Holy frijoles! Send some it our way. Up here is Utah the dang mountains trap tons of smog in wintertime and we count on the snow for both skiing and respitory health. And on matter of health, I went to my dentist to have a seriously painful toothache looked at. Only four hours later I came out a new man! A nice fresh root canal to lighten my wallet...

It makes all the difference. My company just switched, so I got to hear how much it *would* have cost using our old provider. Half!

You Aussies and Canucks have something figured out, I think...

Meanwhile, between 2 doctor visitations, a blood test and 2 ultrasounds, I think I've paid a grand total of $30.

So, I am thinking of taking my group through The Beggar's Pearl. ^^;

The thing is, they're better prepared for this scenario, with everyone having a ranged weapon with the appropriate treatments and most with a melee weapon, too, and with fully half the party having darkvision including a grenadier and an imposing melee combatant. Most are level 2, almost level 3. Granted, there's no Malfeas the Zen archer in the party, but there should be better success at range. I think one of the characters picked up Remove Fear on a scroll or scrolls already.

The whole bit of the SSC is also a bit arbitrary, however, and I don't know if they will be up to the healing or not. Still, do people get the secondary prestige point every time? Maybe if I allow, like Mez did, some Aid Anothers and similar actions. I might drop a hint about some scrolls I've found useful in various scenarios...

The good part about it was that it had some great atmosphere, although I haven't re-read it enough to figure out how much of that was Mez's GMing - probably a lot, but I can steal a few lines here and there. ;-) Also, I own it now, which doesn't hurt, and I've been through it as a player, which gives me more perspective.

I think I also may play up the sanctity of the temple to Torag so that the players could rest if they need to, even if it is unpleasant for Torvic.

Hmm. There's also no trapfinder, unfortunately.

So, what do you think?

(Some of the others that I've done have other weaknesses or have been played by one or more of the characters.)

PFS assumes that you do not get your secondary prestige point every scenario. If they aren't prepared appropriately to save them, then that sucks for them. :)

Yeah, but it is just another factor for me in choosing the scenario, seeing if the SSC makes sense and should be doable.

Fortunately, I had rewritten Norine for 2nd level, making her less probably less effective/optimized but making her more of a healer, with ranks in Heal, a kit, and a number of scrolls. Diagnose Disease isn't even a usual spell, coming in with Ultimate Magic, but I had seen it and thought it would be useful if we were a long way from civilization.

I wonder what the rate of getting the second PP - or even the first PP - is for groups and scenarios?

Even if you didn't rewrite Norine, Calanthe was there, and she would have done her best to heal them. :)

Personally, (and also having not read the module), I would give the group the SSC if they at least put an effort into getting those prisoners healed. Maybe they can't manage the Heal checks, but they make sure (once the dungeon is cleared out) that they take them back to a temple and get things sorted out.

Side note, I'm looking into starting a Wrath of the Righteous campaign with my IRL buddies over Roll20 soon. Should be fun.

I am making a preemptive apology to everyone with whom I am involved in games. My posting for the next month or so will be sporadic. For games I am playing, I will try to check in once a day. For games I am running, there may be gaps of a few days between moves. I ask that folks not give up on me.

This is convention season for me. I am scheduled to attend four conventions in the next month, one as staff. This means a LOT of prep time (as I am running at least three games at each convention, all of which I need to actually write).

Anyway, this is just a heads-up to let you know what is happening. If you must drop me, I understand. I would prefer that if I get behind, you just have my character do what seems logical. Thanks.

Face palm

I forgot Mez can look through walls/doors. After this fight lets go back and check the sealed door :)

Guess that's what happens when you don't play someone for like 3 months

You know, I WAS wondering why that ability wasn't coming out...

But a GM never complains when you give her the chance to attack you without preparation :)

(Although it honestly probably wouldn't have helped that much. The taxidermic owlbear simply rolled well on initiative, and the plant thing had tremorsense, so it knew you were coming either way. Still!)

By the way, the statue image I used is a Balinese guardian statue. They're pretty cool! Apparently they dress them up with clothes and wreathes of flowers quite often.

