C'mon, boy. Come. We mean you no harm. We're not going to hurt you. We're here to help you. Thats' right. Just follow us, and we'll bring you to bright daylight. Out of this place, back to where you belong. Doesn't that sound right? I don't like being underground any more than you do, so why don't we get out of here together. Let me show you the way.

Miko is ready to show the fey dog the way out....

Tuich notices the lack of a ding-dong on the barrow hound, and tells the hound she's a good girl while carefully giving her a skritch under the chin. The hound frowns at the random deed by the stranger, but then decides she actually likes it and lets out a content bark.

The hound barks at Miko, a look of concern in her eyes. She does, however, seem ready to follow Miko.

If you guide her outside:
Once outside the barrow hound looks around at the unfamiliar world. She turns to Miko with a questioning look.

A moment of clarity hits Miko Home home. Just like the spider. This device we're looking for, did it summon creatures from the first world? If it does, maybe we can reverse it, and we can truly send this creature home.

Seeing the concern in the hounds' eyes, she then turns to her and says the world above may not be what you're looking for, but perhaps if we find what brought you here, we can help you.

Let's hope the hound comes along.

The barrow hound nods at Miko and follows you back inside. You head all the way back to the room where you found her, and move up to the door in the west wall. You head into a corridor where the hound has to do some squeezing to follow you. As appears to be standard in this place the corridor ends in another, which you also open.

An enormous machine takes up the majority of this chamber, its various complex and seemingly illogical components made up of a combination of stone and black wood. Half-engine, half gnarled dead tree, the tendrils from this otherworldly device crawl up the walls in every direction as if to choke the chamber that holds them. A faint sound like that of a breeze rustling through leaves can be heard coming from the machine.

Close to the entrance are three skeletons with dried-up blood on them, each wielding a broken morningstar. Close to the tree stands a tall, slender and dark haired woman. Her skin's abnormally pale. When she turns to look you, you see she has one green and one pink eye.

"Kill them!" the woman yells, causing the skeletons to jump into action.

As fight goes slower, Khismia still uses her wand to heal Vincent wounds. Than you can see her having an internal struggle, trying to reason Ayu.
Suddenly, she burst in anger:
- Tuich, destroy that abomination of Goddess will, please! - and she keeps all her will to control haunt, while possessed undead is not crushed as pile of bones. Oracle's nose bleeds, but she holds the holy symbol of Pharasma in her hand and smiles gently.

Vincent, since wand discharged, please add yourself 2 hp.
Due to my character faith believes, I cannot let the undead leave so let's have it destroyed.

Tuich looks up and blinks, then seems to notice the remaining skeleton for the first time.

"Oh... yes, I suppose you can't control it forever, can you."

So saying, she makes good use of her holy ice weapon.

Dunno if you actually want that rolled or not...

Heavy Mace (Holy Ice Weapon): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage (Weapon): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 Note +4 is Cold damage
Damage (Holy Water): 1d4 ⇒ 4

How many whacks would you like?

You mentioned 'bloody' skeleton. There was something special about them, no?

Hmm. It's nothing but a necromantic automaton. Nothing like that girl we found in the crypt. I wonder how she is doing...

Vincent looks over Elessia's body, looking for anything useful or that would tell him about her plans.

I imagine Tuich is looking very pleased with herself, now that she is able to use her anti-skeleton weapon.

And only one point shy of perfect rolls all around, no less!

Tuich whacks the skeleton that still stands, but it doesn't fall. Another whack causes it to fall apart.

Miko recalls that this type of skeleton is a bloody skeleton, and fills everyone in on this type of undead.

Bloody skeleton:
Bloody skeletons have fast healing 1. They are destroyed when reduced to 0 hit points, but return to unlife 1 hour later at 1 hit point, allowing their fast healing thereafter to resume healing them. A bloody skeleton can be permanently destroyed if it is destroyed by positive energy, if it is reduced to 0 hit points in the area of a bless or hallow spell, or if its remains are sprinkled with a vial of holy water.

Loot from Elessia:
Wand of cure moderate wounds (12 charges), wand of invisibility (6 charges), +1 chain shirt, dagger, light crossbow, mwk whip, chime of opening (5 uses remaining), silver unholy symbol of Calistria, onyx gem worth 150 gp.

Vincent finds nothing on Elessia's body that reveals her plans, but he does recall that she was staring at the enormous machine in the corner of the room when you entered. The machine's various complex and seemingly illogical components are made up of a combination of stone and black wood. Half-engine, half gnarled dead tree, the tendrils from this otherworldly device crawl up the walls in every direction as if to choke the chamber that holds them. A faint sound like that of a breeze rustling through leaves can be heard coming from the machine.

Nestled inside the bole of the massive dead tree rests a tome. Roots and tendrils from the tree seem to have burrowed into the book, but you figure they can be removed (with a successful DC 15 Knowledge (nature) or Sleight of Hand check).

"Well then, more holy water is in order," Tuich says to Miko as she heads back down the hallway to retrieve her backpack.

She'll load up her aspergillium and do the sprinkly thing. Will that take three flasks, one for each skellie?

Didn't your mace deal holy water damage to the skeleton you destroyed?

You could just whack the remains of the other skeletons with the mace, instead of using more of your unused vials.

It did. But how many whacks do you get before a battle aspergillium's out of holy water? I guess I've always assumed one successful hit. Or, at best, 'til the termination of one enemy. I'll have to look that one up.

"After 5 hits, the battle aspergillum is empty and needs to be refilled." Looks like you can just finish them all off with one vial.

Hmm, I don't know. Most of the trees I see are dead ones that people scrawled on. You know I don't venture out in the wilderness too much, and when I do it's in a desert, or underground in a crypt or castle...

Coming to think of it, strange place for a tree.

Tuich moves over to the hound and tends to its wounds. "Sorry you got hurt, girl. That was very brave of you to help!"

Standing beside the beast, she idly pets it while staring at the tree. "Now if we can just figure this thing out and get you home!"

The barrow hound pushes her head again Tuich after the heal. She walks over to the tree and sniffs at it, then turns to look at you expectantly.

"Miko, you seem good with your hands. Maybe you could remove the roots from that tome more carefully than I could."

I would cast Guidance if I knew it. But I noticed that you have a +6 in Sleight of Hand, which might be the highest in the party.
