Nalshene |
"You can feel free to hop on Narshala with me, Pad. There's plenty of room, and I don't take up a lot of space."
Nalshene waits for Pad to clamber up if he chooses to, then Narshala takes them to the other corridor, following Jeb.
Amsheagar |
Amsheagar mutters the riddle to himself as he goes to the other corridor with everyone. "Commerce Is King and Courage His Queen"
DM Kludde |
The east room mirrors the west one, except that the fountain is marked "Fellowship", and the inscription on the sarcophagus, marked with the name Vespacio Voxus Aella (the other one was marked Vicenzo Voxus Adella) reads "Courage Is King and Commerce His Queen."
Amsheagar |
Amsheagar looks at this inscription. "It would seam that they are reversed from the other side, Almost is if there should be a conection. If they came together, it would make a whole. The king is courage and commerce and his queen is the same. Good business."
DM Kludde |
The chambers seems to be the final resting place of two brothers, judging by the similarity of name and their close birthdates (and death) dates.
You may indeed want to investigate the coffins - are you doing that?
Amsheagar |
Amsheagar looks at the tombs... "Before we open them, i suggest we make ourselves ready to fight the undead."
Shinkeer Aswander |
Shin uses his wand of armoring (can't remember if I did.) and readies for the coffins to be opened.
Nalshene |
"I have little preparation I can make against undead, though I do have some spells that can deal with them quite nicely if they appear."
Nalshene will cast form of the dragon II on Narshala, turning her into a copper dragon. She will let Nalshene and Pad get down off her back, then will climb up onto the ceiling (using her now-constant spider climb effect) and will ready to breathe acid at anything that comes out of the sarcophagus.
Pad The Pyro |
Not entirely sure how long ago the fire elemental battle was. I am ticking off 10 minutes of my spell duration unless I'm told otherwise.
Pad casts a series of buffing spells on himself. He will cast Haste on the party right before opening the tomb (surprise round).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Freedom of Movement (perm), Mage Armor (15 hrs), Stoneskin 140/150 HP (140 min), Heroism (140 min), Heightened Awareness (140 min), See Invisibility (140 min), Fly (15 min), Shield (15 min), Protection from Evil (15 min), Spectral Hand (15 min), Spell Resistance 27 (5 min), Haste (15 rds)
Amsheagar |
Amsheagar will change into his huge tiger form and cast a few spells on him.
---------------------------------------------
Greater Magical Fang (bite) all day, Barkskin (+5) 140min, Thorn Body (14 rounds)
DM Kludde |
There haven't been a lot of action that took a look time, except maybe for the scrounging around the graveyard. 10 minutes seems reasonable
The party prepares to open the sarcophagus in the eastern room (So as to save Pad from another walk). Inside is a necklace of gold with a small globe of crystal suspended from it. Within the crystal are three human teeth. The necklace is distinctly magical.
Jebediah Heliotrope |
"I wonder..."
Jebediah attempts to identify the item...
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29.
...before moving back to the other room and opening the sarcophagus there to see if there is a similar item.
DM Kludde |
Jebediah deduces that the item function much like a greater ring of cold energy resistance, but that it must be worn around the neck.
As he moves over to the west room, he immediately feels a supernatural revulsion to the place build up as he moves near...
Jebediah Heliotrope |
Curiouser and curiouser... Does everyone feel the same repulsion?
"Anyone want to use this?"
I have an Amulet of Mighty Fists, which I am loathe to swap out for this.
Amsheagar |
Amsheagar roars and bends his massive head down so that you can slip it around his neck. More string/rope is in his bag that he is carrying.
DM Kludde |
In fact, it is Amsheagar, now wearing the amulet, who is feeling the revulsion toward the western room. Jebediah feels nothing of the sort, and searches the sarcophagus, yielding a similar amulet.
As you see Jebediah hold the amulet, you feel anger and revulsion. You are certain that the item is evil and bears a curse.
Amsheagar |
Amsheagar swipes at the amulet Jebediah is holding, trying to knock it out of his hands.
