creature or has a lasting effect. It seems most of us will rely on melee for the next few levels and Magus seems well suited for that.

Silver Crusade

What is the basic breakdown for what damage gets added to a crit?

From what I have read it seems any additional damage (not actual weapon damage) that gets added by rolling a die is only added once on a crit but any damage that has a set numerical value is added multiple times based on the crit multiplier. Is this correct?

1d4 fire damage would only be counted once for a x2 crit but a +4 fire would be added twice.

I am just thinking about how I will be building Tarek over the next few levels and what spells will enhance his ability to do extra damage and which weapons would make the most sense.

I am sticking with the Magus guys, its a great class to role play and Tarek, great job on really embracing story. Brew, keep using the same e-mail address from my yahoo account.

I am ready to roll whenever you kick things off. Looking forward to see what level 2 brings us.

Is that the anime space pirate movie? If it is I only caught the beginning of it. My question is why do all the characters look European and not Japanese?

If it is the same movie then I will watch the rest of it soon. It seemed interesting but I did not have time to finish watching.

Hey folks, just wanted to check in. I am 90% ready to post the next board. Collecting all the needed maps and tokens took a little longer than anticipated. I am holding off on the goblin mod for now and just going to focus on our main campaign. I should have the next game ready to go by the end of this week, as long as rl cooperates.

Silver Crusade

Brew no worries and looking forward to it. I have a heavy dose of Clausewitz and Jomini this week, so plenty of reading by famous dead foreign guys.

Hey folks, just wanted to give you all an update on the next game. I am ready to go for the next scenario and will be putting the board up this weekend. I have realized, however, that the next PbP Gameday is set to begin on Oct 5. As you may recall, the Masters of the Fallen Fortress was run as a part of that online con. I like to run games in the con as everyone has a chance to earn special boons for their character and its fun to participate. That leaves us with a few options.

1. PbP Game day be damned and just forge ahead with the next game asap. We would likely not finish the next game in time to start the next one by 10/5.

2. Postpone the next game and start it on 10/5 OR

3. Start next board now and I'll run a second game for secondary characters for the con.

Frankly, I am fine with any of the above. I will likely run at least one board for the general public but definitely want to run one for you guys as well. So, let me know your thoughts.

I am for either 1 or 3. Lets play NOW!
