Adrianna looks at the others, and says, "I can check out the statue to the north there. My agility and speed could be useful here. I plan to avoid the glowing runes and the vines. Any other thoughts?"

If there are no other ideas or dissent, she will hop, skip and jump over the vines and runes, ending up in front of the statue.

40' move rate. Acrobatics +9, +13 to jump. If she is attacked, she will expend a ki point to gain a +4 dodge bonus to her AC for 1 round. This is a supernatural ability.

Mogall listens to Adrianna's plan, "Luck!". The small wayang watches the monk's acrobatics, ready to help if necessary.

Lance just readies his sword - "If something bad is going to happen, now is probably the time" he asides with his cavalier manner.

Adrianna moves to a position in front of the statue, which remains obstinately inanimate.

Now that she is here, she will examine the statue and the stained glass behind it closely, calling out what she observes to her partners.

Adrianna spends some time gazing at the statue, noticing a shimmering behind the stained glass panel, as if there is a space behind it. Before she can investigate further, however, the statue finally animates to defend the room. The statue breaks in three part, each resembling a tall Jistkan man with several serpents of dark stone coiled around its body.

Jalthas closes the distance between the nearest snake (black) and himself, then hacks at it with eerie speed.

Anaristiel and Lance place concerted strikes on the closest statue, while Adrianna takes care of the neighbouring one, chipping off rocks and pebbles.

Mogall casts a hastening spell, while Jalthas adds to the fray, hacking at the damaged structure.

The snakes on the statues harass Adrianna and Lance, the pain of fangs sinking deep into flesh clearly felt. Another beam of bright fire shoots out at Lance, but misses.

Adrianna retreats under a hail of crumbling pebbles, caused by the combined efforts of Lance, Jalthas and Anaristiel, who bring down the closest statue, leaving only a single construct.

Mogall rolls his flaming sphere toward the last statue, which seems unaffected by the hex. The flaming streak that spouts from its eyes gives a hint why.

Slightly singed by the statues burning gaze, Mogall pats as his smoldering cloak more irritated at the wasted flaming sphere. He points his fingers and says a quick incantation causing his body to be displaced.

For some stupid reason Adrianna also has no potions of healing (which I WILL correct after this adventure!) so she will stay hidden for now...

Anaristiel pokes the statue twice, after which Jalthas moves into position and hacks his curved blade into the stonework. FInally, a lash out by Lance makes the statue crumble to dust.

Mogall gives a very dry "Yea team. So what was it guarding?"

He also pulls out his wand or infernal healing "Adrianna, If you don't mind a little devil blood I can have you healed up in about three minutes."

"I've never encountered anything as resilient as those things.., Shall we have a look at what they were guarding?" suggests the suit of armor as he sheathes his blade.

"Normally I would pass on anything so nefarious, but today I will accept your aid without question." she says, meekly submitting herself for the infernal healing...

Mogall uses three charges from the wand over the course of 3 minutes to heal Adrianna's wounds, "Probably should stay away from holy weapons while the spell is in effect."

infernal healing gives fast heal 1 point per round for 10 rounds. each casting will heal 10pts for a total of 30.

He also pulls out his wand or infernal healing "Adrianna, If you don't mind a little devil blood I can have you healed up in about three minutes."

Lance looks over with a smile at the wand and the conversation "Magic wands and devils blood, sounds delicious" he offers salaciously "On that note, I think I picked up a few bruises, not to fret. Let's see what was being guarded, so we can be done with this place and away home"

Lance starts looking about, more interested in the opportunity to engage in combat and chivalry than any matter of academia.

Mogall patches up his comrades with a little touch of Chelish magic. Eventually the party finds the entrance to the room that is hidden behind the obsidian wall.

Eerie green lights burn all along the walls of this laboratory. A staircase ascends to the east, and a collapsed one lies to the west. A stained-glass window looms over an operating slab where the remains of a humanoid creature lie chained to the stone. Several tablets and other strange items lie atop the various tables.

The laboratory holds two scrolls, a potion and a magical bastard sword.

Now that the underground ruins have been explored, the party is free to return. The trip back to Corentyn - aboard a Chelish frigate - is swift and comfortable.

Arriving at the museum of History, the museum appears dark and empty except for several muffled voices audible in the building’s east wing.

Lance leaves Flash outside the museum, "A fine welcome mat they've left us" he looks around, and heads inside.

Jalthas helps his companions take extensive notes about the site, catalog their findings, and transport what they've found back to Corentyn.

Mogall looks at the tablets at first he is unable to understand, but he continues to study them until they start to make sense "They seem to be notes on how to make constructs from fiendish energy, and plans by Jistkan to use the constructs against div enemies."

The Wayang wizard uses detect magic and read magic to identify the two scrolls, a potion and a magical bastard sword on they way back too Corentyn - aboard a Chelish frigate.

Once back at the museum Mogall heads towards the muffled voices in the east wing trying to be quite.

Once the group gets to the museum, Adrianna is puzzled by the silence and emptiness. She recalls seeing something odd last night, just before arriving in Corentyn. "I didn't think anything of this last night, but I saw an avian silhouette passing in front of the moon, flapping off in this direction. Maybe that and our current situation are connected..."

"Like a carrier pigeon relaying messages?"

Anaristiel nods, "We should be prepared for some sort of treachery, though I hope this is not the case."

Double doors open into a hall filled with bookshelves, display cases, and two large tables piled with manuscripts. Several oil lamps keep the darkness at bay even at night. A rolling ladder stands at the east end of the library. Two staircases near the doors rise to the balconies on both sides of the hall. The railed balconies run across the length of the hall with a third one rising even higher to the east. There, a pair of
doors leads into a second-story office.

A woman with dark, flowing hair speaks from the highest balcony. “How nice of you to deliver yourselves to me. I was just about to come find you! I strongly advise that you turn yourself in for questioning—though I must admit that part of me hopes you won’t, since our friends to the east are sure to hammer the truth out of the traitor Zefiro anyway.”

"Then you may take pleasure in my refusal" Lance asides, dashing and debonair.

"Are those...Hellknights?" Lance looks positively thrilled as he draws his sword and points it at one - "You and I, man to man, a battle of honour and chivalry?" he offers with bursting enthusiasm.

Anaristiel smiles, "I don't believe we'll be obliging..." She bows her head and begins flickering, blurring her form.
