Shin quietly observes the woman.

Jebediah watches impassively, thoroughly expecting the woman to be either a devil in disguise, or somehow mind-controlled.

Amsheagar casts a dispel, but nothing happens to the woman. She still looks bruised and battered. Help me... she pleads.

"I am happy to rescue a damsel in distress. You appeared to have greatly suffered. Do you require healing as well?"

Pad attempts to unlock the chains that bind her.

Disable Device, T10: 10 + 29 + 2 = 41

Pad unshackles the only remaining competing contestant, who just says Get me out of here. Get me home... as she meekly follows the adventurers.

Sorry for the longer silence. Where to next?

Is she physically hurt, or just dehydrated? If she needs healing, Nalshene will gladly use a few CLW spells on her to get her mobile.

Amsheagar looks at the woman. "What's your name dear, and how did you get here?" He detects magic once again, trying to determine where the magic is coming from this time.

She's bruised and badly treated, but the damage seems to be mental: she's not lacking hp, neither is she fatigued.

Amsheagar detects magic once again, but notices that the divination aura is gone. Illia points to a chest my effects... she says.

The chest is locked with a simple lock. Inside are her adventuring items

I am Illia Ean. I am... was... one of the contestants in the breaching festival. she mumbles with a subdued voice.

Jebediah eyes the woman cautiously whilst she re-equips, but shrugs, and moves on to the next door.

The next door opens a laboratory of sorts. The overpowering stench of potent alchemical and arcane reagents fills this room, the cluttered surfaces of which are piled with half-full beakers, alembics, and retorts, each holding what appears to be a different bodily fluid.

A delicate human female, dressed in glamorous robes stands in the middle of the room, calmly. Well, well. Here is a fine set of interlopers. Pray tell me, why should I let you live?

Illia shudders, and looks on in fear.

Seeing Illia's response, Jebediah narrows his eyes, and snorts.

"I see that you have already met poor Illia. I think that a better, but equally futile, question would be why should *we* let *you* live..."

He then pounces forward!

Yeah, Glau will probably jump in too. She doesn't appreciate the woman's tone. But I'll wait for initiative to see if she can actually act fast enough.

Hey, I am hoping that took her by surprise - she sounded arrogant enough to *not* expect to be viciously pounced on by a talking dinosaur ;-)

It takes more than quick movement to catch this woman off-guard. I'll keep the attacks, though.

Once she hits the ceiling, Amsheagar will watch her fall back down, taking fall damage again... and possibly prone.

Amsheagar lets a waft for rising air wash over the woman, who slowly reverts to her true form - the epitome of fiendish, feminine beauty. Fleshy tentacles trail from her head, and beneath her writhes a skirt of tentacles, pulsing and seeming to caress the stone floor.

Menacingly, she says to Illia Good, my servant. Chyvvom brooks no disloyalty, and Lorthact no rebellion. Kill them all.

She steps back, casts a spell and conjures a writhing mass of black tentacles

That does not hit Jebediah's CMD. He also has Freedom of Movement running, so either way, he is not grappled.

She then will pull a wand from her belt and cast a targeted [i[dispel magic[/i] (CL 14) on the black tentacles.

DC 11 + her effective caster level, if successful the tentacles disappear.

Nalshene, I would normally need a DC 32 concentration check (10+19+3) for that spell to work. Right now the point is moot, because you do not beat the caster level.

Nalshene tries her arcane best, but cannot seem to remove the spell.

With a fly spell now cast on Narshala, Nalshene says "Narshala, attack! Fly above!" Narshala will then fly into the room over the reach of the tentacles, and will fly right up to the nasty demon thingy and attack her with a bite.

damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Narshala is wearing demon-defiant leather armor, so if the creature is a demon, she gets +2 AC and DR2/- against it.

Shin reaches out to grab Illia, hoping to pin her arms to her side.

The tentacles squeeze Nalshene tight, while the dino flies over it to bite the tentacled devil, and misses by the faintest of margins.

Shinkeer pins down the turncoat contestant, and pins her down before he has the time to wriggle free.

Pad moves fifteen feet east and casts Haste on his companions.

Nodding his thanks to Pad, Jebediah does a quick circuit of the rooms that the party has thus far visited.

Double move, first going out of the room, and all the way west, to peer into rooms 1, 2, and 4, then ducking into 3, before heading back out into the corridor.

Amsheagar calls out to the others. "She teleported away. Does anyone see her? He drops his bag and once again changes into an elemental. This time of Air.

Jebediah moves quickly, and finds the woman in the back of the prison room.

Illia struggles against Shinkeers hold, but again does not manage to break free.

Nalshene is squeezed further by the tentacles as Asmheagar turns into an air elemental.

Not wanting to wait, the Air form of Amsheagar starts to move out and transforms into a Whirlwind picking up the black tentacles but as a free action, leaving everyone else where they are. Once he finds the woman in the room, now two of them, he fills up the room and concentrates to call lightning.

damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) = 4 19 reflex save for half. If it has Spell Resistance SR: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27

Each creature in the room needs to make a Reflex save of 23 or take damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9. If failed the first reflex, make another one. If failed a second time, they are in the whirlwind.

I'm not sure you can pick up the tentacles (since damage can't be dealt to them), but you might be able to pick ME up and get me out of them...

"Narshala, follow them, and get her!"
Narshala flies after the party, and seeing her prey in the new room, flies up to her and slashes at her with a talon.

I'll wait to see what the ruling is on picking up and moving the tentacles before I declare Nalshene's actions.

Jebediah strikes without hesitation, and dismembers the weakened devil. When she falls, the illusion she created is also dispelled.

Enough, I surrender! Illia shouts from her hopeless situation, let me go!

Pad wipes the blood from his back and casts Greater Infernal Healing on himself to regain his vitality and close the fresh wound. His eyes turn red and wide evil grin appears.

"I vote to put her back in chains where we found her. Her betrayal should have consequences."

Illia sobs I just want to get out of here. The mercilessness. The torture. You have to forgive me, do not put me back in those chains...

Once the stupid tentacles disappear, Nalshene brushes any slime from them off of her outfit. "Well. I'm going to have to invest in one of those rings that grant you freedom of movement, now aren't I? I apologize for my lack of preparation for that battle, my friends. At least Narshala was able to aid you all."

Nalshene jumps on Narshala's back and slies over to the pinned woman sobbing. "You made a grave mistake turning on us, miss. Do you see now how our abilities outmatched that devil? But we will show you mercy, if you cooperate with us. I want you to tell us anything about this place that might be of use to us. And then I'm going to put you to sleep, and we will tie you up until we return. Once we have cleared this place of other filth, we will take you with us as our prisoner, and you can tell your tale to the preceptors of the competition. Do you understand?"

While talking to the woman, Nalshene will also busy herself by casting a few spells to heal the damage the tentacles did to her.
