"I brought more gear" Pitbull points to the pack on the owlbears back "Rope, grapples, shovel, picks, lights - in case we need climbing stuff or going into a crypt, had a crypt in Kaer Maga and would have eaten the Paladin for a pick" she jokes.

Would like to lead from up front taking advantage of Pitbull and the Owlbear having the Scent ability, probably handy in this terrain - anything smells funky they can pull back and warn the party - they SAID lizard men, but it could just as easily be troglodytes or a range of other critters and stinky things.

Fink provides directions to the dinosaur nest. Go quickly, the others are already well on their way!.

The Kaava Lands teem with wildlife, from squawking birds and stinging insects to humongous trees that create a dense canopy above. Vines, roots, and large-leaved plants cover much of the ground. The gripplis’ directions lead northwest through the dark, virtually trackless terrain. The myriad sounds of the jungle grow louder, and the undergrowth grows thicker, as the Krihirik village vanishes into the distance.

Please all make a survival check. I will use the highest roll, and count the rest as aid anothers

About four miles from the Krihirik village, the terrain suddenly drops off into a deep ravine. The far side of the ravine is sixty feet away, and its craggy faces descend one hundred feet to the ravine floor below. The gap in the jungle allows a glimpse of the sky above, but the trees grow to the very edge of the ravine, and their dense canopy still blocks out much of the light. Several of the trees have massive, shaggy-barked trunks sporting countless twisting limbs. The trees’ strong roots grow deep into the earth and some even dangle over the side of the ravine.

The roots are those of a monkey tree, a common but subtle hazard in the Mwangi Expanse, and its bark and roots contain concentrated oils that react upon contact with skin or leather to create an overwhelming, spicy odor.

The party makes it down the ravine without trouble, but the saps and oils coming from the roots do leave behind a pungent smell. The strong reek drowns out most other smells in this jungle.

Is that going to spoil Asbo and Pitbulls Scent ability? If so can we counter the smell at all? will clean it up if possible - otherwise I have a Negate Aroma potion if not possible. That's nasty...!

You can neutralise the smell by washing. The downside is that it is going to cause delay in your chase. The scent ability won't be affected as such, it's just other people's scent ability gets augmented ;-)

Fallen trees, rocky streams, hanging vines, and other obstacles litter the ravine floor, making travel through this area just as difficult despite the sparser foliage. After several hundred feet, the terrain gives way to a natural trail running through the middle of the ravine. In most places the trail is a mere five feet wide, though it widens to fifteen or even twenty feet in some areas. The ravine walls and the distant canopy still block out most of the natural light along the path.

Where the path narrows again, a humanoid corpse—one hand stuck in its vest as though desperately trying to reach for something—lies sprawled in the dirt next to a thick, thorny plant. Countless biting ants swarm over the corpse, making its features difficult to discern.

After climbing down the tree roots and discovering the pungent smell, Marra uses prestidigitation {link} to quickly clean herself and her equipment of the smell, "Who's next?". The halfling offers to use the spell to clean the others.

when the group arrives at the ant covered corpse, Marra comments "The ant's don't look friendly, but I would like to see if the bodies are of our Aspis competitors." She draws out flask of alchemist's fire, shift forward and throws it at the first group of ants.

Alchemist's Fire::
You can throw a flask of alchemist's fire as a splash weapon. Treat this attack as a ranged touch attack with a range increment of 10 feet.

A direct hit deals 1d6 points of fire damage. Every creature within 5 feet of the point where the flask hits takes 1 point of fire damage from the splash. On the round following a direct hit, the target takes an additional 1d6 points of damage. If desired, the target can use a full-round action to attempt to extinguish the flames before taking this additional damage. Extinguishing the flames requires a DC 15 Reflex save. Rolling on the ground provides the target a +2 bonus on the save. Leaping into a lake or magically extinguishing the flames automatically smothers the fire.

The party stands back and looks at the swarm, with only Pitbull taking any action: his fire agitates the swarm, though it also burns out most of the crawling carpet.

The swarm starts moving, but the fire is too much for it. The bulk of the mass burned away, and the rest of the ants scatter into the forest.

Combat over!

The man's face is badly swollen, making him nearly impossible to identify. Around him lie a rapier, a masterwork composite longbow, two potions, two oil, two arrows, and two flasks of alchemist’s fire.

I might have the DC wrong, but I'm going to give you a blanket show at identifying everything

The floor of the ravine slopes downward slightly and the foliage overhead gradually thins. The ravine is wider here, and numerous boulders scattered throughout the area attest to steady erosion. Some of the boulders bear strange carvings and are even hewn into rough pillars, but they jut at odd angles out from the landscape and don’t seem to be a part of any surviving structure. Nestled in the shadow of two such pillars is a shallow pit scraped out of the earth by some massive creature’s claws. The nest contains several branches, the half-eaten body of a leather-clad humanoid, several broken shells, and a several large, intact eggs. In the trampled foliage near the nest lies the corpse of a massive, bipedal dinosaur, its tooth-lined maw agape and its hide pierced with dozens of crude javelins.

Four lizard folk are here, busy eating... the contents of the dinosaur eggs! The lizard folk are too absorbed by their meal to notice the pathfinders afar.

Grim takes a step forward, pulls back on his composite darkwood bow, and lets loose an arrow at the closest lizardman (green). Even if he doesn't kill it, he figures the attack will stop their feeding frenzy...

Marra starts to whisper "Holman could drink the invisibility potion and sneak up to steal the...." the halfling voice trails off as the zing of an arrow fired by Grim whizzes past a lizardmen, "..Or, we could just attack them."

The small bard moves forward drawing her scimitar and starting a bardic battle chant.
