PFS Destiny of the Sands Trilogy (Inactive)

Game Master James Martin

I'm running 5-12, 5-15 and 5-16 back to back with the same players. Osirion awaits!

I'm looking to run the Destiny of the Sands with the same party from start to finish. The first two scenarios are 1-5, but the last is 3-7, so you'll obviously need characters that will fit the tiers. And since this is Pathfinder Society, you'll need PFS legal characters.

What I'm looking for:
1. Players who can commit their characters for three scenarios.
2. Players who can post at least once a day. Twice or more is better. In order to get these done in a reasonable amount of time, more posts are better.
3. Players who can post Monday - Friday. Weekends are generally slow.
4. Players who are willing to role-play a bit. I don't need paragraphs of inner monologue, but I do need more than "I roll to hit."
5. 4-7 players with PFS legal, ready to go characters.

This trilogy looks like a lot of fun. The first two mods are out and the third will be by the time we get to it. Let's make it mythic! I will be using Roll20 for maps and props. It's a free service and you'll need an account there.

I will open recruiting through Thursday, March 13 at Noon Central Time (US). I will select and announce players then. If you cannot commit for the whole time, DO NOT APPLY.

Sound off Pathfinders!

Sovereign Court

Hi I'm interested but I must inform you that I'll be running this for my own group when it finally arrives in a face to face game.

I have also played part 1 but not part 2 and 3.

I can post multiple times per day except for weekend where I'm working.

I have a level 2 monk but will be level 3 in a couple of days.
Rekgar Boulderstep

Interested. Is a new level 1 character going to have difficulty staying breathing?

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

A new level one character will not work. You would still be level 1 when the third scenario comes out, which is a tier 3-7 scenario.

Thanks for the reply, James. Is it permissible to level up a new character for this purpose, or is that prohibited by PFS rules?

As I read the Guide, it looks prohibited, but I'd like to be sure before I pass up this opportunity.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

The only way to level a character is through playing or GMing. Each scenario adds +1 xp and Modules add +3 xp. It takes 3 xp to go up a level. You can play a pregen character (ie one of the iconics) if you'd like, and apply the credit to a character of your own when you reach that level. The pregens come in 1,4 and 7th level varieties. If you'd like to do that, you're welcome to.

Silver Crusade

I have a 2nd level swashbuckler with 5 XP who would be able to play all three. He's signed up for another Game Day table, but I believe I can replace him with another character there.

Will any of the three parts be reports for the Game Day?

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

I'm thinking at least one might be. I'd like to get started before the April 5th kickoff date, though.

The Exchange

Level 2 gunslinger. Musket master.
Busy with a game currently. But if we finish in time, would like to sign her up

Liberty's Edge

I'm Karos Valdian. Have gun, will travel.

Gunslinger1/Inquisitor1. Of Cayden Cailean.

Scarab Sages

Howdy!

I have an Osirion faction (former Shadow Lodge faction) level 5 PFS alchemist that's currently "on the shelf" waiting for these scenarios so he can "come off the shelf" and play all three in a row.

Elithir:

I play him a bit like a cross between Spock and Sheldon from Big Bang Theory - he's a half elf who is highly logical and tries to overcome his "human" flaws. A trope I know, but nonetheless tends to be fun and easily grasped by other players in organized play.

Not sure how this game shakes out with level 2's - it feels like the 1-2 subtiers for the first two scenarios. While I don't have an issue playing down, I also wouldn't want to trivialize a scenario for others, so would cede a spot for someone of the proper level as I'm really hoping to get this specific PC into the arc.

Cheers!

Grand Lodge

James, I have a level three inquisitor that just freed up. I'd love to play all the scenarios. Info is in his profile. He will have one additional XP as of tomorrow, but will still be at third level.

Silver Crusade

Just confirming availability/interest.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

Okay, let's see what we have so far:

Nightdeath - level 3 Monk
Kurvast - level 2 Swashbuckler
Aldrea - level 2 Gunslinger
Karos - Level 2 gunslinger/inquisitor
Elithir - level 5 alchemist
Hagrym - Level 3 Inquistor

Looks like if we include Elithir, we're skewing toward 3. If we don't, we're solidly 2.

So, I will accept everyone who has posted thus far and I'll leave it up to you to determine whether you wish to play up or down for the first scenario.

Grand Lodge

I'm fine either way. Up or down.

Sovereign Court

I'm fine either way. I get OOS up or down I suppose.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

The first scenario is not nearly as deadly as the second...

Scarab Sages

Ah, thanks for the consideration. I'll bow out of this one so the team can land solidly in the 1-2 subtier.

Cheers!

Grand Lodge

That makes it simple then. Lower it is!

Sczarni

If you have room I have a lvl 1 PFS Tank which might complement your crew...

Ragnar Trollbiter

The Exchange

There might be a chance i wont be able to join... current game might not finish in time

Ah, poop. Just missed the cutoff. :(

Oh wait, I see Aldrea ninja'd me. I have a fighter 1/bard 1 I can offer, James, if you need another. He's somewhat similar to Malavarius, honestly.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

Mott, if you want to join, you're welcome to!

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

Aldrea, when is your game over?

Dang - wish I had seen this thread earlier.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

Nightdeath - level 3 Monk
Kurvast - level 2 Swashbuckler
Aldrea - level 2 Gunslinger
Karos - Level 2 gunslinger/inquisitor
Hagrym - Level 3 Inquistor
Mott - Level 2 Bard/Fighter

Lekku, you're welcome to join if Aldrea cannot play.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Thanks, James. Now I don't have to kill Pems and Kereek! ;D

The Exchange

I asked, but GM has not yet replied. Maybe i will know by tomorrow. GMT+2 incase you are wondering

Shadow Lodge

I feel complete now that I see I ceded Eli's spot to mott. A worthy exchange was made! :)

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

Thanks, Wakedown. Kind of you to say.

However, I did just realize I will be gone for a couple weeks in early May (probably completely away from Internet, which is rare for me). If that's a problem, James, I can bow out too.

Sovereign Court RPG Superstar 2010 Top 16, 2011 Top 32

That should be okay, Mott.

Everyone, go ahead and post in the Gameplay thread. Let's get this feast on the road!

Silver Crusade

Excellent. Just a heads up, I am planning on swapping out characters after Part I, if that's alright. I have an Osirion alchemist who I think would be more fun to play in an Osirion-focused adventure, but he's booked up at the moment.

He'll be coming in with 5 XP, however, so at least this means we won't have too many out-of-tier PCs for Part II.
