Woo! What a day. Just getting on the board right now. I'll get a post up in the next hour.
Kiku Caritas |
I'll get a post up tomorrow. I was busy yesterday with classes and my sister's graduation and today with my classes, work, and graduation, as well as some (good!) personal developments! Sorry for the delay!

All of these sound like great reasons to be busy. Hope those good personal developments keep working for you!

I have a girlfriend now, as of last night :D
It was a relationship upgrade for me and a friend :)
GM Hmm |
Oh! I'm so happy for you! Often the best relationships are born out of those with whom you've been friends for a long time.
Hmm
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Sorry for the slow posting yesterday and today. Tomorrow will be just as bad.
I've been in court more in those three days than I've been in the last three Ned will normalize on Saturday.
Feel free to pull out bot buddy if necessary!
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
I might have mucked up your map a bit, DM. I accidentally moved the warpriest, then the vrock, before actually moving Shel. I tried to move the other two back where they were, but if it looks off, that was my doing, unfortunately.
Wei Ji |
Hi!
Poking my head in to congratulate folks on totes murderhoboing death vagranting *LIBERATING* that poor, poor, imprisoned vrock.
I highly recommend exploration of the remaining area before trying to pack things up, etc?
Also, thank you very much Bot Buddy 2000 and I'll make sure you get a nice shiny commendation to weld to your outer shell. Could you please take care of things for a little bit longer?
Thanks to everyone for their patience!

Hey Gang --
Been out all day, then discovered that my phone was missing. Fortunately, the fine folks at Fantasy Flight Game Center found it and so I can get back to the business of harassing you all with an endless sequence of advanced vampiric construct swarms... Oh wait a minute. Did I say that aloud?
Let's see what's in the rest of this module, shall we?
Hmm
GM Hmm |
So I'm GMing icebound outpost tomorrow. Brrr! I may wind up not posting until after the game concludes, so discuss amongst yourselves what you want to do next. It's decision time!
Hmm
Wei Ji |
Poking head in briefly... Do we know what results putting this thing back together will have?
Alternatively, what have we actually seen so far as far as proof of Emissary arrival short of a couple of folks mentioning the impending arrival and the cult planning?
ie, how confident are we on putting it together?
Just questions, please put your own thoughts forward.

Assuming you decide to repair the orrery, I'll move you forward later tonight. If you want to vote or discuss, I can do that too and give you 24 hours to check in.
However if no one openly objects I'm assuming that you'll follow the action proposed by Grigorii and agreed to by Shel and Baaldryn. If you wish to veto, do so now.
Right now my brain is recovering from the table of endless squirming -- four kids all twelve and under, all hyper and full of energy -- it was a table of short attention spans but much enthusiasm! Oh and two moms.
The coordinator apologized in advance for giving me team hyper, but I agreed that it was probably for the best to have them all at the same table rather than at some of the adult tables. And I could not fault their creativity! Man they came up with weird strategies.
Hmm
Kiku Caritas |
I'm here. I have been out all day the past few days (girlfriend time + Hell's Rebels), and I wanted to look back over the info we had about the orrery before chiming in.
I'll be giving my thoughts in-character in gameplay.
Wei Ji |
Tossed in a brief commentary about Wei's opinion, still at PaizoCon, hadn't heard that, Hmm. Will look it up. Thank you.
GM Hmm |
Paranoid players! Is there anything sweeter to a GM's ears?
Let's give you guys about ten hours to come to a consensus: repair the orrery, yes or no. If you want to do that by taking a vote, that's fine. Discuss, then decide!
Hmm
GM Hmm |
It's been almost ten hours, so let's sum up the debate.
Grigorii and Shel firmly want to put the pieces of the orrery together so that it can be picked up and moved and brought back to the society.
Kiku and Wei Ji worry that putting it together will activate it and help the Emissary. They've even suggested the possiblity of destroying it.
Baaldryn and Harsk are open to destroying it if it turns out to be evil, but they want to move it and bring it back to the society if possible.
Have I got an accurate summary of all arguments and viewpoints here? If so, it sounds like the majority is leaning towards putting all the planets in, seeing what happens, and then deciding.
Is this your consensus as a group?
Hmm
GM Hmm |
As the strongest voice of the minority I'll take that as a yes. Who wants to post about bringing the planets back to the Orrery?
Hmm
GM Hmm |
Ouch! The GM apologizes for two things:
1) Taking so long to get that post together.
2) Wei Ji... Ouch. Sorry that you got hit twice!
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Well, isn't this a fine mess we have gotten ourselves in to? Anyone have any powerful Commune type spells available? Shel has never dealt with anything like this before.
Hmm, do we know of any sage types in town? We have to hit the books!
GM Hmm |
Two things:
Although I gave you 24 hours game time, I can be a bit more flexible about real time prep for the final battle (especially since tomorrow is a WEDNESDAY.) Between hosting at Dreamers, storytime and trying to catch up after a holiday weekend... my Wednesday is nuts.
However, I would love for you all to be proactive in thinking about what kind of prep you need to do, and remember that you have the orrery of awesomeness, the cleric in town, plus whatever else you have picked up. So... Post your preparation plans and research ideas. Go hog wild, and we'll have the Emissary arrive on Thursday, real-time.
Dun dun dun!
Hmm
Grigorii |
What information are you looking to get? *flexes brain*
What we know right now:
*aligned weapons
*confusion effect??

