Shayla will wait for the dwarfs and Zalanda, then close the trap door and push the bathtub back in place. "Seiomi, have the witches come while we were downstairs?"

While carefully opening the door to the corridor, Shayla peeks to see if there's any sign of the witches.

Carefully walking to the kitchen Shayla checks if that's where the witches are, even though she doesn't hear any obvious sounds. Next, Shayla moves to the exit on the east side and checks if there's anyone on the inn's grounds.

Shayla peeks through the inn door, and sees a priest dressed in gray robes, wearing an iron mask, leaning against the courtyard's well. She is flanked by two men of the type you've seen before.

It's going to be hard to move through the door unseen.

Zalanda nods No. used my only sleep earlier. Moving to the window south of the Inn main door Zalanda says a simple command word. Zalanda will cast Ghost Sound to the location of the stables E11 making it sound like 4 people are in the stables. Zalanda tries to hand sign that she wants her companions to wait, then she starts to undress.

Shayla goes outside first and keeps herself in between the priest with his men, and her allies with the dwarfs. She motions to the others to get moving, past herself and to the exit. Meanwhile Shayla looks around in search of signs of other enemies.

The priest in the iron mask sends a thug to investigate the sound in the stables, as Shayla moves past the door, and into the courtyard. The lack of cover makes her easy to spot, upon which the iron mask stands up, and speaks in a female voice In the name of the most holy living god, drop your weapons! I am holy Ahendile, ordained priest of Razmir and arbiter of your fates. Submit to my authority and you may well earn more merciful treatment.

One of the freed dwarves shivers behind Zalanda and says It's her...

Besides Holy Ahendile and the two thugs, Shayla cannot discern any other enemies. One of the two thugs stand ready with armed crossbow, while the other is momentarily off-guard in the stables.

Zalanda puts on her best innocent face and slowly walks toward the guard. "Please do not let your companions harm me. I'm unarmed and barely dressed. I do not mean you any harm."

After staggering back from Shayla's assault, Alia drives her scimitar into the back of the priest, drawing another deep gash. Miraculously, she is still standing.

The charmed crossbowman moves to step between Zalanda and Holy A, to form a human shield. The other thug takes a step back and fires at Seiomi, hitting her square in the chest. She stumbles from the impact, gasping for air, and collapses to the ground.

Holy adenhile stumbles away from Shayla and Alia, and casts a spell on herself, enveloping herself in a whitish glow.

Seeing Seiomi fall to the ground with a crossbow bolt in her chest, Zalanda points at the guard that fired the boltand speaks to her charmed friend. "Protect me from him, don't let him fire another shot he will kill me." After she speaks she will drop to the ground to avoid the next shot.

Holy Ahendile regains her sight just in time to see Shayla's sword striking at her. Raising her arms for an incantation, Shayla chops one right off. You.. she shouts, as she sees Alia's scimitar emerge from het abdomen, stopping the vile curse and replacing it by a gurgling of bubbles and blood.

The charmed crossbowman starts talking to the one in the stable Stop, stop! We've got the wrong ones, let's get out of here!. The latter does not react, but calmly loads another arrow and fires at Shayla, who turns around just in time to see a bolt whizz past her head.

Shayla continues to move alongside the stable's wall, increasing her speed so she's running. When she gets close to Seiomi she jumps over her, planning to end up next to the crossbowman.

Shayla tries to jump over Seiomi, but misstep and steps on her leg. Other than that, she stays upright and only stumbles a bit.

You didn't really need the acro check. The dc for a 5ft jump is 5, and failing by less than 5 means you don't make the jump. It is a bit pathetic not to make a 5ft jump, though ;-)

With Shayla and Alia running at him, the crossbowman has ample time to reload, and fires a bolt at the first adventurer in close range. As soon as Shayla makes her somewhat clumsy landing, a bolt hits her in the leg. The other crossbowman Marked as yellow now, comes storming in and says don't hurt the woman in the back, just don't!.

"Ugh!" Shayla bites her lips as she feels a surge of pain from the bolt in her leg. Now in range of the crossbowman she slices one of her swords at his torso.

With a stream of blood coming from the bolt in the leg, Shayla doesn't hesitate when she sees an opening in the crossbowman's defines. Her blade hits the man straight in a small opening between helmet and shoulder pad, and the convincing jet of gore is the first indication that this is another foe neutralised.

The final, charmed crossbow man kneels beside his fallen comrade and scream why?! This was unnecessary!

Enemy defeated, the charmed man does not act against you - for now. We have Seiomi down (at 0 hp, so stable), who is still considered part of the party.

The captive dwarves now dare come out in the open. Saying let's not waste any time, we must get out of here, they move not onto the courtyard.

Combat is over and a quivering crossbowman is left on the ground. Seiomi is brought to her senses, and with the threat of Holy Ahendile gone, the road back to the Abacus is open.

Once back on the ship, the adventurers and the rescues dwarves are greeted warmly, and a swift sail is set for an escape upriver. Beside some coldness in the relationship between Temel and Metella - competition taking its toll - the journey is uneventful.
