Ketill tries to break free of the web
Escape Artist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
DM Kludde |
Ketill manages to bust the web as the spider move out of the hole, into view of Zen'yr, who promptly casts her spell. Unfortunately, it has no effect on the spider, who moves on to bite the trapped prey.
Bite, Ilya: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 201d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Redke looks at the spider who he hit before and flings another piece of loose web at it, while a low growl emanates from within him.

Zen'yr |
Zen'yr curses as she sees that her spell didn't have the effect she had wanted.
Zen'yr, starts to weaves her hands, and incites an incantation. The spell takes quite some time to finish however.
starting to cast sleep
Zen'yr wonders how strong the will of these spiders can withstand the mental assault she has planned. She starts to weaves her hands, in a precise manner, and speak some foreign words.
At the end, a feeling of anger arises in the more injured spider, causing it to want to attack its eight legged friend.
changing -2 hypnotic stare to most injured spider, the casting murderous command againp
DM Kludde |
Redke throws some strands of web back at the spider, trying to slash the arachnid with the silvery goop, but being behind his teammates makes the eight-legged creature hard to hit.
Value's shot is almost impossible: not only does he have to avoid hitting his teammates, but he also has to fire past them. The only effect of his shot is that Zen'yr's ears are temporarily ringing.
Zen'yr is unbothered by this, and casts another murderous command. Unfortunately, the effect is again limited.

Fort, vs. bite 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Fort, vs. bite 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Ilya ignores the spiders directly in front of her, and again tries to break free from the web. she using the corner of the door opening to aid herself.
Escape Artist, +5 from corner: 1d20 + 7 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 5 = 23
After finally breaking free from the web, Ilya assumes a stance of the dragon style. If the spiders use stunning or paralyzing poison, it should be less effective now.
DM Kludde |
Keith leaves Ilya to fend for herself, which she does, breaking free of the webbing. Kellan then steps in to exterminate the spiders, but fails to hit.

Redke grimaces at his miss and lets out a muttered curse in frustration, but with nothing better to do, shoots off another telekinetic blast at the more injured spider.
Slashing Webs!: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 4 = 7
Pew! Pew!: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Seeing his blast shoot wide, Redke lets out another groan.
Vayu |
Vayu wants to use his Sylph racial trait "Breeze Kissed" to push the spider back with a gust of wind so others can get in there ... IF there are non-web squares in there to move to. He can do this to anyone within 30'
Frustrated with his inability to hit anything from here, Vayu calls upon his ancestral powers, bringing whatever wisps of air exist in the area into one large gust of wind to push back on the northern spider ...
Bull Rush, Opposed Strength Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
The wind is doing it, not Vayu, so no AOO from the initial bull rush and an extra 5' for every 5 he beats the strength check by (if he does)
IF he pushes the spider back he will enter the room, and try to step to the north ... trying to just provoke the one AOO from the southern spider (no north step if there is going to be a second AOO).
Avoid AOO from spider 1: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
IF he is ending his move NOT adjacent to a spider (depends on how far back the wind pushed the spider
Seeing an opening Vayu dashes between his companions, and dives and rolls past the southern spider ... leaping to his feet he fires a blast ...
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
ELSE if he is ending his move adjacent to a spider
Seeing an opening Vayu dashes between his companions, and dives and rolls past the southern spider ... pulling his rapier from his belt as he rolls, he stabs at the heavily wounded spider.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
If the room is all web with nowhere to move once in, then he will just fire without doing anything else
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 4 = 9
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
DM Kludde |
Redke's tries to slash the spiders again from his unfortunate position, when Vayu decides to take matters into his own hands. He blows a gust of air at the spider, and pushes it back by a substantial amount, giving him enough room to manoeuvre into the room. Swiftly, he jumps past the one spider that remains in the door opening, and fires a shot at the other one. The shot penetrates the soft underbelly of the spider, and spread it out over the dungeon wall.

Vayu |
Oops ... I just noticed Vayu took two standard actions last turn. Retconing the kill, or giving the dying spider a swing and skipping Vayu's next turn would be appropriate.
DM Kludde |
At this point, retconning would provide too much of a mess. I'll give it a swipe before it dies

As Vayu fires into the spiders mouth at point blank range it lashes out, biting into the gunslingers arm as he fends it off. The spider is blown apart, spraying across the room but not before leaving its poison seeping into the splayed open flesh on Vayu's arm.

Keith's bomb sends a shockwave through the little webbing that remains, and burns the spider. The eight-legged creature retaliates by trying to catch Vayu in a thrown web, entangling the gunslinger in a mass of fresh strands.

I did, but my posting might be sporadic, my wife still has family in town :D

When Vayu, is targeted by the spider, Zen'yr activated the mental suggestion I played in Vayu, and an illusionary double springs from the aether.
activatung Mesmerist mirror, please roll to confirm real Vayu and not illusion
DM Kludde |
Uhm, Zen'yr, I'm unsure about the mechanic, can you point me to it? Do I roll 50% miss chance?
If so, high is good (for spider): 1d100 ⇒ 41
Redke causes the webbing of the pale spider to slash back at it, while Zen'yr plays a mesmerist's trick, causing a double of Vayu to appear. The spider is hit badly by the slashes, and seems to be only hanging on by a thread.