Don't forget that they don't like divine spellcasters, and they are super nasty against them.
*Kiku hides in corner with her 60-something holy symbols*
(Being an onmyouji made her a divine spellcaster, even though spiritualists are normally psychic spellcasters)
Wei Ji and Baaldryn have some divine too, but they are a bit sturdier than poor Kiku.

It does! Let's blow up the world! Create an Absalom station! Have ratfolk, androids and lashunta as core races. (I still want Piiiigs in spaaaaaace, though!)
I think this could be a good place for intrigue and occult campaigns too.
I'm so there!

Got the sinus ick, everyone. I assume it'll take me a day or two to get back to 100% fighting strength. If I'm not here as much as normal, please buddy bot Shel for me!
GM Hmm |
Well, I'm hoping you feel better soon! Sinus ick sucks!

As far as preparations, I feel like we should throw out all our best buffs. Good Hope, Blessing of Fervor, etc.... Does someone have the post handy with the summary of all the orb effects we know about?
For countering confusion, Baaldryn has Suppress Charms and Compulsions, Kiku has 2 scrolls of Calm Emotions, and Grigorii has Calm Emotions as a spell known. At least one of us should be able to successfully counter any confusion.
Wei Ji has a level 3 continual flame on an ioun stone (I know because I'm the GM that suggested it :3 ), so it can even counter deeper darkness if needed, since I wouldn't be surprised if it has some darkness SLA or something if it's sensitive to light.
Baaldryn Ozemson |
i still think we should destroy the orrerry. We can bring back the pieces to the society later for them to study or put back together. if this orrerry thing is evil or fights us during the last fight we will have two foes. given enough time to buff we can withstand the bad guy assault which may be some WIL save attacks looking at the recent fights.

___
Orb Effects
Now that you're actually looking at a fully charged orrery, based on Grigorii's take ten spellcraft and the fact that you've all seen it in action and touched it with your minds, you've noticed that most of these spheres have multiple charges. (The scenario makes it much easier to figure out how the orrery works once you've activated it.)
Once detached, a planetary sphere carries 4 charges that can be used to activate a spell effect.
If something takes 4 charges in the table below, that means that it can only be used once before recharging. If has 1 charge, it can be used 4 times. Yes, this is CONFUSING language, and that is part of the reason it did not make its way into a gameplay post in a timely manner.
The effects of the 12 spheres and the number of charges required to use a sphere's spell are as follows:
• Sun—searing light (1 charge)
• Aballon—haste (2 charges)
• Castrovel—detect thoughts (1 charge)
• Golarion—resilient sphere (4 charges)
• Akiton—rage (1 charge)
• Verces—align weapon (1 charge)
• Eox—death ward (2 charges)
• Triaxus—teleport (4 charges)
• Liavara—dream (4 charges)
• Bretheda—restoration (2 charges)
• Apostae—fly (2 charges)
• Aucturn—confusion (2 charges)
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Sounds like searing light could be very useful if light bothers the creature.

One point to consider with artifacts. If you deliberately destroy them, there's little likelihood of reassembling them.*
Don't forget all the funky wands and scrolls you picked up. There's more than just Magic Missile in your treasure pile.
___
*Unless plot says so -- Curse you, Sky Key!
Grigorii |
The restoration orb is one we should definitely have on hand. Negative levels are no fun.
I want an enlarge person for myself. How about you, Baaldryn? Reach will give us 20% concealment. Can we find potions in town?

The artifact is not evil, so we don't have cause to destroy it.
My Preparation
Cast daylight on the signal whistle hanging from my neck. 80 minutes.
Cast feather step on myself, Shel and Baaldryn. 80 minutes.
Cast align weapon on my axe (from orb). ~12 minutes??
Cast good hope on the party. 8 minutes.
Cast moment of greatness. 8 minutes.
Cast enlarge person on myself (potion?? need to purchase) 1 minute.
My Tactics
Start singing, get up close and hit it. I won't take as much damage as Wei Ji or Baaldryn. Try to make use of reach.
Anything I'm missing?
Kiku Caritas |
Death Ward protects against negative levels, and it suppresses the effects for its duration. Restoration takes three rounds to cast, so it's more of an after-combat measure.
Grigorii |
I thought the orbs were Spell Trigger items. That would only be a standard action to activate.
But yes, death ward is important for our front line.
Wei Ji |
Apologies for not posting on this post-haste, my flight took off last night at 9PM after several delays, and we landed at 3AM CDT.
I didn't get home and into bed until 5AM, and then was promptly woken up at 8AM because stupid ******* telemarketer (keep the ringer on for emergencies).
Suffice to say, still burnt, going to nap momentarily, hope to have something up tonight.
Shel Whispertongue PFS |
Shel might be best served by hanging back and using those magic missile wands to blast away. Her UMD is pretty good, so the majority should be successful (famous last words).