Depending on WhtKnt's schedule I may have to handwave him out of the scenario soon. Not through malice or anything, but because he needs to have been present for at least three encounters in order to receive XP.

Some of my IRL friends have convinced me to run Wrath of the Righteous. I'm getting pretty excited to do so, actually. What a wonderful wonderful AP!

I'm considering starting up a PbP of it on the boards at the same time, because, well, why not?

Stay tuned. :)

Is WofR "Mythic"? I really don't know what that means. Does it start at level 1 and then go really high or ... ? I've occasionally hit a link that talks about a more power mythic version of a spell, but that's all I've really had time to see so far.

Mythic is something out of the UC book I think. I don't have that one, and really haven't looked up the mythic stuff yet. But would be interested in playing!!!

Mythic is sort of like Paizo's equivalent to 3.5's Epic. Essentially it allows you to go a bit over level 20. However, unlike Epic, it doesn't just kick in once you cap out your levels - you can get Mythic tiers at any level. Also unlike epic, it's not just like slapping another level and more raw numbers on top. It gives you extra powers, stat boosts, and access to special mythic feats and spells instead. It's a cool subsystem.

WotR is indeed Mythic. The whole thing goes up to 20/10 (level 20, 10 mythic tiers) I believe! Pretty crazy.

I'm not opening up a recruitment or anything yet as I'm still preparing for my IRL game... that'll come later. I'll let you guys know.

I think this is probably the same thing that I am doing my best to kill at this very moment in a module, but just talking to something - or trying to - can be much more satisfying, even for a murder-hobo.

Talking to it is cool! I like it. It's cute. In an ugly sort of way. I added it to the adventure specifically because it's interesting. Of course, at higher tiers it also has a cruel and vicious side that likes to experiment on PCs to answer its questions, but...

Well, if we give it what it wants, maybe it won't have to. Going back to Pathfinder headquarters could get the creature as much info as it could possibly want. (Besides, Pathfinders are not exactly above "enhanced interrogation" techniques.)

Next step, the first Lodge in the Dark Tapestry or on one of the Golarion planets or moons or whatever. You know you want to receive missions from V-C Brain Fungus.

Hi all,

My computer is in the shop and my backup computer is resisting all attempts to start up properly, so I may need to be botted by someone or GMPCed if there's a holdup.

I may be able to sneak some time in to make a post, though, but don't want to hold things up.

If I swing at the tentacles running to the portal is it a normal attack or a sunder attempt?
if I can before she drops me that is.

Glad you asked! The mechanic is specifically called out in the mod as being a sunder attempt, and it has some flow-on effects too. :)

We're pretty much at the end now! I'm pretty sure all of your details are on your profiles and such by now.

Roll yer day jobs and such if you've got 'em.

Who's running the next game? ;)

Tod, since you're playing this for no credit, I don't report your character or anything right? And no chronicle..

Well, I think that's right. If you needed me to make a legal table you would definitely need to report that I played.

When I did my replay of Throaty Mermaid with Dietrich it just showed up in my profile as getting 0 credit, though. So you can report my character.

I guess since I bought stuff the most proper thing would be to report my character, but put 0 XP 0 Prestige, and 0 gold on the chroncile and add a note that it was a replay for no credit.

Then I can put my shield and the liquid ice down for ITS purposes.

Fair enough! Never done the replay thing before. :)

I'll run The Penumbral Accords if we want to keep spending our nights at the museum.

Unless Alice has dibs on all the Blakros stuff. :)

So long as I get to run The Blakros Matrimony I don't care! ;) But we might want a bit of a break from the museum too, haha.

(I've already played the season 3 adventure set there, Echoes of the Overwatched, so I can run that one in the future too.)

After her time at the museum - again - Norine takes a restful working vacation aboard her favorite ship, "The Fortunate Traveler". For some reason, the '19' has become a new lucky number for her.

Norine also makes a quick trip, thanks to some GM credit and Derek, to the nation of Andoran... (The Stolen Heir). She'll be just at 3rd level after the two scenarios are applied.