Mesmerist Mirror (An illusory image appears around the subject to throw off attackers. The mesmerist can trigger this trick when the subject is attacked or becomes the target of a spell that requires an attack roll. One duplicate of the subject appears, and the attacker must determine randomly which it hits (as mirror image). For every 5 caster levels the mesmerist possesses, one additional image appears, to a maximum of five images at 20th level. This is an illusion (figment) effect.)
does my sleep spell go off?
DM Kludde |
Thanks, I'll keep the d100 roll, since it has the same effect. The spider saved against the sleep spell.
Kellan shoots a ray of cold against the nearly dead spider, and it staggers under the impact.
I'm calling combat over. Time to proceed to the next level!
The ladder’s shaft ends in a wide staircase descending into darkness. On the floor at the top of the stairs, a dead moon spider lies on its back, its legs drawn up and frozen in a curled-in position. An unpleasant rotting reek emanates from a sunken hole in its belly.
Ilya Akyll |
Worked last time. Let's do that again ;)
I'll post with Ilya when she's ready.
Kellan Demonbane |
DING!!
Just as the party is about to walk out of the dungeon, a glint of light catches Kellan's eye. "What... I thought we checked every nook and cranny of this place?" She walks over and sees the hilt of some sort of blade sticking out of a pile of otherwise normal detritus. She pulls out the blade... and feels a jolt of power coming from it.
Hello, Kellan. I am called Talon. I've chosen you to wield me. a voice says in her mind.
Kellan can tell that the blade will be a huge boost to her abilities in combat, and while the party walks back, she explains to them that the blade is intelligent, and has chosen her as its wielder. She hopes that the party does not think that she is simply trying to take party loot for herself...
With hitting 3rd level, Kellan's Bladebound archetype gains her a Black Blade, an intelligent scimitar that has its own pool of arcane points.
DM Kludde |
Do you want to play out the part of returning to the town, or do you just want to restock and proceed to the next level?
Broad stone stairs open into a small, irregularly shaped chamber lit by oil lamps. To the east, a short flight of steps leads up to a sturdy door set in the middle of a wall and flanked by arrow slits. To the north, a wide gate of iron bars blocks an archway leading to a larger chamber filled with the eerie green glow of the Emerald Spire.
Kellan Demonbane |
I don't see the point in playing it out, really. We resupply, learn a feat, blah blah LOL. Kludde, how much gold did we get from this level?
DM Kludde |
Fine with me. Gold is on the chronicle (see discussion thread), it's 1536 gp
Ilya Akyll |
UMD: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
This time, a single tap with her wand is enough to activate Ilya's mage armor.
Ilya puts her wand away, and draws her temple sword as she descends the stairs. "So, Kellan, what was the name of your blade again? Talon? I figure you'll get to test it soon, given the many encounters on the previous levels."
Kellan Demonbane |
"Yes... it will be interesting to see what he can do in combat. He brags constantly to me of his sharpness and perfect weightedness... reminds me of our friend Redke back there a bit." Kellan says, winking wryly.
Zen'yr |
Before Ilya can run off, Zen'yr calmly places her hand on her shoulder, leaving a fleeting thought in the back of her mind.
Just don't get yourself killed girl
implant mesmerist mirror in Ilya
DM Kludde |
Redke, Vayu, Ketill: are you ready?
Redke Orefall |
Redke looks around, sees Kellen's new blade and says, "Finally, somebody who might talk sense into you. Now, where is this ladder down?"
Ready to rock!
Vayu |
" ... sense, ha ... that's something that is not abundant here ...", Adjusting the new dragon pistol in his belt, and readying his old faithful pistol, Vayu says, "... I'm ready, let's do this!"
DM Kludde |
Broad stone stairs open into a small, irregularly shaped chamber lit by oil lamps. To the east, a short flight of steps leads up to a sturdy door set in the middle of a wall and flanked by arrow slits. To the north, a wide gate of iron bars blocks an archway leading to a larger chamber filled with the eerie green glow of the Emerald Spire.
As Ilya steps up into the first chamber, she sees movement behind the arrow slits on the right. A male voice, slightly muffled from behind a piece of cloth, shouts out Who enters the lair of the splinters?
Redke Orefall |
"Tell them we're bringing supplies and food" Redke whispers to Ilya after he heard the shout ring out.

"It's never been my thing," Ilya explains as she gives Redke an apologetic look.
DM Kludde |
Hahahaha! You're bringing your gold to us, aren't you? ALL OF IT!
There is the distinct gleam of the tip of crossbow bolt pointing through the blinds, at least two of them.
Kellan Demonbane |

Kellan hears a muttering: She's trying to trick us, these tie flings can't be trusted.
The gold better be good. One of you can deliver it to us while the others stay back.
Kellan Demonbane |
"Let me talk to my friends for a moment."
Kellan steps back and tries to huddle the rest of the party. She then whispers "I am willing to parley with them, and even offer them some gold, to get them to open up, and then I can surprise them with Talon. Redke, you've got such range with your mind-power-stuff, you could just stand back with the rest of the group and still be dangerous. What do you guys think?"