Swipe attack: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (14) + 19 = 33
Swipe attack: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39
Missing with his first swipe cut connecting with the second one.
DM Kludde |
As soon as Amsheagar touches the amulet, he feels a jolt of pain course through him
Can I have a Fort save, please?
Glaurung of Anfauglith |
"Ummm..." Glaurung looks suddenly concerned at Amsheagar's behavior. "Maybe we shouldn't have been so quick to trust the amulet I guess. Is he ok? Can we get it off him without being mauled?"
DM Kludde |
There isn't any control, Amsheagar is acting on his own accord. In a sense, this borders on PvP - I'll accept this since it is somewhat driven by the influence of the amulet, and doesn't cause damage (to Jeb, that is, I still need that Fort save)
Amsheagar |
fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
doesn't look too good for Amsheagar.
DM Kludde |
Con damage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10 Ouch
Amsheagar feels the life force drain out of him, seemingly ageing several years on the spot. When the pain is gone, he feels like a empty shell.
Also, I need Jebediah and Amsheagar to roll a will save.
Amsheagar, can you point me to the right mechanics for the swipe attack you made?I can't seem to find them.
Amsheagar |
Basicly, Amsheagar is trying to swipe the amulet out of his hands.
will: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
I have made a noob mistake on my last save. I just used the base and didn't add my constitution. But i don't think a 15 would have beat the DC...
Amsheagar transforms back into a human. "That amulet is cursed." he says. The Amsheagar that you see before you has been severely aged. If only it had happened when he was one more level higher.. level 15... ageless body...
Amsheagar |
Amsheagar removes the amulet from around his neck and places it on the ground. Using detect magic and spell craft to determine if it is cursed.
Spellcraft: 10 + 16 = 26
Nalshene |
"Oh, Amsheagar... you look so.... regal? But we should really get you healed if possible. I unfortunately do not have the capacity to cast such a spell. Jeb, can you prepare a restorative spell you could use on him?"
Amsheagar |
Amsheagar nods his head at Jeb, his fellow druid. "I'll take some of it tomorrow myself. Healing has never been my strong point."
DM Kludde |
Jebediah and Amsheagar briefly feel the need to go at each other's throats over the two amulets: Jebediah briefly sees Amsheagar as a reflection of himself, a twin, and feels a pang of intense rivalry, and vice versa.
Throwing the amulets on the ground ends the feeling. Both of the reliquaries seems to have a similar magical function (greater ring of energy resistance/cold). The items are reliquaries: one has a crystal orb that shows an embedded finger, the other shows three human teeth. The item are not cursed by themselves, but seem to reflect a bitter rivalries between brothers.
Jebediah Heliotrope |
Moderately appropriate that the two druids picked these up, then ;-)
"Perhaps it would be best if we left these alone."
Jebediah then backs away from the reliquaries, and moves to investigate the staircase.
Shinkeer Aswander |
Shin looks on in confusion. "What just happened?"
Sorry, was away this weekend for the holiday.
DM Kludde |
A wide flight of stairs descends down into the earth here. After a few steps, thick white mist fills the stairwell, obscuring further vision. Three circular tiles are set into the floor inside of the archway at the head of the stairs; each tile depicts a different medusa’s face—one howling in rage, one mocking with a forked tongue, and one with crossed eyes.
From out of the mists, suddenly four spirits rise up, swirling around the adventurers, whispering softly “Are you of the blood?” “Have you come to pay your respects, cousin?” “Is his name still spoken?”
DM Kludde |
Is the line preserved? the spirits whispers, oblivious to the words spoken by Nalshene, Will you honour the fallen?
Is the legacy safe?
Pad The Pyro |
"Yes, yes and it depends. Your legacy can be safe once the family sword is found and brought to your descendant. It suffered a grievous wound, but it can be restored. Do you know where the sword is?"
DM Kludde |
The spirits don't seem to hear Pad, they just float around, repeating their words words, circling around the adventurers.
DM Kludde |
Jebediah passes the archway without touching any of the medusa tiles. The stairs descend to a blank wall.
