Pitbull smells that the air beyond the door is stale, but that a single human, wearing boots, has been through the room recently. A pile of rocks sits on the dust- covered floor in one corner of the room.

DC 12 Perception:

The door on the south wall is bent inwards slightly. Something heavy might be pressing against it.

DC 10 Perception (separate roll):

The pile of rocks in the corner is too orderly to be a natural feature.

Hidden underneath the rocks is Sharrowsmith's satchel, which contains his journal.

First part
Every time I plan to depart on the expedition, a new responsibility crops up and demands my attention. There will never be a perfect time, and Aya is more than capable of handling the business and the lodge in my absence for a few weeks. That settles it; at first light, I will begin my journey at last.

Second part
I did not run into any guards on the way here, but the religious decorations and traps suggest that kobolds live in these ruins. I found a room that had not been used recently. It seems safe enough to rest a bit and to store some of my equipment here. If my hunch is right, there is a temple somewhere deeper in these ruins.

I've updated the map. The scent leads toward the western door in the room that Grim is in.

The western door leads to a long corridor, dotted with several doors and ending in a lowered, rusty portcullis. From here, the scent trail seems to move in several direction - it appears Sharrowsmith has investigated thoroughly.

As Holman and pitbull are the first to move into the corridor, tiny arrows start to fly. Holman feels a sharp pain as one of the arrows bores itself into his shoulder, and looking down the corridor, he sees the draconic faces of two kobold snipers, that are firing from cracks in the walls.

Crack in the walls: A crack in the wall provides cover against creatures on the other side, though creatures in either of the two squares adjacent to a crack can make attacks through it without impediment. Small creatures treat a crack as difficult terrain, whereas a Medium creature must take a move action and succeed at a DC 15 Escape Artist check to pass through a crack.

Actually it's not the hole that had the trap, but the spot Cacumattus is standing on. Don't worry, though, there's plenty of traps for everyone.

Also, yellow? I'm just guessing you mean green, because that's the kind of mistake I would make.

Holman steathily moves through the old rubble that is strewn about the temple, and find a position where he can get a clean shot at the newly identified kobold. He throws his dagger, taking the kobold by surprise, and misses only by the thinnest of margins.

The two kobold looks dismayed when Jhalan moves in, wielding a weapon that is almost as big as the two kobold stacked on top of each other. The sniping kobold foolishly reloads and takes aim for the keleshite, being promptly cut down, while the green kobold has his rapier ready, swiftly moves past the bulky weapon, and strikes out with the pointy tip, scoring a touche.

The kobold near Asbo draws his short sword, and stab furiously at the owlbear. He is clearly more at ease with the crossbow.

As the others tend to themselves and the other kobolds (at the latter of which he makes an unhappy expression), Cacumattus retrieves his own wand from his pack, and, though it takes him a few tries to activate it (take 10 UMD for 18), it eventually sparks to life and he touches it to a couple of the worst cuts and bruises he took from the collapsing wall.

Grimaldus quickly discovers the clever trap that the kobolds have set: The floor in the northwest corner is purposefully built of fragile stone that fractures if a Medium creature enters the square. The rubble traps the creature’s foot, and a shallow pit filled with downward-pointing spikes tears at his legs as he tries to escape.

The last room in the hallway also used to contain a trap, but it looks no longer functional: At the south end of this hallway, there is a grotesque dragon face carved in the stone wall. In its gaping maw it has two dozen round holes where its teeth should be. The dragon’s face used to be a functional trap that fired crossbow bolts at anyone stepping on any of the pressure plates in the hallway, but it looks disabled. Some tinkering might get it to work again, which might prove useful should any uninvited guests arrive.

DC 20 Craft(traps) or Disable Device, and some spare parts (12 small crossbow bolts) to get it to work.

There's a double door to the west. In a sack next to the double door, there are twelve narrow strips of leather. There's also a bucket with 80 small crossbow bolts.
