The adventurers remove the barricade, opening the door to reveal a short hallway. The walls and floor of this short hallway ripple as if alive— every surface of this hallway is covered with a wave of tiny constructs. They look like they were originally beetle-shaped, but have incorporated pieces of junk into their construction and are now covered in rusted protrusions.

The creature is a junk golem, a construct that can form itself into a creature, or dissolve into a swarm at will. It's rather resistant to magic, though certains may negatively affect it: shatter, arcane lock, hold portal, wood shape and rusting grasp will all have an effect that hampers the swarm.
The creature eagerly moves forward, covering Ilya and Swayaah in tiny, debris-covered creatures that start eating away at the metallic and organic components offered them.

The corridor leads to a large hall. A pool of glowing green liquid that smells like rotting flesh dominates this massive chamber. Long, metallic tentacles writhe around the edge of the pool, like snakes searching for prey.

Ketill asks the question, but before the automaton head can answer, he smells the tell-tale odour of a potent acid that will eat away at anything organic in the pool.
This is the rendering hall, the head answers, these tentacles will recycle anything that comes near them. Better to avoid.

Although Swayaah disabled the first tentacle with ease, she has a harder time with the second one. She makes a false move, causing the writhing thing to activate, squeezing the tiefling hard, grabbing her and dumping her into the acid pool
