Well, here goes my first PBP recruitment thread. I will be running the 3 First Steps adventures for Pathfinder Society, thus characters must be made in accordance with those rules. As I previously stated the following individuals get first pick to participate, and according to the guide I can take 6 people. If any of them don't at least post by end of day Monday, 9 January 2012, I'll open it up to everyone.
Severed Ronin
flykiller
Ironic Hero
jacetms87
Skuare
Mister Lurch
Depending on how this goes and on interst I may start another group up as well. Feel free to reply to this thread to express interest to encourage me.
Not sure what else is necessary at this time to put into the recruitment post since it's Pathfinder Society, but if you have any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them.
FINAL DISCLAIMER: This is my first time running both PBP and PFS, so if it's a bit rough, it will get better with practice.

Considering either a Rogue-type (i.e. Rogue and/or Ninja) or a Magus (Bladebound Kensai). I'm going through the PFS Guide right now. As a note, I have extensive experience playing Rogue-types as I've made those exclusively for my current group (2+ years gaming with). The Bladebound-Kensai is something I'd been wanting to try out given that it fits close to the description of a character I once strived to make in the 3X era of D&D. I'll draw both up once I'm done with the PFS Guide. Any thoughts before then on which would be preferred will be most grateful and appreciated.
Thanks for taking this up, Xzaral! I've gotten my PFS number and am reading through the PFS guide right now. How does the group feel about having a paladin in their ranks?
I have no qualms against having a Paladin in our midst.

This is definitely interesting. I've played through one before, but unfortunately I never got to turn my sheet in as I still have to get the DM to redo it concerning mistakes that were made. However, I do believe this was one of the scenarios you can replay and apply to multiple characters.

I'd be interested in joining up. I've got a pretty good track record with PBPs, and I've been wanting to get a PFS character going. I run one long-term game (Kingmaker) and play in two (downrightamazed's Legacy of Marianasu & Mists of War), and produce quality posts. What order will they be played in?
I have one PFS character that has not been played, but it is an AOO-focused fighter, which doesn't work well in PBP. (I've been inspired by Combat Patrol the last few weeks, and have made a ton of characters that maximize CP's usage.)
I'd have to roll a new character, but I have a lot of interesting ideas. An alchemist of some sort, perhaps.
@Severed Ronin I have a Kensai magus in my RL COTCT campaign. He is so much fun to play.

@Barcas I'm currently playing one in my wife's Carrion Crown game right now alongside a Holy Gun Paladin, Unbreakable Fighter, and straight Cleric (don't get me started on her). So far it is fun. I plan on making the Kensai's favored weapon be his black blade as a Bladebound.
How's the Combat Patrol working out? I had a build that used that, but never got to use it myself.

At present I have now heard from the 6 from the original topic so those will be the 6 for this group:
Severed Ronin
flykiller
Ironic Hero
jacetms87
Skuare (Victor Zepeda)
Mister Lurch
You 6 get your characters finalized in the Discussion chat and when you're ready to go we'll start.
As soon as I get this 6 going I'll throw up a post for another group (I anticipate either this Friday or next Monday). The people from this thread will get priority, then I'll open up a couple days later. Just to have the names in one spot:
Zavac the Scarred
Christopher Lee
ThreeEyedSloth
AdAstraGames
Joshua Hirtz
Belle Mythix (Void Munchkin)
DM Barcas (Issac Duplechain)
Dasiji Lekaya (Anton Green)
If I missed anyone, let me know, though I'll still only be able to take 6 (might end up having to start a 3rd later on).

Actually, I will DM the First Steps series myself. As I do not have to produce anything myself, it won't be a big time drain or commitment like an Adventure Path. I had to drop two APs that I was running when I got really busy earlier this year, but this should be well within my capacity.
Take a look at my Kingmaker thread for the style of DMing.
I will expect a few things from my players:
1. A promise to post at least once per day.
2. To email me a copy of the character sheet (or HeroLab file), or the information that I need to produce one or both of those.
3. No one-line or one-roll posts. If all you are doing is responding to a request for a roll, at least put in a few sentences about how your character responds to it. PBP is a great way to get some good solid roleplaying in, and I expect no less from anyone.
4. To follow the basic outline for character sheets, dialogue, internal thoughts, combat, skill rolls, and such things that I will supply. (Bold dialogue, for instance).
In return, I will give you a well-written, well-run experience, and will run all three adventures if the first one goes well.
If you have a character, that's cool. If not, that's cool too. But you will definitely need it to be an official registered PFS character.
Who wants in? I will take six players.

EDIT: (because I can't do my last post, stupid 1hr limit) After creeping your Kingmaker thread, I'm very interested in signing up for your group, DM Barcas. Love your style, and it fits in with mine. Consider a character up when you get the recruitment thread up. I'll need to make a character for PFS, but I'm already registered. Shall work on a character once you're ready.

I do, I do! Your Kingmaker of Korvosa was so much fun to read, I'm keeping it in my RSS just in case. Never say never.
FWIW, it could take me until Friday or Monday to get everything ship-shape. Once things get rolling, I'm a frequent poster who enjoys roleplaying and tactical combat both. I went a long time without playing -- kind of skipped over 3.x -- but I've been reading up and I think I've been getting better in my PbPs.
DM Barcas |
Okay, we now have two PCs - Zavac the Scarred (Oracle of Life), Dasiji Lekaya (Trapper Ranger). Four more spots, four more spots!
I wish I had the time to run Kingmaker of Korvosa. (For those not in the know, it was a combination COTCT-COT campaign with a little bit of Kingmaker thrown in.) Once I get some more time in life, I hope to resurrect it.

I would also like to join. It seems like almost all of my games have dried up since the holiday seasons and I'm not sure what is going on.
I am, however, deployed in Afghanistan at the moment, so occasionally, (like this week) just do not have internet access for short periods, unexpectantly.
I have a few characters made, one I would like to use (need to return it to PFS legal.
I had been running a PFS Silent Tide game, but no activity in a while so I am going to cancel it officially now.
I have not played any games, but have DM'd Silent Tide enough that I think I do not qualify for it (if that matters). I am fairly familiar with the PFS rules, and have access to nearly every book, though it may take me some time to open them, (deployed).
(i'll also post this in the recruitment thread.)

I never signed up for The Arena unfortunately though I have been lurking its thread now for awhile. The only few PBPs I have participated/ran were all discontinued or died out unfortunately. Those being: Legacy of Fire (GM), Second Darkness (PC), two of my own homebrew PBPs (GM). All of the games I was GMing died out due to my being unable to access the computer for long periods of time (military took over). I have also posted in several other forums here as well as on a few other websites.

All right, completed part 1 of Pathfinder Society First Steps. We are going to start part 2, but we're down to 2 players at present, so recruiting 4 more for it. What we Currently have is a Paladin and an Alchemist. If you want in, I'll take the first 4 that have completed characters with an alias. If you have any questions, let me know.
Remember that this is for Level 1 Pathfinder Society characters only!
