Bruce strikes out at the grappled serpent, but it just. won't. die.

The fact that a huge rage is on top of him doesn't seem to hamper the serpent, and does not prevent him from throwing another ball of fire.

Conc: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Fireball: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 5, 4, 3) = 18 RFX DC 19 for half.

The serpent man then looses his footing, brought off-balance by the hold of Jelani, and slips over the edge of the pit. Fortunately for him, he is still held by the rager.

RFX: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 - 2 = 13

Bruce should also make a rfx save or fall into the pit.

Jelani holds on to the serpent man, while Fellgrim shoots a bolt in one of its necks, squirting red serpent blood all over the rager. Bruce moves up and stabs the dangling serpentfolk, causing the arterial bleeding to become even more severe.

It's a sorry sight, really, the nearly helpless serpentfolk dangling over the deep pit.

They did, sorry about not mentioning them. These, though:

Jelani pins down the snakeman, making it an easy target for Caranthir, who swiftly executes the serpent man.

Combat over!

The serpent statue contains a large emerald, but it is firmly embedded into the statue, and 25 feet off the ground. The statue is also missing its fangs.

Wow...that was a tough one. I think it shows the kind of stuff we will have to face going forward. And Jelani scares me to death if the enemy gets control. However, Asuna can hopefully get him back quickly, if so. And Thistle's doing a bang-up job keeping everyone alive! Good work, team!

Caranthir looks at the statue with the missing fangs.

"I wonder if someone has removed the fangs somehow. I have the capability of retrieving the gem with a levitate spell I have prepared, but wonder if we should come back for it once we have cleared the level."

I can go get it now, but would prefer to save it if I need it somewhere else on this level, then come back and get it later.

"I can get up there without to much trouble." Bruce says as he pulls and extract and a bottle that looks like it holds swirling air. Bruce drinks his extract first then takes a pull from the bottle of air and immediately spits it back in the bottle. He then flies up to the emerald to see if he can get it out.

Thistle stops and catches his breath, not realizing that his hands on his knees, breathing heavily is the same position Jelani is in right now.

That was close...

Without a word, Thistle gathers everyone close, and focuses his mind.

Then he pulls his wand out to finish healing the burns from the two-headed snake.

Bruce tries to get the gem out, but it appears to be firmly held in place with adamantine brackets. There appears ago be a mechanism of sorts, related to the missing fangs, but well-protected behind adamantine plating.

Caranthir looks doubtful. "I do not believe the fangs would be the correct size, though I suppose we could try it. My guess is that we still lack some piece of this puzzle, and perhaps we can obtain it somewhere else in this dungeon."

The fangs of the snakes are indeed too small to be of any use for the statue. The only fang, thus far, that was large enough was the one found one level above this one

The gemstone does not radiate magic, it just looks very expensive.

Caranthir uses his pearl of power to regain a casting of gravity bow, then follows the others.

I had cast it before this fight, so certainly a few minutes have gone by. If we have time for another encounter before it wears off, I'll save it, but otherwise will cast it before going in the next door.

This entire chamber is bathed in a green radiance emanating from the Emerald Spire that pierces the room. Carved into the wall around this pillar are large nests holding pearly eggs.

In the middle of the room, a large cobra hisses as soon as the party enters the room, ready to defend the eggs

Caranthir steps back to get a clear shot down the hallway, though his companions all stand in the way. Knowing just a split-second beforehand that the snake would be there when they opened the door, he quickly sends a series of arrows down the hallway just when his companions open the door.

The snake opens its mouth to hiss, and his first shot goes directly down its throat. Another pair of arrows rain down the hallway as an exclamation point.

I think I've calculated damage correctly, but someone could double-check. I've got a x3 crit modifier for the bow, gravity bow in effect, but then only applied the damage from manyshot and the frost bow 1x.

Bruce retrieves the second fang, and places them in the statue. A clicking sounds can be heard, and the adamantine clasp retreat, loosening the large emerald in its socket. A brief climb up later, and the emerald is salvaged from the statue. Although it isn't magical, it is of great value.
