When I ran that scenario Dalsine knocked the player with the highest AC and HP unconscious with a single hit, which caused pretty much ever other player (and myself) to freak out a bit. Luckily another player got Dalsine trapped in a web and he went down in no time afterward! :)

I did some reading on the mesmerist rules. They confuse me
He can have only one trick implanted at a given time
- On himself?
- On a given person?
- On any person at any given time?
I'm tended to go with the last, especially considering the power level 8 mirror images with trigger at will give compared to a similar level wizard or sorceror.
On top of that:
A creature can be the subject of only one mesmerist trick at a time.
Then the triggering: triggering is a free action, not an immediate action. Not sure why it isn't an immediate action (since free + act out of turn = immediate), but there must be a subtlety I'm missing.
I'm happy to accept things like rules discussion threads or rulings that clear things up (there's a lot of noise on the line from the playtest). Until that time I'm going to go with one-trick-at-a-time to mean per mesmerist, not per target.

Okay, so I found this to clarify things really well, I think.
Manifold Tricks (Su): At 5th level, the mesmerist can have two tricks implanted at a time. The number of concurrent tricks increases by one for every 4 mesmerist levels he possesses beyond 5th. Each creature can still be the subject of only one trick at a time. If the mesmerist implants a new trick while he already has his maximum number of concurrent tricks implanted, he must choose one implanted trick to dismiss without triggering (the dismissed trick still expends a daily use of the mesmerist's tricks).
So, it appears, I can have a total of 2 tricks out at a time, but only 1 per person. So I would have done the following.
I would give myself, and Ilya both mesmerist mirror. This would free up 4 of my tricks, thus giving me 6/8 uses eft for the day.
As far as the triggering, I would argue that the "not even my turn" would mean that it is an immediate action, so long as the trick condition is met (in this case, being attacked triggers it)

If the devil has DR 10/good, immunity to fire/poison, how come Ilya did only 1 damage with her attack? She did 15 physical blunt damage, 9 electricity damage, and 1 poison damage. That should leave 5 physical damage and 9 electricity damage.
I'll await a reply before I post again, because maybe I'm completely missing something and a total change of tactics is required.

If we're fighting a CR 11 barbed devil here:
a) I'm really happy Zen'yr blinded the devil or there is no way the front liners would survive
b) Vital Strike is the only way I'm gonna beat DR 10
c) Uh, maybe we should just flee if the devil is bound to this room.

I tried to cast hideous laughter, but failed the SR check. I will try again next round if we all stay. If it somehow is laughing for 8 rounds, that may help us too. Or we can just run, since it cannot follow since it cannot see.
If we stay, I can keep the party "somewhat" up with my CLW wand too. At least we have a 50% miss chance due to blindness.
Kellan, I would rather have you PLAY your PC they way you had intended for them to be played, quirks and motives and all. This is a game, and we can still overcome this challenge should it become to rough by trying to "make a deal with the devil". But how cool would it be to say a group making a CR 8, took out a CR 11 !?

I've put up a full speed chronicle for you, Ketill.
Kellan bought a Ring of Arcane Mastery between the last session and this one, essentially giving her a pool of 4 additional arcane pool points, though she plans to save them as a last resort, since she can use all four points at once to turn a spell back on its caster, which could definitely come in handy. :)
She also bought a Pendant of the Blood Scarab because HOLY CRAP that's like the best cheap item for a magus on earth.

I bought a spire transport token after all. Ilya doesn't mind running up and down for some extra training, but story wise that'd mean she'd constantly freak the morlocks out while passing through. Also, it'll be a nice souvenir once we're done exploring the Spire! :P
